They have decent drip coffee, and dairy substitutes like oat milk for no additional charge, but there is a $1 charge if you substitute for non-dairy in a latte. They offer rewards which can add up pretty quickly if you come here regularly that can get you free drinks. Their lattes are good, not too sweet but just the right amount of sweetness if you add a flavor. I recommend their caramel or hazelnut. They also have flavors like Irish cream and almond, which I don’t prefer but might work for others.They don’t have many pastry options - pretty much just croissants - so not the place if you want a coffee and a treat, or breakfast options. They also don’t offer whipped cream, if you enjoy adding that to your coffee like I do, you won’t get that here.Overall, a very nice vibe, friendly staff, good coffee. Would recommend stopping by.

The staff was friendly. I like lattes made with heavy cream - they dont offer that, so I got one with half n half. The taste was okay. Theyd make the place more inviting if it werent musty smelly. Sorry. 💔

Friendly staff who remain prompt and attentive, decent product, and decent prices. If you are passing through town its a perfectly fine option, but I would get off the highway just to try it. If you are a local, I suggest considering Grit for a go to coffee place if for no other reason than the dollar or so per drink cheaper prices and far better rewards program which together will make your wallet much happier and in turn perhaps life be a little less stressful.

It’s good to note that this location does not serve breakfast like the downtown location. They also never seem to steam the milk quite right.

Great location! Wish it was larger to sit inside on hot days, but a great hangout. It is right in the epicenter of all that is going on at Stonefield, so you can stop by in the midst of or after you go shopping or after watching a movie. Good, flavorful coffee. Definitely where all the hipsters crash to do remote work on their laptops. Love it!

Great coffee shop! Super friendly staff and a decent amount of space inside to sit and do your own thing. Its not the quietest though if youre looking for somewhere to be completely silent when you work/study. But having that said, its not loud either. Both the drinks Ive had there were not the best but I think its worth exploring more.

Really great coffee and specialty drinks. The space is modern, airy and a good place to meet colleagues, work, or just relax and enjoy watching the slight bustle of stonefield.A few things to keep in mind: The windows are west facing so there can be a lot of glare in the afternoons. It seems like a lot of college kids come here to study so the seating can be really full at certain times of the day during the school season.

This place used to be great, but its changed a lot in recent years. They used to sell Trager Brothers coffee, but now they have their own roasters and I feel it has impacted the flavor. It was very crowded the last few times I went and the crowd there (read as the regulars) made me feel like I wasnt welcome and didnt belong there. Very odd as most coffee shops are kin to all walks of life. Pricey too. They were cheaper but now they have the same prices as Starbucks, give or take. Shame. I used to love this place. Not anymore. Also they now have a policy where you cant bring in your own food. So if you go to Duck donuts and decide that you want Grit coffee, you cant have your cake and eat it too. Very disappointing.

This is my favorite place at Stonefield. Great coffee, good vibes inside. I like their downtown and Corner spots as well. Each of the locations are convenient in my path of travels around town.

The lattes were great! I had a reg. latte with a double shot of espresso.The staff were nice, and the food was average. Nice atmosphere - we went in on Easter day and it was very lively inside. Fair pricing and lots of options on the menu.

Went there for coffee one morning. They do cute designs and have a nice atmosphere. Coffee was good, but nothing that was OMG extravagant. Solid coffee and not watery.

Excellent local small business coffee place. We need to encourage more of such local owned coffee houses 🏠 that provide services to local people and travelers alike. The host was very friendly and she provided fresh brewed coffee in the late evening hours which was refreshing for a travelling person. Highly recommend place.

I really enjoy this place! Their coffee is really good, just the other day I got a latte with mint syrup and some chocolate sauce! It was so good, it felt like drinking Christmas. The vibe is very nice, the Baristas are fun, the chairs are comfy - at least the padded bench ones :-) I do wish that there was more seating available near the plugs... It can take a while to wait for one of the seats next to an outlet to open up.

I enjoy their coffee whether hot or cold. Definitely try the Nitro Brew coffee. Its delicious black with nothing added but the nitrogen.

