Everything here is delicious. It is a Cedar Rapids staple and iconic location with the airplane on the roof and airplane decorations throughout the inside. They have fantastic hot dogs, gyros, burgers and appetizers. The French fries are unique and tasty as well. What a great place to eat, especially on a nice day outside sitting on their outdoor patio in the front. I definitely recommend having lunch here.
Great food and service not only hot dogs the chicken dumplings was great. Real hand cut potatoes for the fries. Great place and location. Parking out back outside and inside seats. Looks small on outside but decent seating inside. Bring quarter as old school video games as well. Cool place great food.
I had heard so much about this place and was NOT disappointed. The Chicago dog was exactly what you would expect. Just like any Chicago street vendor hot dog. I would HIGHLY recommend the hot Italian sausage. My wife and I shared the sausage and it was incredible! We will definitely go again and try the brats too!

If youve never had a gyro and fries here, can you really say youve experienced a gyro? I didnt think so.This is a must when in Cedar Rapids. Where else can you go for great good than a building with a plane on the roof?
Customer service and friendliness get 5 stars. Felt welcome here.But, Italian beefs come with nacho cheese...no other cheese option. No sweet peppers here. Not my favorite.Fries are ok if they are fresh.No lettuce here.Cheeseburgers come with an abundance of nacho cheese.Chicken and dumplings, meh.

Meh. It was a tepid dog in a gritty hot dog joint, nothing to write home about. Not bad but not worth the high ticket price. Over $20 for two fountain drinks and two hot dogs. (1 chili cheese and one 1/4lb) Staff friendly enough but that is the only plus.
Ive been to this restraunt several times in the last few years and the food has always been quite good and for a moderate price. The cashier/ owner is a bit abrasive but In my experience he is making an effort to engage with his customers and improve the experience.

The Flying Weenie is one of a kind. If you are in the CeDUH Rapids, Iowa area, it is simply a MUST STOP to eat! Authentic Chicago Dogs, Italian Sausages (which the owner grinds, seasons, and stuffs himself), gyros, home made fries, and everything else on the menu is to die for! A job moved us away from the area, the great flood came in 2008 - but the Gods saved this place from flood waters and it it still alive, well, and delicious as ever!What a treat after 11 years away! Reasonably priced Everything made fresh to order, so it could take a little time, but your patience will be rewarded and your taste buds will thank you!Cant miss it. Fashioned out of an old gas and service station, and an airplane crashed on the roof. Brightly colored. Did not appear handicap friendly as far as wheelchairs go. But everything else should be good!

We found this place years ago and it has been our go-to for one primary sandwich - their Italian beef. Just had it again tonight and had to post a review. We both ordered the Italian beef. I got the full sandwich, the spouse got the half sandwich with fries. Both sandwiches were ordered wet. I cut 1/3 of my full sandwich and give to her, she gives me half of her fries. We have NEVER been disappointed with their Italian beef. It is consistently excellent!
Most unique restaurant visually in town. Should be on your list of things to do if visiting. Chicago dogs are very good. Try the gyro also very good. Thumbs up!

Went in for lunch, great menu, authentic chicago dogs, some of the best fresh cut fries Ive ever had and plenty of choices to satisfy and palette. I ordered a brat, its a 10 minute wait but worth every second. It was a foot long work of art extending out of each end of the golden fresh baked bun.

My three year old loved his corn dog that he ate half of. He also enjoyed sharing the tasty home cut fries and perfectly cooked onion rings. I had a tasty italian beef, was moist and tender!! My fiance enjoyed the double play hot dog special. Quite tasty.

The Flying Weenie has been a long-standing faborite of ours. Their Italian beef sandwiches are an incredible. A mountain of perfectly cooked roast beef piled high on a fresh bun. A generous helping of peppers (make sure to specify: mild, medium, or hot). Weve been going to to the Weenie for more than a decade and they have never failed to please! The decor is fun - its not about elegance (but it has always been clean). What the Weenie is about is quality food served in generous portions. If youve never been to the Weenie, youre missing a real treat! If you are not from Cedar Rapids and are here on business or just visiting, make sure you hit the Weenie before heading home. Not fancy, just down to earth fantastic.
I mean...Ive never had a bad Italian beef here and the hot giardiniera is nice and hot, not just in name only. Fries are good, also.

Went here with my wife and loved it! The meat was really good quality and wait time was quick. As someone born in Chicago I can truthfully say their Chicago Dog was on point to the ones I had as a kid. All in all 5 stars!

Arrived at 7pm and door was open and when I walked in to order anything to try them out I was told the place was closed. Customers still present. I was open to try anything as I was a first time customer. Sorry were closed. How hard is it to throw together a Hot Dog. Well with that kind of customer service business must be so good that they can kick a potential customer to the curb. They will be on my list of never visit and never recommend

People here are great. The food was pretty good too. The only thing about the food that I didnt give 5 stars is that I would have preferred my pita for my gyro be a little more crispy. Otherwise everything was fantastic. Since I know that now I will order the pita Well done the next time. Just a personal preference.
Delicious like always. Ive been coming here for years. The staff is awesome, yeah its a little hole in the wall. But it is a great place to sit down and eat. And they survived the flood and came back.

Great food, great atmosphere, one of downtown CRs staple restaurants. That being said, its a little on the pricey side for what it is and there are almost always two people max working there, and there is a certain coldness to the way they operate. Not sure what it would be or if I could even pinpoint it, but its more interesting than poor performance.

Usually like this place. But the last time we were there I ordered a double hamburger and it was so dried out over cooked. Ordered the sampler appatizer where you got 2 of each the chicken was also dried out the breaded mushroom was under cooked. And I got one medium onion ring and the 2nd was the size of a nickle. Very disappointed for the money I spent I could have gotten more better food at McDonalds.
