First time rock buyers beware - rocks will be much bigger than what you expect.I ordered a full truckload of rocks form Rocky Top Resources at the advertised size of 2-4 inches. Check out the attached photos, you will see that they are much larger than 2-4 inches. To help put things into perspective, I wear a size 13 shoe. These rocks were way larger than what we wanted.When calling the company, I was told I received the right product.How does this happen?Well, apparently the mesh system that they use on the quarry allows for this to happen and large rocks like this slip through. I am not exaggerating at all when I say that the vast majority of my rocks were very large like this and not even close to 2-4 inches.But wait... I gave 4/5 stars?Because Rocky Top Resources provided outstanding customer service from the ladies who answer the phones, to the gentlemen who drop the rocks on your drive way. Outstanding customer service.On top of that, the way management handled my inquiry about how large the rocks were was with the highest level of professionalism. I ultimately decided to keep the rocks and make them work. They took great care of me though and set the example of what conducting good business looks like.-1 star because I think a warning of some kind should come along with these rock size. If it did, I would have absolutely ordered the 1-2 inch rocks and received the originally desired size.

Outstanding people and great products. They are one of the smaller shops in town. But I will never go anywhere else. Why? Great people. I needed a bucket worth of rocks and was willing to pay top dollar for it. They told me get what you want and we will work it out I only got like 1/3 of a bucket. But it was so nice to see how they acted. Thanks guys!

The service was great, but unfortunately they were out of the rock l wanted to buy. I intend to go back and look again. Hopefully, l will find a good substitute.

The customer service lady Kyleen I think is her name. Was extremely helpful and really knows her numbers. Was able to get every one through the line fast and answered all my questions. Made my visit very pleasant. Alot of these rock places have very rude customer service but she was a delight. I will definitely be back.

Very dangerous place. The loader drivers drive around like they own the place and do not watch out for you. We almost got hit multiple times causing us to have to slam on the brakes. People inside are usually nice but all the loader drives are rude as hell

Our favorite place in town for landscaping materials bought in bulk. Family owned and helpful folks to get you what you need. We have purchased crushed granite, compost, and mulch. We will be looking to get flagstone in the near future. Thanks for being friendly.

I love Rocky Top. I’ve been going here for close to 10 years for all my landscape/gardening needs not to mention the killer firewood. I have been recommending them over and over in the FB garden groups I’m in and also on next door anytime someone needs their type of goods/services. I’ll be headed down in the week or two for more soil amendments since I live out on the prairie this alkaline Colorado dirt needs help and the composted cow and humus mix is just what the DR ordered.

And then treated horribly by the Manager.I wasnt going to drop TMI, wanted to put out a notice that this establishment has become unprofessional.Being unprofessional RTR has replied to my review and pointed out they feel I was using foul language, which was one slip of one curse word as I left, after I payed.The associate at the front desk treated me like a criminal and was extremely rude and down talking to me.I told the front desk i have about 4 yards branches in the trailer outside the window.New employee is ringing me up with out checking and making a final determination.I dont set RTRs price or run the register?Lift your head 6 and take a peek out of your window, Im not david blaine over here trying to do magic tricks with my dump load, its not a secret?2nd older associate finally gets up as Im now paying and looks at my load, she sighs and painfully raises from her seat as if it were an inconvenience.And would that load fit in your truck bed? she says to me very sarcastically.No, that is why its in my trailerShe says well then its an extra yard, no measurement, she doesnt walk outside.And she says it with rude attitude.All depends on the mood employees are in, if they know you, if they like you.Pricing model is completely inconsistent on every single load.I pay, no problem with that, but dont be treating me like a punk kid.I repeat to her what she said to me and shake my head in disbelief, then she gets riled up and starts getting upset and defending how she is speaking to me, now Im angry.As I left I told them I dont get f***d with by other facilities like I do at RTRI walk to my truck, get in and a male associate comes charging out like he wants to fight me, charges up to my passenger window taps on the glass.I get out and ask whats going on now?He yells in my face, are you the one that said that?Yes I am, Im upset because your front desk clerk is being unprofesional and treating me like a liar and a criminal.He says Good and we dont need your business here so dont come backI pull around, park, get my cash back, ok poppy give me my money back as i leave he shouts dont come back so that the now full office can all hear him sounding tough.I say your a D***.The truth is they dont need my business anymore, businesses grow and care less about individuals.It use to be different over here, this used to be a good place for locals.Ive walked in recently and heard the same female associate talking with another client joking about crack cocaine.I hear RTR drivers walk in cursing and complaining about clients theyve delivered to.Ive heard lead associates curse and talking shop talk trash about coworkers, Ive never said anything, no complaints.But I said i dont get f***with at other dumps and now im banned from returning.An F word that shouldnt have been said and only came out from being provoked by a bad attitude employee.You are allowed to refuse business in CO.Care and share used to be a food donation on Sat.Now, cash onlyInteresting how they keep tabs on those donations.If you really watch whats going on you have this guy rifling around through your truck and looking all through your stuff.Then says give me x amount of dollars and anything else goes to care and share.He then pulls out his cash wad and adds your cash to it.There is no tally system, he does not have a clicker or any means of allocating how much is for the drop and how much is for donation.and then hes off to the vehicle behind you and does the same thing.Think about it, donations are write offs, big time for businesses.This place charges you to dump material that they can turn into mulch in house and resale to our community.They have the cheapest prices because weve already payed them to make the mulch, with the dump fee.Black Forest Slash and Mulch program, go see what it looks like when a business cares about its community. These guys are awesome! Its only $5 to dump a whole trailer of branches and clippings. Better than that is how they went above and beyond for us. We dropped our car keys as we were unloading. They had been put to the top of the pile with the dozer. A very kind man helped my husband climb the pile and dig out our keys. Thanks so much!

