I feel like the 5 star rating is heavily overused. This is one of the few places I feel truly deserves five stars. All of the entrees we tried were incredible. I had the fried chicken Sammie and the sauce combination they go with is perfect. Their hot sauce compliments the chicken very well and the ingredients used felt very high quality. The French toast was also phenomenal. I’m not sure how they do it but they managed to put an egg in there ?! Plus topping it with chicken was a smart idea.I also got the sleepy hollow cocktail which was stronger than I anticipated, but still decent. The French fries were okay - wouldn’t get again. Feel like they could have been much better if they were fresher but they came out a little soggy and luke warm.
We ordered the French toast and the little pig went to China.I think ‘too much going on’ is a good description for the food.French toast it self is a 8/10, the BBQ maple syrup is 9/10, Chicken 7/10, the over easy egg in it is 6/10. I would leave an 8/10 review if it’s only two of them together, but all of them together, which way should I feel? My taste bud got confused. My husband’s biscuit is the same, biscuit itself 9/10, sausage 8/10, egg 8/10, two sauces 6/10. I get the Asian flavor in this dish, it’s creative and it tastes good, but both American flavor and Chinese flavor in a biscuit? Biscuit even didn’t sign up for these much lol. It’s good to see they are working hard on the food, but being simple doesn’t necessarily mean bad, it will show all the ingredients themselves.
Great experience here! Cute retro modernized diner atmosphere and decor, excellent super friendly service, delicious food with creative twists done well. Came here with my mom and aunt and we really enjoyed it - everything was excellent! Portions were very generous and good to share. Will be back in the future!
This place blew my mind. Cute name. Fun design. Great service. Awesome music. Fantastic food. I had the Bullseye French Toast (two people could easily split this), my partner had This Little Piggy Went To China and we split a side of hash browns and bacon. The hash browns were on another level - shoe string style with a layer of melted cheese on the bottom. The bacon was prepared to extra crispy perfection, as requested. The cherries on top were the delicious mimosas. We loved it so much, we went back a couple days later. Also, if youre a dog person, the patio is a fantastic spot for dog watching!
We were in town and stumbled across Little Goat. We had to wait about and hour to get a table but it was well worth the wait. I had the chickpea salad and my daughter had the paratha burrito. Both were excellent. The salad was fresh and crisp and the dressing was fabulous. Our fantastic and funny server Carl(with a C not a K) recommended a Bee’s Knees and it was a perfect compliment to my salad
Even with a reservation, we still had to wait for our table. Which would have been understandable...had the restaurant not been next to empty! Service was slow to start, very slow. The gal who finally brought water was not the friendliest, so I was pleased to learn she wasnt our server. Everything is a la carte. We started with the Crab Dip, which was okay, but nothing special. The Patty Melt, at $16, was completely underwhelming & greasy. And that was it, nothing else served with it, not even a garnish. Dessert was probably the saving grace; the ice cream cake with Strawberry Quick & Goat Tracks (which our server kept referring to as Moose Tracks ) flavors. Glad to have tried this, I really admire Stephanie Izard, but no need to rush back.
The food never disappoints here, from a full brunch to a quick lunch date Ive enjoyed every meal here. My favorites is definitely the fried chicken sandwich and the mac and cheese is always great. Service can be a bit hit or miss but never in a bad way if that makes sense. Usually they are just so busy that a server might take a little longer than usual to come check up on you or bring your drinks a bit late. Theyre still great and I cant fault them too badly.
