I absolutely loved this place as soon as I walked in. It smelt so good! Oh it was super clean! No clutter, floors are Shiny, the staff are nice. I went in on a Saturday morning (October 23) and I was greeted by the STORE OWNER! That really took me for a shocker that the store owner was working on a Saturday morning. She was so kind and sweet. They were very quick with getting back to me with the items that I brought in. I’ve been to plenty of Once Upon of Child’s store and this one tops them all!!!!

Went here for the first time on today and brought in my daughter’s baby clothing that she never got a chance to wear from last year-all but one item was brand new with tags- along with a pair of brand new fashionable dress shoes and was offered $6.00 for all 7 items. I am better off continuing to sell on websites. How insulting! I will never be back nor purchase from here!!!!!

Love the prices & clothes here and the amount they give you for clothes is great however the process for selling clothes is a headache. After I was able to submit clothes for consideration they returned them to me in a mess shoved in a bag. Frustrating because i have to present them neat and folded just for that respect to not be returned. I was going to try another OUAC but if I have to fold these clothes (close to 40 items) again for a third time now it’s just honestly not worth it.

Great place! Very good Quality clothes and good prices! Love it! The only thing I am confused about is that the kids Childrens Place brand are a bit too expensive the shirts are $4.50 and at the store is $4.99 brand new, the jeans are $8.50-$9.50 and brand new at store is $11.00-$15.00 not much of a difference but other than that is great.

Came in recently needing to buy my son some clothes, found lots of amazing things for him and everything was very neat and easy to find. However, all but one person at the front of the store was incredibly rude to me and my family. One lady rolled her eyes, another staring and shaking her head, and I assume because my son was crying. As a young mom, I do my best to be kind to everyone and make sure my son is not throwing tantrums in buildings (because while it aggravates others it’s also extremely stressful for me). The lady who checked me out was very curt and rude when we inquired about a stroller price, as it was inside a compartment, and we genuinely did not see it. I have severe anxiety and prefer to not bother others, so I wouldn’t have asked if I had seen it. Only one lady actually was helpful and understanding of helping us get the stroller folded and priced, and was kind about my sons behavior. My son was tired and stressed, and I apologize if he caused anyone stress in his behavior, but I do the best I can and being kind to someone goes a long way. I love once upon a child, and will continue shopping there, but I do feel I will not return to this location because of the way we were treated. I also understand, this is a popular business and our business and clientele is not necessary to keep this store open, and I don’t want to seem like a “Karen” because I am usually very apologetic and understanding, but this was one of the worst shopping experiences I have ever had.

I love once upon a child. I love there prices and their shelves are always stocked! and they always have what I am looking for.the staff isnt very outgoing or just not very noteworthy just there. but they do their job and thats good enough for me.

I was in here the other day shopping for my children and was honestly really disappointed with this store. It was very messy and a lot of the clothes I picked out were visibly stained. The staff were rude to me as well with their tones, as if they just wanted to scoot me along because I was an inconvenience. I was hoping to get some back to school clothes but ended up leaving with nothing. I don’t think I’ll be returning to this store.

Blatantly biased. My fiancé, whom lives in the same house as me brought our daughters clothes here and received $170 ish for 3 bags of clean girl clothes and shoes. TWO days later I came myself to bring the remainder of clothing we had to sell (2 medium size bags and a couple of toys, swing set chairs etc) . I was offered $14.00. Now, I understand they do not take wrinkled, stained, or damaged clothing. These were formal dresses, name brands and other items that could’ve been accepted had the Caucasian women in this business taken the time to look through just as they did everyone else’s. I had only been out of the store for about TEN minutes before I got the call to come back. When I came back, without explanation I was told I could get $14 for what was in the bin which looked like ONE dress and the toys. When they gave me my bags back, some items were still partially folded, and the clothing did not look sorted through. I feel as though they deemed my items unsellable from the moment I came in the door. The point I’m making is, my clothes were not evaluated due to 1. The bias employees you hired, she already seemed irritated that I brought bags, as this was my first time doing this myself and I did not know. Or 2. They were lazy and did not want to sort through the clothes and simply gave me $14 for the two toys included with the clothes. Either way, supporting small local businesses is hard when you feel as if you are being judged by how you look when you come into a store. If I was a jolly Caucasian women with the same type of clothing I’m almost certain that they would’ve bought them. I’m not sure that I’ll be returning with my clean items (she advised the swing set/sit me up chair had stains and if I could get them off I could bring them back) because this isn’t the first time I’ve heard of these incidents and based off of these reviews management may need to instill some equality/customer service training.

Great selection of clothes for babies, and everyone in the store was really nice to us! I wish we had this store in DC.

They stole a toy and tried saying I had cat hair in my clothes and they didn’t even go through the clothes I brought in. I will never come back to this location.

