I made an appointment for 8 AM this morning on the University Tire website early last week for an oil change and state inspection. I understand there are no appointments made for state inspections - first come first served. I arrived at the shop at 6:30 AM to ensure I would be be first come. I walk into the shop, they have 2 guys waiting to talk to me - I tell them about the appointment I made online and I need a state inspection and oil change. I was immediately told they MIGHT be able to get to me later in the afternoon. I asked why they set appointments online, and neither guy had any idea what I was talking about. Will NEVER go there again.

Came in for an alignment and they pulled my car right in. Took less then a hour.Unfortunately I picked up a nail on the way home and didn’t realize it. Brought the car back not knowing what was going on. They checked my car out, showed me the nail and said they would take care of it. I highly recommend this shop for all of your needs. (The Pantops location also is one of the only places in the area that could get my car on an alignment machine).

Scammers, pure and simple. Their scam is to quote hundreds (or thousands) in unnecessary repairs to pass an inspection, and then to threaten customers who try to go elsewhere. For example, I took my car in for a pair of new tires, they inspected it without asking, put a rejection sticker on it and told me very severely that I wasnt even allowed to take it to another shop (which is not true) without getting the work done by them. Theyre used to dealing with townies who dont know anything about vehicles, and they have a comfortable niche scamming soccer moms. Ive reported them to the better business bureau, so well see what happens.

So sad to have to post this, because I have really loved working with these folks over the last 10 years. I set an appointment for 9am for an oil change and state inspection. After being hung up on when I checked on the progress, to the guy saying he didnt want to deal with me, to them keeping my car overnight and asking when I would like my car the following day, I am unfortunately done with giving them my business. My final cost was $30+ more than the website cost despite them including a $5 coupon. This should not have been so difficult. If youre busy and running behind, just let people know, we will understand!

I would give this zero stars if i could. you walk in and the guy has his headphones in which made me feel unwanted or of secondary importance. they will try and scam you. after feeling judged they tried to scam me saying the brakes needed to be replaced. after a quick kelley blue book search the real cost should be around five hundred. they wanted $900 for replacing brake pads and rotors. after leaving with only an oil change, i was handed a sheet of paper with little to no information about why the brakes even needed replacement. after asking questions about it, the headphones guy gives me a quick simple response leaving me no take away information. the attitude standoffish. i wouldnt recommend going here if you care even a little about your car. they had a safety checklist for us to take home to ensure a job well done, or lets say if it the car was safe to drive, to which it was left empty and not signed. no signatures of any kind anywhere. he tried to tell me no place will fill it out like they should? thats just plain untrue.

I came there at 9:30am to just have them look at my car and see if I needed anything done to it because it felt the wheel whobbling and stayed there until 12 when they did not take my car out until 11:30 to just test drive it in the foodlion parking lot and for them to tell me I needed air and they charged me 60$ to just do that. Not happy at all and they will not get my business any more! Shouldn’t have even took it there. I was a female that came by myself so they took advantage.

I normally go to NTB to get my state inspection & oil change done but decided to take my 2011 Mazda 3 to University Tire since it was closer to me. After all the bad reviews I was extremely worried what the outcome would be but I was pleasantly surprised when I got a call that car was good to go with no problems. I’ll definitely go here again as long as I’m living close by.

Able to get my car in for same day state inspection! Very helpful staff.Definitely do a state inspection during the week if you can. They have 2 inspectors during the week vs only 1 on Saturdays!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Scheduled my pregnant wife an 8am appt. 3 days in advance for an inspection/oil change. It was made clear that she was going to wait for the car bc she had to go to work after. 1hr time frame should have been plenty but almost 4 hrs later and my wife crying in the lobby, it was complete. No communication, horrible customer service, and not even a sorry for the wait at check out. Never again, ZERO STARS

Don’t go there. The worst place to get any work done in Charlottesville. I put my car in at 8:00 for inspection and took the day off to get it done. They called at 4:45 to say the couldn’t do it. Then hung up the phone when I asked to speak to the manager. Please avoid.

