Cute little coffee shop. There was a long line on a Saturday so be prepared to wait. The avocado wrap was kinda flavorless but the croissant sandwich was great. There is seating that they assign out upon ordering. Looked like there was a small outdoor seating setup as well. I would go again for the mimosas next time!
Cupitol coffee and eatery has a great ambience of a perfect coffee shop with a quiet atmosphere and huge glass windows. The food is spectacular and there is a wide range of flavors available in desserts/pastries. Great and quick customer service while maintaining the cleanliness is a great combination to have for a place that gets busy. Do visit Cupitol!
We just moved into the neighborhood and decided to try Capital when we walked past. I really love the place! The food we tried was fantastic: the “number 5” sandwich, a croissant with ham, cheese and egg was spectacular, as was the grilled ham & cheese. The pastries were something else, too. We tried a couple of the scones and a superior chocolate croissant. We’ll be coming back here for sure, and will try their order-ahead app too, as there’s a bit of a wait for the food to come out, and quite a few people dining in even at off-peak hours.Really great experience and super happy to have found such a great place mere steps from home!Edited to add: since trying Cupitol for the first time, we’ve gone back several times over the last few weeks, both for breakfast and lunch. Everything we’ve tried has been great, and Cupitol has quickly become our neighborhood go-to.
Cupitol is generally good! I wouldn’t call it amazing but the baristas take care to make your coffee. The interior is also very cute and the service is great as well.
Arguably one of the best cafes to study/work in Downtown Chicago. This means 1) good coffee (my favorite is their flat white), 2) stable wifi, 3) warm ambience, 4) good amount of distraction, and 5) clean restrooms. Very welcoming staff and fast service, too. Some outlets here and there if you need to charge your laptop. You can also go there just for a meal or to chat with your friends. Its difficult to find a parking spot near the cafe. It now closes earlier than it used to due to covid, but hopefully they go back to their normal operating hours soon.
The place has a real nice vibe, I wish I spent more time there, but I was hungover and just wanted some coffee. They were out of almost all pastries, too, at around 11am. The wait wasn’t too long at all, thankfully, but the iced mocha my friend ordered was legitimately half foam, which is a bummer considering how expensive the place it. So I’d recommend this place and would go again, but I can’t see it ever becoming a favorite nor do I have high expectations of the food and drink quality. Worth checking out for sure.
Overall, very nice café. Go if you’re interested in something different than Starbucks. However, Im not a fan of the new hours at all. There have been a lot of times when I wanted to go to Cupitol in the evening.
Decent but overpriced and food didn’t match menu description. I ordered the lox sandwich to go. Their salmon is cured in house so I was pretty excited. The smoked salmon itself was really good but the portion was so small it was hard to taste it in between the thick (somewhat stale) baguette. The description said capers but there were none on my sandwich. It also said herb cream cheese but I’m pretty sure it was just regular cream cheese. The cafe itself was cute, spacious and clean.
We had to wait about 10-15 minutes to place our order but it was well worth it. As we approach the front of the line, one in our party sat down at the table while the other placed our order. The Nutella Belgian waffle, and Mushroom omelette were absolutely delicious. The on-tap sparkling water was also a great plus.
Amazing food, quick service, friendly workers! This place is very sweet and cozy.🙂
Wife and I were visiting Chicago and this, along with Beatrix, became our go-to coffee place. (Beatrix in the morning because it was by the hotel, but Cupitol for our afternoon pick-me-up). Talented baristas, nice ambience, friendly staff (the cashier remembered our order from Saturday when we went on Sunday). Great cappuccino and latte, in both taste and appearance. Well be back I hope!
I had Christmas morning breakfast here And was totally worth it.The place had good energy and vibe. Nice lounge space. Order at the counter and they bring your food to you.The breakfast was amazing and the price was reasonable. The beef hash was one of the best I’ve had in long long time. My friend had an omelette that wasn’t bad either.
Delicious food, great service. The line moves fast so don’t be discouraged! Worth the wait.
Great seating system, if a bit slow moving in line (on a Sunday morning) but moves quickly once you order. Fantastic selection of pastries, drinks, and full breakfast and lunch items. Tasty food and clean and pleasant ambiance.
