Ive been here several times and really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere and service are great. The food however, has always been bland and less than expected. Example: Tonight I ordered the Burger of the Week which was supposed to have blue crab Mac n cheese. The crab was barely there, as was the Mac n cheese. (See picture). No flavor in this and most food in the past. Cheese on my burger and another in my party both cold.
Very poor service. Over an hour for a burrito and eggs, with 6 customers and 2 cooks. Saw the waitress twice in an hour and a half. The food was terrible. It was very cold and very poorly prepared. I will not come to this establishment again. Good live music, though that wasn’t what I came here for.
It was good, but my burger was under cooked. We will visit again in person, definitely other things on the menu to try and local brews.
Good atmosphere, and nice variety on the menu. Nothing that stood out untill I tried the fried plantains. Great side that isnt common, and they nailed it. Will definitely be returning and trying some pours from their vast selection of beers.
This Tap It Local is located in the Dominion Commons Shopping Center. This place is fairly easy to get to and there is ample parking available as well. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. My visit here was in the afternoon on October 18, 2020.I dont normally come all the way out to Chesapeake that often. We came out to try the place during the Chesapeake Restaurant Week 2020. We came in around 4 pm. The bar area was pretty busy. It was clear that there were was little social distancing at that part of the restaurant. When we came in, we asked to be seated in the non-bar area, but they put us there anyways. At that time, we had to wait a moment for someone to come back and they moved us over to the main dining area, which was empty.After a few moments, our server Deo came to the table. We were given the regular menus, but asked for the restaurant week menu and ordered our drinks. When we got that menu, it was different than what was online. I ended up pulling up the menu on my phone from the restaurant week page to show him what is online. He did honor that menu online, but you could tell that he was surprised and didnt know that was out there. We were ready to order at that point and I went with the Bacon Cheeseburger and my mom went with the All American Burger (both on the Restaurant Week menu).After about 8 to 10 minutes, the burgers came to the table. The burgers looked really good and they were. The burger was hot and juicy and cooked the way as requested. All in all the food was great.Now, for the observations and experiences during the overall visit. As noted above the food was great and was never an issue. Service was lackluster at best and the primary reason for the two star rating. One thing off hand is that the server rarely wore his mask properly, or not at all. There were several instances where there was no coverage with the mask and other times just covering the mouth, but not the nose as well. Also, it was hard to get a hold of him when we needed to ask for a few things such as mustard, ketchup, and extra napkins. I did ask at one point when he did come over to ask to speak to a manager, but either the manager was busy and never came over, or was never notified we wanted to speak to them.In the end, the food was great and I hope this was just an off day. This place is about 30-40 minutes away from where I live, so I wont come this way very often. Although this experience will not have me rushing back, I would try them again in the future and hopefully things will be different then.
Food was deliciously drinks were good our waitress was amazing. Would give 5 stars if it had a jukebox. There wasnt a band playing the night we were there

The menu design is amazing for the thentype of location it is. The food was sub par at best. I had the special of the day burger and it came out wrong temp, tasting bad and the fries were cold. The bar was sticky and gross. Behind the bar was gross and the bartender was wearing a ratty oversized t- shirt as a dress. She spent more time chatting with friends in the corner than customers.... not just to be upset with her, I wanna be clear, the food is not even close to as described on the menu the the health and safety violations are alot.
I think its my new favorite bar! The atmosphere was lovely! Super chill, laid back but the staff were always there to help get us food or a drink refill! The Titos Black Raspberry Lemonade is so good! Hands down my favorite drink!
We had a good dine in experience. The prices were a little high for being a strip mall bar atmosphere but the food was great and beer was cold.Beer cheese anything here highly recommended. We got the beer cheese fries and they were great, definitely needed some scallions to top it off. I got the beer cheese steak Philly. So yummy. The snow crab mac n cheese, to die for. We got a burger called South of the Mason dixin, delicious! Jalapeño mac n cheese. Yummy with spice.
We went there today because of chesapeake restaurant week specials. We sat for at least 15 mins before we were acknowledged. She finally came to take our drink order and I said we were in a hurry, can we place our order, she said she could only do drink orders she had another food order to put in for another table. 15-20 mins later she came to take our food order....at the 45 minute mark from getting there we still had no food. 1 hour later we were walking out with our food in boxes and we were late getting back to work. The food was good, would have been better in the restaurant but the service was terrible. 1 waitress and 3 tables occupied. If you are going to do Restaurant Week specials make sure youre proper staffed
My family and I went here about a month ago and the AC was off. The outside had to be in the nineties and it was just as hot inside. We felt horrible for the workers working in that kind of condition. Not enough people working, we ended up leaving without our food. Server was super sweet and I adored her but the overall experience was not so great.
Not sure why I keep giving this place a chance. It’s always disappointing if you’re doing anything but grabbing a drink at the bar. There are never enough servers to keep up so expect your service to be slow — not that the servers are bad - they’re working hard! But they’ve always been very understaffed even pre pandemic. But don’t worry, they’ve posted a really rude sign on their TV telling customers not to complain because they can’t help it no one wants to work anymore. There was no air conditioning and the temperature inside the building was nearly as hot as outside… on a 90 degree day. I asked the poor, sweating, rushed-around server what the deal was and she profusely apologized and said it was always like that. We ordered our food to go since it was too uncomfortably hot to eat inside but we still waited an hour for our wings and sandwich because the “kitchen was training.” Came home to eat to find our wings smelled and tasted like fish so they were promptly thrown out. I wish I saw more effort to improve the issues that have continued with this place since they opened. But it’s always the same.
Good burgers and tasty fries. Service less than desirable as ours missed the golden rule of good service...check on the food quality after first few bites and ask if we need anything else. Had to go up to the bar for more water while server sat on phone at the bar. And server still never checked on us during entire meal until very end to bring check.

