Great service! Squeezed me in at the last hour of business between 4 and 5. Very affordable mechanics around the area by far. Brake job across the street wanted me to use there parts and insist on calibers and rotors for no less then 400 bucks. I bought the brake pads and oil right next door at auto zone and save half ability paying 140 after tax. This guys are life savers! Especially considering the 20% spike inflation this past week, especially with gas. 😒

They took a look at my car without an appointment and did a quick diagnosis on my car, let me know in minutes what was wrong. They didn’t charge me anything to take a look. They were quick, nice, and professional. It ended up being my check engine light needed to be reset after my oil change and it wasn’t. It was a nice piece of mind. Thanks again guys!

Definitely recommend! While on a trip with students from our church to Folly, a freon line busted on a 15 passenger minibus. These vehicles are notorious for a/c problems and when the a/c worked prior, it is mediocre at best. After dropping the bus off, not only did they replace the broken line, but took the time to dig deeper and figure out why the line busted and repaired the cause. In the end, the a/c works better than it ever has. So much so that on the way home, we had to turn the air off in mid August because the inside had gotten so cold.To top it off, when we arrived to pick up the bus from Folly Road Auto Repair, we were driving our other 15 passenger minibus. We mentioned how much colder the bus he repaired was compared to the one that we drove up in. So, Joey diagnoses and fixes it right then and there, free of charge. You can not find a nicer shop with more knowledgeable techs. These guys could easily take advantage of vulnerable tourists, yet they extend care and kindness to customers they will likely never see again as well as locals.

Absolutely wonderful service. Had a fantastic experience with Joey and his crew. Had driven down to Charleston for the day. Our first stop was Folly Beach. Our Excursion broke down. I Google searched for a local mechanic and saw all the good reviews for this shop. Had our vehicle towed to them. He told me that he thought it was a fuel pump and quoted me a price. Understanding that I really didnt have a choice I told him to fix it. I was curious so I called my mechanic back home to see if the price was fair. Folly Road Auto Repair was actually a good bit less expensive than I was quoted by my mechanic back home. Within a few hours he had is fixed and back on the road. You will not be disappointed with the shop.

Start here if you are in the James Island/Charleston area and need peace of mind for repairs.I was in Charleston with my parents and middle son visiting our eldest son, a cadet at The Citadel. After driving from Atlanta on a Friday, we had a number of activities that ended with an evening grocery run. Went to the parking lot, where our 2005 Honda minivan suddenly sputtered and coughed when trying to start. Saturday morning early, I was able to get it started and drive in search of a place to help. I had seen reviews of Folly Road Auto Repair and pulled in around 7:45AM. I found Joey and explained the problems I had. He had a dozen employees in camo; as I was leaving after he told me they would take care of it, I found out that in fact they were closed. His crew was clearing a lot next door as they plan an expansion.By noon, a new radiator was replaced. Joeys brother Daniel took care of the repairs personally. To be able to make these repairs quickly and effectively while taking the time to explain everything would garner a 5-star rating. To help someone when the store is closed and everyone is working their tails off clearing trees and brush? Well, you rarely see that anywhere. Good luck to Joey, Daniel, and all the staff at Folly Road Auto Repair.