Busy breakfast venue. Delicious breakfast sandwich. Nice Classic Breakfast. Reasonable prices. Enter. Go to counter to order. Sit at table with number given to you at counter. Food brought out to your table. Bill for two came to $27 before tip.
Looks nice but no decent menu no listing at the counter of what they have. so you can’t just go up and order unless you want a long conversation or know exactly what on their menu you already want
Cute little coffee shop with pastries and breakfast. It is busy and the food was not great, just average, but it is close to Navy Pier and the coffee was good. I love that they are pet friendly so they have leash hooks at the front for you to park your pet while you order, so they cant dine in with you but they have outdoor seating and an entryway that you can bring them in to order.
The werent nailing the customer flow the day I visited. Long line but open tables, then the opposite. Like the kitchen couldnt keep up with the orders or the register couldnt get them in fast enough. Despite this the food and drinks are amazing. Warm and inviting interior that is open, airy, and bright.
Food is consistently good. Coffee is good too, not AMAZING but above average for sure. Staff is also very friendly. Love the ambience of the place, its a very chill place to relax or study. My only complaint and the reason I did not give it a full 5 stars is that there are not enough electrical outlets! It might seem like a nitpick but as someone who constantly uses his laptop its pretty annoying to have to find a new place to sit when my charge is low (which is often not possible sometimes because this place can get a bit crowded). All in all though, I would recommend this place.
Good food and chill environment. Convenient to errands I needed run after meeting up with a friend.
Cozy place and amazing staff. They are so friendly and professional. Best place for a coffee date with a friend or just for work in a nice atmosphere. 🥰
That is what you call a brunch spot with class - great quality food, well presented. Tried quite a few other places around it and they are no match. Highly recommended!
We were visiting Chicago for the first time and this was on our list to visit. Our food was great and coffee was solid. However, the person taking our order was so rude and impatient. All I asked was for some utensils and this lady was like you can wait until your food comes. She was rushing our order and it just threw everything off. Every breakfast place I’ve visited in Chicago, this has to be the worst service I’ve ever received. Truly disappointing when the food and the coffee were so great. The food and the cold brew is the reason why I am giving this place a 3 star. If the food wasn’t good, then I would’ve left a 1 star rating.
Very cozy cafe to get a bite or just coffee. The food was tasty and the ambiance was very comfortable. The latte and cappuccino drinks we ordered were delicious. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich and an order of French toast. Both meals were satisfying. It seems many locals come to just hang out and read or meet with friends and enjoy a nice meal or beverage.
Just got a latte to go, but it was very good. And the space was clean and vibrant.
Excellent coffee, we had excellent almond milk lattes. Had breakfast here 3 days in a row, great omelets and fresh orange juice. Indoor and outdoor seating and an excellent seating system when they are busy! Great experience all three days!
Breakfast sandwich was great, but bagel and lox sandwich was unfortunately not good. Salmon did not taste fresh and bagel was stale. Smoothies were great. Service was slow. Would try again but only for certain items and if not in a rush.
Nice and clean coffee shop in the riverwalk area. They make an excellent espresso. Reasonably priced especially for Chicago downtown area.
My fiancé and I love coming to Cupitol for brunch. Love the ambience, the food and drinks are really good too. Would highly recommend.
Casual cafe in Streeterville with a warm setting. Theyve got snacks, spirits, shakes, smoothies and of course coffee. Lots of seating space so you almost never have to wait to find your little corner to work. It usually quiet so would definitely recommend for a casual hang out or work/study sessions.
Recently opened ( around Jan-Feb 2017).. Get the avocado wrap!! this place is the whole package.. breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, studying, meeting friends.... My kinda place.. Spacious interior, modern decor, music is a touch loud and coffee is wonderful.Staff were so friendly but gradually the smile went away.I really hope they dont change.. They stay as amazing as they are right now..update: sadly the staff are becoming less friendly here.
This was my first coffee shop of 2021 and I must say I was not disappointed! The barista Paola, made this experience great. I would come here just to chat with her! Not only the service but the sweet potato bowl was off the charts! The drinks were fab and also the vibe was just right between the decor and music! 6 stars if I could!
This was an easy walk from our hotel. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.
