It is a school bookstore. It isnt great but isnt bad either.
I visited Cato to obtain my books, which they did not have but informed me that Central Campus book store did. I drove over. I walked in the bookstore and was greeted by an employee. I inquired about purchasing my books. The employee was rude, condescending in a circularly belittling manner. They refused to sell me my school book if I did not place an online order; despite both of us being present and no one else in the facility. I want to note that Cato Campus, had no problem assisting me, but they did not have my book. I do not understand the Central Employees limited desire to sell me a book to use at this school but it was a vast waste of my time.
Prices are high and the hours are not helpful if you have a job.
One of the top community colleges in the country
You would think a bookstore for higher education would have staff that were educated enough to read orders correctly. I recieved the wrong book along with other classmates. Our class is 100 pages in and I have yet to see a single page. Susan Kline the general manager through email correspondence hasnt even apologized for the incompetence. They sent me an email on the 8th that order will be shipped on the 9th and will be recieved by the 10th its 10:15 pm on the tenth and I still havent recieved the book. I have no idea why you cant go pick it up.You can go work out in a gym but can not pick up a book at a bookstore. I wouldnt even recommend cpcc for the predicament they put you in. Calling the school doesnt help no one answers there extensions.
Customer service is very good and I am in and out quickly. I typically print out the ISBN of all of the books I need on one sheet of paper. I give it to the folks at the counter in the back of the store and they grab the books. From that point on, I look around a bit for other stuff I may want to buy and check out at the front of the store. Cashiers at the front of the store also give details on renting, buying, etc., which is good to save money.
Lets just say that I enjoyed my time while I was here. The staff is really nice and helpful, and they actually let you know that you might not need the book for the class you came in for. For example, I was getting a book for art appreciation and the man that helping me asks if the teacher didnt give you a online version for free, and being myself I forgot what the teacher had told me so I had to think about for a sec and ended up not buying the book and I will be forever in debt this the front desk guy because he saved me $120, what a man! And when I was checking out the cashier was nice and asked if I had gotten all the books I need so I wouldnt have to walk all the back to book store later.
I get things are changing with COVID. Having my order canceled because I choose to pick up but pick-up is not available is very frustrating. Make a simple note on the website not to choose that option OR take it off completely. Then to add to it the times ive had to contact them and the GM Susan Kline is very rude.
There is no one available via phone to speak with you. The only option is email which can take 24 hours. If you have any urgent questions or concerns with your order, you’re out of luck.
Great location to get everything you need. The prices of books are continuously increasing which is terrible. But the customer service and they seem to have majority of stuff in stock. The store side is nice to have also. Employing mainly students which is great too.
I came to return books today; it went smoothly. Sometimes its a mad house trying to pick books up. Also, everything (drinks, protein bars, flash drives, etc.) is not cheap, but they almost always have what you need.
This place if definitely convenient for students if your on campus or you live in the uptown area. They do charge a good bit but the products are good quality and they definitely last a while. Books are definitly easier to get here because you dont have to wait for them to come to you through shipping or other form.
Graduated. Pretend. Found paperclip tassels so I put them on my hat.
Please expect absolutely NO Greetings or help from any of the staffs who works at this bookstore. Because of the HORRIBLE customer service, instead of paying $265 for a book. I purchased directly through Cengage which also gives me full access for my online classes including test, exams, etc. I actually visited twice and both times I experienced the same thing. If it wasnt for the poor customer service, I would have never known that I could get full access for my online class through Cengage directly. Which I was able to save $ tremendously.
Very prompt service and all staff had a great demeanor both times I was in there the last few days. Thanks for good training, CPCC Bookstore!
Overly helpful staff willing to help find the best deal for students, whether its used books or rentals. Fantastic campus bookstore.
What a great bookstore. I like the selection, the cat, and the staff. They have a nice selection of graphic novels as well as books on conspiracies (this place may be CIA), and whole bunch of other cool offerings.
Good layout and staff was quick to get the books we needed.