Always great service, staff has always been friendly and helpful. Lots of seating options, though it can be packed on weekends or some afternoons with students. Prices are pretty reasonable for the area.

Good coffee to drink and whole beans

Ordered a triple shot of espresso and they gave me a double shot. They measured it and then added another shot to make it the proper 3 fluid ounces but then the two employees had a bad attitude and smug looks on their faces the rest of my visit. Will not return to any of their locations because of it. Plenty of coffee places to try...In response to your reply below. How are all of your shots called double shots when they are one fluid ounce? One fluid ounce is one shot. Is this some sort of gimmick you guys are running? Calling things something they are not is not good business practice and reassures my choice to not return.

Good coffee, laid back atmosphere, and tons of people camped out working on Macbooks. Prices were pretty reasonable. Convenient to the movie theater.

Very tasty coffee at a very reasonable price. Solid menu of baked goods as well, and plenty of room to hang out or get some work done. Grit is a classic CVille chain.

Friendly staff and great coffee. My Cuban was amazing best one Ive ever had including the Cuban Coffee Queen in Key West. Wife got the Con Leche and it was great, perfectly foamed milk. Drank them too quickly for photos.

Terrible customer service. We walked in with 6 people looking for great coffees. What we got was a bored and rude manager that acted as if we were disturbing his candy crush addiction on his phone by daring to walk into his coffee shop. I was even more surprised to hear that he was the visiting manager from another location nearby. When I complained about the service his response was that “not everyone can be overtly friendly and bubbly”, which is not what I was after. I only wanted a courteous and professional person on the other side of the counter. I will never go to this place again.

Consistently good coffee, but kind of a weird vibe where everyone stares at you when you walk in. Unfortunately, they also sell marked up, way past prime baked goods. Try a rock hard croissant... If I were Marie Bette, I wouldnt want my name associated.

I had on old favorite of mine that you dont see that much this far from Texas, the cafe con leche the foam on this was exceptional. It was thick and rich and the boldness of the coffee held up well to my gulping, Yum. We were their about 4:30ish it was nice and quite. We also order fresh brewed tea that too about 5min but the wait was worth the while. Great experience .

Friendly, efficient service. Vegan and decaf options. Salads, the occasional pasta. Free Wi-Fi. What more do you want from a coffee shop?

Love trying local third waves. Cappuccino was all foam... barely tasted any coffee and what I did taste had somewhat of an astringent overtone. Barista couldnt take the time to smile or say thank you. I guess that ok for some people!

Best coffee in Charlottesville by far. This new location has a great feel inside and their training must be great because the coffee is just has great as their other locations. Had an iced americano and a hot flat white and both were great. This one even has good food options.

Slow,staff not attentive,ordered scrambled egg sausage and cheese,took order and didnt tell me that they dont serve scrambled eggs only fried.cook one order at a time. Would not recommend.

This place is my new favorite. They make a really great vanilla latte and the baristas are quick and friendly!

Tasty coffee and the barista was friendly, but the gal taking orders was obviously displeased that she had to do any work (I.e. ringing up a customer and writing their order on the cup) but otherwise it was a cute spot. Seems from the other reviews that struggles with customer service are not uncommon with this spot.

The atmosphere is good and the space itself is welcoming and very well lit. I do not like that there is inconsistency with their drinks. Some of the baristas are either not well trained or they just do a mediocre job with some drinks, e.g., café con leche and lattes, which is highly disappointing. However, what I find the most disappointing is the inconsistency of service. Some days when I visit Im welcomed warmly by the baristas and receive great service. Unfortunately one of the younger female employees is very rude, Ive had multiple interactions with her and she has been rude and even aggressive in her interactions with me. I do not understand why she would do that and Im very sorry to rate the café a mere two stars due to the poor service from one employee but I believe this should be addressed so that other customers dont experience such bad service from her. Instead of feeling like Im in a nice working environment I feel like Im trying to understand why she has such negative attitude. Change this and I will gladly change my review as I enjoy the café itself and the multiple locations and light fare offerings.
