Decent coffee - not the best in C’ville but not bad and it’s also relatively affordable. I got a cappuccino and an iced latte. Both were decent. It is a good place to stop in for the ambiance - lots of tables for working or doing schoolwork. Only problem is it’s very frequently crowded so it’s hard to find a parking space and/or a spot to stay while you’re there.

Best selection of coffee in Charlottesville. If you like pourovers, and getting to pick your region -- this is your spot. They offer coffee from all over the world, at great prices/great value. Also, a modern, comfortable spot to work from, or interact with others/enjoy some conversation.

Large coffee shop located on Preston Ave. Parking could be difficult, but we arrived early enough on a Saturday morning that it wasnt an issue. A variety of roasts, drinks, and pastries are offered. I went with the Smoky Mountain (dark roast) with a splash of cream and was not disappointed. In fact, I went back for a second cup.

Great coffee in a beautiful space. Their pourover station makes me very jealous as a fellow barista! I had a great latte, and they have a vast drip coffee selection daily. This location also hosts the roastery, which is wonderful to see and smell while waiting for a drink.

Beautiful interior. They serve tasty and floral iced coffee. The place was packed and they looked like students and locals, so it must be the place to go. Excited to come back and try the rest of the menu!

I was very surprised that they had guts to make fun of my friend for ordering a smoothie here. Its interesting how they thought it would be a great idea to mock their customer for his choice.One of my friends does not drink coffee but he came with us anyway so we could spend time together. If you dont want people to order smoothie, take it off from your menu. No one deserves to be insulted like that for ordering what you offer.

The coffee was fine and the first person I encountered was friendly. While we were eating and drinking we were told to put our masks back on. We still had food and drinks in front of us and they expected us to keep our masks on. We complied to the best of our abilities but any time we took our masks down to continue eating and drinking a woman behind the counter kept sending dagger eyes our way. I work at a coffee shop and we would never treat our customers this way. I understand masks are necessary but if a paying customer is enjoying your products in your store why would you treat them with such disrespect? I am disappointed to say the least and not sure if I’ll recommend this place to anyone else.

Service good and so was the coffee. Quiet atmosphere and courteous staff. Masks are asked to be kept on and dropped down just to sip your coffee and then replaced between sips. Spacing and those rules make it one of the safest to visit.

They make a lovely cup of coffee to your specifications, and they have some quite tasty pastries. The vibe inside is chill and mellow.

This place simply delivers a fantastic product. Time and time again Ive been impressed with the coffee they have recommended, but I would say my particular favourite is the mocha as it blends a warm, cold winters day sort of hot coco with a wonderfully background taste of coffee to create the perfect drink for a rainy, productive day inside. TLDR: Come for the coffee, again and again.

I felt as if I was singled out be side I wasn’t of college age. While understanding Covid going on, I was seated well past 6 feet from anyone, I was told to put on my mask while drinking coffee. The. To have the same person approach me to tell me that my shoe was on their furniture. All they really had to say was that they didn’t want me there.Not to worry. I will not return.

Very nice staff and great setting, also they make their own whipped cream for their hot chocolate.. no one does that! Its so good!

Delicious and finely roasted beans, with enough snacks and open seating spaces to make this a very attractive stop for a lazy weekend or empty afternoon. The staff moves quick, and even widely varied orders are always quickly filled. Just be aware that during popular times you may have a hard time finding a spot to park your car or yourself.

This is the coffee roaster that all others are compared to in my mind. Each bean carefully roasted, each cup painstakingly brewed. If it gets better, I havent found it yet.

This place is mask hysteria central. Went in to order coffee and every seated customer kept their mask on, even with coffee in front of them. Complete insanity. Wont bother coming back until this place stops dehumanizing people by treating customers like nothing more then a potential pathogen to be contained.At the very least, just comply with best practices. Touching your mask repeatedly to move it as you drink or eat is not a healthy practice. Stop encouraging customers to do it.

I love their coffee. It’s a decent roast, nothing too fancy but they have some great flavors.But I wouldn’t recommend buying whole bean from their store. They charge $6 more for the same 1lb bag of coffee you can get at Harris Teeter/Kroger.That being said I’ve been drinking their coffee exclusively at home for over two years and have no desire to switch.

