The Church of St. Barbara - the church of the Berdichev parish of the Kiev-Zhitomir Catholic diocese - a national monument of architecture and history. The baroque church was erected in 1826 on the site of the early wooden chapel of the Berdichev Mother of God, built by Varvara Radziwil, who owned Berdichev. In 1850, the writer Honore de Balzac and Countess Evelina Hanska were married in the church, and in 1857 the famous English writer Joseph Conrad was baptized here.Distance to Kiev 184 km, travel time 2-3 hours.

The unobtrusive building was curious to discover along the way. Lucky it was open. Inside, the most interesting were the stained glass windows. All with different images. The territory is well-groomed.

I love the church. The Xenza are very interesting in their services. A place where you forget all your problems.

It is good that the Bolsheviks did not destroy this Temple of God.Unfortunately, the day seemed cloudy and it was dark inside. On occasion, once again we must come and pray.

Outside is a particularly unremarkable building. I was interested in the place where Balzac himself got married. It was not possible to get inside. Through the glass you can see that the inside is modest. It is good that the building is maintained and the memory of its history is kept.

Beautiful baroque church. In 1759-1782 there was a wooden church nearby. In 1828 it was dismantled, and next to it, in 1826, a new brick church was built. In 1878 a new bell tower was built. The year 1909 became significant for the church, as the facade was decorated with sculptures and a new organ of the Lviv firm was installed. Notable in it married the famous French writer Honore de Balzac. The architecture is typical of churches.

This is a holy place, not a hotel to put stars! Come and listen to the word of God.