Environment was good, food was also. We had beer cheese fries and the blue cheese buffalo chicken nachos. 4 stars because the beer cheese was too beery for me and the nachos didnt have that much chicken but the blue cheese on the nachos added something and they were very good (there is no nacho cheese on the nachos just blue cheese)
Great food ! Great staff!! What you guys have to remember when you writing a review is that ppl don’t want to work . Unemployment has caused a shortage in staff for all restaurants. Be patient be kind ..these guys are doing the best they can . I would recommend this place to anyone!
Clearly the staff is having to work harder because of shortages but it didnt make our experience any less enjoyable. Full plate of thick cut twisted fries with beer cheese and bacon for appetizer was mind boggling good. Washed it down with the sweet tea and crushed ice that pregnant ladies crave like addicts. It was all so good that I forgot to order a beer. Main course was open face bbq pulled pork with coleslaw and onion rings, but mixing the bbq with slaw proved to be a nice move. This is our 4th time here and we still have yet to try something on the menu that isnt delicious.
This is a really awesome restaurant with an amazing staff. Theyve given us unique drinks and even walk us through how to make it at home. The food is really good too and they have carry out.
Dropped in for a business lunch yesterday... promptly seated and served with drinks. The waitress was conscientious, checked in on us regularly, and was very helpful in helping us decide what to get.I havent had a bad meal here yet and dont expect to. This place is my go-to for interviews and clients, and every now and again a quick hangout with my buddies. Quality food, great local beer selection, good atmosphere, good location.For all the ninnies out there whining about the virus, why would you attack the rating of a local business based on a survivable disease that is receding either by virtue of (a) mass vaccination or (b) herd immunity? Do you realize the lasting damage you actually do to other people with your meaningless virtue signaling? You want to wear a mask? Then mind your own business and wear one to make yourself feel better. Also get a life. Or better yet, dont, and just stay home, and keep your tattle-tales to yourself.For the rest of us normal people who dont act like middle school hall monitors, support your local businesses and really make a difference in someone elses life.Here endeth the rant.
I went there for lunch with my daughter at grandson. It was a late lunch and there were not many patrons The Establishment. It was very easy to maintain covid-19 protocols. The food was reasonably priced and portions were generous and the food was delicious

A very friendly restaurant/pub where you can come for surprisingly good food as well as tons of different types of local and imported beers. Come for a flight which consists of 4 small glasses with the beer of your choice to try. Stay for the food that seems more like it should be in a high-end bistro and seems to satisfy all the patrons that taste it. The fries are very original in form and stand above most in taste. The burgers (which also come in turkey form) will delight even the most eclectic tastebuds. Staff is friendly and willing to let you try the beer before you commit to a full round. Anne, in particular, is one of the coolest bartenders ive ever had the pleasure of doing business with. The live music was not overwhelming as i could still have a conversation while they were playing, which was very nice. I would definitely recommend Tap it to anyone looking for good food and an adventurous night of beer drinking.

Food was delicious!! Service was excellent. Came in for a few drinks and ended up in a trivia competition (which we won). That was a nice treat. Attorney they have trivia night every Saturday, so dont miss out!! Wasnt my first time here and definitely wont be my last.

