One of my favorite places for brunch in Chicago! The price was reasonable, and the portion was large. We enjoyed the fresh juice, iron man omelet, croque madame, cinnamon roll slices and French toasts. Would recommend people who want to get a seat to register online in Yelp prior their arrival since it usually takes a long time to wait in person.
Be sure to put your name on the wait list ahead of time! It’s online and saved us so much of a headache. The cinnamon roll French toast was so gooey and the perfect level of sweet. The grits were tasty, too. Coffee was OK. This place had such a nice aesthetic and I really loved the food, I hope to come back!
I LOVE THIS LOCATION! It’s very spacious compared to other Yolk locations, the people are incredibly nice, and the food is so delicious! I love eating on their patio! I enjoyed myself so much I didn’t even get pics!
Great breakfast plates. Try everything. Yes you won’t be disappointed. They have lots of cool meals you would not normally think of getting. Try this restaurant today. It will soon be one of your awesome favorites in Chicago. The staff was also very friendly and courteous. I would recommend this Yolk restaurant to anyone.
I ordered the scrambled egg with salmon, and unfortunately the salmon was not fresh and had a very fishy taste. I was very disappointed. my coffee was cold. The waiter was very rude and was not tentative. He was always in a hurry. My daughters eggs were not cooked right, and they were runny. I will not be going back to that restaurant. The waiter was a tall young white guy
We came on a Saturday morning and we’re intimidated by the long line. But their texting and waitlist organization is fantastic. We were seated within 25 minutes as promised. The food was delicious and tons of options! They also note the vegetarian, spicy, and staff favorite items which is very helpful. staff was very attentive and friendly. Great experience!
Goo place to get brunch on a Sunday morning after a weekend in Chicago. You can get valet parking in the crazy looking circle parking deck that overlooks the Chicago river. If you show your parking slip to your server, then they can validate it and being the cost of parking down to $18, as long as your out within 3 hours.Food is pretty good and reasonably priced for eating in downtown Chicago. I got the loaded hash browns which were delicious and tried some of the velvet french toast which is some of the sweetest food Ive had. Yummy!
Fast, friendly service- we got Todd as our server… he was super friendly and helpful with deciding the order and quick with coffee and water refills.Would go again.
A+ breakfast, A+ that it’s BYOB. Brought our own mimosas which was awesome, and the brunch menu at Yolk had probably 12 thing I had trouble choosing between. Settled on the Cheesy Egg Sandwich and the Frittata. The sandwich was light but filling and the frittata was more of a scramble but still really good. Our service was also great and the food did not take long to be prepared and served.
The food was really fresh and got to me piping hot. Didnt have the seasoned potatoes I wanted so it was subbed with fresh berries which was a much lighter option. Really appreciated the thought. The omelette was light a fluffy. So were the pancakes. I liked that they gave whipped butter. Better for melting. Great first time experience.
Yolk was great! While in town for work, I found them as a quick walk from my hotel for a nice breakfast alone. The following day, I brought my work group with me and they were able to immediately sit a group of 13 and serve us accordingly. Great service, great food.
I was in Chicago for two weeks on business and Yolk was right next-door to my hotel so I decided to give it a try. Excellent food, excellent service and an all-around amazing experience. The eggs Benedict was perfect ... crispy English muffin perfectly toasted, the poached eggs were just cooked through but the yolk was still nice and runny. The hollandaise sauce just had a touch of tang and the perfect amount of spice. The manager Damien was an awesome host. Lucas, Heather, Roxanne, and Alex were some of the most professional and friendly wait staff Ive ever encountered in Chicago. I will not go anywhere else when Im in Chicago to eat breakfast from now on. If I could give Yolk 10 stars I would.!!!
I enjoyed the countryside skillet. The pancakes were also delicious.
Always stop at Yolk when I am in chicago! Its always a bright cheery place to get an amazing breakfast!
This was my second visit to this location, my first being several years ago. Today, we had a short wait to get in and the waitlist moved quickly. Put yourself on the waitlist before you leave to minimize your wait! We were happy to have a booth that was tucked away. Slight mishap with our order-ended up getting a side of bacon instead of the American fries, but they corrected it quickly. We were charged for the bacon, but I can let it go because it we were asked if we wanted to keep it and it was tasty. I tried the avocado toast, and if you’re a savory breakfast person like me, it was light and great! My daughter got the Nutella crepes, and she felt it was too sweet after a while but also delicious.
Waiting time too long, dish are good. Price reasonable.
Split the Cali omelette. Had enough garlic so that were protected from vampires for the rest of the week.Nutella crepe was delicious. Good coffee good service.
