My truck broke down on the highway. I had just picked up my infant from daycare. We were escorted off of the highway by a police officer because it was an extremely dangerous situation. AAA scheduled a tow truck but told me that they wouldn’t pick it up unless we were present. I requested a supervisor to speak to. He essentially told me that my only option was to either abandon my vehicle, leave my infant home alone or put my infant into my other vehicle and return to the location that the police officer told me was too dangerous to wait at. I have since come to understand by this wonderful tow truck drivers own word that there are several other AAA tow truck services in my area that will pick up my car without me being present. AAA would apparently rather have you put yourself and children at risk than take the time to find a reasonable solution. I am in awe of how badly this service has declined. My whole family has used AAA for as long as I can remember. I have never been more disappointed in my life and their lack of willingness to make the situation. They have lost all of our business for good. AAA you suck.

My husband and 1 year old broke down on the side of the highway, during rush hour traffic, today 5:15 pm, in the middle of June. I called for him to get a tow, I told them my young child was in the car and she marked the pick up as Urgent. I proceeded to meet them at the break down site and pick them up as I wasn’t going to let my husband and young child sit there. As no one should. When I got the text update about 45 minutes later, it was the wrong pick up location. So I called to change it, when I did so, the dispatch informed me I had to be there when the driver got there, and it could be “between now and 8:05pm” which was two hours by the way. I said no, why would anyone, especially a baby be expected to sit in a broke down, hot car on the side of a busy highway? He had no answer and I repeated the situation about 3 times, thinking he would see the error in this situation. Then he said I just needed to be there at the time of pick up which on my text was 8:35-8:50 pm. (Luckily we have another mode of transportation but I wonder how many other people don’t… how could they manage to get back to the broke down vehicle?) Since I was unsatisfied with that dispatch’s answer, I called back to verify and the new dispatch was much nicer and understood my frustration. She put me on hold for about 25 minutes and talked with her supervisor, they came to the conclusion that I did, in fact have to be there for the pick up. And depending on the company who actually tows the vehicle, sometimes they don’t require someone to be there but my tow truck driver did require it. So I voiced my frustration and told her I wanted the situation to be on the record. My husband left and drove with our second vehicle to meet the truck driver. When he got back about 30 minutes later, he said the truck driver yelled out and told him he was in the way and he didn’t need to be there at all. So did the other two people at triple A even call and find out? I’m extremely disappointed and frustrated with this company and its policies. The male dispatch literally couldn’t have cared less about requesting I sit on the side of a busy highway in a broken down truck with my 1 year old. Very disappointing. When my husband called on his way back him he voiced the same concerns to a supervisor over the phone, he asked the supervisor if sitting in the truck with a baby on the side of a busy highway made sense to him, he said, and I quote “Well” then a long pause and said “is there anything else I can do for you?”. My husband said if you’re satisfied with the help you’ve offered me, then I guess not. And the supervisor said yes he was satisfied. I just cannot believe any of this.

We went in and booked an Amtrak train trip with Fran Wilder in April. Her assistant was Breona Caldwell. I have sent Fran two emails about our tickets in the past week and have never heard back from her. I finally called Amtrak Vacations today. They emailed me my tickets while I was still on the phone with them. The very nice and professional lady at Amtrak Vacations said the tickets were sent to Fran Wilder on May 19. I find it to be completely unprofessional for Fran Wilder to have never sent me the tickets. I will not book another trip with AAA Carolina/Charleston in the West Ashley office. I miss Christy, she was my agent there for several years and did a marvelous job. You are probably better off booking your own trip rather than counting on this office to follow through.

My car ran hot on a Sunday and no shops were open. I called AAA for a tow and decided to use their local Car Care Center, as recommended by the customer service rep I spoke to. Of course I looked under the hood and saw I was out of coolant, but AAA doesnt top off on the roadside, and I had no way to get any, so I had it towed. I figured I would go ahead and get my headlamp replaced as well, as it was burned out. I told the guy on the phone when he called me Monday morning that I needed a coolant top off and a bulb replaced. After the diagnostic was ran, I was quoted $699 to get it up and running. I knew I had a leak, as fluid doesnt just disappear, but I didnt have the money to fix it and knew that going in-thats why I asked for a top off and a bulb change. After 3 phone calls, breaking down in tears, and telling them I would just have it towed home and it would have to sit until I had more money, all of a sudden its only going to cost $28 which was the cost to top it off, like I originally asked for. Interesting that before they knew I couldnt pay, it was going to be $699 to get it up and running. When I arrive to pick up my vehicle, the price is now $136, not the $28 quoted on the phone for the top off. The rest of the money was for the diagnostic, which I didnt need nor ask for. So for $136 they topped my coolant off. Headlamp is still out. I am a 45 year old single female on a very limited income, and these guys flat out lied to me and tried to take me for a $699 ride. Will NEVER use again.