Stay away from this place!!I wouldnt even rate them 1 star but had to in order to make this post.Had them replace a fuel pump and u bolts in my pickup.Broke my brake line installing my u bolts and sent me down the road.Stopped to get fuel at Harris Teeter, just down the road.Barely got stopped to turn in due to broken brake line.Had no brakes by the time I was trying to make the turn and put it in neutral to coast to slow down to make the turn onto their location upon my return to their shop and had no brake fluid in the reservoir upon my return. At Harris Teeter I attempted to put fuel in, fuel gushed out due to them not hooking up the fuel filler hose.Called Joey and he said bring it back.Hooked up filler hose and installed a new brake line and stated they bled the air out of the system but brakes werent working properly, no pedal and air in the lines when I left but after all of that I wouldnt let them fix anything else of mine.Went to another shop where they noted a smashed gas tank due to overtightening of the fuel tank which I installed 18 months prior to my visit myself but was physically unable to do this repair due to a recent surgery.I have done many major repairs to my vehicles over the years and I am probably better than most mechanics.Mechanic at other shop also noted that they only bled the front brakes due to noting the rear bleeders had not been disturbed due to surface rust and took me into the shop area where my truck was up on the lift and showed me.Other shop sprayed the bleeders in the rear with liquid wrench and properly bled all the brakes thus solving the problem.Stay away from this place. They about killed me sending me down the road with a broken brake line.Joeys mechanic pulled the truck out and didnt notice the pedal giving when they 1st sent me down the road.It was my intention to return after I got fuel to tell them about the brakes anyhow and then discovered the filler hose not being hooked up.Made a big scene at Harris Teeter with gas pouring out all over the fuel area. The clerk ran out and put oil dry down to contain the spill. They will never touch anything I own again. They caused more damage to my vehicle then it had when I took it there and could have caused me getting involved in an accident on Folly Rd.Definitely some unexperienced so called mechanics employed there.

Excellent service. In August I had 14 girls with me in a 15 passenger van for a 9 1/2 hour ride from MD to Folly (bachelorette weekend) and the AC was dying. I called the shop early Friday morning after we arrived in Folly and asked if there was any way that someone could look at the AC and get it fixed. They said sure ... bring it on in as soon as you can. We arrived at the shop (which was very busy) and they immediately pulled the van up to one of the bays and started looking at it. He was able to tell that there was a leak in the AC system but said that he would charge it up and it would probably last me for the rest of the summer. They knew I was from out of town and they did exactly what I had asked them to do... make it so we could get home comfortably. Awesome service on short notice and reasonably priced!

Called Folly Road Auto Repair to get a quote on replacement of A/C compressor, Belt tensioner, Serpentinen belt along with recharging unit.Joey called back and left a voice mail which I still have on my phone indicating the estimated of around $400 to include all the above for mentioned. I drop off the parts and the work is done and get the call to pick up the car. Upon starting the car A/C compressor noise is gone and car appears to blow cool air but not anything cold. I gave the car to my girlfriend who actually drives it and later that night she stated that A/C is not blowing cold air. Brought it back in and he advised that my A/C is leaking and Auto zone should take care of it. Went to Auto zone and they will exchange it but wants the old one back. Later that night I find all my records and stumbled upon my receipt from Folly Road Auto and to my surprise it stats that ( Does not unclude Air conditioning system recover, evacuate and/or recharge ) so I went back to talk with Joey and he said they did it but didnt charge me for it even though it stats in the exact wording above format that it wasnt. If my official receipt is accurate the A/C compressor would fail and it would be litterly like running a car without oil. The reality is he now wants $336 to replace my A/C compressor that was replaced less than a month ago. I would have been perhaps happy to split the price but it wasnt offered and Im tremendously disappointed.Im quit sure communication between Joey and his mechanic were unfortunately not on point and the A/C was not recharged as it should have been.Regarding I did it for no cost and the receipt is incorrect excuse?Im not sold on that one, but it sounds nice!

Traveled from Massachusetts for vacation on Kiawah Island, S.C. Heard noise like scraping under right wheel tire. Tried to go to Toyota and Pep Boys, not knowing where else to go. We could see what we thought was the problem (a piece of rubber with a screw attached) however both those places insisted they could not look and we needed an appointment for the following week. We were heading back home and obviously nervous to drive until we were sure of problem. Looked on Internet and found Folly Rd Auto Repair, which fortunately was not too far from where we were staying. Pulled in, gentleman came out immediately, looked under the car, got a screw driver and removed a piece of mud flap that had partially broken off. 5 minutes and no charge. Thank you. I am sorry I did not get the repairmans name .Hopefully we will not ever need his services and he knew that. I would highly recommend this repair shop to anyone in this area.