I unfortunately did not have a good experience. It seemed like everyone was a new hire and did not know how to act or about the menu. When I asked if there were flavors about coffees I was not let know about the huge extra charge so I ended up buying a $6 mediocre coffee that had coffee grinds in it. They also were advertising their smoothies as fresh but then I was let know that they were all purees except for one frozen smoothie.

Shen Joes never disappoints. Wonderful drinks (chai latte 😋) and whole beans to grind at home! Thank You!

Shenandoah Joe is the place to be!!! The staff is incredible, and the environment is very relaxed and friendly. It feels like a small town coffee place because those working will always remember your name! My favorite employee is Megan! She’s funny and nice and works so hard! I love getting to chat with her whenever I go in.

This is a great place. Preston Avenue location is roomy and welcoming. Their coffee is outstanding; Daves Blend is my favorite roast to drink at home. I do wish they were open some evenings, and had one or two more baked goods options that werent sweet (bagels or rolls).

Ignorance is bliss, zealots for the god of Fear. They serve me food and kicked me out for not wearing the mask while eating.

I have been going here for years and years, and plan to keep going for years to come.I got hooked on this place way back in high school, when I went in and order a mocha, and for the first time I could remember, actually tasted the espresso.If you want to order a machiatto and not end up with a caramel latte, these are your people.If you want a tasty source of caffeine in the morning and you do want that caramel latte, they will be more than happy to hook you up.And for you enthusiasts who are looking to try out a bunch of single source coffees, and buy fresh roasted beans to bring home and explore, this is a great place, with plenty of new coffees rotating through the board.The one issue here is parking, which can be an exceptional pain when they get busy, but it is worth taking the time and effort to go down a side street and find a place to stash your vehicle.

Great little coffee place in town. The people were super nice, but there wasn’t a lot of seating. We had a hard time finding a place. There’s seems to be room to add some more seating. Other than that the coffee was great!

The new store is looks great! An excellent place to study, work, or just read a great book. I am excited to try the new tasting opportunities - it is a whole new world of coffee!!

I love going to this coffee shop. Its better than any other in town. The people that work there are personable and remember me and my order, and you can tell they love being there. I recommend this place to anyone who loves great company, and a delicious cup of joe :)

Dave roasts the best coffee in town!Ability to create custom coffee blends is really awesome. He blends a delicious Junction Joe for the restaurant, Junction, in Belmont. Hes also been roasting the custom blended Cowboy Coffee for years for my family.I love stopping in to pick up coffee, its a great excuse, not that I need done, to get something yummy to sip on!The the shop itself has an awesome chill vibe where you can just work or chat. The renovations and expansion were done really well.

This is a hip coffee spot that is serious about coffee. Maybe a little too serious though (lighten up a little, guys). Bathrooms were clean, lots of spots to hang out and get some work done. Decor is industrial. They have some epic water bottles for sale too.

Pleasant atmosphere, everyone smiled. Enjoyed my cold brew and gluten free pound cake. Unfortunately my laptop had connection issues so I didnt stay too long but I will go back. Also, bought beans!

My favorite thing to get here is the iced mocha (the best I’ve ever had). I also love to fill up my growler I purchased here with their cold brew. Lots of seating, quick service and high quality coffee. It’s my favorite local coffee shop.

Had a medium iced latte - and Im fully aware this drink may not be the best drink to judge. But it was perfect. Perfect blend. Great after taste. And I loved the cubes. Will seek out this shop every time Im in town.

Wonderful fresh coffee beans, great single origin selection

Stepping inside the door, I was greeted with the goodness aroma of fresh brewed coffee. The spaciousness, caught me by suprise, in the most inviting way. As the cashier rang my bill, she spoke my name, which made it a personal connection instead of a business transaction. I decided to hang out in the space to enjoy a cup of latte with a croissant. So glad I did. The richness of the coffee and the fullness of the croissant, made the experience more pleasurable.