I gave them a 1 star since there was no option for zero stars. This location is a rip-off. My 24yr old daughters car was hit on the back wheel by another. It was drivable but just to be of the safe side I called the aaa tow truck to be towed to aaa and have it checked out. I called the aaa and explained to them that i just need for them to check the wheel and axle to make sure there is no damage and that my daughter will need the car back asap to get to/from musc. This was early morning so he promised he would get iit looks at and get me the estimate by 10am and told him that i would be the point of contact since i own the car and my daughter will be in class/lab. They didnt call me and instead sent a vehicle report with appx $600 of repairs. Battery, air filter, fuel system, alignment and rotation. So i called them and he said there was no damage on the wheel but the all the other stuff needs to be done. He talked me into doing rotation/alignment and replace battery. I told him that since my daughter needs the car by the end of the day i will only agree to have that done if he can get the car to her by them. He promised they would do it. Of course they didnt until mid next day so my daughter had to spend $80+ on uber.A couple of weeks later when my daughter came to visit us, i noticed that the back left wheel that had been hit by the other car had minor scratches. The wheel was in the same back left position telling me that they did not do the tire rotation but did charge for it.I called them and they were initially adamant that they did do the rotation. But when i asked them to explain why the wheel with scratches was in the same position, they changed their tune and asked me to bring the car in and they can do. I asked to speak with the manager but he was not available so they said he would call me when he was available. I tried to Call him twice but was never available and would never call me back. I went ahead disputed the credit card charge for the rotation.I have had aaa membership continuously since 1991. Losing all faith in aaa.

Ive been with AAA for 5+ years. Never had an issue until I moved to SC. My policy kept going up every quarter, despite my loyalty program, discounts. All I got was its your zip code. Finally got a new car, insurance would have gone up another thousand a year....yeah Im good. John Austin has always been my insurance guy (which hes great) and I guess he is not there anymore? I got someone else, which is fine. I decided to go with another company for insurance and have tried to call the 1800 number multiple times to cancel and get looped around. I called the Charleston location 3 or 4 times and an agent is never there. I left messages, never got called back. I finally decided to go in today since they are open till 4pm. Lady up front said they were supposed to be there...to no avail. Finally called the summerville location and someone gave me a different number. Called and finally got it canceled in 3 mins. Thanks Victoria by the way. I get it, no company wants to loose business, but this just upset me.

If it wasnt for their roadside service, I probably would have nothing to do with them. Their towing services are great, but I believe that may independent of this actual branch until the car is brought to the premises. After that, the quality of service deteriorates rapidly. This level of disorganization and confusion is troubling, especially when motor vehicles are involved. Also, these people dodge phone calls like no other.

