Cant say enough good things about these guys. I had an issue with pedal drive on my kayak and they were very responsive via email letting me know when the parts came in. Service was done same day.They also support local clubs, of you are looking for anything from camping and hiking gear to fly fishing gear head on in and they will take care of you.

This is a long overdue review, but better late than never I suppose. This store has fantastic customer service and a very knowledgeable staff! I was trying to get started fly fishing and had no clue about how to start. Sam walked me through what I would need for the species I was targeting and not only helped me select the proper gear but also showed me how to properly use it. This will definitely be my first stop for any outdoor needs I will have in the future and I would recommend they be yours as well.

Experience first time Experience. The sales man was very patient, knowledgeable and experienced. I recommend the Hoak sneaker shoe. This shoe has eliminated my back pain and they are extremely comfortable!!!

As a newbie at transporting my kayak on my roof for long distances, I ran into a few problems. I walked into this store, explained my problem, and the gentleman (owner, I believe?) said ‘let’s go look’. In 10 minutes I learned that while we had done pretty darn well, there were some tips and tricks to make what we had even better. He didn’t try to sell me anything, just rigged what we had to work. Exceptional service!! Can’t recommend this store enough! Of course we went back in and bought some treats from this excellently stocked store. 😊😊 Best retail experience I can remember!!

Honestly i expected this store to be expensive and overpriced being in the location that it is. Everything was super reasonable and fairly priced. We had a lot of questions about Kayaks, and Mac answered everything and gave honest opinions on everything. He ended up having to stay late on a Friday to finish our order and he did not care one bit (they dont run on commission). Then everytime i called anxiously anticipating our kayaks to be in, they never seemed to bother checking their system. Finally when our kayaks did come in, the other man in the loading dock took his time in the 90 degree day showing us exactly how to use our kayak rack on our car that we didnt even buy from great outdoor provision. Overall just a fantastic company and customer service. I would even over pay to have the service that they gave me. 10/10! Great job!

The immediate feeling upon entering Great Outdoor Provision Company is why did I not check this place out sooner?! With so many great offerings there really is something for any lover of the outdoors. The one thing that legitimately stands out as the greatest quality of this store are the folks who work there. Not only are they friendly and quick to help but they actually care about customer questions and needs. One gentleman who I overheard having a conversation with someone on the phone offered to help further, through email, to resolve the questions of the caller. He could have just as easily not gone that extra mile and said sorry, I cant help you. It is due to the service and excellent quality of the products that Great Outdoor Provision Company will be my first choice for outdoor recreational needs. I recommend to everyone.

I need another pair of Chaco shoes. I do not want to buy shoes in this price point online. I went online and searched stores in my area that have the style and size I need. I was excited to see that OPC In Charlotte, NC had what I was looking for. I made the drive and walked in the store. I was greeted by a little man directing me to a mask. The store was EMPTY as it was a Sunday afternoon. I let him know I am medically exempt from wearing a mask. He told me I could shop online. I explained that I wanted to try on the shoes and indicated the store was empty. I asked him if he was going to let me look at the shoes. He threatened to have me thrown out. I am greatly disappointed that this is the way this store is operated. I had just been in the OPC on the NC coast and could not have been more satisfied with the service and associates that worked with me there. Unfortunately they did not have the size I needed in stock. As this ‘pandemic’ has spiraled out of control we have lost our sense of decency and kindness as well as common sense.

I have used them over the years and always been happy w products and services. Recent I was in looking for a backpack, they didnt have one I liked, bought a few items. I purchased one from ll bean and was happy w it but being new to backpacking was having some issues. I called yesterday and spoke to Grace. Told her mt issues said I did not buy baxkpack there . She spoke to me a good 15 minutes helped me w all my questions and then said, if it doesnt help just come in w the backpack. Turned out what she helped me w was dead on perfect. Great customer service, ill be back in future. Update came back, did not purchase anything but got great service getting all my questions answered.

