In town on vacation and needed groceries. Stop n shop is always so clean and well stocked. I was able to find everything I needed inside. The store was super clean and the staff are all super nice just like I was expecting! Thank you for making my vacation perfect with your selection of products!

Always do my weekly grocery shopping here. Specials and sales, plus you get gas pts. Most employees are very helpful and friendly. The store has cleanliness issues and you have to check expiration dates. Otherwise, large selection, carry name brands as well as store brands. Have gotten a larger selection of organic foods -from veggies & fruits, to meats, dairy, etc. A good full service grocery store.

A reasonably complete selection of produce, bakery, bottled and canned goods, meat, dairy and frozen foods. The former natural foods section is gone, but many of the same products are still available elsewhere in the store. Also various household products such as detergent, cleaning, food storage, and paper goods.Some things are hard to find, but employees are glad to help and service good.

Really love this store. They always have what Im looking for and the employees are incredibly kind and helpful. I also often use the grocery pickup and they are always quick to bring my order to the car and the employees are always top notch and super accommodating. Ive messed up my order a couple times and not realized it until after someones shopped for me and Ive called and they gladly fix it no questions asked. Very professional and helpful.

I have a soy allergy. It is so hard shopping in your store, everything has soybean oil in it! I have to stop when I shop and do it very carefully. But many times I get something that I cant eat and have to throw away, i.e. buns, crackers, snacks. Its a broken relationship that I wish would improve.

The store is reasonably clean and there are some really nice cashiers there.

I go to this Stop and Shop (Colchester CT.) very seldom because the prices are so much higher than the one much farther from my home. Some things are as much as 25 to 30% higher. I go there only for the convenience.

Good variety, high prices at times but if they could remove the expired cold food, that would be great!

I enjoy shopping at this location as it tends to be less crowded when Im there and it has a nice shopping atmosphere.

This store is not cheap. But bigger problem is that it always has only a limited number of checkout lanes open - except self-checkout, which rarely goes smoothly and never an employee around to assist. Self checkout lane is not a benefit to shoppers. On the positive side, they have a roving robot.

Unfortunately Ive consistently experienced many issues with this particular Stop & Shop over the 10+ years Ive been shopping here. Its the only major grocery store in Colchester which is the only reason I continue to shop there. It seems to have higher prices on many items compared to other S&S locations and significantly higher prices on a majority of items than other major grocery stores such as Big Y etc... They are also consistently out of many common items with no rhyme or reason to this problem that I can see. Much of there produce is constantly underwhelming and frequently goes bad only a day or 2 after purchasing. Ive often found produce still in store that has gone bad or is badly bruised and/or damaged. Just this past week almost all red onions and most bags of carrots in store had already gone bad. The only good thing Ive seen about this store is its employees. They seem to be frequently understaffed, yet Ive always had great experiences when dealing with any of the them. If you live in Colchester I would suggest avoiding S&S if at all possible and driving a bit further to the closest Big Y.

Self checkout is ridiculously difficult. The machine is a total pain. The helper were going crazy trying to get everyone back on track. The new paper bags are too thin and way too small. Worse than useless. Not enough help at the people staffed checkout s. Long lines there and disaster at the self checkout.

I love Stop n Shop but sometimes they dont stock enough and run out of sale items. For the most part everyone is friendly and does a great job.

To say this store is not very impressive would be an understatement.The restructuring and makeover during the last year was handled terribly. I lost count of how many times I went in and whole aisles were moved, then moved somewhere else the next time. Wasted tons of time looking for items on random carts in random aisles. Several other times that I went in, it looked like a grocery store in Venezuela, with shelves completely empty of different staple goods. It is convenient to blame it on Covid and supply chain failures, but I can assure you that other than toilet tissue, Big-Y never had these issues.Four weeks ago I was here, and the meat department was completely out of ground beef, in the middle of the day on a Saturday......how does that happen, unless there is a failure in the ordering process?But hey, they have a really great robot that everyone hates, wandering around the store getting in everyones way, so there is that......

Terrible. Limited product available, closure of self checkout lanes, prepackaged and sealed meats in the meat department. Time to start going to Noels, Big Y and Shop Rite.

Wasnt super busy when I went but the plaza lanes are laid out strangely. You 100% have to watch out for people not paying attention going to the Starbucks in the same plaza.

I personally feel that BigY is better!

My experience at the Colchester Stop and Shop was excellent. The service there is very good, and there is a rather wholesome ambiance. I would recommend it any day to anyone.