Everytime I’ve brought my car to any University Tire it’s always been some sort of issue. Just got my car fixed and inspected then get pulled over right after because they broke the turn signal lever along with the headlights doesn’t work all together . Should not have to bring my car back because something wasn’t done right. It’s like saying sorry I forgot to cook that chicken all the way .

My Dad got two cars inspected, both rejected, for legitimate reasons, which i understand. Got both cars repaired, brought them back, the inspector failed them both again for issues he didnt mention the first time! Horrible service. Secondly, I got another state inspectors opinion and found out they were lying about the state requirements. They are trying to take advantage of older people. Shameful...

Prompt service and reasonably priced.

I went to take my car in to get inspected and they told me my power steering pump was leaking (not bad but it was a slow leak) and it would cost around $800 to fix. My husband and decided to hold off on fixing to see if there was a cheaper way. When we got home my husband went under my car and saw no leak! So we decided to take it to another repair shop and they too said that there was NO leak! If you go here and need a repair, ALWAYS get a second opinion!!!! I will never take my car here again!

Emailed to schedule a state inspection appointment on Thursday. They replied, saying there is no appointment for state inspection, and it is first come first serve. I asked when do they open on Saturday and they said 8am.On Saturday, I arrived around 7.55am and waited in front of their inspection bay. There were at least 3 employees there at the moment. No one bothers to reach out to me. I thought that is fine because technically they are still not opened.At 8.10am, a guy approached. He said state inspection is fully booked. I am confused because they said state inspection is first come first serve. He explained there were 8 cars having a night drop off yesterday.1) if that is considered as first come first serve, they failed to mention that in the email.2) they let me wait for 15 minutes before approaching and telling me that. They saw I was waiting right in front of the inspection bay at the very beginning.Conclusion: terrible customer service, terrible communication, terrible attitude. Just moved back to Virginia and new to Charlottesville and based on the way they do business, God bless. I will never come back nor having any positive to say about this place to my friends. It is simply horrible.

Ive been taking my car here for 2 years, and they always do good work. I came in at 4:50 on a Tuesday because my tire was rapidly losing pressure. They had my tire fixed in less than an hour AND didnt charge me a cent. Definitely recommend. (See picture of the screw they pulled out!)

Went in for a state inspection. Recieved a quote for $1,500 dollars of work that needed to be done for my vehicle to pass. Went and got it reinspected just down the road where $300 dollars of work were needed instead. The mechanic laughed when I showed him the previous quote and stated they were trying to make some easy dollars on unnecessary work. I drive an 2007 4Runner thats in pretty great condition and has been well maintained over the years. Just needed new breaks in the front.

I had a mixed experience. I needed a simple repair: replacing a valve stem on a wheel, and remounting it on the vehicle. Normally this should cost less than $20. I waited 2 hours for them to do a 15 minute job (busy Saturday I guess), and in the end, they actually didnt charge me for it, so basically I just paid with my long wait time. Overall Im happy enough with that transaction that I would give a 5-star rating if the story ended there. However, I found that they rifled through a bunch of stuff in my car, and there is no way that was necessary for putting a valve stem in my wheel. I didnt find anything missing, but it was highly disturbing that they went through my stuff and moved it all around for no reason. Based on that I would give a 1-star rating, so I guess the average between 1 and 5 stars is 3.Update: went back recently because of proximity to my house and just needed to get an inspection done. I showed up at 7:30am on a weekday and was told it might be a couple hours. 4 hours later I got my inspection done :/

Good place to get tires and service done.

They will do exactly as you ask. I got an inspection appointment through the website, after trying to go through their online assistant 3 times to no avail. I needed a part that I had put on the vehivle, to which their store policy is that they cant put on customer parts, if I wanted that piece replaced I would have to pay for a new one that they would order. I called the store number 4 times to find out about the status of my car before I just went to get it, and each time I phoned someone picked up the receiver and after a few moments hung up without even saying a word. So, if you want to use this place book an appointment using their online appointment scheduler, and then go to the location if theres anything that you need to know.

It was near the end of the month and my car needed to be inspected! I stopped here and asked if they could inspect my car while thinking I will probably have to leave it overnight. I left my car and walked back to my office. A couple of hours later, I received a call saying my car was inspected and ready to be picked up. Thanks guys. Job well done!