This is the first place I tried as soon as I landed in Chicago based on recommendation from a friend! I was blown away with their breakfast! So filling and delicious! Awesome customer service as well.
Got the country skillet - *bomb.com*. Went with my mom for Mother’s Day and she got an omelette that was also quite good. Usually don’t endorse chain restaurants but when the food is good, it’s good! One important distinguishing factor was the service = 11/10. Attentive, kept the table clean, noticed when we ran low on creamer, supplied to-go coffee cups, and generally very friendly. One of the few times I gave a 25% tip. Go to this location right after 11am and sit outside right when the sun hits the patio.
Excellent menu, friendly, professional, yet relaxed service, and wonderful food! We were able to dine outdoors with our dog but they had plenty of indoor seating as well. The one drawback is that they were very busy - we waited about 30 minutes to be seated. our server was attentive and food came out quickly despite this. Seems there are not enough comparable venues in the area.Everything was fresh and delicious. The strawberry OJ was a big hit.
Get the day started right!I was here from outta town visiting. This is my new favorite breakfast spot and once you read this review and try it for yourself it will be your favorite spot too.Make sure you put your name on the wait list online so your set.You can B.Y.O.B. For the ultimate strawberry orange juice orange mimosas or Bloody Mary’s.And prepare to rock out to some of the best music! The first day we had a spreadAvocado Toast- smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, tomato and onion this is a great starter or shareableGrilled salmon and eggs- this is the best of both worlds!Eggs and potatoes will leave you ready to take on the day.The cheese my grits were pretty standard u till you add Yolks house made hot sauce.Red Velvet French Toast- you won’t even need the maple syrup and if you add it watch this FT melt in your mouth.Nutella Crepes- jam packed with Nutella, walnuts, bananas, strawberries and topped with powdered sugar and Nutella drizzle. Comes with a side of maple syrup I ordered a full and had breakfast for the next day.I asked the waitress if she could not only put the crêpe inside of a to go container but wrap it in saran wrap so I didn’t didn’t leak all over my bag it made it back to my hotel at 9 PM that night and one piece amazing!!!Our second dayWe had the Red Velvet French Toast, the Salmon eggs scrambled with grits, grilled salmon and potatoes and a corn beef hash with a side of and Turkey sausage.Pro: great staff, amazing food and atmosphereCon: there isn’t one back home in Minnesota :/Like my review if you agree
The location is central and easy to find. The staff was very kind and helpful and the food portions were generous and fairly priced. The drawback was ordering a $3 juice that came in a tiny glass. Also there was no alcohol sold, so no brunch mimosas. I would highly recommend this location and will be back in the future.
Spectacular breakfast good service long lines. Very fortunate to eat there on a slow day. We went there 4x lol. Loved it.
Food not great for takeout. Avocado toast was primary tomatoes with soggy bread and no salmon to be found. The croque madam was sweet and had no béchamel. Overall do not recommend the takeout experience, food might be better dine-in or at less busy hours.
We came here for breakfast on a whim one morning before sightseeing with our family of 6. Prices aren’t too bad for a place downtown Chicago. The menu not like anything anywhere else. Our server had great recommendations. This place seemed to fill up quickly so I’d definitely recommend getting here early.
As sit here and reflect on my very recent experience at Yolk, I find myself getting angrier and angrier. Not only did the people that came before have a problem with being seating but so did we. The greeter continously would sit people who came in after us. I actually had to get her attention and she had the nerve to ask us if we snuck in through the SIDE DOOR. Not funny. We are the only two black people in the restaurant at the time. We had large peacoats on. For her to miss us was purposeful in my opinion.
Came highly recommended by the Royal Sonata and we ate their twice while in town. Great location near downtown, excellent menu options, we were stuffed. My boyfriend loved their coffee. I loved the works omlet. Get there early to get a seat!
Usually breakfast places are similar to most other breakfast places but, not here. Yolk has amazing breakfast dishes that I wish I could find where I live. Every ingredient in their breakfast skillet had great flavor, and their red velvet french toast was basically the best red velvet cake youve ever had, but for breakfast instead!
Great breakfast! Went outside of my comfort zone (Im a meat and potatoes guy) and got a kale and goat cheese scramble. It was delicious. Service was super friendly. Great location. Definitely recommend giving it a try.
Great place for breakfast. Very tasty, their fresh squeezed juices were amazing. Our server was awesome (I think her name was Emma Jean).
