My husband wanted to add double swinging doors so that we could get bigger equipment out of the gate easier. Johnny came by because “he had time” a few days ago, took the deposit and began the job by ripping the current section up & digging holes for new posts. They ran into a power line, and suggested that we would need a smaller opening cut to this, ok fair enough. But since then there has been NO communication despite numerous calls/ texts.I AM OFFICIALLY OVER VIRGINIA CONTRACTORS

Chesapeake fence did an outstanding job they cleaned up after themselves the fencing is high-quality and I have gotten nothing but compliments from people in my neighborhood.

Good professional install. Workers were polite and courteous. Told me an arrival time and showed up on time. Fence looks great.

If I could rate Chesapeake Fence as zero stars, I would. The salesman didnt understand the work and quoted it incorrectly. The installer (a by-the-job-contractor) did poor quality work. The service manager tried to make me doubt my own eyes and the evidence of a level. The owner made commitments to come and take a look and then refused to follow up. Thousands of dollars and a dozen work days have left me with a mess that I still have to spend money to address. This was a simple job. I would avoid at all costs.

Totally disappointed in this company. Recently purchased a home that had their sign on my fence so I decided to try and give them repeat business. I needed a gate added to my already existing fence, easy right? I called waited a week for a response and then another week for someone to come out for a quote. AJ told me he would have the quote to me in 5 minutes, then he left with no phone call and off the clock because here we are into the next week with no returned phone call. So, I called the main office where it sounds like I just interrupted the guys morning nap, with no effort to resolve this issue.My existing fence is fairly decent, which is why I left 2 stars.

I called to get an estimate. Johnny came out to do the estimate, requested survey, which I provided immediately and he never called me back. When I called him, he was talking very slow saying he was waiting to hear from the city and he would call me back later that day. Days went by and I never got call back- when I called, he texted me stating he was in a meeting. He still never called me back. I was extremely frustrated at the level of unprofessionalism, so I called the company and asked the receptionist to have one of the owners call me back, I told her what had happened. It has been yet another week and even the owners didn’t call me back.Really sad as I’m a business trying to support them

Signed a contract in August to replace two panels of wooden fence and a gate. Paid $800 in advance and still waiting as of November. Now they sent out a letter saying it wont be till January. I called to get my money back and they said I would lose my deposit. That is poor service. You dont do this to an elderly person. Avoid this company.

Quite frankly, timeliness and responsiveness are the top main reason for this unfavorable review.For starters, I do like the fact that they manufacture their own gates and fence material...they cut to size and custom make gates to the customers likes-which was a selling point for me, and ultimately, one of the determining factors to go with them.First, it is important to note that this is solely a review on Chesapeake Fence & Awning Co Inc and not the Sub-Contractor installation contractors they use. That said, know that, it isn’t Chesapeake Fence Company installing, it’s a sub-contractor that does the installation-Chesapeake Fence is a pseudo manufacturer/middle entity…they did not disclose that in the beginning, and to their credit, perhaps is not the “norm” in this industry to do so (albeit says a lot about transparency).Secondly, I would like to say that the sub-contractor used for this contract did a good job, and were responsive to discrepancies noted - Im still worried that the post they hand pulled and then sledge hammered back in wasnt set as stated it would be over the weekend from all the rain as it didnt rain nearly as much as anticipated, and no additional water was poured in the posts...citing that the moisture will absorb into the concrete and mix in and set hard.Third, whom we spoke with to begin with back in Nov/Dec 2019 and again Jan/Feb 2020 no longer works at Chesapeake Fence, so some issues w/ what was discussed versus what was installed (lesson learned and pro tip: ask for the scope of work in detail so you can look at what you discuss vs what is being installed). As the project date approached COVID put a dent in the timeline and understandably, things would be delayed-but to go completely silent, come on!?!?! A 6-8 week timeline (given early march) turned into an Aug install.So let’s now fast fwd to where we are today-I wish Chesapeake Fence was as responsive and timely as they are with invoicing than they were with customer service/contact. My biggest complaint was that, as the customer, I had to ping, poke and prod for a response - it was only once or twice that I can recall, that we were contacted (unprompted) about the timeline and associated COVID related delays. When I brought this up to whom seemed to be the project manager or foreman (Charles) he offered were just so busy (not a good response to a customer who already put down a couple thousand on the project).What was unsettling to hear when I asked about the method of installation and specifically, not pouring water into the dry concrete, was “well, we let the sub-contractor do what they feel is best, and besides it’s a one year warranty”…while it’s great to have a warranty, it gives me no reassurance as to the methodology of installation. But that’s neither here nor there. The overarching issue was customer care and consideration. I’m by far no fence expert, but I’m quite a DIYer and do my due diligence to research and find out about things, and then confer with experts as I thought I had in this case, only rationalizing versus answering my questions was what I got. I actually got a lot more responsiveness and insight from the sub-contractor…and in hindsight, wonder about having just had the sub-contractor come and install pre-purchased material, and take a gamble on the gates.Lesson learned for sure…I’ve got more fencing to get done, and after this project, I know how to best proceed-and most importantly, whom not to proceed with-at least for the time being.I sincerely hope that Chesapeake Fence takes this as constructive criticism that they can improve their brand-customer service goes a long way…and when a customer is following up with the company and not the other way around, that is an indicator of some “in-house” process refinements to embark on. Maybe even some software applications to ensure follow up contact/email/text/calls are being conducted may pay huge dividends-over to Chesapeake Fence to look into that…or not.