1. Despite having an appointment, and watching the technicians shuffle around the cars, and take multiple breaks at 9am, it took over 2 hours to have my oil changed.2. Dec. 17, 2019 I hit an object in the middle of I-95 at 8pm and totaled my car. It took an hour for AAA Roadside to respond to my call for assistance, and another hour for a tow truck to arrive and tow me 25 miles to an exit with a motel. I was 115 miles away from home/Charleston. I called AAA Insurance again in the morning for guidance on the next steps and was initially told that an agent would call me back within 48 hours. It wasnt until I broke down on the phone due to being stranded, alone, and due back to work from my vacation on Thursday that the operator found me a claims agent. I was told that they didnt have relationships with mechanics in GA, and that I was outside of the coverage area to be towed to Charleston. His suggestion was that I leave my damaged car in the parking lot of the motel until they could find a mechanic willing to look at it. I wound up calling my brother who came down with a trailer and towed it back to my hometown while borrowing my Dads truck in the interim. Thankfully I did because it took 32, yes THIRTY TWO days for my claim to be processed, and to receive a check for my totaled car. The initial claims agent could barely answer any of the questions I had because this was the first accident Id ever been in. He told me that there would probably be a delay due to the holidays before someone in the total loss division could help me. I did call my local agent, and was able to get answers for several of my questions. I declined the rental car portion of my policy as I was told it would affect my insurance in the future. The total loss agent called me the Friday before Christmas at 4:30pm to tell me that my car was totaled, and offer me a payout. I asked for additional money due to the 4 2 week old tires on the car. I sent her the requested receipt Monday morning, and didnt hear back from her again for a full week despite two emails to check on the status of my claim. Her next phone call magically reduced the offer price for my claim by over $100 while telling me that she had increased it due to the tires. I was able to argue the price up to cover half of the cost of the tires. After agreeing to the price and immediately sending in the paperwork she stopped responding to my calls and emails. I never heard from her again. My local agent did call after multiple emails and calls to his office, and told me the check would be there soon. Thirty-two days after my accident I was finally able to move forward with purchasing a replacement. Additional questions via email regarding my new car policy and my homeowners policy with AAA have been met with I dont know, and no response. I gave up on AAA and moved both policies to State Farm where I received better coverage for less money. When I stopped by the AAA storefront this Tuesday at 10am to request the cancellation paperwork there wasnt a single insurance agent on duty, and all the receptionist could tell me was I guess theyre all running late.STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHAM OF AN INSURANCE AND CAR CARE COMPANY!!! Its not worth your money or the stress, headaches, and hoops.

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!! I should have read the reviews before I agreed to have my car repaired by this AAA as numerous people have had the same experience I had. Been a AAA member for over 18 years and had my car taken here to have the alternator changed at AAA recommendation. After waiting all day and being lied to twice about it being in the shop I finally got my car back but to my dismay halfway down the highway I realized had not been put back together properly leaving me with more damage.Eric the manager responded to my email of the damage and had not a clue that I had my alternator changed as his response was explaining to me that these pieces did not need to be removed for an oil change when I have never gotten my oil changed there EVER. So I responded to him explaining that my alternator is under my car as it is a foreign car so those pieces do in fact need to be taken off to do the repair. He quickly responded that he was given the wrong information and I was correct they would need to be removed, (why am I telling the car repair place about cars?) but maybe a little research as to what you are talking to a customer who’s car was damaged while in your possession was necessary. Just a thought. He responded by asking me to get a quote for the repair so I went to a AAA certified body shop to get the quote and sent it back and all of a sudden my car was not damaged by them and they would pay $250 of the $1000 repair. They claimed they had pictures of my car and it was already damaged when it arrived to them. As any intelligent person would do, who has been lied to multiple times at this point, by this company I responded asking for those pictures because if that was indeed the case and I didn’t know then this would be a different discussion. Here we are 4 weeks later and I have yet to receive any pictures of this damage or of my car at all from them and I have asked every day for two weeks for them so I can get my car repaired. I asked again today to no avail as most correspondence from Eric come right before 6 when they close so he does not have to deal with it I assume. AAA does not stand behind there name or service and I will not be keeping my AAA any longer as it is just a huge rip off. Sad AAA can’t get it together and be a responsible company and I’m sorry for anyone else who has to go through this but hopefully this review will help you stay clear of the impending headache that AAA causes. Just take it to Gerald’s, wish I would have.

Had my car towed here due to symptoms of a failing alternator. It was “tested” and “passed” and diagnosed as simply a dead battery. Also had a brake light that was “out”...it wasn’t. Paid the diagnostic fee and replaced my own battery as it was still under warranty. I still had the same symptoms of a bad alternator (whining noise on start up and low gears). Took it back to the dealer and it failed their test as well as the new battery already being near dead. Don’t appreciate being lied to and argued with over what was obviously the issue.

My car has been in the shop for 5 days now with the Mt. Pleasant AAA care care center. I took it there on the advice of a mechanic co-worker who told me I would not make it to Atlanta from Charleston. I took it to the AAA shop last Thursday afternoon to have it diagnosed. They had two mechanics look at it right away and tell me that they have to open up the top half of the engine. Since then, the top half of my engine has gone to the machine shop, worked on, and sent back to the AAA shop. I was supposed to pick it up first thing this morning but got a call last night that after it was put back together and tests were run on it, there was a noise heard and they have to find out what it is. Im still waiting to hear what the noise is, or why its still there. I am also still waiting to go home to Atlanta as I do not live in Charleston. They have been attentive to my calls and even called me last night to give me heads up about the warning. Also threw in a free oil change. Im happy with the communication just disappointed at the amount of time this is taking. Adam, at the front desk, has been great & has kept up communication along the way.