I really, really wanted to like this place because my wife has been asking me to take her and was excited about the drink selections. We walked in Sunday at noon, the place was clean, live musician, and our server Abby was very pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately from there it went down hill. The place wasn’t busy but we waited 40 minutes for our food. When it finally came out, my daughter’s tenders and fries were ice cold, my steak was way over cooked (well done vs med-rare) and cold, toast (not toasted) was cold and dried out, hash browns cold etc. They remade my 5 year olds tenders but it just added to the frustration of waiting, at this point it was 1pm. Abby asked if I wanted my steak and eggs to be remade but everyone else was nearly done eating and there’s nothing worse then eating while people are done. My steak and eggs were comped but we didn’t come here on Valentine’s Day to be comped, we came to enjoy a breakfast/lunch and I fortunately left disappointed, hungry and the morning ruined paying $71 plus tip for a frustrating experience. Again, our server was wonderful and we tipped her regardless, it wasn’t her fault. I’m never coming back, hope you all have better luck here

Seat your shelf after waiting at door ... drinks came room temp. More then 40 mins waite on food that was not anything special and only five tables of guest. Not to mention what seem to be the owner meeting people at the door with no mask?!
Disapointed with the service and food. We have had food and drinks here for a few years now and tonight was the worst. The visit started off well enough, the waitress was attentive when we were first seated and even brought a sample of the beer we weere thinking of trying. Once our beers and food were delivered we didnt see our server again- Would have ordered more beer and wings but she didnt come back. We sat there for almost 20 mins w/o service, food or drinks. We flagged another employee for more wing sauce and napkins. The wing and sauce quality has become very inconsistant over the last several months we have eaten here. We ordered 20 wings, 19 were delivered, they were bare of sauce, the celery was limp, translucent amd inedible. We made it quite obvious we were done by putting the discards from the wings, plate, used napkins and empty pint glasses at the end of our table, even then no server appeared. My husband had to go find the server to ask for our bill. She did come and drop off the bill and gave us some story about getting there at 2pm (?) and explaining her absence in service because she was busy changing Kegs that keep running out and said they were very busy- it was 5:35 pm on a friday afternoon when we arrived and there were open tables and plenty of staff visible standing around talking to each other. Unfortunately for the server we left her a $5 tip on $41 tab that would have been much more (I was a waitress/ bartender for 20+ years)if we could have ordered more and the service been better. We dont expect to be entertained by the servers but definitly dont expect ot be ignored either.With a new wing competitior coming to the same area Tap It needs to retrain their kitchen and waitstaff for consistentcy and service.

It took 45 minutes to get our lunch. The food was good. Waitress was great. She hustled. She was the only waitstaff on duty. The other two employees (management maybe, definitely not leaders) were useless. Did not help deliver plates when they were ready and the waitress was busy. Did not greet, speak to, or make eye contact with customers. Didn’t move out of the walkway when customers were moving around the restaurant. Utterly out of place in the hospitality business. Failure is certain with clowns like that in charge.
Very cool local spot! Tons of draft beers that rotate frequently and the food menu is excellent. Ive eaten every burger on the menu and the best is the Lethal Burger if you can handle the heat. Bar staff is very friendly and attentive, they have live music as well which can sometimes be hit-or-miss but the atmosphere is great either way. There are also plenty of tables off to the side if youd just like a more quiet environment to eat. Pool table and some other fun games are towards the back. Definitely give it a try!

This place is all around just ok. Starting, for a place called tap it, they do not have a wide selection of beers on tap. And the ones they did have were between $7-8, which is a little pricy. For food, I got the chicken sandwich. The meat was cooked nicely, but it was not flavorful at all. Very bland. Prices for food were reasonable. Would much rather preferred Popeyes of Chick-fil-A sandwiches. The service was ok nothing special. Just a very average place.

We love the food.My daughter and I split a white pizza with broccoli and it was one of the best pizzas weve had.My husband had a lethal burger 🍔 and he devoured it.I do not like coming here in the evening, however, because it is way too loud.

Ashley & Chris are some of the best people I’ve ever worked for. They really know what they’re doing when it comes to running restaurants. The food and the drinks are delish and it’s an amazing atmosphere for customers and employees. I honestly wouldn’t have left if I didn’t move. Dean kills it in the kitchen with his specials so I definitely recommend trying whatever is on special that day. If you’re sticking to the menu, you can’t go wrong with anything! The Buffalo chicken nachos, tuna appetizer, and cheese curds are all great appetizers. The tuna tacos, pastas, and steak entrees are all so delicious. Best ranch in Hampton roads, hands down btw. For dessert, make sure you try the skillet cookie! I seriously miss this food so much and the awesome people who work here. Don’t forget to try their sister restaurant McGrath’s Burger Shack too!

