Atmosphere, service and food were fantastic! My cappuccino was kinda small for the price, but was very yummy!!
I had the exact same experience as a recent reviewer ordering the vegan hash. The main ingredient, or should be, potatoes, was absent. Myself and guest both ordered this, along with two different coffee items. At $10, its already overpriced. After waiting 15 mins or so, we received a small bowl of mostly spinach, raw, and some sauteed veges underneath, with 3 very skinny slices of avocado. The person with me actually first saw the order and thought they were salads delivered to us by mistake. Who eats a bowl of raw spinach for breakfast? I assumed it would have been sauteed with the other veggies.I had two small bites and couldnt eat it. It was greasy and tasteless, and again, a bowl of almost entirely uncooked raw spinach thrown on top. After an employee, whom I assume to be a manager, stopped to ask us how we were doing, I told her of the issue. She told me they were out of potatoes, but were substituting hash browns and thus just must have forgot. How is a breakfast spot out of potatoes? And why are you still serving this if thats the case? Take it off the menu! She tried diligently to offer a solution. I didnt want nor trust any food items after that. Especially when there is a long line to place an order. Weekends can bring a 30 minute wait according to several signs in the business, and after 10 mins of being online to place the order, another 10 to get the (terrible) coffee, and then the food close to 10 mins after that, I wasnt waiting for more poor quality food from the kitchen. She then offered me a cookie. No joke. One, I cant have gluten nor eggs, which I told her. Two, 10 bucks for a bowl of spinach and you think a cookie will solve the problem?Again, she did try very hard and was very much trying to resolve the issue. She eventually gave in and said she would give us our money back for the food. Which I happily accepted. I hate wasting food, but I really could not eat it. I didnt even mention the horrible coffee. As a previous reviewer mentioned, it tasted like something akin to celery. I kept remarking, this doesnt even taste like coffee. It was the strangest thing. It was espresso based drink with milk, no sugar or syrups. Should have had a stronger, roasty coffee flavor. It literally did not even taste like coffee. And the milk, which was supposed to be half and half, also tasted like nothing. No smell or taste of even 2%. Very very strange. I drank it, hoping the caffeine would help me wake up a bit if nothing else. As a business that is coffee-focused, and in the freaking name, youd think theyd at least be able to get this part right! We got our money back for the food, which I appreciated and didnt even request. The coffee I cant forgive. I will never ever return. I dont know how a place like this stays afloat and as busy as it was. No doubt they will blame the pandemic, being short staffed, or whatever else. But I think its time to put out that CLOSED sign, permanently. This place is a total joke and should not be open for business. Ive had some rough hotel coffee, and even the random terrible coffee at Starbucks. But this by far was the worst cup of coffee I have ever been served. To call it pond water is sincerely not an exaggeration. The multiple trips to the bathroom after coming home confirms that.
They have so many gluten free options! I tried their GF bread today, I was blown away by how delicious it was. They have the best dirty chai in town, and the service is always great!I cant wait to try their GF pumpkin muffins.
2017 Review: When you are looking for local character and good quality - along with meeting a variety of other needs - Brewhemia checks all the boxes. Its a great place to meet business associates or friends, as it has diverse seating options. They offer a menu with a wide array of gourmet coffee, food, and other drink choices. I am regularly there for breakfast and enjoy their egg croissant sandwich or biscuits and gravy. For lunch, I have had their curry chicken sandwich. It isnt a strange sight to see someone sitting for hours here reading a book or doing work on their laptops. It is located in one of the richest cultural areas in downtown Cedar Rapids.2021 Update: Much of the above is still true except maybe there have been some menu changes since then and that I get the bacon burrito for breakfast there now.I love the burrito - its a great value, filling and flavorful. Comes with a homemade salsa and cream cheese in an environmentally friendly box when youre getting it to go.Brewhemia is the hottest breakfast and coffee game in town now, so a good life hack is using the order online feature before you go.
Very good coffee shop in downtown Cedar Rapids. The atmosphere is great. They have a variety of coffees and breakfast options. They also have non dairy milk options if your lactose intolerant. However pastries was OK.Update:Found some kind of paper or whatever it is in my cherry pastry. :/ Still giving the 4 stars but I hope they would work on their pastries and hygiene. ✌🏼
Excellent! The donuts are no joke, extremely good. Even though I’m a cake over yeast donut eater, I’d put these in the tops. Great service, good vibes, Lacon guided us well. Sharp!