I love this place. They are far superior to other sand, rock, gravel, mulch and soil places. They sell different types of soil for your yard and garden needs. On Saturdays you can dispose of your branches or boards by simply bringing a few can goods ( which they donate). Their staff is informative, helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this place over any of the other such places in town. As businesses of these type; they are a great asset to the Colorado Springs area.

A very useful place for every homeowner! Every year I drop off a hatchback-full of yard waste (branches, pine needles, and such) which they recycle into mulches. For a very low price you can purchase 1/2 yard (about 6 large tote containers) of mulch. Dirt cheap!

I went to dump a small trailer 8x4 of branches ( 2 cu yd) and was charged $20, which is the listed price. At $5 per cu yd, I thought maybe they would let me bring my second load ( 1.5 cu yd) and drop for free, or at a discount. I asked if I could get a discount, or Saturday rate on Friday, but they said no, and I would have to come back the next day. I do not understand why they wouldnt just let me dump the second load and include it. Considering I was under the total volume for the minimum price per load. I mean, its not like they were super busy and had too many people dumping at the time. I was willing to pay another $5 ($25 total) for 3.5 cu yd of branches. I will take the second load today, but I was disappointed in the inflexibility of this business.

I even found a 5% coupon on their website that covered most of the taxes.They have an are where you can see a sample of all products before purchasing.I was able to get delivery set for a time that worked well for me.I will finish this post after the product is delivered.

Just dropped a Christmas tree

I wanted to do my purchase up front for my order but was told I would have to pay each load. I needed 8 yards of rock. Picked up 3 on my first trip and when I returned they told me they sold out. I looked across the yard and there was at least what I needed in the bay but that was sold between my loads. It worked out better for me because I drove to Pioneer and got what I needed and saved money. I don’t understand why I couldn’t pay for my order up front and pick it up in multiple trips.

Rocky Top was great. They answered our questions, had good prices (plus, we were able to use a discount we got in the mail), and happily accommodated when I had to reschedule the delivery of the product. The delivery driver, Tim, was friendly, informative, and let my toddler be up close to look at the truck-which made my little lads day!

It was great when I called they informed me that if you take in some can goods on Saturday their was no charge for dumping my branches. The yard was very clean and the employees were very helpful.

Rocky Top is a great company with quality people working there. The employees are honest and kind. They have excellent product at the best prices around. Ive used them the last two years and will use them again and again.

BLUF is that you get what you asked for, I’d aim on the side of caution to order more then you think you might have measured correctly. 1 cubic yard is 1.3 tons, keep that in mind. The fokes there were helpful and straight forward, they can calculate it for you if you need. The only thing that I had a grip about is they called me 30 min before my window ended and I actually missed that call in which pushed the time frame, however, they tossed me next in cue. Overall, I’m satisfied and will be ordering more since I was a tad short on what I was expecting.

This helps clean up the environment, and feed hungry families! That kind of cooperative partnership is all too rare in todays world. After I moved into my new house, I needed a place to go with A LOT of yard waste - Rocky Top saved the day (actually, they saved several days...) and it felt good - not only to clean up the yard, but to help other less fortunate families. My experience with Rocky Top was a unique one- Im a firm believer in the theory that you can tell more about a company when things go wrong than when they go well. The rocks we ordered showed up horribly filthy, but Jared went WAY above and beyond what was expected to make things right. I Went to drop off some roots, branches and the left over pine needles form cleaning up my yard this fine Saturday morning.I looked up tree disposal online and found that rockytop offers on there website that they take all of the above listed material for a donation of non perishable items.The older gentleman that was taking the donations gladly accepted my donation then asked me to go inside and pay the $10 for my load. Unknowingly I did so and dropped off my load of branches and pine needles.Afterwards, I find out that I wouldnt have had to pay for the load because of the donation.
