Firstly, great people at reception. Nice ambiance and cleanly facility. However, I dropped my car off for a routine oil change, cabin/fuel filter replacement at 9:15am, it does not seem busy, and I am still here waiting at nearly 12pm! If I didn’t drive such a soccer mom car I would assume they took it for a joy ride to Charlotte and back, possibly even making an appearance in Ferris Bueler’s Day off, hopefully not accompanied by dirty mike and the boys. Who knows, maybe an oil change done right takes 3 hours, and maybe I enjoy pineapple on my pizza. WHO KNOWS?!

Do not get your car repaired here!You will not get a loner!!!!I went in to get my car fixed here and needed it by a certain time.after multiple calls I finally get while of someone who told me my car would not be ready in time but should be good the following day. Okay no problem, so I asked them to call me back the day of, and no response. I would have to call them to get any type of information about my car. Again when I finally got ahold of someone the only thing they could tell me is again my car would not be ready bc they’ve had a car hooked up to a machine for a month,A MONTH, that my car needed so it wouldn’t be fixed in time for my work trip. They wouldn’t give me a loner car to accommodate and just bring it back when I return. Save your self the time with the overpriced place and go somewhere else. I paid 1,000 worth of repairs to not get my car fixed.

Seth was a very good salesman at McDaniel’s Volkswagen. When my daughter and I got to the dealership we already knew what two cars she wanted to test drive. Before she did the test drive he asked what features she wanted and he told my daughter and I he would be real with us when it comes to getting the car of our choice. My daughter did a test drive on both cars but the second one she loved it. He ran the numbers came to us and told us what we were working with. We did a trade in which helped with money down. My daughter got the car she wanted because of God and Seth. The reason I gave him three stars because there was an issue with the driver’s seat recliner that happened the evening after we purchased the car. Seth said I had to go to Kia since the car is under warranty. Kia is booked out to November so I let Seth know and he said if they fixed it I will have to pay out of pocket. My daughter has to ride around with a broken seat until Kia can look at it. I don’t like that at all.

Dropped off our Passat on a Wednesday and told them the drivers door lock mechanism was messed up. When I called ahead two weeks prior to schedule this appointment I told them thats what was wrong. Saturday came with no call and no response to voicemails we left. We went in and the representative Ben told us we would have to bring it back and charged us around $135 to tell us the door lock mechanism wasnt working. He said his cell phone wasnt working but we called the desk at least four times and left voicemails. Not going back to McDaniels.

We had a terrific experience buying our new suv. After weeks of emails and calls to VW and reassurance that it had been sent, we called today to find out that it had JUST been sent 3 days ago. So bow our 10-14 day payoff is invalid and we will have to figure that out.