I think the Colchester, Stop & Shop... needs help stocking there shelves in the evening. In the morning Im able to shop at this store, early. Im usually one of 5 people that go in early. At this time youd assume all the shelves would be stocked... WRONG ! Everytime I go there Im very disappointed.Many times those items on sales are not available. Id ask a worker if they had more of that sale item... in the back? There answer has always been NO. One day I mentioned this problem to a Manager. He said that if something was on sale and if they didnt have more on the shelf/in the back... that we could buy something else, similar, for the same price of the sale item.Im wondering if other Colchester residences have had this annoying and costly thing happening to them, too?

This store has a serious fruit fly problem.I purchased bread three times recently,two from the bakery and one package of. Natures Promise english muffins. All three had fruit flies in the bags!!!! I willbe avoiding this store. This problem needs to be rectified!!!!

My cashier was extremely rude. I work in retail,I am never, ever rude to my customers. She made me feel like I did something to her. I had two separate orders and bagged for her. AID42203. I dont usually shop at this Stop and Shop for this reason. I live in Colchester but try and shop elsewhere.

Nice remodeling job because of all the money spent on it could be great if they lowered the prices everythings almost $5

The place has a huge selection, but employees tend to be rude to those who are disabled (other employees and customers alike). Its incredibly expensive but sometimes its the only place to get a certain food item. Their dragonfruit and starfruit are both horrid, never are they fresh.

They have a wide variety of goods. Always have what I need. Well organized and mindful of current pandemic worries on the part of their patrons. Points provided for savings at the gas pump is also a nice touch.

It was very organized. There was one way tape on the floor to limit person to person exposure. Although, it was a little busy, and they didnt have everything that I needed.

Three stars is being generous. I am seriously considering new place to go. They seem to be under staffed especially at the registers probably because of all of the self checkouts. Our store has at least 12 or more open at all times. At the same time they only have 2 or 3 registers open and more often than not there is no one to bag my groceries. I usually end up bagging half of them myself. For what they charge for food they should have much better Customer Service. Its obvious that they are more interested in their bottom line than they are their customers.

This store is old and tired and in bad need of replacement. They are updating it currently but due to zoning laws they cant build a bigger store and this store is of the older Stop and Shop foot print. It was looking pretty bad for a while and well have to see how the update goes. Recently was hassled by Customer Service clerk a kid that looked about 10 years old refusing to sell me an item. Case of a little bit of power gone to his head and thinks hes funny hassleing senior citizens. They really should think before putting this kids on the customer service desk. Bad enough he took his time coming to the counter when he saw I was waiting but then to give me a hard time was way over the top. Cant say much good about this place really but its the only game in town.

In the middle on my review at the moment - only 3 Stars. I was at the Colchester Stop & Shop last week, having not been to this location in several weeks. It was in the middle of a massive remerchandising / renovation face lift if the entire store. Unfortunate timing with the Coivid situation. Most of us want to get in and out as quickly as possible. With entire departments and aisles changing, the huge store was a disaster zone. Store associates were are frustrated as the customers...

Its great when you buy sale items

Its super expensive, the robot is super annoying and the fish area always is way smellier than it should be. I really try to never shop there. The pharmacy and pharmacists are great though. Hence the 3 stars...its the only redeeming feature. Shop at Noels or Westchester Market.

Clean and great staff

Overpriced. Service marginal. Fruits and vegetables always seem tired even when they are just put out on the shelf. Selection given the prices could be a LOT better. I only have 2 stars instead of 1 because Ive been in worse grocery stores. But not many!

Convenient since its close to home. It would be nice if they didnt force you to go through the auto checkout. Only 2 or 3 cashiers are open at a time. Hey, Stop and Shop, we spend lots of money here so give us the service we deserve. When do you plan to have better plastic bags for our food? They rip before we make it to the car.

Its a Stop&Shop... pretty self explanatory. No better or worse than the next S&S, maybe a little cleaner. Employees were nice and helpful.

Its a good experience as long as you dont need staff assistance. As with most businesses, some of the employees have virtually zero understanding of the job they have been paid to do. In my situation, I was held up for ten minutes waiting for an employee to figure out how to begin the auditing process for which I was randomly selected. Otherwise the store is reasonably clean, well stocked, and provides quality products.

Good for most basic things. I don’t prefer this place for produce with the exception of the storemade Guacamole, that stuffs heaven. The deli is decent and since it’s got the towns monopoly in grocery store chain, there is a bit of an up charge. I expect this to change with the Big Y opening up in Marlborough.

I feel this location does a better job than most especially in the produce Seafood and Meat departments. The attention to handling and Refrigeration demands are met by this location every time. That is what I want in a grocer. Grade a quality handled and refrigerated properly

It is ok, it does have most of the basics, but is an older store, you can tell that,while yes it has self checkouts. They dont have a very big selection for special foods or gluten free foods yet. Couldnt find gluten free bread there, or gluten free soy sauce. Had to go to another grocery store to find those things which made it not very convenient for a large chain grocery.