I want to say what a great manager you have at the Pan tops Store. Dave Sullivan is good and so nice to deal with and is fair. He goes out of his way to be helpful and the reason I keep coming back.Thank youJANET HARPERMy only complaint is that I felt I was overcharged for my brakes. It was a sticker shot. Had to keep going back to get my tires balanced. Then they told me to go to another location because the machine broke. Took 4 days to finally get it right!

After $1,400 worth of work, wasn’t quite a good experience to drive off the lot with 4 loose tires! Made it about a mile and had to turn right back around. The mechanic who did all the work tried to convince us it was just the 2 new tires. After arguing that he needed to take it for a test drive, he did ... and felt sorry when realizing he had not tightening the tires!! Up on the lift the front left was so loose it was easy to move back and forth. Wow. You can imagine I have very little faith that any of the $1400 worth of work was done correctly. Will never return and caution others as well.

This place usually is pretty good, but dont rely on their shuttle service. Most of the time when I call earlier in the morning, they dont have a shuttle driver. Today, I dropped off my car at 12:30pm. They told me it would be 4 to 5 hours because they were backed up. I said that was fine because I didnt leave work until 4:30 or 5. I made sure that they could pick me up when it was done, waited a few minutes for them to get the shuttle around and they took me to work. I called at 5:30pm and they said my car was next in line. I called back at 6:15pm. They said they were finishing up on the car and that I could start that way. I told him I was promised a ride and he said he didnt have anyone to come get me. He said he would try to find someone and call me back. At 6:35pm, he called and said he had someone on the way. I like and trust this company, but the shuttle could be more reliable.

I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! I went in to get a state inspection. I knew my car was in good condition and that I would pass. After waiting they told me in order to pass the inspection I needed back brakes and rotors. I was surprised because I had that done a few months ago. He told me they would put a rejection sticker on my car if I did not get the repairs done that day for almost $400. I said no and got the rejection sticker. The next day I had my father take it to a different University Tire location and it passed the inspection! They told him my car looked good, no problems! I was in total disbelief because they tried to get over on me at the Pantops location. Was it because I’m a young women?? When my father took it elsewhere it was perfectly fine! This goes to show how mechanics stereotype women thinking we have no idea about our cars and they try to take advantage of us!!

Had some work done on my husbands old car. They were great. We worked with Brandon and he was very helpful and honest.

I’m honestly disappointed in the universal team service. They told me the valve gasket, oil cooler gasket, housing pump & gasket were the reason my car leaking oil. They told me they fixed the issue a couple days later I smelt oil burning took it back to them they responded it was oil burning off the motor that’s normal. Couple days later I smelt oil again so I look under my car and I saw a massive oil leak. So i called and to them the issue..They told me to bring it back I said I’d rather be reimbursed my money for the unprofessional service and waste they’ve cost they said I’m afraid we can’t do that. Horrible customer service

I had an urgent situation & they were able to meet my very rigid schedule. I highly recommend them & will always go back for all of my automotive needs.

I dropped off my car for a simple oil change. After picking up my car, my oil indicator light would flash when idling and a few times while driving. My husband and I were concerned and took it to a local shop near our home. The shop called us to inform us there was one quart too much oil in my car! I will not be returning back to University Tire. Too much oil is as bad as low oil!

Always great service at competitive prices. Tires and car repairs with normal services like oil changes and inspections. Nice people.

Got tires and one unfortunately was punctured a few months later. They replaced it, free of charge, no questions asked. Great group of folks!

Ive been having my vehicles serviced and repaired at University Tire for the last 10 years. Over the last couple of years Ive seen a decline in service but nothing like yesterday. Knowing their first come first serve policy, I arrived at 7:10 am, told them I needed an oil change and state inspection and would wait. There were 2 young ladies ahead of me for inspections and I was told it would be about 2 hours. I thought that was reasonable and said that would be OK. After 3 hours, my vehicle had not been taken in, I inquired as to how much longer it would be and was told about 10 minutes they were just finishing up. Almost another hour passed and my vehicle still had not been taken in. In the meantime I step outside several times and observe the inspector walking around repeatably under the same SUV never touching anything and shooting the bull with the mechanic in the next bay. I retrieved my keys and left. No wonder I keep seeing advertisements on NBC 29 for help wanted all locations, managers, service writers and technicians. Never again!