Shenandoah Joe Coffee Roasters is a great coffee shop in Rose Hill in Charlottesville, Virginia. It opens before 8am on a weekend and brews really good beans including decaf beans. Their latte was perfectly creamy and just needed a tab simple syrup for my sweet tooth.The space itself is massive with all types of seating from bar seating to couches to wood tables. They offer strong, free wifi making it a great place to get work done.If you love coffee and/or love beautiful spaces, come to Shenandoah Joe Coffee Roasters. Its one of the best in town!

This is a really great work space as well as a good coffee place.There are long tables, counters, a few chairs, and a few round tables which you can use to get your work done. The Wi-Fi is fast enough. I didnt experience any significant lag working online, although you might have trouble gaming. I dont know, as I didnt test that.The coffee is great, and the Baristas seem to care about the quality of their drinks. On a whim I asked if they could do a heart in the foam instead of the pretty little leaf pattern they generally do and they did that very nicely.There arent many snacks available here, but since the emphasis is on a large selection of coffees I think thats fine.There is a Pokestop stop here as well as several stops and gyms on the same block, so you can get a coffee and walk around topping up on items if need be.Theres only one major complaint I have about this location. Parking is very complicated. Because its such a nice place to work, you might have to park on the street off to the side because they only have a few spots in the actual lot unless you want to risk parking in the pharmacy spaces next door.This is very annoying, although I want to note that coffee is good enough that most people consider it a worthwhile price of admission.

Wow - this place has some of the best coffee I have ever had. I would give it six stars if they had a location in Maryland. It is clear they dont burn the beans by roasting too fast like StarSucks does. Huge location with plenty of comfy seating. Highly recommended if youre sick of drinking coffee that is not properly roasted. This place gets it right.

After moving away from Charlottesville, I can honestly say I will miss the local charm of this coffee shop. Their newly renovated Preston avenue location is gorgeous and has lots of new study spaces. Not to mention their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful about their coffee.

Good coffee, selection & service. Comfortable environment. Places to sit & internet. I usually have my quota of coffee for the day by 6AM, before these places even open, so I typically make it at home. The last batch I purchased there was ground for auto-drip, flat-bottom basket, but was ground too fine, backed up all over the counter and into every nook and cranny of the coffee maker, so either ask to adjust for a coarser grind, or do it yourself at home.

Good coffee shop. Almost just as pricey as Starbucks which Im used to. Parking lot is small and tricky. Big coffee shop with places to sit and work or sit and sip, or both!

The coffee and chai was great and it seems a great place to study/focus. But the service wasn’t good. I asked the lady at the cash register a few questions about the menu and she didn’t answer any of them and acted very haughty. I didn’t want to stay after that.

Best coffee in Charlottesville, but there is never a place to park. Tiny parking lot and very limited steet parking makes this a hard spot to visit unless you live nearby. Other than standard espresso drinks, try the mocha which is delicious without being too sweet.

Moving from Toronto which is riddled with Indy coffee places I thought I would have trouble finding a decent cafe in Charlottesville. Happy to be proven wrong with Shenandoah leading the way. Fantastic coffee with super nice customer service! Comparable to any top cafes in Toronto, NYC, SF or Seattle!

The food is minimal and eh, but you dont go there for food; you go there for coffee, to do work, have a discussion with a good friend or all 3.

Support local businesses!!!I thought a dishonest employee at this location took advantage of me when I did not finalize the transaction on their Square POS system and gave themselves an $11 tip for selling me a bag of coffee. When I reached out to the management I was put in direct contact with the owner and he assured me it was an honest mistake. This is why locally owned small businesses are SO MUCH BETTER than big box stores or online retailers like Amazon. Will support Dave and his company in future!

Its not as cozy as their Ivy location, but the chance to watch the magic of coffee roasting more than makes up for the industrial feel of the interior. As usual, the coffee is excellent, even if the selection is intimidating. Shenandoah Joes doesnt brew their coffee in advance, using the pour over method instead, but the extra time is a good thing, because it really brings out the flavors in their impressive selection of international blends.

I can drink it everyday! So good mostly the hot chocolate!