The pharmacy is great! The pharmacists really know what theyre talking about and are incredibly helpful. Instead of paying $400 for a prescription, they reached out to the doctor to get them to change it to a different one that does the same thing. Thank you so much Renee for your help!

Ok so to stop people from going the wrong way down aisles they blocked half the aisle with racks. Then they moved everything around so you dont know where anything is(even an employee complained about it when I asked for help). I spent and extra half hour in store looking for what I had a list prepared for. When I ran into someone going the wrong way they had to back up the narrow aisle. So stupid to endanger the public like this.

Its a grocery store....it has groceries. Meats can be tough compared to smaller igas. Good choice of flowers. Bakery is good. Produce pretty good. Good bit of prepared foods. Checkout usually quick. Groceries just expensive in ct in general.

Really great. Good food and stuff. If you use your Stop & Shop card you get points that can be used down the street to get lower gas prices. Pretty neat.

I think everybody pretty much knows what kind of supermarket Stop & Shop is. Some prices are very good & some prices, not so much. It is what it is.

Great staff - Ive been going there for years. One small issue, though. Theyre on the tail end of the produce delivery system, so their fruits & veggies arent as fresh as other grocery stores that Ive been to. I only continue going there because its convenient.

Busy place always

Fresh food. Good prices. Has scanner guns for do it yourself checkout. Sales are always very good. Employees are helpful and pleasant.

The staff is overall nice. Its conveniently close to home and I love the peapod delivery system. Some items I cant find there so I have to go to other stores pretty far out but overall well stocked.

By far one of the worst S&S stores I have ever been to. This store is ridiculously overpriced compared to the surrounding towns. Also, they are often out of stock of just about every sale item. Good luck ever finding a friendly person who works at the seafood or meat department. I feel miserable every time I have to set foot in this store and spend my hard earned cash here.

Too expensive,but theyre the only show in town. We do have a smaller grocery store also, which we use occasionallyThis Stop and Shop has the highest prices in CT. Cant wait till a Big Y opens in a neighboring town soon! Aisles are too cluttered also.

Average meats and produce. Prices on the high side. Only come here if I just need a quick few things otherwise I will take the 30 min to drive anywhere other than stop & shop

This is my go to grocery store in my town go here once twice a week regularly never have an issue never have a problem the pros is usually good could be a better selection of local organic produce but overall great place is one crazy lady that works there friendly talks to you like you should know I dont work every auto check or by yourself and when it makes a weird beeping sound its your fault but other than that I like this place

Not sure why the prices are a little higher at this Stop & Shop they have good sales and the fruit and vegetables are fresh. I do most of my shopping there when I cant get to Walmart! Just found out why prices are higher! No competition..I will say this if something is not fresh and you bring it back they will double the price on fresh vegetables.

I do like stop and Shop but every where you have your ups and downs. Positives to me is I really like Natures Promise items. I know my family is eating healthier and the store is always clean. The downsides are Ill give examples. I have allergies and wanted bran muffins but not with raisins. They werent even marked to say they were bran muffins. So I went to the bakery and inquired and said I just need to make sure they are actually bran muffins bc of no labeling and dont have raisins bc of an allergy. She assured me that they were bran and definitely didnt have raisins. I bought them. Well whatcha think? I open it get ready to eat it and notice its full of raisins. People dont take allergies seriously and if she wasnt sure she should have said that but instead assured they were raisin free. And how frustrating because you think you are about to enjoy something and you cant.Next is the deli. How many times I go and get meat and get residue from whatever they sliced before. My ham was full of roast beef blood. I return it and I now avoid the deli counter. So its good for somethings but definitely buy things packaged up and you know what you are getting.Today they had Easter Candy. It said 90 percent . There are shelves of two kinds of candy clearly near the 90 percent. I get up to register. They didnt ring up 90 percent. I asked the cashier.next I know a I guess a manager or lead says thats not 90 percent off and someone has already complained but nothing was done about it. I told her it clearly near the 90 percent and that is terrible advertisement. She said sorry thats how the store put it. She would not give me the discount. The only positive if finally the candy got moved away from the 90 percent.Beware Beware when getting chicken salad. I bit into a big bone and was choking on it. Please check your stuff before giving it to anyone that has swallowing problems.Well today there was a irate maybe crazy not sure lady terrorizing people in the bathroom. Please Mothers be careful letting your child go into the bathroom. Seriously whats next at Stop n Shop.