The current clearance sale is terrible. The stuff out is terrible and needs to be placed in the trash. I went on Friday and specifically asked if they were putting out more stuff throughout the sale and was told no. There about 10 things in my daughters size and 4 of them were dirty and had strains. They just get you in there and hope that you will buy other stuff since you are already there.I went to both chesapeake locations before posting this review

A waste of time....they gave me back basically everything that I had folded neatly in my bag tossed everwhere. Then told me it couldnt be wrangled. Some stuff had no wrinkles at all take a look.

Please note that I have only purchased from OUAC, never sold clothes to.Love this store!! I really like how they have everything sorted out, especially in comparison to the other chesapeake store. Everything was neat and tidy, and the women working up front were wonderful.

The employees are rude and harassing. Forced me to wear a mask with TWO medical lung conditions. Of which I am exempt from on Governors order. I wore it anyways. There were o ly 2 other people in the store and No where near me. Employee kept approaching me to pull mask up even though I only pulled down for a few minutes to catch my breath as I coulsnt breathe in it. She then approached me on phone with manager and asked me to leave or she was calling police. She wouldnt even let my husband whi was wearing a mask make the purchase. U WILL NEVER SHOP IN THIS STORE AGAIN!!!

I’m leaving a 2 start rating because of the customer service. Sometimes times they are friendly but MOST times they aren’t . I guess I need to just stop spending money at a place with cashiers with such bad customer service.

Decent deals on clothes for growing kids, but the selling process needs some work. I provided a container of folded clothes for review and I got back a half of container of unfolded clothes that were just tossed back in any type of way. The clothes they were making an offer for were nicely folded in their container. I was not asking for perfection folding, but some level of courtesy would have been nice. The store was not crowded and there were not alot of other containers there for review. Of course they took everything that was brand new with tags attached, but was extremely selective in taking back some of their own stuff. A generic response is not needed. I know the store buys thousands of items a day.

Clean store, most of the employees are nice and polite. There is one employee that is rude every time I go in.

All the items for sale here are like new which is amazing if youre looking to buy! If you want to sell they have pretty high standards so dont be surprised if a lot gets turned away! (Ex: I had a like new jumper they couldnt take because the manufacturers date was over 5 yrs old even though i had purchased the product brand new 6months prior) this i assume is for safety reasons so no I was not upset! I would call ahead of time with any large items and find out their rules before dropping anything off. Ps. The store smells amazing please share your secrets!!

Worst customer service experience EVER! Once Upon A Child - Chesapeake Square, VAIve always shopped at the Battlefield Blvd store, greeted with smiles, cashiers always built rapport at check out and thanked me for my business. But not today at the Chesapeake square location!! Never shopping there again! Peighton was rude and antisocial. Stuffed and jammed our clothing into the bag like filthy rags! Disgruntled disposition and unpleasant look on her face! Like she was disgusted by our presence in the store. The other staff wasnt much more friendlier either. I guess they were ready to go home or the beach🙄

Got amazing deals on really nice, new clothes for my son. Many of them still had the tags on them! It was easy to find what I was looking for because it was sorted by color, and there were tons of options in his size.

Went to the 50% off clearance sale last night thinking it was going to be terrible. Dont have great experiences with Once upon a child. Nope, it was amazing! Easy to find clearance. Helpful. Nice employees. No wait. It was decently filled with people shopping. The layout and the lighting is great. Restoring my faith! Come out of there with 8 outfits for under $20.

This was my first time going to this location. I have never been asked to show my ID when making a purchase at any other location that I have been to. I carry my card in my pocket so that I have free hands to handle my kids instead of lugging a purse around. It should be posted on the Google business page, website and any other medium that is used for this location that an ID will he needed to make a card purchase. This is a great policy for safety as long as it is made known so that you don’t have the unexpected circumstance of having to run out to your car with your 3 kids just to get your ID so you can come back in and finish checking out. Huge inconvenience. Thankful we came to the store during a slow time instead of peak hours. Tidy store, helpful staff.

Service was horrible... Some staff very rude... Brought in some brand new items with tag still on them that my son never got to wear and was offer 3 dollars for a brand-new Nike jogging suit with tag on the for 45 dollars... Thats not even close to half the price... Ive never felt so cheated... Never again will I do this😠

Took a brand new bassinet to sell, never been used because we decided to go get another color scheme. Was taken out and put together once to make sure it had all parts then put back up in the bag. Turned away for the small black “stain” and the small tear. Will definitely not be going back, especially after someone was selling a bouncer that was covered in stains and was able to sell it.

Very organized. Staff was nice. I see some comments leave reviews on not having so much clothes in one size. This is a brand new store and still considered a thrift store. You have to keep going back to see new items.

The staff are not quick to assist at the register because theres usually something else going on. Also, most of the cashiers require a higher staff member to type in discount codes which I think is super inefficient but assume its work policy. I bought a door swing the other day and the cashier didnt bother to bag it. A few weeks before that, I watched a manager instigate a petty verbal match with a customer over the onesie fill your bag promo they had going on. I do think the prices and selection are phenomenal though. Thats why we keep going back.