Dontcha know its Good Karma to leave a 5 🌟 review for excellent service, delicious food, huge portions and a beautiful atmosphere?I received all of the above and I havent been here in ages and so happy I chose to enjoy a decadent lunch this afternoon during an unusually warm September Chicago day. They have a beautiful outside porch with elegant tables and settings. The servers here were extremely attentive and there were many interesting options on the menu to choose from.I chose a super delicious and healthy kale chickpea salad 🥗 with fried falafel balls, deep fried onions, and Greek tzatziki 🥒 sauce. The salad was creative, colorful and served in a gigantic bowl. This was by far the tastiest kale salad Ive ever eaten! All the menu items range from breakfast to lunch options like hamburgers 🍔 rueben sandwiches, crispy chocolate chip 🥞pancakes 🥞 bulls eye French toast, fries, eggs, iced chai, tempting desserts and decadent milkshakes. My server Ray knew all the items on the menu and was extremely helpful so I received quick service and was allowed to take my sweet time with my meal. This is the perfect spot for a laid back breakfast or lunch in the heart ♥️ of the west loop ♥
The dinner version of The Girl and the Goat. The food is good but so are most of the other places in west loop. We always look for the uniqueness of a joint, atmosphere and menu offerings. To try this out, we ordered some of the standard and some unique items. The French toast with fried chicken strips, it is ok, nothing special taste wise, nothing compared to some old school chicken and waffles. However the egg in the middle was a little surprising. Then there is the Okonomiyaki, which is a pretty famous Japanese dish, basically like a large thick pancake mixed in with cabbage, egg, and whatever other ingredients you desire, meat, seafood, and topped with some bonito flakes if needed, a savory sauce and Mayo drizzled over it to serve. I have had the originals in Japan and some authentic ones here. The version that I have had here was very disappointing, the batter had nothing mixed in it, so literally a pan cake. Everything else’s was just dumped on top like a pizza, a little tempura flakes. I would strongly suggest the restaurant to remove it from the menu or call it something else. This is the same feeling when I first saw McDonald’s in China serving burgers with rice patties as buns. It is just not right!I forgot about the appetizer, crab dip, the taste is good, but I didn’t see any crab (like you would in a crab cake). So if it was all crab, it was a purée, but why puréed it? This is not French, it is a diner! I want to feel the texture when I dip in it with those ritz crackers!
I’ve ordered both lunch and breakfast items here, every item has been fantastic. The los drowned sandwich was fantastic use of flavors. The french toast with the chicken, eggs and strawberries was the best french toast I’ve ever had. Love the creativity with dishes and incorporating so many unique flavors. The prices are fantastic for the quality and amount of food you get too.
The food was so good we went back two days later. We went twice on a four-day trip for the Chicago Marathon. Get the Club for lunch and the Choc. Chip Pancakes or This Little Piggy Went To China for brunch. And save room for a cinnamon roll, please. Also: No wait, both times. And the second time we went was pretty close to peak brunch time on a Saturday. Absurdly good service!
Of course you have to eat here. Simple food mad in an exquisite way. My only complaint is that they run out of the ooey gooey fresh cinnamon rolls, they are so good. But the biscuits are really good, too. Great staff very helpful and friendly. Dark matter coffee. Just go already!
I love this diner! The food was so tasty, the atmosphere was hip and chic, and if you want to skip the wait, you can choose bar seating. It was quite crowded the weekend I decided to go, and even though I made a reservation, I was still given bar seating. I ordered the chicken and waffles dish and it is easily one of the best restaurants to serve the pairing. You wont regret it! Ive also ordered Little Goat on Doordash a couple times. The food always survives the delivery which is great. For a special treat, be sure to order a Sugar Goat cupcake or ice cream! Delish!
The food was absolutely delicious but the service was surprisingly sub-par. Staff was very friendly but the coffee didnt come until halfway through our food, we ordered eggs over medium and they can super runny, and we had to ask for ketchup multiple times. Not impressed.
If rating the food like Roger Ebert rates films - this might be a 4 or 5 star place. I think they execute really well on what they intend to do.But its kind of like a gourmet diner. All the dishes are a little over the top. And I usually appreciate something different...The only things that didnt have a twist were the toast and coffee - both of which were quite good. But everything else just seemed like it was different for the sake of it - not that it was actually a twist that paired well or made sense - or at least thats how it tasted to me.The French Toast - for example - with BBQ sauce was possibly the worst french toast Ive ever had.