When I first located them on the website, under their qualifications Transmission Repair was one of them. So I made an appointment online and stated that my transmission was malfunctioning. They confirmed my appointment so assumed all was well. When I arrived at my appointment the building was a MAD HOUSE there were people running all over the place (evidently they do Auto Care, Travel, Insurance, and Lord knows what else under that one roof). I had to wait a solid 5 minutes before anyone would even approach me. When someone finally did, it was almost like I was bothering them. After I told him I was there to figure out what was wrong with my transmission he said, We dont do transmissions here. So I responded, It says on the website you do and I stated it in my appointment email that my transmission was malfunctioning. He said, I dont know what to tell you, but I guess we can take a look at it. So I reluctantly said OK and decided to get my oil changed as well (Since he said with my AAA membership the oil change would only be $26). After they called and told me it was ready, I came to pick up my vehicle. When I arrived (hours after they told me it was ready) it was still in the garage with the hood up. They said they were just topping off some things and it would only be a minute. 20 minutes and $150 later it was finally ready. Not even sure where they $150 came from if it was only $26 for the oil change and all they did in addition was top off my trans. fluid and told me what was wrong. When I got in my car there was grease all over the door handle and steering wheel. I went to double check my fluids and the cap for the break fluid wasnt even screwed on, it was just sitting on top.I try to only give positive reviews when I give them, but in this case it was impossible. Overall I have been happy with my AAA membership and its perks. However, I can say without a doubt, I will never return to this shop for ANYTHING.

Fixed my daughters tire problem on her Prius and did so at competitive prices along with excellent customer service - plus I was dealing long distance with them and they made it easy. Thank you Theo.

120 dollars LABOR To Put on a new serpentine belt.. Plus the belt was 170 total. ReallY not happy but had no choice. Will avoid all AAA car places rest of my life. My shop would of charged no more than 100 total. Very unhappy with the cost.

This was the second time I used AAA for my vehicle repairs. I first took my car to the Walmart Service Center because of a severe oil leak. Walmart diagnosed leaks from the oil pan, several places on the engine, and around the oil plug. They said they couldnt repair it. I took it to AAA the next day. They put it on the rack and discovered that I had a hole in the oil filter. In less than an hour and $34 later, I was back on the road with an oil change and a new oil filter.AAA is fair and HONEST. Something you dont find often in the automobile repair business. I have already recommended AAA to my family as well as several of my friends.

Tried getting Disney World Tickets because they are supposed to be at a discounted price. The lady we spoke with completely lied and gave us pricing of about $100 more than what the actual Disney website shows. She tried to say it was due to taxes but its still $100 cheaper when we check out online at Disneys website. Shiesty.

The service was done timely and took care of the problem. AAA is the place where my wife and I take her car for all service work.

I received substandard service from AAA Car Care Center located at Sam Rittenberg Boulevard I received a standard oil change. The car care consultant gave me a list of recommendations of services that I will need in the future. Afterwards, I drove out of town assuming everything with my vehicle was up to standards. 4 days later inspected my car because of an odd sound and smell. During my check, I noticed that the transmission dip stick/plug was not replaced. There was transmission fluid all over the engine because of the missing plug. In addition to the transmission problem, I also noticed that my coolant levels were well below the minimum.

It all started with a $14.95 AC checkup coupon. Had some intermittent AC issues so took it in with my coupon in hand. Was told the coupon was only for putting gauges on it, which I had already done at home. Asked what it would be for a complete diagnostic check and they said $89. They called me to come get my car and said they had to flush the system and ended up costing more like $120 but they assured me it was fixed. Next day, intermittent issues again. I called them a couple days later and they told me to bring it in no charge. Then called me and said they identified the leaks. Apparently when they flushed the system, i was paying for them to put dye in there and find leaks. Contrary to what they first told me, this is all I paid for. No electrical check of the system at all, which is where I believe the problem is. They went on to say that if I wanted an electrical check, it would be another $120. And Mike talked to me like I was an idiot. I will never go back.