Absolutely the worst car service I have ever received. Despite being on a roadtrip, they consistently put off service on our car, forcing us to find housing and spend money on a rental car much longer than anticipated. Every single time we called for an update, they were not straight forward with us. Our car was 4 hours later than they had told us it would be...after already being a day later than originally estimated. When we finally left the shop, the check engine light was on. Will never return or recommend to anyone.

Tim was a knowledgeable guy. Got me the best priced tires for my Nissan Sentra. Was in and out for a tire change and state inspection around one hour. Great guys great prices!

I work for a local service company and we have 25+ fleet vehicles on the road that get serviced.Lesson Learned:Never leave University Tire until after you verify they actually did their job. Sat for two hours to get a tire replaced(front passenger) due to a nail close enough in my sidewalk that I didn’t want to risk trying to patch it for it to blow out going down 64. Went back to the shop to drop off the invoice. Walked back out to find they installed a Firestone Transforce AT all terrain tire instead of the Transforce HT I called in ahead for, have on all four of my wheels, was told was here, and was supposed to have been installed. So here I go for another two hours...$160 spent and 3 hours wasted total for one tire.

I have been disappointed every time I go here. I want to give them a chance, but it has always been a bad experience. Ordered tires on line, went in on the day they were to arrive to find out they used them on someone elses vehicle. They left the dip stick out of my wifes car and it covered the front of her motor with oil. They did not clean it after the mistake was pointed out.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about University Tire and Auto Center !! Was very pleased with my service today and I will be returning with my business as well as referring friends here. I called today at 12:30p.m. and spoke with a kind gentlemen whom I explained my situation to that I needed an alignment, tire rotation as well as an oil change, ALL BEFORE FRIDAY. Anywhere else you would have been told it would be days before they could do all of that work, however he said bring it down on your lunch break, wed be happy to drive you back to work and it will be finished when you get off work at 5:00. Everything was completed perfect and in a timely manner. Thank you everyone at University Tire and Auto on Pantops for making my 2008 GMC Yukon a happy vehicle.

I dropped my car off for inspection in Feb. 2015. I was informed the car had a power steering leak and would need a new rack and pinion for $1400 to pass inspection. Also 2 new belts were recommended for $600. Luckily they couldnt get the rack and pinion that day and I had time to get a second opinion. I took it to 2 other places, both said the rack boot had a small tear, which was required to be replaced for inspection, but there was no leaking power steering fluid like University stated. I had a quote of $180 at one shop, $160 at the other. I ended up paying $260 for the new rack boot and 2 belts at another shop.I had the oil changed the same day at University, and then noticed a puddle where I park my car. I decided to look under the car and discovered oil running down the filter. The filter was loose! That is completely unacceptable. How could this mechanic continue to have a job? This could have ruined my engine if I didnt catch their mistake.Do not take your car here. Go to Peacock, By Word of Mouth, or Tuffy Muffler

I came in 30 minutes before closing time and they helped my solve my tire air leak for free! The front desk attendant was very nice and reasonable. They could have easily charged me $20 for tire repair or at least accepted a tip - but they did not agree to either... 😯

Im giving University Tire two stars because of my 2 hour wait time. If I would have been a walk in, I would have understood, but that was not the case. I made an appointment for 10am a week prior to bringing it in. This is not an exaggeration when I say I waited two hours! My receipt states they were finished with my vehicle by 11:51! At 10:40, my vehicle was still out on the lot so I went and asked how long it takes to have tires changed and made a remark about how they must not honor appointments because my car was still sitting outside! Do not take the time to make an appointment because clearly they dont honor it! On top of it all, they clearly dont know anything about customer satisfaction because they never offered to make it right! Im mad I gave them my business especially since I had all four of my tires replaced!