One of Chicagos best kept secret is The Little Goat Diner. Exceptionally great food with a menu thatll please anyone in your party. Typical dishes arent typical here. The service was incredible and the manager makes the rounds to ensure everything is satisfactory. Prices are good and count on valet parking.
Great food but somewhat limited for the vegetarian crowd. Got rid of the open face tuna sandwich they had which was my favorite. Seems like only options for pescetarian & veggie now are sweet not savory. Service is wonderful. Preston is the BOMB!!
Wouldn’t say it’s perfect, but definitely one of the top notch restaurants in west loop.Didn’t order a lot. Tried little goat went to China and Okonomiyaki, both were good. Except for the former was a little too sweat and the letter is a little bit dry and plain. Will come back more to try out other dishes.
Such unique flavors and dishes! Each classic breakfast dish had a twist which makes it fun to order.Little Piggy: very scallion-forward. Wish there were a few more blueberries to balance the salty/savory/spicy flavors. Schezuan sausage patty was a firecracker of flavor and that biscuit was delicious! Probably would not get it again though, too much scallion and almost too much flavor (cannot focus on what you’re tasting)French toast: mmmm, delicious! Had an egg *inside* the brioche bread! And the chicken was great. This was a good twist on classic chicken and waffles style brunch.Hash browns: yummmmm. Nothing more to say there except I don’t regret anything. For hash brown connoisseurs, this one was shredded, crispy on the outside, but softer/potatoey on the inside, kind of omelette/heap shaped and mixed with some random bits of cheese per the menu (didn’t really taste the cheese).Need to come back and try more dishes! Also, really attentive servers. I inquired about ordering from Sugargoat and she popped over and got me a French Fry Pie and held it in the back till we finished!
It was a wedding rehearsal dinner with hors doeuvres passed around that I did not care for any of them. I had to go home and make myself a sandwich after this function. The carrot cake was the only thing I liked.
Little Goat remains one of my favorite places to visit on the Randolph strip. Creative and jazzed up, simple entrees become a little special here. The only disappointment was finding out that they recently removed their chili from the menu. Heres to hoping that they bring it back!
Beautiful, beautiful space. Super comfy booths and bright natural light. As far as food goes, keep it simple. Some of the craziest dishes on the menu surprisingly fall flat compared to the more simple dishes (patty melt is like.... stupid good). But super friendly staff and a fun place to bring groups / visitors!
I decided to try Little Goat again after several years. Its still a 4 star experience. Solid menu items, but not spectacular. The sandwiches are usually 5 stars, and the rest are 4. I had the okonomiyaki which was tasty but not quite a 5 star. They have ample outdoor distanced seating in a vented tent with space heaters, which is definitely a plus.
Very good food. Fries were the best. Both of our entrees tasted like they had the same seasoning on them. Maybe its there signature seasoning? Our server was very energetic. Employees really get along with one another and thats great but because of that the service does suffer a little. Fun time and if youre in town or just in the neighborhood its worth a visit.
Visiting Chicago and went here for Sunday brunch. Everything was fantastic and our waiter was very patient, informative, and advised us well on our food. I got a veggie burger and the patty was very good and stayed together well unlike many other veggie burgers. I would definitely return!
Very noisy Saturday early afternoon lunch. Asked to sit outside in a covered area on Randolph St. Much better. Beautiful day. Sourdough pancakes were the best.
Great place for my birthday brunch! Server was helpful and great! My birthday cupcake was delicious as well as our food!
Food was tasty and high quality. Our server was nice and very helpful. Both our kids were eyeing stuff off the kids menu and she explained the portion sizes since she saw our kids are on the older end for kids menus and this establishment has that designed for young kids. Then at the end we inquired about a dessert item and she checked and they had stopped making them since we were there at the end of the night. Then when she brought the check she brought a box of 4 cupcakes saying theyd just throw them out and there was no charge. Needless to say my daughters were pretty excited!
