Love City Art! They usually have what I need - great selection of great quality supplies … paint, canvas (unrolled & stretched), beautiful handmade papers for collaging or wrapping, and so much more. But best is the excellent customer service. Randy can answer questions, comes up with solutions or ideas I wouldn’t have thought of, and chat about arts in Columbia. Store is located in the art gallery, it’s always fun to see what’s showing when you go to shop. I think others are highlighting the gallery, so I wanted to focus on the store. Can also take great art classes at City Art. All around treasure.

Absolutely beautiful collection of Art, magical aesthetic inside and a great, well stocked art supplies store on the bottom level. Hands down, best in Columbia. There are two levels of art galleries above the store. Love this place. The owners are super nice.

Great gallery, rentable venue space and superior art supply store in the basement. The art supply store is the first big professional art store with quality art supplies I have ever been to as a young adult and frequent this shop for advice on the material itself and professional touches like how to pack fine art to ship and how to prepare surfaces for different treatments. This store is a wealth of knowledge and expertise. I am grateful it exists a mere hour from where I live. THANKS YALL!

They are stocked well and I can always find what I need.A bonus is the beautiful architecture and art gallery both down-and upstairs,Id love to see this venue thrive - its a gem and so convenient - free parking too!.

The art community is truly fortunate to have access to City Art. Their supply store is top notch as is their knowledgeable and helpful staff. While you are there, walk into the galleries to view a wonderful selection of two and three-D art. Go upstairs too. There is lots more artwork and workshop space where you can learn about making art in a variety of mediums. They offer an online shopping experience too!

Beautiful gallery WITH art supplies in the lower level (extra bonus!). I was there with three friends and the owner gave us a guided tour, answered questions and invited us back when we were in the area again. Next time Im in Columbia, SC I plan to visit the gallery to see the art in person. In the meantime, Im enjoying their email updates.

My name is Gary Boggs this was myFirst time visiting this art store and gallery. Was greeted buy the most friendly and knowledgeable man ( Randy Hanna) . He was very helpful in getting the things I needed. I was impressed with the oil paint inventory,brush selection and canvas selection. The prices were awesome. I will be shopping here for my painting supplies from now on I love this store and the atmosphere. I will most definitely be a repeat customer and I recommend this store to everyone, five stars in my opinion.

We had a wonderful time at City Art. The staff was very accommodating.The bathrooms were beautifully furnished and clean. I danced barefooted some and my feet did not get dirty.It was nice that there were interesting and beautiful works of art on the wall that stimulated conversation and added to the decorations.The space was elegant and not a huge hall. There were places to explore upstairs and downstairs.It was reasonable to rent and I would do it again.

This is a beautiful gallery with a really nice variety of wonderful art. Wendy is great to work with. She’s a lovely person, and her customer service is outstanding - way beyond any expectations. I would rate her and the gallery 10 stars if that was an option. I highly recommend that you plan a visit even if you’re not in the market for art.

My company recently did a video/photo shoot using this space and it was fantastic. There’s also a gallery and robust art supply store downstairs . I thoroughly recommend for art lovers and anyone that needs a unique space for weddings, etc.

What a great art store. First time in there and I’ve lived here for over 10 years. I’ll be back for sure, love to shop local. Gentlemen behind the counter is a bit brash, I would have liked a greeting coming in or a goodbye leaving. All in all a great art store that reminds me of back home.

I shop here for specialty paper and also when I need to get more water color paint. Do usually have interesting things in the employees are very helpful much better than Michaels or Hobby Lobby if you are professional artist or trying to be a professional artist. Its the next best thing to artist and Craftsman supply, but the closest one to Columbia is in Charleston.

City Art was a wonderful venue for hosting a wedding reception for my girlfriends daughter recently. The staff were professional, courteous, very accomodating of our needs, and were very helpful with suggesting how and where to set up various stations for drinks, food and flowers. The art work was interesting and inviting. They ensured that everything ran smoothly all evening. Hard to convey just how pleased we were with the whole experience.

My daughter had her wedding reception at City Art in June. It was a wonderful place! The setting is interesting and makes wonderful pictures. The black tablecloths, burlap runners and lanterns were perfect with the white lights, globe lights and exposed brick. There was space for the band, dancing, and tables downstairs and interesting art upstairs as well. I would definitely recommend this venue.

City Art is a nice place to go to see a small local art gallery or shop at a locally owned art supply store. I always have a great experience there.

A must visit for any artist or art lover. If they dont have what you need, Randy will get it for you. He also gives great advice if youre not sure what you need exactly. The gallery upstairs has a wide variety of intriguing pieces from local artists. I could spend a whole day between the gallery and the shop. They offer a 25% student discount, though Im not sure if it applies to non-local schools. Even without, his prices are comparable to chain art supply stores, often less, and the selection is far more extensive.

City Art Is the best art store anywhere close to here (as far as I know this is the only fine arts supply shop in the greater Columbia area - don’t even think about the big box stores, they don’t have nearly the selection City Art does). Randy Hanna is wonderfully helpful, knowledgeable, nice and he is always ready to help brainstorm or advise on any art-related question or issue you need assistance with. I’ve been going here for probably 18 years or more and I’ve never been let down.It is also conveniently located in the Vista area of downtown, just off Gervais street.

A great building makes this a perfect multi level setting for artists and their art works.

The pieces they have here are awesome! I hope to visit again during my next visit to Columbia.

Great family owned business with all art supplies one could need

My fiancé inquired about using the space for a wedding. The older lady who was at the venue was very rude, intrusive, and have no social skills when it came to dealing with another person. Asking questions that had nothing to do with the information we were seeking, she was short and acted like it was bothersome that we even asked.

I went to the art store and it was fantastic! One of the co owners talked to me while I shopped and told me a little history about the store. I really recommend

City Art is incredible! I had my wedding ceremony and reception there! It was absolutely beautiful, perfectly intimate, and so much fun! All of my guest are still talking about it! Wendy was very professional, knowledgable of the space giving great advice, accommodating, and prompt with replying to emails and phone calls! I would 100% recommend City Art to anyone looking to have a truly magical evening that people will never forget!For logistics: I had 200 people, 5 food stations, 2 bars, a band, 10 standing cocktail tables, 6 tables for seating, and a few miscellaneous tables for the cake, presents, ect. And there was plenty of room! The space is much bigger than it looks with nothing in it!

Art supplies are mediocre. got a few things I needed but the man who runs the art shop is rude. first, he didnt acknowledge that I walked in the store, and as a small business owner going to another small business, this makes a big difference. second, he sat and played on his computer instead of asking if I needed help. third, he didnt get up for a good five minutes from his computer or even look in my direction when I was waiting to check out at the counter. I asked him for suggestions on where to find something, and he completely cut me off to talk to another customer on the other side of the store, yelling to respond to him. no thank you for your business, have a good day, nothing. wasnt planning on coming to spend any money but just to browse, and ended up with a $50 purchase. $50 was wasted towards a small community business and I wouldnt recommend this place at all.