Absolute worse. Purchased a tire from there 5 months ago only to find out that they put the wrong size tire on my car. If thats what they specialize in, why did they not check to make sure it was the correct size? Make matters worse, he acted like it was partly my fault. I go back and was offered a $50.00 credit, really!? Keep your $50.00 credit that wont even cover my oil change. How about reimbursing my credit card that I used to purchase that tire...I hope no one ever asks me about them because I have nothing good to say. 😡 Worse experience by far😡

Around 3 months ago, they changed my front brake pads during state inspection and since then there was a weird noise coming from my brakes. I went back there twice to get them checked and they couldnt hear the noise, but they replaced the brake pads without any charge at the end. Now its all fine. Im only giving 4 stars because I still think that the initial issue was because of something done wrong in the first place. However, they fixed it without too much trouble. Thanks!

I took my vehicle to get an inspection. They rejected it saying the front and rear brakes were wore out and the rotors all needed replacing. The quote was over $800. I told them to put a rejection sticker on it and took it to another shop. All wheels were taken off and the brakes checked and they were not even half worn and nothing was wrong with the rotors. University Tire is a rip off. I will never go back.

If you pass your inspection they’ll get very pushy with suggested services and then they’ll get very rude if you decline. Everyone should just go to Total Auto across the street. Faster service and much better customer service.

University Tire on Pantops worked overtime to help get our truck on the road...they were thoughtful, thorough, caring and professional. They found a problem that another mechanic overlooked and corrected it giving a smooth, tight ride with no front end issues. Jamie, the manager and Travis have been especially kind and helpful.Further, I was quoted $110!! And then $65 for a standard oil change by two other local mechanics for my Fiat 500...University Tire did it for $18!Lastly, one day while having my car serviced I left my packages by mistake at UTire from shopping...Eduardo called me at home and told me they found them...then he waited after they were closed until I was able to come and get them just to make sure I had received them safely!!These guys have my vote, hands down!!

This was a very pleasant experience. I called with an emergency situation and they saw me immediately. I had new tires put on while I waited and they couldnt have been any friendlier. Would recommend to anyone!

Would NEVER go here again. I went in for an inspection in the morning, they told me my car was going to be ready in a few hours so I have someone pick me up. Day went by and no calls.. Called them and they told me they never got to it and theyll do it tomorrow.. um what? I have a job and youre just now saying my car wont be with me until a day from now? Long story short, they failed me for no reason! I believe they put a hole in my tire because they were pissed I called. The car was brand new. Picked up my car and they were acting like they knew something I didnt. Dont trust them

Be careful - these guys will likely try to overcharge you. They told me that I needed a radiator changed and that it was going to cost me ~$1,000 (600 for the new radiator, 200 for the labor, and 180 to flush out the system and add antifreeze). Looked up radiators online and they run from $150-200...and they tried to charge $600. They didnt really have an explanation when I mentioned this to them.Went to AutoZone to see if they could diagnose the problem, estimate the cost, and could refer me somewhere to fix it. I mentioned that the guys at University Tire & Auto had quoted me at such a high price, and they said not surprised. Unfortunately thats a regular occurrence over there.

I was in Charlottesville when my oil light came on (Im from out of town) late on a Friday afternoon. Even though the place was quite busy and I had no appointment, Travis offered to take a quick look at the car for me. Im ashamed to admit its been so long since I personally checked my oil that I was reading the dipstick all wrong. He pointed out that even though there was oil on the dipstick that it was essentially bone dry. He then put in some oil I had with me, and when that still didnt fill it, added more from the shops supply. He then pointed out that the battery that AAA had installed two days earlier was the wrong one for the car (the posts were in the wrong place), which was causing issues with the placement of the rod for my hood. Anyway, this was valuable information that Ill be using to get my money back from AAA hopefully. In any event, Travis kindly did all of this without accepting payment from me. I was extremely grateful for the help, and wanted to let the folks at University Tire & Auto know that his courtesy was very much appreciated (especially after just having been given obviously bad service by AAA). Id recommend them to anyone.