We tried a lot of things. Everyone was fantastic. A few quotes from the table:“Best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had”“Everything was fantastic. The crab dib was my favorite.”“Little Piggy Went To China was AMAZING!”Amazing quality. Amazing service. 100% will come back next time I visit Chicago. Jonny our waiter was really awesome!
I would give less stars but the food was to good. The service we had was horrible. The girls.atthe host stand were super nice and got us in right away but it went down hill from there. Our server was less then attentive after he gave us no time to figure out our order, then brought us the wrong receipt for the wrong amount charged our card and then brought it to us.
Food was amazing. staff was incredibly friendly. mimosas were small but very heavy pour on the champagne. we will be back next time we are in town.
What a lovely diner! It gets very busy but is accommodating with outdoor seating. We had a fantastic waiter named Pablo who was very attentive and informative. He gave us the scoop on everything around and handled obnoxious customers nearby with such charm! Thanks Pablo and thank you Little Goat diner for such excellent food!
Food was great, would have liked a bit more meat in the nachos but apart from that everything was delicious. Had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time before being seated but it was very busy and the staff seemed quite stressed. There are patio heaters but it was still pretty chilly with the wind.
Enjoyed this unique little diner. The food menu serves breakfast and lunch all day, with alcoholic beverages/cocktails available as well. Our waiter was friendly and patient as we waited for the last member of our party to join us. They were very accommodating to food allergies and provided us with a vegan menu. Their special dinner menu item was delicious!
Little Goat has an entire vegan menu -- it doesnt appear to be available online, but my server brought me a copy when I mentioned Im vegan. While there are some standard vegan options, like a veggie burger, theyre all done creatively and dont seem standard at all.The restaurant offers fun Diner options like Mexican Coke and Butterscotch Root Beer. (Note to Little Goat: PLEASE OFFER VEGAN MILKSHAKES AND FLOATS).The food is very good, but some dishes are quite heavily salted. Portions are enormous.Solid brunch/lunch place -- I probably wouldnt go for dinner just based on the selection of dishes but will definitely go to lunch here again.
SO good. The hashed browns, the soup, everything
A diner with a twist! Regular diner items but cooked little different with their own surprise. I had french toast that had over easy eggs stuffed in it. And yes, had syrup on it too topped with chicken tenders. Breakfast, lunch and dessert in one. Little on the pricey side but then not your everyday diner.
They got rid of their dedicated vegan menu. The only meal that can be made vegan is the kale chickpea salad. Barely any chickpeas in it, mostly kale :( We sat down right away but took a while to get served. Server was nice.
Amazing open glass atmosphere with a nice skylight to enrich you with sunshine from any angle. Large variety of menu options to choose from. Nice to see dishes that are out of the norm and out of the box. If youre in the mood to experiment then this place is a great option for you. Staff is knowledgeable of the dishes and informative on any decisions you might have. Lunch crowd can get crowded but its well worth a wait. They have outdoor seating if the weather is nice. Give this place a try!
The food is great and the staff are very helpful when explaining the menu. Its a great little dinner that almost takes you back in time with the decor. You should try the photo booth that they offer, but do be fully inside the booth first before you pay; itll take the photos very quickly. And the little store attached is amazing.
Absolutely incredible for breakfast and late lunch that me and my fiancé did. The food was so flavorful and the outdoor patio seating is beautiful for this weather. I’m so glad we came. The chef, owner, and staff are definitely great at what they do and know how to treat customers. We will be back and look forward to it.
Dug into our food so quickly we forgot to take photos! We had the “this little piggy went to China” and the Mac and cheese — both divine and lovely! Hope to come back if we come back to Chicago.