My mate was craving an eggy breakfast and after all was said and done, we were SO happy we wandered in. Lucas not only provided service with a truly sunny disposition, he made the experience by saving the meal. The scramble was ordered soft and came out well done. Lucas raced to replace it and when it came back (before the tasty cheesy grits side was even finished) it was perfect! Were in town til the weekend and plan on coming back before we leave. Fingers crossed Lucas will be there!
The food here was just okay. There was just too much of everything in the croque madame to really enjoy it. But the freshly squeezed orange juice was very good and customer service was top notch.
Decent for breakfast and/or lunch, appropriately priced. Indoor and outdoor but the outdoor is right up against the street or garage so no view even though the river is a stones throw away, constant smell of auto exhaust.Service was good, the food was as expected.. Some interesting espresso choices, hot or iced. The brisket burgers are spot on, I could eat these regularly. Maybe I had an off day, but the skillet wasnt all that and seemed like it could have taken another minute or two to crisp the taters. When we got there, it was busy and had to wait 15 minutes to get a table. Was seated behind the kitchen and was constantly bothered by the sound of dishes being done on the other side of a very thin wall. Lots of service personnel running back and forth including the ever constant bussing carts full of dirty dishes.Id eat here again, more likely get the takeout.
Busy location but thankfully they have the ability to order online and pickup. So we ordered egg sandwiches and they were ready in 25 minutes. We then took them down to the riverwalk for the perfect breakfast. The sandwich was good and I enjoyed my cheesy grits.
The food here was amazing. First, they had outdoor dining and all of the employees were wearing masks so I felt safe during the pandemic. They also have a QR code on every table that you can scan with the camera app on your phone to bring up a PDF of the menu. The waitress was extremely friendly and made sure to check up on us every once in a while to ask if everything was okay. After ordering our food, which was the chicken and waffles and the All-Star combo, it only took about 5 minutes or so for everything to come. The service was extremely fast! The portions were also way larger than I had expected for a $13 dish and was extremely filling. Since Ive been craving a good brunch spot for a while, the food definitely satisfied my craving.Overall, I was very satisfied with the service and large portions and would definitely go again!
I want to first mention that I’m Australian and so this review is going to be a little bias. Pretty fun concept with egg everything. The flavours unfortunately ran into eachother that in the group of us order differing things, everything sort of tasted the same. Didn’t expect much but still also had some standards.Service was great despite us sitting at the back near the bathrooms. Menu was overwhelming yet taste was average perhaps a little bland and salty.
What a menu!WE loved this restaurant so much we ate here twice for breakfast. Their lemon blueberry pancakes were so delish! The potato pancakes smothered in sour cream, bacon, cheese and green onions were also so good! I had the skillet the first time and my husband had the bagel sandwich, both were so good. I would highly recommend going for a breakfast that will tie you over for the rest of the day!
A perfect breakfast right before a 10 mile hike.Taste fine, but every savory dish had a lot of added sugar too (soup, eggs Benedict etc). Feels like I just ate 7000 calories in a meal.
Nice spot to eat at you have a choice off eating outside or inside. The food was good.
Great service, fair prices, decent coffee, delicious food, and many, many food options. One of my most favorite breakfast places in the world - and I travel a lot.
Wow. Good food. Very large portions. Couldnt eat it all! I was full for more than half the day! Nice people and service.
Everyone was so pleasant and welcoming, the food was delicious and our server Alex was awesome!! Good vibes for sure
My experience for yolks restaurant I rank it a 3 because I do not eat cold pancakes my pancakes was very cold and the Hot Grits too watery other than that I enjoyed will I go back yes they have over food on the menu I would like to try this is why I ranked them a 3 have a nice day everybody and enjoy
Great service from our waitress very friendly kept checking on us. Food came out quick fresh and hot. We were seated within 15 minutes even though they were busy.
This is without any doubts the place where I had the best breakfast Ive ever had in the USA so far. Please try the Croque Madame, a French toast sandwich with grilled ham, turkey, cheese, topped with an egg and potatoes. Its truly amazing! I would come here again but unfortunately Im leaving today. Great job guys. Keep it up.
The food was ok. The service, however, was horrible. We ordered takeout and they said it would be ready at 11:17am so we showed up to pick it up and we were told that it’s not ready. We waited for 10 minutes and still no food. After 30 minutes we asked again. We were told that on weekends they push the to go orders back to accommodate the in house orders first. We waited and hour and a half for our breakfast just to have cold, very average tasting food. Very disappointing.
Delicious food. If your blood has just been coursing through your arteries lately and you want to curb that and tap into your inner Wilford Brimley diabeetus definitely go here. You wont be sorry, but your heart and cholesterol might be. South of the border benny for me, matcha latte, and banana nut bread french toast for second breakfast. Friggin love this place.