So I just want to say this: I hate reviewing places after 1 visit in. You know, someone could be having a great day, and then the next time not so much, or vice versa. I want to give a huge shoutout to Nick, who have taken care of us consistently FOUR TIMES IN A ROW, and I’m sure there’s more to come! That never happens to me, guys. This guy is consistent with his service, and the kitchen folks too- I just want to say GREAT JOB! I’m hard to impress.

Love the seafood macaroni and cheese! The fettuccine alfredo with chicken is also excellent. But-the best part is their selection of craft beer. Growlers to go are also available.
Food was excellent. Atmosphere was a lot of fun too. The large games were exciting for the kids. This is a really neat place & I would highly recommend. Staff was really friendly too & were very friendly. My only complaint, too many delicious options ;-)

Normally the food is excellent reason for the 4 stars. Crab mac and cheese is great. But I came in the other day and got a BLT that was thick and burnt. My mothers BLT the exact same. It was terrible. Normally the food is good to great. Highly recommend this place, shame on the person who went Kings Landing on my bacon.Still great food. Just very very crispy bacon.
Food is great, the service is very mediocre. I ordered a pork bbq sandwich with fries. The waitress said it came with two sides so I picked a salad too. When the food came out, it was just the sandwich and salad. I asked the waitress “doesn’t it also come with fries?” and she replied saying “it actually comes with one side and this is what you asked for.” Then, I reminded her that she said it came with two sides and she replies, “oh yeah, I messed ya up there” in a sullen tone. She offered to get me fries but I would’ve been charged extra. Later on, she brought a mixed drink to my friend and said “you can tell I wasn’t the one who made it this time, right?” Is talking badly about another co-worker her idea connecting with the customer? At this point, she seemed irritable and clearly unprofessional. She doesn’t represent the entire staff. I’ve had some awesome servers/bar tenders in the past. At times, they are friendly & professional. However, I’ve either had nasty encounters like this one at Tap It or very delayed service several times over the last few years.
Went 2/15/2021 with family ordered tenders for my 3 yr old grandson he was brought 2 whole chicken breast there is a difference between the 2 ordered hamburgers medium done came to the table bloody was sick 3 hours later after the worst stomach cramps ever!! The food was good. Generous portions. I think it was open Mic night. Several guys got up to play and sing. Friendly staff. The games were neat. Love the KISS pinball machine. Blast from the past.
Group of us went for dinner and drinks on a weekday evening. Very few tables occupied. Took around 30 minutes to get drinks to the table. Asked for a second round, it never came. Food was on the table at about 75 minute mark. Second set of drinks never came. Had to ask for water 4 times before it was brought. Bill SHOWED drinks that were requested but never delivered. This was corrected without a problem. The food was very good. Time management and customer attention appears to be a huge issue. Wont return. 2 stars is for the kitchen staff. Burger and fries were on point.
The beer cheese fries are amazing. Having said that, we just left tonight because the waitress wouldnt even acknowledge us as we sat in an almost completely empty dining area after 15 minutes of sitting there with no menus and apparently no hope of being waited on. I did however get the side eye look that pretty much tells you they arent interested in my buisness. The service has always been an issue and tonight may have been the breaking point. Before the shutdown we had an incident that I will not get into because I trust it was taken care of over the time they were closed. I hope the next time we visit (it will be a long while) things will be on the up and up. Again, we love the food. The service is the issue, which is a managerial issue, it all starts and stops there guys.
This place is a favorite of mine right now. Ive found the staff to be very helpful & nice to talk to, and their food is great too. I especially love their salads and the beer cheese cheesesteak! Its nice to have a local joint like this close by to grab a drink and/or tasty bite after work. Im hoping I continue to find more to like as I continue visiting.

Good beer selection, good cocktails and an great place to meet up to drinks after work or to watch sports. Food is pretty good, typical bar food menu. Does get pretty packed in the evening, especially when they have live music.
Excellent food but dont think they were quite ready for the number of patrons last night. The live music brought in a club affiliation which made for quite a few more than they were used to on a Sunday night. Food is always prepared as it is ordered so the wait times are usually a bit longer than some restaurants and with a short staff it was somewhat longer than usual but as always the quality was first rate.