I’ve been here about a half dozen times, and every time I think the food is good, but not good enough to want to order it again. The food is certainly better than most diners and the menu is fun, creative and fits right into the Fulton market scene. You should go here, but mostly just to try something new and unique. The French toast had an egg built right in! Perfectly cooked too. It comes with the syrup already poured over (warning for those who like to portion their own syrup). Cinnamon bun was warm and gooey and insanely sweet. My friend who ate the corned beef hash was disappointed with the dish. Large slices of dry and over cooked corned beef was somewhat mixed into has browns that seems deep fried, not pan friend, so the flavors were not intermixed. They use Publican bacon which is nice and pretty tasty.Just a bit underwhelmed; oh well.
Used to be great...Went the other night, sat outside, and didnt have the same experience. Waited forever for the server, watched them go to other tables that were sat after us first. Got cocktails and the hot crab dip. Used to get the dip all the time, came out more on the burnt end, not the same. Took forever to get our check, etc. Just so many newbie mistakes, but its been around for a while. Overall it felt like theyve become a little too comfortable with their status and have let things slip.
I really enjoyed the little Goat. The atmosphere is great and the booths are really comfortable. There are even decorations before major holidays like Halloween. The food options were good and just varied enough to fit everyones needs. Im pleasantly surprised that they have a small vegan menu, among other special menus. the downside is that the food isnt anything special. So youre paying a higher price for the experience rather than any special food. Bathrooms are clean and the service is what youd expect.
Overall, this was very overrated. Firstly, the only available reservation time was 3:30 on a Saturday. Okay, fine but to our surprise there were tons of vacant seats the entire time we were there, so dont know what that was all about. Service was slow to start and we were all dieing of thirst. After a bit of a wait I had to stop someone to ask for water. She comes back with a carafe and it was horribly warm. Had to ask for some ice. She said thats how it always comes (?). Anyway, our server finally shows and was pleasant and helpful. I ordered the biscuit and gravy (yes one single, large biscuit) it was pretty dry and the small amount of gravy didnt make up for it. Gravy had a strange seasoning in it I couldnt quite put my finger on, but it was edible just odd. My friend had the patty melt she said was excellent and the other had the ruben, which I had a bite of. It too was tasty. We also had some smoky fries which I didnt really care for, but probably just personal preference there. The only thing that saved the day was a delicious ice cream cake. It has strawberry Kwik ice cream and was also salted, so a really interesting combo. On the pricy side so wont be back any time soon, but glad to say we tried it.
Visited the Little Goat Snack Bar window and was so impressed with everything we ordered (frozen aperol spritz, peachy daly, cheeseburger and bahn mi sliders, this little goat went to Korea tacos, loaded fries, and mini nachos). The chips for the nachos are freshly made and stayed crispy the entire time - no sogginess despite them being loaded with toppings.
Excellent service matched diverse flavors on a plentiful brunch menu... yum! Boozey or coffee, salty or sweet, familuar or foreign fusion fun!!! Yall gotta go to the Goat
Must try for brunch! Make a reservation ahead of time, this place is very popular for brunch on weekends. Note it gets very loud in the diner. The bulls eye french toast is the most popular item on the menu for a reason. Its the perfect combination of savory and sweet.Only complaint was the mimosas, I wish they were in proper champagne glasses instead of being served in little juice glasses .
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, only outdoor dining was available with numerous restrictions. Restrictions were clearly posted to protect both diners and restaurant staff. Having stated that, outdoor tables were spaced well and the weather was beautiful (73 degrees in Chicago on Nov 6), so the place was busy. Joan was our server and was just awesome... professional, friendly (and always smiling behind that mask!), knowledgeable about daily specials available, and just made our dining experience today truly enjoyable. All of the support team was also great to keep things tidy and moving along. We had Korean Chicken Tacos, the Saltado Style Burger, and a few Pinot Noirs (Friday lunch, of course). The food was flavorful and filling, the wine a perfect accompaniment to both entrees, and enjoying outdoor dining was icing on the cake. This was one of many enjoyable dining experiences here over the years and there will be hopefully many more to come.