Great place for all your student needs. Office & school supplies, coffee and snacks, electronic accessories, and CPCC clothing and accessories.
It is easy to find books with the staff and store is clean and well organized.
Go to textbook brokers instead. It is right around the corner, basically the same location. Has all the same materials for courses. Instead they are WAY WAY CHEAPER. DO NOT WASTE MONEY HERE.
Love the layout of the store and the customer service is always good. However, the books, supplies, and even the snacks and drinks are extremely expensive here. Im sure there are many people who arent able to complete their education because of this, which is very unfortunate.Yes, the classes are cheaper than most 4 years schools, but Im sure the costs of these books makes up for that. Especially since CP chooses to opt out of the federal direct student loan program, making it that much more difficult for some to come up with the money to attend here.Wondering, what actions does CP and community leaders plan to take to lower these costs to make college more affordable for all?Thinking there has got to be a better way to do things.
Its a typical college book store. They have a lot of over priced stuff that you can just get at target for much cheaper. But it does make it easy to find the books required for your classes. And the staff there is quite educated on the curriculum required for the classes.
Although I was just there for coffee, the young lady that waited on me was very kind and helpful! She wanted to make sure that I found everything that I was looking for.
It always seems that book stores overcharge for textbooks and most items in the store. I dont go in here very often but when I do its usually for a candy bar or soda, which seems to be reasonably priced based on my experience. The staff seem friendly and always willing to help.
Do not rent books from here! Amazon has a much better system, better prices and a longer due back time frame. They give you many warnings before any charges will be made because sometimes things happen. This location has poor customer service and Lisa R. is unprofessional and talkes over you on the phone. Will never use bookstore again! They ripoff students!
Prices are way too high here. Go down the street to another bookstore for better prices.
Staff was efficient but there was a slight disconnect between the co-workers because of new hires. Its got your basic books, and they buy them back in mayCan rent too
Very, VERY RUDE & unfriendly. Natalie (or Natalia) was the ONLY helpful & respectful person. Horrible experience. I wish I could get textbooks elsewhere b/c I wouldn’t spend a dollar or a dime there. Treated horribly. I’d give 0 Stars if I could.
Quick easy service getting a book I needed for a class.
Friendly and helpful staff. But honestly in my opinion, the purpose of the bookstore is suppose to help you save as much money as you can for the textbooks that you need for the class. They may have some decent rental prices but I wouldnt recommend buying books there. Not spend hundreds of dollars just because they say its required when you look online through their website especially in new condition. We are already spending a lot of money on tuition (especially those who dont have much or any financial aid) and on top of that other expenses out of school. Why rip us off when a lot of us are on budget and need to save as much as possible?I dont have that kind of money to throw around and waste. Barely give you anything for book buyback either for most books. Dont let them rip you off.
So overpriced! Textbook brokers is right down the street - they have all the same books for significantly cheaper and accept financial aid! Save your money and shop there instead
Very friendly and store has alot in CPCC merchandise. Completely like this building, and they also have food/quick stop.
Talked to a SUPERVISOR (Lisa) today who had the nastiest attitude of anyone I’ve encountered on that entire campus. Was double-billed for books I didn’t order, nor did I pick up. Instead of being human and showing a little courtesy a restraint, she was rude, disrespectful and ineffective. I’ll NEVER patronize this bookstore again. TERRIBLE! Spend your money with a store that appreciates you.
Enjoyed the session I paid to attend
Only naive people buy things from a college bookstore. You can get almost everything you need from the internet. Dont buy before asking your instructor if you can get the prior edition.
They are nice sometimes I guess never had any big issues just small petty stuff but you cant really expect much from young college kids....
Has a decent selection. Not so good prices though.buy back is always a gamble
Service is quick and nice .love it
I received excellent customer service in person and by phone when I recently spoke with both of the bookstore managers (main campus and Levine campus). Thanks very much!
The people there are very nice and always greet you
Customer service always excellent! Always have what I need.
