My friend, her son, and I went paddle boarding for the afternoon. The people were so helpful with our rental, had the straps and blocks needed for us to transport the boards, and even helped us secure them on top of our cars. It was our first time paddle boarding, and it went so smoothly. We had fun and can’t wait to try it again!!!! Highly recommend them!

Quality brands. Quality employees. So many neat and unique things to see. And the owners were there the day before Christmas Eve happy and eager to help me find my wifes perfect gift. Impressive. Ive really enjoyed my experience every time Ive come to the store. I just purchased a Fjall Raven Winter coat on Christmas Eve. Two days later, I had put it on with some extra layers and the XL was TOO big still. I came back to do an exchange for a smaller size, no questions asked. The gentleman even remembered me and was extremely accommodating. They are really fun to work with and I am thankful they are in CR. Great selection of AWESOME gear too!

Love this place. Seems like they have pretty much everything I might need, they even had bear spray! Good variety of things that matter like clothing and shoes, and the best options of more niche items like dehydrated meals and other camping/backpacking goods. Check em out, highly recommended.

Always impressed with this place. I have gotten a variety of items ranging from my backpacking backpack, freeze dried food, hiking socks, jeans and shirts, winter gloves. You name it, I have probably gotten it from here.There have been two times I’ve had to order petite size jeans. Cortney helped me both times ordering Prana jeans in the sizes I needed and colors I preferred. Loved this place! Helped me pick out my gear for hiking when Im doing landscape photography. The brands are all nice, and every article of clothing are both comfy and fits just right!

My first ever visit to the store was amazing. I was very impressed with the selection of outdoor apparel. The staff (Cortney) was very knowledgeable about the inventory and was simultaneously helping 3-4 customers with ease. Their climbing equipment stock was low at the moment, but that was due to high demand after the DeRacho storm. I will definately be returning.

Great customer service. My company likes to shop local when possible and Cortney made this happen! We were able to purchase a large amount of name brand sweaters for our employees as gifts and we couldnt be happier with our purchase. We will definitely continue business with this great local shop!

SOKO is a wonderful gift to the local outdoor community. I have been in quite a few times and it seems every staff member is knowledgeable about the products they carry, and when they cant answer my questions they either find someone who can, or we research together.They have great deals that I get emails about and even host some fun events for community. All in all, great staff and great service. I will be returning!

The interiors of this place are bright and engaging; theres plenty to look at and fall in love with, even for the less-seasoned camper/outdoors-person. Chief among the attractions is the rock wall set up, which is incredibly approachable, setup-wise, and makes it easy to perk up a shopping trip with a quick, low-stress go at the wall.

So much fun! Climbed the rock wall on Thursday and rented snow shoes and poles for a great trail walk today! And they have such a large inventory of all the best outdoor clothing brands and gear! I highly recommend this place!

The best place for outdoor gear in Cedar Rapids! High quality mens & womens coats, jackets, sweaters/fleece and shoes etc. Theres a climbing wall right inside the front door. The associate mentioned it has routes for beginners to experienced climbers. They have a good sized section dedicated to camping gear, kayaks, climbing and packs as well as a small section of kids gear. Highly recommend!

Wow! Customer service is amazing! They carry local and unique brands and everything you need for all your adventurous needs. They carry a huge selection of staples brands (like Patagonia and The North Face and yeti and hydro flask) but also carry unique items that other stores don’t offer!

Nice store for high end outdoor clothing

I went to SOKO Outfitters for the first time earlier this year and it was AMAZING! They carry a lot of brands that I love to satisfy my inner VSCO girl with- Patagonia, Fjallraven, HydroFlask, etc. The staff was SO helpful as well. It’s such a clean and inviting place! I love everything that SOKO Outfitters stands for. I’m going to start kayaking and hiking this Spring/Summer so I’m excited to see what they have to offer around that time!

I was suprised how nice and large this place is inside! Lots of high end trekking, camping, and other outdoor gear. I think the prices are comparable to other similar stores, but expect to pay high prices for high quality.

First went last fall during the Cider Sip and Shop, and was so excited to have a local outdoors shop in the area. Prices were very high, but that is to be expected. The customer service that night was amazing! Since then, it hasn’t been the same. On my most recent visit, my friend from out of town and I were the only customers, and both felt we were unwanted in the store. We were constantly watched by the owner/manager, as if he didn’t trust us. We felt very uneasy. The woman working there also talked me out of some hiking shoes that I was interested in, without a recommendation for a different pair. Only explained why those shoes would not be what I was looking for. Maybe we didn’t fit the profile of people that normally shop there, but I definitely do not want to return.————————-EDIT: I recently returned in search of a good pair of hiking shoes. I was pleasantly surprised with their selection, which in my opinion had even better variety than Scheel’s in Coralville. This time we had a pleasant young lady help us, who was kind and helpful. I had no problem paying a little extra for my shoes to support a local business. Glad I gave SOKO another chance.

Love this store. Pricey but a great store

I visited Soko 12/14/19, per my email they were offering 25% off a single item full price. I found a pair of boots I wanted and a very nice guy helped me with sizing.When I went to check out the woman at the register (receipt said Cortney, who is one of their store managers) rang up my item full priced. I asked about the 25% off and she told me it’s only if we ask for it (which I did get them 25% off). I suggested it would be nice to have everyone get that discount instead of “asking for it”. She then proceeded to tell me and I quote “Do you know how much money I’m losing today?”So here it is:1. I don’t care2. Do you really say that to a customer?3. I will not be going backIf that is not enough:She was also complaining about not having enough staff and the “rock wall is killing her” due to having a staff member tied up with working the wall. Smh, see ya Soko.

SOKO is a sweet addition to the Newbo/Czech Village neighborhood and just CR in general. AND conveniently popped up just in time for me to start looking at what I will need for my upcoming backpacking trip. My husband and I found the perrrrfect backpack. The climbing wall is a pretty dope bonus too. Very helpful staff.