Dont waste your time. I first contacted them over a month ago to schedule a fence estimate for nearly an acre of residential property. Since that time I sent 2 additional emails and called 4 times. Although the receptionists were nice, we never received a callback from sales person to schedule a fence estimate. Needless to say, disappointed that they wasted my time contacting them multiple times for more than a month and never received either a sales rep call back or fence estimate scheduled.

I called Chesapeake Fencing 6/9/2020 @ 12:20 p.m., Two years ago, they install a awning on the side door to my home and did a great job and very the price was reasonable. Since then I had it removed as I had a garage built in its place but savaged the bolts and the awning. I ask the guy if they could re-install the awning since it is in outstanding condition and the bolts are here in great shape. the guy at Chesapeake Fence it cant be done and I would have to pay for labor. I am fine with paying for labor as I dont have tools to finish it, but thought they would. He did not want to hear it nor help. He was interested in saling me something new and not wanting to help me notsurprisedhe does not want to work nor help out on the call as well. Sad! everyone go elsewhere they people dont want your business at all. I bought stuff in the passed and first time I get told I cant help you. What a bunch of buffoons! Sale your business you have people on the payroll that dont want work. This place is a joke they dont back their work at all but will take your money. Yep go elsewhere people trust me when I say it. THEY DONT WANT TO HELP OR WORK AT AL L!!!

Ha ing waited for 4x4 pressure treated posts for 2 months due to pandemic, they responded quickly to my need to purchase french gothic posts. They quickly cut the post while I waited. Only downside was the cost was 3x the pre-pandemic average price.

We received an overall quote May 11, 2020 from Jacob. We needed three separate contracts for my husband and I and our two neighbors, so we kept calling back. We finally got in touch with Jacob on May 27th, and he told us he would drop our contracts off the next day. We never heard back. After over 12 attempted calls in the span of 5 weeks, we still have not heard back. The front desk has taken many of our messages, but we never received a call back, nor any of the 3 contracts. I wish we would have worked with another company 5 weeks ago because our fence could’ve been done by now. I’m not one to leave negative reviews, but with this extreme lack of customer service and disregard for 3 clients, I would urge you all to find a different company to work with.

The crew arrived the time that was given and ready to work. They were professional, kind, and very precise. They installed the fence in one day and I dont have a small yard. They were a GREAT group of guys. They conducted several walk arounds to ensure I was satisfied and picked up behind themselves.. They were just awesome and we are always getting compliments on how good our fence look.

I had a short time line for my project, and I was thrilled with the professionalism and craftsmanship from start to finish. Jacob was awesome getting all the details and requirements for the job. The crew showed up as scheduled, and were all very polite, knowledgeable, and hard working. They are totally precise, ensuring my fence was placed exactly as needed. The workmanship was EXCELLENT - no gaps and each picket perfectly aligned. Every recommendation made was spot on. It was a true pleasure to work with this company, and I cant recommend them more highly!

On August 20 a representative from the company came out to give me an estimate for a screen porch and deck. Cant remember his name. He was new and showed up late. He took measurements and said he would get back to me in a few days. I did have my doubts about this person.Showed up late, could tell he was unorganized and did not leave a business card. It was about a $15-$20 thousand dollar job. I just hired someone else and find it difficult Chesapeake Fence apparently was not interested. Good Luck if you choose this company.

Super happy with their service. They were able to do the job within one week of my first contacting them. Had the job done in less than a day. I liked it so much, that I immediately had another idea for a porch rail and enclosing gate. I called and they again did it within a week. There was a small detail that was not as pretty as I had imagined, not anything that was wrong - just not as aesthetic as I thought - so they changed it for free.

Needed replacement cedar split dog ear fence pickets, great customer service and great product.

