Had a great experience buying a new Weber grill from Martin Hardware. They are knowledgeable about all their products. They assembled my grill and two very nice gentlemen came out to my house in Keswick and delivered it to exactly where I wanted it. They made sure everything worked, and gave me a run down on the product I had just purchased. They called ahead and arrived exactly on time. So glad I didn’t buy the same product on Amazon or at Lowe’s. Go local. You won’t regret it!

EXCELLENT HARDWARE STORE. This place is what a real hardware store is supposed be. Prices are reasonable. Best place for Webber grills and replacement parts. The people there are nice and know their business.

I am a frequent and loyal customer! The employees are knowledgeable and have been very very helpful with an array of project--never condescending. The selection of single item hardware is incredible (for when you just need 2 particular screws) and the garden center downstairs is a hidden gem!

Ill be honest with you. This review seems a bit pointless. If you are anywhere in the area, you know of this place, and you know how good it is.They dont have the physical space to stock all the things you would find at a big chain hardware store, but chances are that what you need for what you are doing, they have it, and they have the version they believe in, rather than every brand under the sun.Their staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable, and really what defines who and what this store is. If you are anywhere nearby, and you need some tool or odd little widget for a project, stop in, get quality advice, good products at fair prices, and support a local institution.

No return policy on open products. I had to open it to see if it fit didnt, fit spent $32 on something that was non returnable. I thought there would be signs or something. They say to shop local why Lowes would have returned it. I will bad-mouth this store until they close their doors😒

I love this store. Just like the one I use to go to with my grandfather. Nice, home owned and operated. I see people complaining about return policies and I have returned things and they took it back right away. No problems at all. I also have them help me and they are good about helping me. So not sure about the complaints on here.

Exceptional local hardware store. Called about a Weber grill and they had it fully assembled and ready for pick up a couple hours later. Awesome customer service and old school vibe.

I purchased a can of mineral spirits from Martin Hardware as part of a project I was doing. I used the spirits and then set the can on my workbench. When I came back a few days later the can had leaked all over my bench and removed the finish. Because of the damage it did, I put the can outside so it couldn’t do any more damage to my house/furniture. It was a few weeks before I could get to the store to try to exchange or return (this store is open roughly the same hours I’m at work and not on Sundays, making it difficult to get over there while they are open) and the manager made a production of the fact that it had been a few weeks and I didn’t have a receipt. “How do I believe you,” is what he asked. I ended up leaving the leaking can and driving straight to Lowe’s to make my purchases. I usually try to do business with mom and pop businesses over big box stores, but in this case I know that Lowe’s would have replaced the item without complaint and would not have questioned my character in the process. Unfortunately I will not be returning to Martin Hardware.

First time in this store today though I had passed by many times before. Great store and selection and especially good for finding things you cant find elsewhere...

Aggressively unhelpful - I called to ask if I could make a pickup order - they said to just come in the store. I explained that I’m quarantined with my mom who’s over 65 and I’d rather not, I described the part I was looking for and the dude cut me to say just come in the store. They don’t want to take the time to make their customers safe.

The only reason I cant give them 5 stars is because they cant possibly carry all the things you might need for various home improvement projects. I wish there were room for nuance on these reviews because they deserve a 4.5 star review. 5 stars for service and helpfulness, 4 stars for selection and accessibility.

You cant beat a small community hardware store - they are a dying breed. Generally, they have every regular tool, device, fastener, paint, glue, brush, etc. you need for residential renovation. I just purchased a light-duty bench vise there. Heck, they even carry the 6-foot zippers for plastic/poly dust barriers. Generous return policy - 30 days with receipt. Helpful staff, who know what is stocked on the shelves and knowledgeable about construction. They have lumber and larger materials and equipment in the basement.Every time I go in there I wander all the aisles just to familiarize myself with what they have.

A hardware store with a great location where staff know what theyre talking about, have basic interpersonal skills, give helpful tips, and dont blunderbustle when you ask them a direct question about a home project. Ill make ten trips here before I drive up nightmare 29 once to Lowes to dig through pallets of warped lumber served up by employees with chips on their shoulders. Staff also has your back when roadrage motorists follow you into their store and threaten to fight you. So lets say great conflict mediation skills are the cherry on top.

I WENT FOR A QUART OF PAINT. THE QUART WAS THE SAME PRICE AS A GALLON. WHICH WAS CRAZY WHEN I DIDNT NEED THAT MUCH. THE MAN WAS RUDE N SO WAS THE WOMAN CASHIER. THE TWO MEN IN THE BACK WHERE THE NAILS WERE. WERE VERY FRIENDLY.I HAVE BEEN GOING HERE FOR YRS. U NEED TO CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS YOUR CUSTOMERS.

In the age of big box stores and online shopping I cannot overstate the value of a good local hardware store like Martins. The staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable, they also have a remarkably large inventory meaning trips to the home despot are thankfully few and far between.

This place does an impressive job of packing useful stuff from floor to ceiling in its tiny space. Once you go a few times you can get a feel for their organization method. Its a great store, with competitive prices and a surprisingly comprehensive product line. It saves me many a trip to the big box stores.

Love Martin Hardware. This is my local go-to for all things DIY at home. The people who work there are laid back and super helpful and very knowledgeable. Its a little hard to move around in since they have so much inventory but I have never not found what Im looking for.

The big box stores serve their purpose (I visit them without compunction) but they can not replace the town hardware. Sometimes I think their are more employee asking if they can help than there are customers. Martins is priceless..

Bad return policy. I bought a shovel here yesterday. Within the first pass of using it on my paved driveway it split in half. I tried to exchange the item the next day and was told “I should have bought a better shovel.” They wouldn’t let me return or exchange the item. I’m sorry, but it seems like bad business to blame your customer for buying the garbage you are selling. No sense in giving business to a store that doesn’t focus on customer satisfaction. I hate having to give my business to a big corporation like Lowe’s, but at least I have assurance in my purchases.

This is a good store in town that will have all the hardware essentials you might need. They have a gardening section but its not huge. It is a little packed for a small space but you can ask anyone that works there for help and they will happily do so.

Beyond their many rows of hardware, which you could find anything you need in, they are also a Weber dealer. My family has bought 3 Weber Genesis grills from Martins and we will return to them for all our grill needs in the future. Ask for Chris, his knowledge of the Weber will amaze you.

So Im all for shopping locally and avoiding corporate spots but at more than double the cost; Ill pass. Needed a bag of 20 minute drywall which they wanted almost $20 bucks for a small bag. Same stuff is like $8.50 at Lowes and Home Depot. So needless to say the management has priced themselves right out of the game. The service might be good, but they better be spackling at these prices!

Every square inch of space is used, and they sometimes only have two of any given item... but holy cow, do they manage to pack an entire home improvement store into that little place! Every staff member knows exactly where every single item is. Its been rare that I havent found what Im looking for. If you live in central or south Charlottesville, this is a great place to shop instead of driving all the way to 29N.