Very cool place with a great menu! Breakfast tacos were amazing. Coffee was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved that they had upstairs seating which was perfect as a traveling family.
I had a great experience in the NewBro Market area trying local favorite Brewhemia. The staff was attentive and the food was served hot and quickly. I tried the Pulled Pork sliders and a cortado. Both elements of my lunch tasted as fantastic as they looked.I will definitely be trying more of their menu in the trips to come!
We were so bummed out they were closed for Mothers Day, really wanting to give them a try. And I dont normally review places I havent been, but I felt like they deserved 4 stars for their honesty in the voice-mail message explaining they rarely check them sobdont bother lol.
The food is always delicious & the people working there go above and beyond whats expected :)
Great food options if you have a limited diet and the coffee is tasty, too. A cornerstone of the Newbo neighborhood.
Love the food here. It IS a little higher priced for simple items but the quality is very good. I love the breakfast burritos, the breakfast pizza and the churro donuts with chocolate ganache dipping sauce.
Stellar coffee spot in Downtown Cedar Rapids. Medium roast is delicious: a rarity for most coffee shops. Grab a breakfast burrito, a cup, and hit up New Bo on a sunny weekend morning.
Every single time Ive had their food, it has been amazing. Only one time has there been an error and they were quick to fix it. The breakfast burritos are AMAZING. And those Churro donuts are too good for this world. Its a bit pricier, but always worth it.
Great food and coffee in a great space.
Very friendly staff! Drinks are delicious every time. They usually have a unique pastry in the pastry display case. Today I grabbed a Valentines monster cookie bar.
One of the best places for coffee and a small meal in Cedar Rapids. Its often packed full of people but it is often worth the wait. Vegan and gluten-free options. Polite and helpful staff. Overall good atmosphere. It can get loud and crowded. The prices are more than fair for the quality of coffee and food.
Coffee was great; baked goods didn’t taste freshly made.
The best breakfast burrito in the city! I ordered mine with bacon and chorizo. Fantastic!
This was my second time here and is was good both times
Always an awesome experience. Amazing food, coffee and especially amazing people who take such good care of us all❤
Everything was tasty and deliciousGreat staff and quick service
This place has some of the best food Ive ever had no lie. Their breakfast bowl is incredible and I just finished a chorizo burrito that was literally the best burrito Ive had in memory. Completely blows Chipotle and pancheros out of the water and this isnt even a burrito place. Cannot recommend it enough!!!!
Sweet, wonderful little place with excellent menu and service. Staff is super friendly and kind, willing to help out if there are any issues. Not only does it have coffee, but a well-stocked bar and excellent meal options. Not too pricey, and super great to go to. Clean and well-run, with a cozy and welcoming environment that is simply amazing. I enjoy coming here often.
Brewhemia set me up with a take-out breakfast catering package for my team on National Employee Appreciation Day.Short review: everything was spectacular.Details: Andrea helped me out ahead of time with the planning, even helping a Brewhemia first-timer (me) with the portion sizes and how to get based on the size of my team - how cool is that? The staff at pickup time was pleasant, helpful and got me on my way without delay. Everything was packaged up to stay hot (had about a 30 minute drive to get to work and into our building). The breakfast burritos and biscuits were substantial. My team raved about the flavor and quality. Andreas quantity planning was spot on, too. This is a classic case of the value of an engaged local business who knows what they are doing and takes obvious pride in being at their very best. Highly impressive, to say the least.Final analysis: I would and will absolutely choose Brewhemia again, hands-down, and without a second thought the next time I want to do a team breakfast.
Fantastic coffee and the breakfast burritos are some of the best around.
Excellent coffee and service. They had several dairy alternatives - oat, coconut, soy and almond. They also have 4 options of treats that were gluten free and dairy free (2 were vegan). It can be really hard to find df/gf coffee options on the road, but I go out of my way to come here on roadtrips because of their options and service!
I placed a to go order that was ready to be picked up before I arrived. Noticed their cute outdoor seating when I arrived so ended up staying and sitting outside. (Get the breakfast burrito...it was perfection.)
For a place called Brewhemia their coffee should taste much better and having a petulant 14 yr old take your order gets pretty tiring as well.Response: Ive been in several times. The barista Im referring to is a skinny blonde haired girl that isnt cable of smiling and treats customer with disdain. Sound familiar? Hope that helped!
