We own an 1892 Eastlake Victorian home and over the past several years, weve worked with the Wooden Nickel on a number of occasions in order to acquire period-appropriate antiques that would work well with both the age and style of our home. The owners and their associates are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and weve found every interaction and shopping experience to be absolutely exceptional!Theyve been in business for over 40 years and they are experts in both the antiques and historical salvage industry. They offer a wide selection of inventory at fair market prices and they also have a top-notch delivery team! Stop by their shop in Cincinnati or visit them online to see for yourself. Youll be glad you did.

Some really special pieces at this place! Friendly staff and very knowledgeable. The owner is very honest. I purchased a piece with a defect (in the scrap room), and he made sure I knew what I was getting. Very trustworthy

This is our reply to the recent review by PAUL STOTTS: The item that Paul asked us to remove from the wall was a large, heavy gold-painted mirror/picture frame just high enough to be out of arms reach. To take it down for him (or anyone) would have required two staff people to do so carefully. (NOTE: We did not have two people onsite at the time.) He could not have taken this item with him for the same reason; it would require delivery. It was possible for him to take a photo with his phone at close range and zoom in to see details. (It was not out of sight, just inaccessible to move at that moment.) And since we also have photos with close-up details on our website, he could have easily examined the photos there. Perhaps Paul is not experienced in shopping at stores with items that are primarily architectural, large, heavy, and harder to move than in cases of displays at antique malls.

When I expressed interest in a piece I was told they would not give me access to inspect it and I had to buy it to inspect it. I am not sure what clientele they have or how they sell anything with that absurd attitude

If only you could give zero stars. In all my years, not just frequenting antique stores but being a consumer, I have never been treated so rudely in my life. The owner(?) actually got chesty with me and followed me out the door as if to fight. I wouldnt buy something there if it were the last place on earth to source from. If that werent bad enough, it has been relayed to me on several occasions from reputable authorities that they knowingly take stolen materials and resell them. If money is power then I hope you choose to boycott this store.Edit: as I cannot reply to the owners response, I have to respond here. Its is 6 months later but a neighbor just alerted me to it and it is relevant nonetheless.I was directed to the back by a blondish woman after calling ahead about a gate. Upon checking I saw one broken gate not two. I went back up front where two people ignored me from behind the counter and the woman I had seen earlier was nowhere in sight. As minutes passed and I didnt go away, the gentlemen on the phone snapped at me asking what I wanted. I said, I had called ahead looking for a gate but only found one, the broken one for 300 some odd dollars and was that the only one they had. He immediately got irate with me and started going off about how he was on the phone long distance to which I replied, Long distance? What is this 1983? or something to that extent and turned to leave. He stormed after me nearly to my car as if looking to fight. That is when I became upset. It was bizarre and unlike any treatment I have ever received in a store, let alone from a sane individual. The funny thing is, I had just bought an old house and thought there was a lot of cool stuff in the store. I wasnt put off by the price as much as I was confused because the gate was not at all what I had described needing over the phone. Regardless, if I wasnt treated so poorly I wouldve browsed around and surely returned to purchase things for my new 134 year old house. After the way I was treated, I wouldnt go there if they were giving things away.I only wish I would have seen their response earlier. I wouldve responded much sooner, if only to set the record straight and hopefully save someone from wasting their time with this place. Oddly enough, I also have not heard from their crack legal team that has surely been hunting me down for my slanderous [sic] review. As a side note, if you look through my Google review history youll notice Ive never taken this much time to review anything. I hope that is testament to how out of line I believe this guy to be and how strongly I recommend you looking elsewhere for your antiques.

Worst customer service. Blond lady barely acknowledged me, she was rude and condescending. I have a very rare art piece I found in my historical home (1865) but not bringing my business here.

We’ve frequented this shop since moving to Cinci but had a super negative experience today. We were interested in a small crystal chandelier and asked to see it more closely before purchasing it. We wanted to see if the ceiling drop - which was not listed on the measurement card - would work for us and to make sure the crystal was in good shape. As it was hanging from very high ceiling, we couldn’t tell either of these things from our vantage point on the ground. The woman working said they don’t allow you to look at the chandeliers before buying. She was quite rude about this and didn’t offer any other solutions (e.g., getting a ladder to get a measurements). Just no and no nothing else. The policy itself is silly and not customer friendly ... especially for a small chandelier ... but the rudeness of the saleswoman is what made me decide I won’t be back.

Very nice and old building with some amazing stuff inside. The owner was there and was more than helpful and cordial in explaining everything from the history of the building to the history of the many items to be found inside. Go there with time to browse. Theres some Exquisite Furniture the likes of which I have never seen.

Great field trip on a rainy afternoon to see beautiful objects from the past. The Wooden Nickel specializes in architectural antiques which means big beautiful stuff. We found a one-of-a-kind chandelier that made our living room from ordinary to spectacular. Great store and nice staff.

If i could give zero stars, i would. Bought a beautiful front bar from The Wooden Nickel about 20 years ago. Downsizing and looking to sell, so first thought was to contact the Wooden Nickel as they advertised interest in buying antique items. When I connected with someone who could help me, the conversation started pleasant enough. But, within seconds i was asked very bluntly How much do you want for it?. I wasnt certain, so asked what he thought. And how much i thought i paid for it 20 years ago. He rudely retorted again How much do you want for it?. So, i threw out a number. He then said hed look at the pics I sent again. And said he had to go. I asked if he would call me back so that we could further discuss. Twice i asked just to be sure i understood. He agreed the first time. The second time he hung up on me. And never called back. Although, i dont expect a return call, i hope he does. Because i wouldnt sell my beautiful bar back to The Wooden Nickel for 50 bucks.

Without a doubt the pieces in this store are incredible, you will find unbelievable works of art in furniture and chandeliers. The staff leaves a lot to be desired; as in they are rude. This takes away from the experience. You will find one customer they speak to with respect and then another will get a hornets sting.

Place is great if you are looking to furnish your MANSION but it doesnt really do much for the average joe. They mostly sell huge heavy expensive furniture pieces and chandeliers, definitely not as much architectural salvage as they let on ( one mouldy corner of the dusty basement). This is not a place for a knick-nacks and trinkets collector, more for an art dealer etc. looking for big statement pieces.