So me and my aunt went there and brought 2 whole containers of clothes and they gave us everything back they only took 2 things out of my whole container and they only give you half of the profit and they didn’t fold the clothes back up how I brought it their!!!! Very bad costumer service

The store had lots of cloths to choose from in all sizes for kids .. I was just browsing and checking out the prices.. The price lines are fair when you look at the quality and presentation of the merchandise. I saw infant items as low as 3.50 and on the higher end 7.50. And size 18 went as high as 9.50. There were also baby toys as well. The store makes it easy to find what you are looking for because all the cloths are hung perfectly on hangers and sized in the appropriate sections. If you are a thrifter you would love this store . I didnt give 5 stars due to not being greeted when I came in the store. Will be returning to shop next time and maybe they will not be too busy to greet me..

I would give the place no stars but I am obligated by Google to give one. I was approached unprofessionally, after 20 minutes of browsing with my fiance, for having a fire arm on my side. I politely went up to the counter to ask for a manager. After calmly explaining to the manager that they should have a sign on the door, she threatened to call the police. She insisted I was breaking the law when I was not. After I walked out of the store she tried to apologize to a customer not knowing the customer was my fiance. My fiance said 3 times she did not want hear excuses for the managers outrageous behavior, yet the manager kept going. I will never shop here again and recommend that you dont either...

It was packed with lots of stuff. New and used. It was very busy because of it being the first day open. Employees very helpful. Some items were a little expensive... Its the reason I gave only 4 stars.

Discrimination is real in this world. Today I had an interview at Once Upon a Child in Chesapeake Square. The business owner, Diane emailed me yesterday asking that I come in today for an interview. Me being professional I arrived 30 mins prior. When I first arrived I informed the four customer representatives that I was here for a interview with Diane. One lady made a smart remark, “This is going to be a lawsuit.” Immediately I felt uncomfortable. It took Diane about 40 mins to interview me. During the 40 mins wait I listened and watched her interview 5 other individuals and hire them on the spot. When it was time for her to interview me she keep it short. I could tell she felt uncomfortable because I was black and I knew immediately I did not have the job. At the end of the interview she states, “I’m going to look at your resume again and we will be in touch.” With her head tilted and with a smirk. I’m not upset because I didn’t receive the job. I’m upset because she didn’t give me the same effort she gave the “w women”. My word of advice is watch where you spend your money. You never know who you are empowering. I will NEVER spend another dime in this place

If I could give 0 stars I would.This location is always unorganized and the staff is rude everytime. The prices are high for used items and the clothes are very worn out. You can get new clothes at Walmart cheaper. Whoever is running this location needs to get a grip on pricing and who is being hired.

In the past 10yrs Ive always shopped and sold my childrens items at the battlefield location which I absolutely love however Ive been to the new location twice and was disappointed both times, next time Ill stick with battlefield!!After 4hours I called to see if my items where ready I never complained that no one ever called me, then they told me none of my items were in demand yet displayed the same items I brought to them were in demand. I think my bins were forgotten lol very poor service!!

I think its great if you are looking for inexpensive clothes to buy but not if you are trying to sell.

The lady who said she was the owner was very disorganized rude and nasty. She did not even look my 3 totes and demanded for me to tell her where I obtained my items. I never had a Once Upon a Child staff in any other of the 29 locations I have visited express such discontent. I would never shop there for any needed items. Definitely recommend going to the Newport News location.

I am giving a 3 star because there are good things and bad things with the store maybe with time the store will get better and if so I will change my review and star rating so me and my husband went into the store a couple days ago and the plus is they have a good variety of clothes and jackets for all ages I am pregnant with my 4th child and they had a bin of onesies 10 for 10$ or 1.50 each which is a good price and the store Is very organized which makes looking for clothes sizes alot easier now the negative is I ran into quite a bit of outfits that didnt have a price tag on it like most of the fuzzy winter onesies were 3.50 each (the ones that had tags) then there was one that didnt have a tag and it turned out to be almost 5$ which is a little high for used clothes and that goes for some of there other items like there baby swing (65$) they had and some of the other bigger items this store is a thrift store with used items they shouldnt be priced as high on some of there stuff that is used now dont get me wrong they have a couple new items still with tags that have good deals like a jacket brand new was 130$ they had it for 25$ thats a good price but i went to walmart today and they had some of the same winter outfits on sale brand new from 7$ down to 5$ so for a used outfit I got a whole 50 cent off thats not a good deal and there was two outfits I saw a couple light stains on them that they probably over looked when placing them out so all in all this store has some good deals and some not so much the prices are kinda high for a used store and there isnt price tags on everything so pick and choose what you get but like I said I will definitely keep an eye out and if things change or something good happens Ill keep you informed and change my ratings

Some workers can be very rude and inconsiderate, and I’ve seen that multiple times at Chesapeake and Greenbrier location. Makes me not want to shop there anymore sometimes.