Outstanding scene for tasty Cafe food. Visited at eight, it was not full. The service was sociable and attentive.
I love Brewhemia! The staff are friendly and cool. I love the croissant breakfast sandwiches- the ingredients are quality. They have an amazing hot sauce house made. Their daily food specials are super creative. I love how you can pour your own coffee, and all you have to do is put a dollar in the jar for a refill. The atmosphere is hip. Its the perfect place to get work done or catch up with friends. Highly recommend this spot.
Friendly staff and great food.
A real staple here in town, choose anything of their delectable menu, you wont be dissatisfied. Personally like the breakfast wraps/burrito. With a nice beverage....Top notch... from the staff to the atmosphere, the food & drink...its a destination you need to make a stop or a routine.
I liked it. Stopped by for a mid-afternoon caffeine kick. Had the dark roast, Bohemian Night? maybe. Was excellent! Will stop by again knowing they have beers and food in the evening!
Brewhemia is a treasure of Cedar Rapids. My wife and I have been visiting semi regularly (would be more often if we didnt have to travel 15-20 minutes to get there) for years. The people here care about the quality of their food and more importantly the espresso and coffee. Granted, there have been an occasional mess up, but we were always helped with any issues.
Went for the coffee not realizing they had a breakfast and lunch menu. Food was excellent! Everything is cooked fresh to order. Biscuits and gravy are very good; breakfast burritos are stuffed full of eggs, cheese, beans and your choice of meat (chorizo was really good, made in-house). Extensive coffee drink menu. Also serve beer and wine! Something for everyone.
This place is amazing!! Best breakfast burrito ever! I also recommend the the breakfast bowls (Mother Earth). If your vegan or vegetarian they will make to satisfy your need!

Love coming home to Cedar Rapids and stopping for a coffee here. The coffee shop itself is adorable. The coffee is always wonderful. I e had some of their food offerings and they were also great.
You can’t go wrong with Brewhemia! Coffee, good. Food, good. Service, good!
My favorite coffee place in town and great food as well and owned by some of the pioneers and entrepreneurs of our community pushing for progress!
Coffee is decent. A little too pricey
Great food great prices and very friendly service we will definitely be back
The coffee is high quality and tastes like it. The tell-tale sign of a good brewing technique The only reason I didnt give this place a full five stars is the seating situation, which can be cumbersome if you have a group of more than two people. Seating is on a first come, first served basis here. This wouldnt be an issue, except for the people who come here with their laptops to work on a Sunday and take up a six-person table by themselves... I understand that Brewhemia itself might have a hard time regulating this
This is one of my favorite coffee shops in town! Their atmosphere is really cool and their coffee and food are excellent. I definitely recommend this cute coffee shop!
Super excellent service
I have been there many times. The staff is quick and very friendly. Wonderful, warm atmosphere. There is a quinoa veggie wrap and other vegetarian options. A great locally owned establishment for our community.
The atmosphere is always open and easygoing. The staff are kind and helpful. Coffee is nothing short of amazing. A definite go-to coffee shop for anyone in the downtown Cedar Rapids area. :D
One of the few places to get coffee early Sunday morning. Excellent coffee!
We got the Breakfast burrito and breakfast pizza. Both were delicious! Ordered online, and picked up in the vestibule. Very safe and easy!
This place is the absolute bomb. The atmosphere is lovely. The coffee is probably my favorite coffee ever.. the taste and the latte art designs. The food is always fresh, delicious and cooked perfectly. One of my favorite places to eat in the area.
I ordered a large hot mocha when I got it omg! It was the small size cup and tasted like celery paid over 5$. I will stick with Starbucks. 🤨
This place is fantastic. You can get coffee drinks that are super great, it always had a solid local beer selection and both the breakfast and lunch selection is great. It can get a bit busy so I would recommend going during non prime hours. Its definitely hipster and is a regular stop for my family and I.
Charming and lively spot with great atmosphere. When you walk in you notice the high ceilings and charismatic decor. I also noticed there was plenty of seating and natural light during the day. The chili i had was delicious and the service friendly. Would return and recommend.
Rude staff, could literally hear her talking about customers right in front of them. Apparently hates her job.
Lovely little coffee shop across from the Newbo market. Decorated with local art on the inside, with hand crafted tables. Their coffee drinks are excellent, you cant go wrong with any of them. I also tried the avocado toast, which you can choose what you want on top. Fresh veggies and flavorful sourdough.