Textbook brokers is right up the street, they are cheaper and they do not have nasty attitudes. Amazon is another option and if you need the eBook buy it directly from the company like Cengage or McGraw Hill Connect. Avoid this place like the plague it is....
Excellent staff are most helpful and ready to fill your class needs. Plenty of supplies with and w/o branding. Call about particular textbook during mid or late semester.
Comfortable space with helpful staff
Great staff very efficient
It’s alright. Definitely a little overpriced for food, and very overpriced for books, but they usually have a clearance rack of some decent stuff.
Quick service friendly staff.visit recommended
I spoke to someone at this bookstore twice, I believe it was the same person and she was extremely rude over the phone. She was not at all helpful and acted as if I was an idiot while I was trying to figure out where a book was. I had downloaded an eVersion of the book for class which the instructor even said was fine but it did not come with additional materials needed and I was then told that it shouldnt have been an option for ebook download and that I would need to get a refund for that and buy the actual book. After I was told this I tried to locate the book at the campus bookstore and they were closed and none of the other campuses have the book. I was unaware that the bookstore hours had changed as its not advertised anywhere except apparently on the door of the bookstore which I obviously cant see unless i go by the campus which is 45mins out of my way. It is now the day of my class and I will be without the book and materials until the bookstore opens again tomorrow and then there is no guarantee they will have it in stock. I find it very unprofessional that they didnt have this communicated better to the students and that they put up the eBook download option when they shouldnt have. Other people in the class were also confused by the downloaded version. I wouldnt have minded about the situation so much if I hadnt received such rude customer service over the phone from the central campus.
I bought a book online on the 16th of august, because they didnt have any at the store so I paid for a two business day shipping, cuz I need it for my class on the 17th, well they didnt have any so it was in backorder, so I bought the same book for a cheaper price on Amazon (which btw I receive in the same day for free) then I try to cancel my order but I couldnt, so I receive another book on the 25th when I go to return it they said the last day of returns was on the 23th!!!! Come on, nice way to stealing money from the students... worst experience!! Next time you wanna buy a book check other options first.
The books are extremely high anybody thats going to college will find it very hard to purchase anything inside this book store.
Fast and efficient service. Typically has the textbooks you need.
Like this store. Always go there when I take my daughter for school supplies.
They have all the things you need here but I get nervous here which is why I put three stars, the people that work here act like they dont want to be bothered and have a strange way of dealing with things.
Expensive not great. If you want coffee go to the CPCC library cafe not here. If you need books its aight.
Excelent atention, quickly line.
This location wont accept card payments on bus passes. They said they dont make money off it whats the point the $ goes away from their register to another customer
Get your books online, way cheaper.
Great customer service!
CPCC Bookstore is a wonderful place to purchase books & other CPCC swag
Staff is helpful. Books are not always available
They never answer the phone I hate to drive all the way there just to find out that their system is down and they can not buy my book back, unfortunately I need to sell my book so I can afford my new books. ugh just answer the phone already #BrokeCollegeStudent
Everything you need at double the price! At least they never had a shortage of supplies.
They are really helpful
I dont understand why these books cost so much!
Its like going to the DMV. They hire the same rude and incompetent people. The employees have a tenuous grasp of the English language in general.
A little expensive but still a nice clean store.
Not so good prices? Its a rip off haha
More register need to be open on opening day of book purchase.
Good place
Carries all the textbooks needed for school, a well as many accessories such as journals, organizers, pens, pencils, markers, and even snacks, drinks, and clothing.
Bread is so good
Great customer service
They helped me to return a book that I no longer needed because I had to drop that class even though I had opened the package.
Had a good experience
Bookstore is beside levine building.

Awesome college bookstore.
Ambience
Really expensive
Never buy books here if I can help it
Overpriced textbook rentals.
Clean, friendly folks
No one never answers the phone, prices are crazy high, even on rentals, and buy back is a straight rip off. I was offered $16 dollars for a book I paid $100 for. Extortion is the word that comes to mind when I think of the CPCC bookstore.
Great
I like it