Rudy and Sam provided me with exceptional service and demonstrated excellent product knowledge. I had a problem with a product they are an authorized dealer for, but I did not buy the product from them. Nevertheless, they offered to do whatever they could to address the issue. Additionally, Rudy emailed the owner and other company representatives directly to ensure timely communication during these COVID 19 times which have challenged most normal processes. The company responded the same day and sent out a replacement part.Great Outdoor Provision has earned my future business!

Went in to buy a pair of boots - specifically Tecnica. As soon as we walked in the store Rudy greeted us and was extremely helpful. I have an odd foot, and he was extremely patient, helping me try on several different styles and sizes. We ultimately had to order a specific size - which was in within a day. Rudy was with another customer when we went back, so Phillip stepped right in and helped with the special molding process these boots require. I couldn’t be more pleased with the service and selection at this store! I will be back.

They are so knowledgeable on all they sell. The guy selling me hiking boots could have said a couple of things but he really did a great job spelling out what one pair I was looking at is good for and how they work with what I want. A cool classic spot in Park Rd Shopping center.

Excellent staff; Rudy runs a great shop. The whole staff is very knowledgeable on the gear and make a point not to over sell. I enjoy shopping there.

First impressions go a long way. Being in need of a bear canister, I found most places could not guarantee shipping in time. I found this place through a dealer search on Bear Vaults website. I called GOPC and they had some. They are a little out of the way for me, but I hustled over to get there before close. I got there two minutes before close and hoped to not have the door slammed in my face. Quite the opposite, they were friendly, they let me in and even got the last bear canister on the shelf for me, so all I had to do was pay and leave. Sadly, I didnt have enough time to browse around longer and check out everything they had to offer (Im avoiding store browsing right now anyway), but I will definitely keep these guys in mind for gear in the future. I will also say they were much friendlier than the national outdoor store chain with the initials!

Great customer service- Needed a part for my Hobie compass... they literally took it from a compass in stock for me! Very informative and helpful with suggestions on mods that I had in mind.

Won’t ever Return. Unfortunately the staff and owners DO NOT know anything about CUSTOMER SERVICE. Bottom line, I had a disagreement with store policy. I left the store, my family remained behind to finish shopping. The staff and manager gathered themselves around, in listening distance of my family and proceeded to have a highly inappropriate discussion! My advice to management “SAVE your complaining and inappropriate conversations about CUSTOMERS for the employee break room!

Amazing store for hikers, to get quality and name brand products, while in the city.

This has always been my go-to spot for anything outdoors. The staff have been over the top helpful. In fact, I had them install a roof rack and three of them went out of their way to make sure everything was set for me! Theyve pulled maps out to show me trails, given me tips on when to visit and places to take my dog off leash. Its been BY FAR my most favorite spot in Charlotte for outdoor info. However, in the last year I have seen a strikingly different shift. Out of the 10 times Ive been in the store over the last year (I used to do that in just 2 months), I have only been helped twice and only once by someone who actually does outdoor activities. In fact, I wanted to purchase a kayak from them (after years of incredible service), but the first time I tried the new manager gave me a bit of a run-around. I tried it a second time and the same manager sent over a brand new employee who did not kayak to help answer my technical questions. When I asked her if she knew anything about their boats, she said, no, but my manager thought it would be good practice. Not sure its great business sense to let a novice practice on the sale of such a high priced item. Needless to say, I bought from another shop who was interested in their product and keeping a customer! The service has declined drastically over the last year and Charlotte has lost a GREAT shop! I do hope they revert back to having staff who actually spend time outside, who can share about trails, can provide tips, and who care about their customers. I really love this store and do hope it starts bringing back a caring staff.

They told me they have something in stock that I called in and asked about before I took the 30 to 40 minute drive. They told me they had it in stock but he never even checked, l would not of made a 30 minute drive if he took 5 min and checked. Then told me no it’s not in stock I have to order, I may have ordered it then.Edit: Changed to a three because of them trying to reach out.