They put my fence in just over a year ago and I have been calling for them to return to correct the sloppy, no connecting screws, gaps in the panels, the gate does not open without two hands. Not to mention the gate sags and the entire fence looks like they were blind when was installed, Crooked, out of line and up and down the entire yard, nothing level. Curb and sight appeal is horrendous and devalues my home. The post caps were never glued on. They have come out to make small repairs after many complaint calls from me and still over half of my fence is not repaired and the gates do not work correct. The staff are very abrupt as they want me to leave them alone.AND REMEMBER THIS I AM 75 AND NOT IN THE BEST OF HEALTH..They have basically given me the run around for the last 8 months...BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND HAVE THEIR JOB INSPECTED BY A THIRD PARTY if you should make the mistake of calling them

Chesapeake Fence is an institution! I have never been disappointed by any of their work. I needed a 25 ft section of my existing fence replaced. The estimate was timely, on point and reasonable. Yesterday Alex and his helper came and installed the fence in less than an hour! And it was perfect. When was the last time that happened to you? I then, the same day, called in, spoke to a secretary or clerical person, who was nice enough. I explained to her that I left my inquiry online. With some hesitancy, she took my name, told me she would look for my inquiry.Never heard anything from anyone.A week later, I found a way to email my request, on their site. I emailed as they wanted.Never heard anything from anyone.

They were great to work with and did an excellent job....excellent precision and super friendly group. The whole process was quick from getting an estimate to finishing the job..highly recommend.

They installed a cedar fence for us. Everyone we talked to with the company was polite. Their price was comparable to 2 other quotes but the craftsmanship on their fence was far superior to other installations. Highly recommend them!Update. The gate started sagging so I called the company to repair. First thing I was told this was installed wrong. I was given the option for replacing the concrete for free which would likely only be a temporary fix or install larger posts for a fee. The rest of the fence still looks fantastic but I was disappointed that I had to pay additional for a repair that was admittedly done incorrectly.

Corey and his crew did an awesome job on our cedar fence, it looks great. We had to ask him for some strange request. He was more than accommodating and changed everything we asked. He really seems to take pride in his work. The entire company has been so nice to work with. They showed up when they said they would. I would recommend Chesapeake Fence.

I called to this business on two different occasions over about a months time. I was told both times that someone would give me a call back which never happened. The second time I called the man that answered the phone was giving me lots of reasons why they might not do the work. He seemed argumentative when I was just asking to have someone come to the house. They obviously didnt want my business.

Three weeks ago, Mike, from Chesapeake Fence company came to my home to measure and give me an estimate for an aluminum patio cover over a concrete patio we recently poured. He was to create the quote and email it to me. I have received nothing, and have called TWICE to try to get some information on whether or not I am going to receive a quote. The first time I called, I reached a gentleman who acted as if I was a bother and said he had no idea whether Mike had been able to create a quote and I would have to call back. I called yesterday and talked to a young woman who basically told me the same thing, that she would have to talk to Mike to find out where the quote was.I have to say I am SHOCKED that a company with such great reviews, has basically IGNORED my request to give them money?!?!?!? I realize its not a HUGE job, but geez people.....if you dont want the job, just tell me?!?! I have a BIG MOUTH and will tell everybody I come in contact with that Chesapeake Fence company isnt interested in taking care of the little people.

Terrible customer service. Avoid this company. The first time they came to install my fence it was wrong. I was told it would be rushed to have it corrected. That was 2 weeks ago. I have called 3 times to find out when my new install date is and no one returns my calls. This last time when I asked if my call would be returned, the response was I am not going to break any ones arm to return a call. This company needs serious help with its customer service! It should not take 3 months to get a fence.

We ignored several red flags along the way. When my husband went in to their office there were people leaving in a fuss making a lot of the same complaints we find ourselves making.Charles (Jr.) will say and promise anything to make the sale. Take my advice and get every single thing he promises in writing. Youll still fight for it, youll still be accused of being nasty to a poor little mom and pop business when you try to get what you thought you were paying for, youll still get a runaround (its the schedulers fault, its the builders fault, its everyones fault but Charles), but youll have a better chance when you have to get lawyers involved.Charles Jr. is hands down the most unprofessional person Ive ever had the displeasure to speak to.Most of the actual builders are very hard working and skilled but they are working with incorrect measurements and instructions.Best of luck if you choose them. They do quote for less money than the competition, but if you want something built correctly, the first time, and without need for repair every month, I would pay extra.

Unfortunately Ive been very unsatifised with my work since installment. At first everything seemed alright but it fell apart without help from the company.

Avoid this company at all cost. Every time strong winds come through our fence falls apart. Ive had them come out twice to fix it and still the same issue.

They did a very good job.

In a 3 Week time period I have called the Chesapeake branch twice requesting a bid on a job and no one has returned my call. If this is a reflection of their customer service and the job that they are going to do I think Im going elsewhere.