Came in waited a good 10 minutes which isnt unusual but the problem is that the hostess had to go clean off the 3 tables that were available because no one was cleaning them. Server was good but she kept telling me she had a big table and I felt like she was rushing me along. Good thing the crab pizza was amazing. Deducted a star for the wait and then the rushing

I write this review with a heavy heart cause their food is actually really good. However, on 2/26/2020 we order take out as usual but we found a bug in our food:( I called the restaurant to let the manger know cause I’d hate for anyone else to find the same thing and to handle their pest problem. They told me the owner would give me a call back within the day or so. I called again that following Sunday cause I didn’t hear anything and was told the same thing.still haven’t heard anything. Check your food prior to taking a bite.
Wings here were fantastic. Bar staff friendly. Needs someone to clean up the place. I realize it is a bar. Theres a couple spots around the bar that smelled on more than one occasion. 5 stars if that gets fixed.
Only 1 pool table. Need more pool tables then I MIGHT come back.

Not a great experience went in to get a to go order. Spoke to the hostess/barmaid she looked at me like why are you speaking to me..customer service score : 0. Being in the military I travel a lot so I know a good establishment when I enter it. First impression goes along way. Each customer is just as important as the next. Most businesses are successful by word of mouth.

Drinks were the best part! Then the service. Then the food. Got the Sampler, the chicken wings & onion rings were good, the chicken tenders were over cooked and the cheese curds were under cooked.
Great place to just relax. Staff is polite, beer is cold, food is good. What else could you ask for? Even have games for the kids to play.
The Cheese curds were amazing! The beer, however, wasnt cold enough for me and I thought it was a little flat. I did switch to a different beer which was much better but still not as cold as I prefer. I didnt care so much about the beer selection being on a TV screen on the other side of the room. I had the Jumbo Sea Scallops which were $24. Yikes! It was a good portion of Scallops and they were delicious but the Jambalaya Rice, and Asparagus.... Not so much. Well be back just for the cheese curds and want to try the fried green tomatoes.We came to see an old friend that was in the live entertainment. We arrived around 8:00pm to get a table and a bite to eat before the band started. Not very busy for a Friday night, there were plenty of open tables.We had to wait for what seemed like a long time before we were even asked if we wanted something to drink. But after that, Lareina took great care of us and was very pleasant. We sat in the dining area away from the bar so even when the band was playing it wasnt too loud and we were able to carry on conversation. It was a fun night out with friends!
Ive noticed either the food is fantastic or the service is incredible. Never both at the same time. Its a shame too. This place has the potential to be really awesome. I CAN say the liveusic/performers have been awesome every time weve ever been. Maybe thats how they stay open???
Birthday dinner with 40+ guests. Servers Crystal & Tyler were terrific - very knowledgeable re beer choices. A couple minor glitches with the kitchen but overall things went great, especially with all those orders hitting at once. Way better than usual bar food and I dont know of another local restaurant that would have done better or even as well. Check Tap-It out!

Totally dissapointed. We have gone here before and everything had been fine. Food, service, atmosphere all good. I took my parents who are visiting for lunch and drinks today. Sign said please wait to be seated. We stood at the door for two minutes until I said lets just sit at the bar. No bartender. Saw one waitress who never came over to us. Only people i saw were two customers at the bar and several in the dining area and I could see the cooks working in the kitchen. I nearly asked if I had to make my own drinks and order my own food but we decided just to leave instead. Not what I expected from them at all. Very dissapointing since this is the only place like it in our area. I will not be returning. Would rather drive to Norfolk.

Oh my goodness, most delicious crabcakes!! No filler, all crab!! Great selection of local beer, and very clean. The wait staff is very nice and helpful when you just want to eat one of everything on the menu!! Family friendly very nice restaurant. Going to come back!!!!
Bartender had an attitude and didnt look like she wanted to work. Tuna bites were great as always. Nachos were overcooked but still good.
Ive been on several occasions and always find something on tap that hits the spot for me. The bartenders are friendly and good at making a recommendation if youre lost at sea as to what might suit your particular taste. Prices are in line with any other craft beer bar.As far as atmosphere goes, the place is clean and well appointed. However, two things you might want to take note of:1) if there is live music, sitting at the bar can be deafening as the band will be playing directly at your head; and2) there is an outside patio, and though you might be tempted to enjoy your cold beer outside, its probably best to keep your seat inside as a significant number of regulars are also smokers who get their fix on the patio.
Great Beers! Delicious food! Our favorite appetizers are the Crab and Shrimp Dip, Cheese Curds, the Nachos and the Egg Rolls!