Would give 10 stars if I could! Friendly staff, good food, and fast. Felt like I got better than what I paid for!
Love, love, love their croissants are great. I love their breakfast sandwiches, the #5 is my favorite. Coffee is great. The staff is pleasant and helpful. They were so nice
This place is amazing! We came for breakfast and enjoyed the overall experience: The brand, decor, the smell of coffee and freshly baked pastries, the simple ordering and the team. The food and coffee are delicious 🤍
10/10 would recommend. The service was polite and super fast, the avocado wrap was delicious and the barista said she made her first heart on my latte!
Classic breakfast was great with ham, European was delish too. Good coffee
Very cool vibe. Its open, clean, colorful and has a very nice, light vibe. The staff was very nice and read to us about it trip to Chicago and what we next time we come around. The coffee was delicious, surprisingly good for a house blend. The latte I got really brought out the espresso flavors and had really textures. Very, very good.
Food was excellent, coffee was pretty standard but good. Also service was very fast. Would go again 10/10
Stopped here on our last day in the city. We got lattes, smoothies, and breakfast sandwiches. The lattes were great, smoothies were very good, but the breakfast sandwich.... omg. Best Ive ever had. Not sure Ive ever had a legit fresh croissant but it was spectacular.
I ordered an iced coffee, I got hot. I told the woman at the register and she told me I didn’t order iced. It’s fine if I made that mistake, what was annoying was how rude she was in telling me. Wrong coffee and rude worker.
Good ppl and delicious breakfast
Wonderful experience! Great food and quick service:)
The most amazing breakfast I have ever had. The restaurant kind of sucked bc it was an order and sit. So we didnt have a waitress just someone who brought us the food. Once we recieved the food we didnt care it wasnt a full service place. The croissants were buttery, fluffy and soft for the breakfast sandwiches. I had the hash and it was crispy, tasty and the corned beef was cooked to perfection. The avocado breakfast wrap was filled with explosive flavors. I enjoyed this place very much.
Cute simple cafe in streeterville - this area is really developing more F&B options! Very simple design with lots of seating including mix between lounge areas with cozy chairs and couches as well as normal tables. Full menu prepared in the kitchen plus loads of pastry and treat options. Only downside for me is that the matcha was not very flavorful, it looked beautiful but tasted like plain milk with a hint of matcha. Would definitely go back for coffee, breakfast or lunch. Bonus they have sparkling and regular water on tap.
Great food, great value, great staff. Amazeballs ambiance
Best place in town!! The combination of perfect atmosphere, delicious food, drinks and coffee, supernice people!! Perfect to relax, study, work or eat. Im definitely coming back!!
Excellent little spot to stop for food or drinks and they had a great environment with a wide variety of foods!
We ordered chai tea latte and scone. Scone was too sweet for me.and chai latte tasted like hot water with hint of tea.but this cafe has cozy ambiance and good location.
Stopped in while on our cold and windy walk from the Field Museum to the Navy Pier and how awesome! I got the Nutella latte and chocolate croissant (pictured here). Great vibe, awesome coffee, super friendly staff, and cozy. Very popular place, it seemed, because almost all the seating was occupied. Enjoy!
Awesome place for light breakfast and coffee!
The food is good enough but the whole system of ordering the food and taking to a table is unclear and a complete shitshow on weekends.
While visiting Chicago we were looking for a breakfast spot and came across Cupitol it was so good we came back the next day and tried different options. This is now on our must visit list next time we are back.
The food was amazing and very nice staff and the milkshakes was the best one I have ever had!!!!
We have a lovely brunch here, the Greek yogurt was amazingly fresh and creamy. Service was excellent and ambiance too
I really enjoyed this cafe, the coffee was really tasty, and the food was fairly standard. I liked the ambiance a lot here. Overall i think i would go back.
I have been to cupitol about 10 times over the last few years and never once has disappointed. The menu is broad which is great it suits very well for breakfast or lunch in my opinion. The quality is fantastic and presentation is always on point. Most of my visits have been for breakfast food, but today I tried a lunch patty melt with fries and had to write the review after it left me just as happy as my breakfast experiences. Keep up the awesome job!
The best coffee house/cafe in the area! Super-nice people and awesome food.