Came in to have service work done to my vehicle without an appointment. Tim at the service counter was very helpful and courteous and had my vehicle fixed in no time at a very,very reasonable price. I had a very bad experience, . last year they changed two tires, at that time they were very friendly., last week I tried to open the tire to check my brakes it was impossible to do it with any wrench. it was externally tight.I return to shop and asked them to loosen it a little, it was a 1 minute job but I waited 2 hours without any result, next day I returned again but the manager told me in a non friendly tone, that I should wait 5 hours.It was very bad experience, I do not recommend anybody to go there.

Been there twice for a flat and was allowed in both times around 6:45 (before they even opened). They pulled the nail and plugged both times very quickly. Once they didnt even charge me! Good people.

I brought my car in to have the air conditioner charged. I was told that it couldnt be charged due to a blockage and that it will needed diagnostic work done before it could be charged. I enlisted a co-workers husband to see if he could charge my air conditioner. He did and it took less than 30 mins.I contacted Bill the manager and told him about what happened and how disappointed I am. He apologize right away and said he would refund my money.He did exactly that, now I am going to be very skeptical about taken my car there for other car care needs.

Mother went there to have tire repaired. First the gentleman at the counter said they wouldnt plug it if it had already been plugged. Well the plug that was in it was something we did and was NOT in right to begin with. Was still leaking air but made it there.We could pull it out by hand. After waiting over an hour they took vehicle back to inform her they didnt feel comfortable because it had some dry rot around it. FYI inspection is only about 2 months old. Backed the vehicle out was not helpful one bit. Wasnt any mam you do have a spare tire we could put on for you. Not very good customer service and apprently no knowledge. Two too many reasons why they couldnt do it....

I went in for a deal on tires that was advertised on the internet. When I called to schedule the appointment the day before they said they had the tires in stock. The next day they waited until my car was apart to tell me they were out of those tires and I had to choose another set at regular price.Last time I go to this place for anything. Feel free to roll the dice on your car but youre betting a couple hundred dollars on one roll.

I went in earlier this month to get my car inspected. After over 2 hours of waiting, the guy at the front desk (who was nice, but kept trying to upsell) said that my car wouldnt pass inspection and needed almost 700 dollars worth of work done to it. So, I went to get a second opinion at a different (and trustworthy) shop, who not only noticed that pipes looked like they had been loosened intentionally, but quoted me 200 less than University Tire. So, please heed my warning. University Tire on Pantops is a scam and waste of time and money. I highly advise against giving this location any business.

I want to say that the personnel at University Tire on Pantops are very nice, have smiles on their faces and are helpful. Every time I go there I have a pleasurable experience.

Had a 10 a.m. appointment and by noon they still had not taken my car back for an alignment and tires. My husband got our keys back and we left. Gave it a one star only because zero wasnt an option.

Awful. Dropped the vehicle off the night before to be first in line for next day tell them to give us a call if they need anything. Called the next day at noon and find out the car hasnt been inspected because they locked the truck and didnt have the keys to get in. No phone call no nothing to tell us this happened and for us to come out there. They ended up calling a lock smith to get into the vehicle and was told we would be next in line for inspection. Came by an hour later and the truck had just been unlocked and we were next. Go get gas and come back an hour later and still not inspected and a different car in the bay, and we were told we were next. We go out to eat and go to a few stores come back the truck still not inspected and another different car was getting inspected. I ended up being dropped off at the location to ensure it would get done and no more run around. Will not bring mine or my wifes vehicle here again.

I brought my car here for inspection, and I chose this location because they told me there was a shuttle. Turns out the shuttle would take at least a half hour, for an hour and a half inspection. I stayed and waited that hour and a half, to find out that the car wouldnt pass inspection without over $400 of work, including a broken light and loose exhaust. I took it to a local mechanic that we trust, who found out the light was not broken (the light cover was cracked), and the exhaust wasnt loose but had a hole that was leaking CO2 into my car! This inspection was apparently thorough enough to warrant $400 worth of repair, but actually inadequate for keeping the drivers safe. Unsafe, exploitative business practices.

I have to give University Tire Pantops a 5-star rating for my most recent visit. I usually get my oil changes there and I had been having problems with the back tail light, so while my oil change I asked Asst. Manager Alphonzo to check my light. He did and they accidently cracked my light. When I spoke to the Manager Dave about it, he said No worries, I already ordered another light and we will let you know when it arrives. Alphozo called and I have a brand new tail light, that works just fine. Thanks to all of the guys there!