Used to love coming here, but the past dozen or so times Ive been the people working havent said a single word to me or offered to help. Instead they talk to each other or try to look busy despite me being one of the only shoppers in the whole place... The selection also seems to not be as good as it used to be.

Probably my favorite outdoor gear store. The manager Rudy and all of the staff are just so helpful and they know their stuff. I can find specialty items from small cottage companies here at Outdoor Provision. A great selection of gear. Ive bought a lot of gear from OP including 2 kayaks in the past year. Check out this store and if you dont know something just ask. All of the staff are avid outdoors people and they will help you out.

Ive been going here for about 25 years now, and the place just gets better. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the gear selection is quite good. Ill take G.O.P.C. over Rei any day. Its also nice that its in Park Rd shopping center, so theres always good parking, and I can get just about everything else I need for any occasion in the same stop.

That, combined with this other female sales attendant staring my husband up and down, and then me up and down, and then him, and then me, etc. caused us to just get outta there. Super uncomfortable. Not about glitzy marketing, just GREAT gear & EXPERT advice. Not always the absolute cheapest prices, but always competitive prices. Also, buying gear the 1st time that meets your needs is often cheaper than buying twice (even if the famous store WILL allow ridiculous returns, a miserable paddle or camping trip, plus the trouble to exchange stuff is a cost too).I vote with my $ by shopping at GOP Company. In return, theyve helped me discover more of the world.

I went to multiple locations to try and find a kayak that fit my needs. I wanted a kayak that I could take down rivers and be comfortable in transitioning to more of the white water stuff without necessarily jumping into that head first. I narrowed my choices from my own research down to an old town Sorrento 126 and the Wilderness Systems Pungo 120. The customer service that I received at the other stores(REI, West Marine, Dicks) were sub par at best. The consultants at these other places sounded as if they were guessing at information that they were trying to give me. An internet search landed us at great outdoor provision and I could not be happier that it did! Sam Helped me with finding the kayak that was going to be best for what I wanted. Not only did I find the perfect kayak but I also got it for around $400 less than I was going to pay for the others because they had one on clearance. I ended up with an ETHOS 10 Core whiteout edition. Sam walked me through the specs, the urges of this kayak and even knocked some of the price off of the already almost half reduced clearance price. His knowledge not only of the product but of the sport was incredible. He was not pushy in any way but showed me everything that I would need to get the most out of the kayak and the experience of getting into white water runs. I cannot say enough good things about this store and the staff. Thanks to Sam and the rest of the staff I am a lifelong customer. If you’re thinking of any outdoor activity don’t hit the big box chains, head over to great outdoor provision. You will not be disappointed!

This store is awesome. Extremely helpful staff. I prefer this store over REI any day. I bought a Camelbak water bladder for a backpacking trip, and decided to buy a filter too... one of the employees told me to come back in with my backpack and he attached it all together for me before my trip for free.

Great store....but we will never go back 3 of the employees today trying to pretend like they didnt see my boyfriend and I standing there so they didnt have to help. My boyfriend Joe had a kayak on hold that had a scratch in it so they said theyd take off 100 so okay or didnt mind come back to get it it has a gash in it the employee he told just was like oh....just mumbled and literally walked away. I thought to work in outdoor store you should know about outdoor stuff noone seemed to know anything. And mac I believe his name was great so was the other lady with spunky hair the first time went there and they were not there today So my boyfriend lost all his excitement to get the kayak he always wanted took the hold off and we walked out ignored and empty handed. We will never be back. Thanks alot. For absolutely nothing. And for the employees that walked past us numerous times get another job. Not in customer service.

Outstanding customer service here. I had an issue installing a yakima SKS core which had a broken key still lodged in. Brett (service manager) promptly got out his power drill and we went into action to bore out the old key and he helped me put in the new one. Cant wait to go back. Thanks for all your support.