Limited seating at times but that means that they are always business. Great food selection! I also enjoy the environment.
Love Brewhemia! They have fantastic food and drinks. Their online ordering and no contact pick up are perfect during this pandemic.
When I business travel throughout Iowa I always make time to stop in. My favorite CR coffe stop!
Loved the setting, the vibe and the staff. The espresso was a showstopper. We’re the dark roast sort who find the under roasted beans to have an objectionable flavor. Disappointing but glad the place was filled with happy customers. We visited the nearby competition with 5 star results.
I primarily come here for lunch and the staff is wonderful, food delicious and service prompt. Great coffee, rotating menu items - you cant beat it. Love the atmosphere in here too. Great place for a quiet afternoon coffee.
My favorite coffee shop in Iowa and one of my favorite coffee shops in general. Everyone is always extremely friendly, and just great in general! Amazing coffee, I highly recommend the Bohemian. Really good atmosphere for working on your computer, just bring headphones!Edit: If I could add extra stars for each of the wonderful baristas, I would give them more than 10 stars!! Lakin, Olivia, Rachel, and Hadley are great people who really make the experience that much better!
Really enjoy every drink I have had here. Food Ive tried has been great too. Staff is always friendly and they have live music fairly often. Atmosphere is fun and trendy. Great place to stop for a coffee, tea, or local beer.
Cute coffee house with good food. Biscuits taste homemade and of course the coffee is great. Cinnamon roll was ok but everything else was delicious.
I have never eaten at Brewhemia but their coffee drinks are amazing. The service is very friendly and quick, and the overall atmosphere of the place is inviting and comfortable. We will definitely be making frequent visits as we are new to the downtown area!
Great atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. All of the food Ive tried so far has been really good and I appreciate their use of environmentally friendly products.
Great food and coffee. Love this place
Only spot I have found so far in Iowa when visiting home to get good or real coffee as well as try other new things. Very tasty! Had the cold brew coffee and Pineapple, Coconut Kiwi kombucha today. Delicious
Amazing sandwich and chips. I had the Turkey Confetta. So good!!! My son had parmesan encrusted grilled cheese. He loved it!!! Fun coffee shop with lots of natural light.
Cool hip coffee shop in Cedar Rapids. Came to town for an interview and stopped here for some chill time beforehand. Got the raspberry bar and a chai. Both great. Good relaxing environment and nice staff. Would definitely recommend. Gives a nice vibe for the city.
Good coffee. Amazing biscuits and gravy (and I am really picky). Atmosphere is good. I wish they opened earlier than 7 during the week. Parking is easy and free. Selection of coffee syrups and types of milk are more limited than many places though. Friendly staff.
One of my favorite coffee shops to do work in. Love the lattes. The food is delicious. I can always find a small table with a plug in. The neighborhood is great for picking up a few special items since there are lots of trendy shops nearby.
The food and service here was amazing! Their pancakes were really good and the employees genuinely cared if I was having a good experience. Ate here for a work place team meeting and this was the perfect venue. This place is worth a try!
They get their coffee from Ross Street Roasters which is my favorite! Food is good too. Great place.
I always love coming here to soak in the atmosphere and the food. Their burritos are best in the country
In town a few days for work. I should have come here first for coffee instead of the other shops I went to, but at least Im leaving town on a great note.Best cappuccino in Cedar Rapids, full stop. Not scalding hot, the milk floated in the coffee not foamed up on top, and only one available size (small)... the way its supposed be. I also appreciate the paper cup. Maybe Im a coffee snob, but these guys do it right.Well done Brewhemia. Youll be my only coffee stop the next time Im in town.
Great place for breakfast in CR. Staff could work on their vibe. Be kind and patient, dont be too cool for school! Some of us are not trendy, just chubby midwesterners who dont know what the heck they want;)
Excellent food, on-time and friendly service!
Brewhemia, has a really nice atmosphere, the coffee is good if you like a bit of nutty flavor. The food is good but portions a bit small. I enjoy going there for breakfast or lunch.
This place is amazing! I accidentally left my laptop... and the owners met me at 8pm (after closing hours) so I could pick it up. True, lovely Midwest customer service! Also, the coffee is amazing!!!
I like to come here with a friend or two and have a conversation. The place is stylish but simple and the coffee is delicious. It is usually busy with people coming in and out, but for me, it is comfortable and my friends and I can talk here.