BEWARE: Do not go there ! I got the worst possible estimate for repairs to be done for state inspection. They have a 100 percent markup on parts and want to replace whole exhaust system because of one bank Oxygen sensor failure. Then they have the gall to want 89.00 for a diagnostic charge included after false diagnosis of catalytic converter clogged so they want to replace whole exhaust system ? Thieves they are ! Ill never ever go there again. Brain and Dale are no better than snake oil salesman ! 1360.00 bill for repair work not needed ! BEWARE UPDATE: I have had the repairs done for 600.00 and did not need half of the repairs or parts Brian said I needed. It was all a scam and I am a disabled Vet. on a fixed income and carrying an oxygen tank and to be treated this way is irreprehensible. I feel like a good ass beating is due for these guys !!

I had to repeat my service requests multiple times before the guy got everything and then he still missed the full diagnostic test (which costs extra and I specifically said Id pay for it); on the paper he wrote something like, customer asked to look the car over. They had my car all day and didnt call me when it was done; I stopped by when I got off work and apparently it had been done. When I left in the car it was definitely better than before but still pulled to the right (after getting 2 new front tires and an alignment) and not even a week later the car was shaking badly and I could feel the front passenger tire wobbling. So I had to take it back and miss more time from work - I work in sales so my vehicle is my livelihood. I was told it would only take half an hour so I decided to wait instead of going to the office so I could at least get some work done; its been over an hour now and Im still waiting. Needless to say I will NOT be coming back to this location, which is very unfortunate because its closest to my office. The only reason I gave 1 star is because the gentleman who drove me to my office was so pleasant! We chatted like old friends the whole ride and when I realized I had forgotten something, he turned around without any hesitation or aggravation. I wish I could remember his name to compliment him!

( 10 plus years Customers) My sister had her transmission flushed there. Once she drove it home she noticed the truck had a bit of a jerk to it. She took the truck back to them several times questioning the jerk every time they so called checked it of course nothing was wrong after driving it for a few months and going back for them to look at it several more times now theres a problem now she need to replace the transmission of course it not their fault but they are the ones that has ever worked on her truck/transmission. Do not recommend them for service on anything.** Update so my sister spoke with Dave she sent him the receipt of the new transmission work like he requested, she is not pointing the entire blame on UTAC but if they had looked at this issue when she kept saying something was not right after the transmission was flushed, it could have been avoided thousands of dollars later. So at this time of course no one has gotten back to her to see if they are going the help come up with a solution to this problem, other than the response below, that they have been in contact with my sister. If you are not going to help just say so instead of avoiding this matter.

My experience at this location has been horrible on TWO separate occasions. First, I took my brothers car in on a Saturday to get his car inspected. I sat and waited for two whole hours and when they said the vehicle was ready, they actually did an oil change on the car instead of inspecting it and then made me pay for it! And then I had to wait another WHOLE hour to get it inspected only to be told that it did not pass! Now today, I called because I wanted to get tires for my fathers car and its closer to my dads house. I placed the call on Monday, July 29th and was told they had to order the tires and would call me back when they got in so that they could give me a total amount and set the appointment for Saturday. Well I never got a call and called today on August 2, only to be told that the tires were not ordered and no one seem to know what I was talking about! I looked through my call log just to make sure that I had the right branch, and guess what it was! This branch is HORRIBLE!! I will NEVER use them again! Makes you think if they cant even get the simple things right, imagine what they are doing to your car!!!!

Called to get state inspection and was advised to come in at 7am the next day as they are first come first serve. Arrived at 7 and was told I would have to leave my vehicle and they might get to it same day, or possible next. When I stated I couldnt leave my vehicle for possibly two days for a state inspection, I was told I shouldnt have waited until the end of the month due to them being so busy. I advised they shouldnt tell people to arrive at 7 for something they cant address for days. Employee was rude and unprofessional.

Youre better off if you make an appointment. Walk-in service hit or miss.