Service was outstanding. I loved the interior design! The menu definitely made you stretch. My only qualms and why it received four stars instead of five, the specials menu listed a Bacon Burger but it had toppings that were not listed and I was not expecting and my burger was NOT cooked to the proper temp. I asked for medium rare and it was well done. I did enjoy the mac and cheese. Convenient for Lyft and cab service and a nice part of the Chicago restaurant row scene.
I had an overall good experience at Little Goat Diner. You will probably want to make reservations - I walked in on a Friday afternoon for lunch and it was over a 45 minute wait. No problem, I took a walk around the area and stopped by Bombobar for dessert before lunch.Little Goat is airy and spacious inside. They also have patio seating, but given the 95 degree weather, I was grateful to be seated inside. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable but disappeared once food came out - we were unable to flag anyone down for an extra plate since we were sharing food so we ended up passing plates back and forth while eating. The waitress did reappear at the end of the meal to refill water.I ordered the Los Drowned sandwich, which is braised beef based. It was so delicious - the beef was fall-apart tender and well balanced with the sandwich toppings. Its served a la carte - any sides are an additional charge. I found it to be a little pricey for what you get.In general, service could use a little work and wait times are very long. Food, however, is excellent and tasty, although a little overpriced. I would definitely come back.
Super cool interior, busy, loud, true city diner! Everything is flavorful and amazing - a must for Chicago visitors and locals alike.
Came here while visiting town for all star weekend. We didn’t have reservations and it was Saturday around 10AM. They said 45 min wait, me and my dad went to the back to wait, which is completely first come first serve and got a seat in 15 minutes :) food was good. Service was nice. I liked my meal, the syrup was definitely home made and it tasted good but.... it was different. Not saying that in a bad way. Food came out quick. No complaints!
Loved it. We were at a private event at Hidden Goat upstairs and it was amazing food, cocktails and company. A+
Amazing dining experience. I had the little piggy went to China and the cinnamon role and they were both fantastic. The waitress said the more unusual the name of the dish, the better the taste and she wasn’t wrong! We all ordered different things and everyone was very satisfied with their meals. I highly recommend this place!
The food was decent but the AC was broken and it was ungodly hot. It wasnt the AC that really bothered me but the Flys that were landing on our food because they left the door open that was pretty nasty. I didnt check the vibe so its my bad but this is def a brunch breakfast spot. I wouldnt come here for dinner.
Not super, good and adequate. Food is a bit too salty to my taste. Service is good.
On our trip to Chicago, this was my favorite stop. I really enjoyed the food here. I decided to order the most outrageous thing on the menu, The Almighty Goat Burger. Usually, burgers that are like this try to do too much and at the end only deliver a mediocre experience. The Almighty Goat Burger though, was amazing. Each meat was flavorful and moist, and together, it was a flavor explosion. Recommend everything on their menu.
I love coming here and always bring our out of town guests in for brunch. I highly recommend reservations to cut down on the wait time. I like to try new items off the menu, but always find myself going back to This little piggy went to China along with the tempura mashed potatoes and and dirty chai latte to finish it off.The last two visits (out of 5) the service has been lacking-hence the 4 stars. Fortunately, since we are familiar with the restaurant, have had better experiences there and love the food so much, it doesnt deter us from returning. Always looking forward to going back.
Nice spot! Went during Chicago Restaurant week, January 2020, and worth the trip. Price fixe menu, got to start with the Nosh Town platter- excellent! Wife had fish + chips and I had the butter chicken pot pie. We switched dishes and ended up liking what the other ordered.Finished with desert- chocolate silk over the mint sundae for us. The room is warm, ambiance relaxing, music awesome. Great might in hot loop!
What about tables - they are served great! Each dish looks decent. I wouldnt call the prices insanely high, considering that the quality of food at Little Goat is wonderful! Apart from the above, I would like to praise local desserts! Here are incredibly delicious cupcakes with caramel cream or peanut butter.