I wouldn’t go to this place again. The front desk person was rude and unhelpful. I had an appt and was told I would have to wait behind another car. I had an appt for 7:30 and the guy told me by state law they’re not even suppose to make state inspection appts until 8am? So why the hell did you make my appt at that time and not relay the information earlier? They have no idea what they’re doing at this place. There are other better places to go in Charlottesville don’t waste your time with this company!

Alfinzo and the management ar this establishment are crooks. Just bought a car last year new tires breaks and they try and say breaks need 400.00 worth of work due to them trying to rip local cville residents took car to another location they stated they agree this business are crooks and do this to everyone unless you know owner direct stay away and beware of there taticts.

This place is horrible. The guy in the front has a terrible attitude. They tried to charge me $155 to change my blinker lights in the front of my car and tried to justify that outrageous price by saying he had to take my headlights off the car. I have never worked on a car in my life, but it literally took me 20 minutes to watch a YouTube video and change the blinker lights myself at home. NO I DID NOT HAVE TO REMOVE MY HEADLIGHTS. I know that the shops dont make much money off of state inspections, but it is completely unethical to lie and attempt to cheat customers out of money. I will never come to this place again, and I would steer everyone I know away from this place.

Went to have new tires put on, in getting the tire off the car they broke 2 lug studs, and then wanted to charge me for the replacement. after telling them why thats not right. then they said that they would cover it. Yes they replaced the lugs but then put on 2 bolts that where an odd size and did not fit. this could have really made for a bad daay if i had broke down on the road. it also took them over a week to replace the lugs too. dont go to this place. i will trust walmart over this place

Excellent selection in the soda machine.

They are VERY busy so plan accordingly. I came at 7:45 after they opened at 7:30 and was told it would be 1.5 hours for an oil change. So I made an appointment for later that day at 3:00. Showed up at 3 and waited and it still took 2 hours after he told me when I arrived that may car would be in the shop and started in 5 minutes. I know it always takes longer than expected in auto shops, but really? I probably wont be back.

I had to go to the shop because my alternator gave out while traveling on the highway. I told the guys at University Tire that it was probably the alternator, which it turned out to be. After they looked at my car they confirmed that the alternator was shot, but also the BG air induction must be serviced ($169) along with cleaning four other sensor services at cost of $50 a piece. I ask him if it was essential and if so would I be able to conduct the maintenance. I let him know that I have more time than money right now, and if I could take care of the services myself I would prefer that. He made me feel that it was absolutely essential that this stuff get taken care of and that it was extremely difficult.After getting home and checking on how to do the procedures on the internet (youtube), all of the cleaning services could be completed with very little supplies, experience or tools in probably under 30 minutes. By doing this I could have saved myself over $200.They also tried to charge me $39 for environmental disposal and shop supplies. Knowing that they only supplies they used was mass airflow cleaner ($8 for a bottle that probably would service 10 or more cars) and that they more than likely got paid to scrap my alternator, I pushed back and they decided not to charge me this fee.Previously I have had a good experience at another University Tire (Seminol Ct.), but I really feel like I was mistreated and taken advantage of at this University Tire and Auto (Pantops). I would be very wary about any extra services that they recommend.

CAUTION. THEY WILL SCAM YOU. They failed my van for state inspection due to a power steering leak. When asked to show us the leak, they were unable to. And STILL would not pass it. We had to get the Virginia State Police to come and ORDER them to pass the vehicle. Unbelievable. Thanks to the VSP for their time and assistance!

My fiance made an appointment today for an oil change for 11:40 a.m. when I got there at 11:39 I talk to a gentleman about my appointment for the oil change and he said he had no idea what I was talking about. He went to go ask the other guy that was working there, he also acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. I waited until 1250 a whole hour and 10 minutes for my car to be serviced and it wasnt even serviced so I left, I left very unhappy Im never going there again!

Tim was so courteous and helpful. He went out of his way to help me with my problem.

Only had our new truck 2weeks tire blew out went to get it changed charged xtra for a different tire then all of a sudden now its squeaky and u hear noise when u drive all that cause of a tire change .. #Crooks dont ever go here do not trust them