My husband and I had a terrible buying experience at this dealership. If you are coming from out of state to purchase a car at any McDaniels dealership, please note that they absolutely refuse to accept personal checks. We found the perfect car for our daughter, a 2018 Golf Sportwagen, and contacted the dealership to discuss purchase of the car. We were not comfortable purchasing unseen, so the next day we travelled over 4 hours from Tennessee to the dealership in South Carolina. Our salesman, Brandon, met us upon arrival and allowed us to test drive the car. After the test drive and checking everything out, we confirmed that we were ready to purchase. We planned to pay with a personal check, but after speaking with the sales manager, Brandon informed us that the dealership group does not accept personal checks from out of state. No exceptions. It basically up to us to figure out how to purchase the car with our own funds without writing a check. We spoke with our bank who recommended a wire transfer. The sales manager said that should work and should take 30 to 45 minutes for their bank to receive the funds. We had to transfer money to a family members account and have that person go to our local bank to wire the money to the dealership. After 1.5 hours of figuring out what to do, the wire was sent. We went to grab lunch while the car was being cleaned up and the dealership was waiting on the wire confirmations. Another 3+ hours passed and the wire transfer had still not been confirmed. We were getting mixed messages about what was going on from the sales manager and salesman. Finally, near the end of the day, the sales manager got our bank and our family member who sent the wire on the phone and we found out the wire had been cancelled due to an incorrect address for the receiving bank (which we had been provided to us by the dealership). At this point its after 4:00 pm Friday on a holiday weekend so it was not going to be possible to resend the wire until the following Tuesday. The sales manager called the owner, Mr. McDaniels, and... get this... after all the BS they had already put us through they still refused to accept our personal check!! McDaniels said we could fill out the loan paperwork as if we were financing the car, then send the wire transfer on Tuesday and he would void the loan paperwork. Well, sir, if you do not trust me to write a personal check, I am sure as heck not going to trust you enough to double pay for this car and leave it in your hands to fix it later. So at this point our options were to finance the car, walk away, or pay for it twice. We would have been more than happy to walk away, but due to circumstances, we really needed to purchase the car within the week so we chose to finance. And now I have to deal with the headache of paying off the loan, waiting for the title, etc... This whole situation would have been so easily avoided if the owner would have agreed to take our personal check. We had our bank on the phone 3 times during our long day and couldve easily had them verify the funds. Heck, I would have even showed them our account balances in our mobile app. So if you like being treated like a car thief, absolutely go to this dealer group. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the salesman, Brandon, sales manager and finance manager were doing the best they could under the circumstances. At the end of the day, they were as frustrated as we were with the situation, but their hands were tied by this super-strict policy set personally by the owner. If I were them, Id go work somewhere that trusts and values employees to make judgement calls and values customer service.

Im a long-time Audi/VW owner, but I had fallen in love with the 50th Anniversary Chevy Camaro after a test drive, and just HAD to have it.Long story short, Tiffany actually worked to help me get the Camaro. Yup, I kid ya not! Customer service at its finest right there. Seriously, who does that? That made such an impression on me. Having been in people/customer-centric jobs my entire life, and owning two businesses myself, I was truly impressed that she was helping me despite knowing she wasnt going to get anything for it, and that VW was losing a longtime customer to another brand.So impressed was I, by her assistance, knowledge, and kindness, that after two days of haggling and being jerked around by the Chevy dealership, I walked away WITHOUT that Camaro, and walked right into the VW dealership, grabbed Tiffany, and took a GTI for a test drive. Within a couple hours, paperwork was signed, and I now have a gorgeous, FAST, fun to drive 2018 GTI (6-speed manual, 2.0 Turbo) sitting in my garage. Ahhh- seriously this car makes me happier than the Camaro. And thats saying something, because we all know Camaros are really Autobots in disguise. And who doesnt want their car to be a Transformer? Im hoping the GTI surprises me one day...Thank you Tiffany, for top notch customer service, and for not judging me for my temporary lapse in sensibility when I mistakenly thought I wanted that Camaro.If you want a VW- ask for Tiffany. They completely ripped me off, said they did the work but in fact didnt and two days after getting my car repaired there and I got it back it broke back down 2 days later with more problems than it had before I took it to mcdaniels. Worst repair shop experience ever. The work should have been covered under warranty but they wouldnt cover it. They wanted me to pay over 6000$ for them to fix the warranty problems. Take your vw to midlands to get serviced. not mcdaniels.

Great customer service

I’ve had a relatively good experience here in the past, but not this time. I called in the middle of the day to see if I could come in for an oil change with no appointment and I was transferred to the service department. I received the woman with services’ voicemail and I left a message stating that I was wondering if they had availability for an oil change. She never called me back. When I went after work to go to see if I could get in, service closed early because they “weren’t busy”. I wish I had known or was called back. Online you can’t get an appointment for weeks. I’d go to VW downtown, they’re more reliable.

I had a great experience with McDaniels Volkswagen! I live in Charleston, so my Dad on his way from Savannah one day stopped to see a 2016 Tiguan for me. My Dad ending up meeting with Dean, who gave him the low down on the car while bonding over being pilots. I got the go from my Dad that it was worth going to see the car. I set up a meeting with Dean (who was very flexible with my out of town schedule) to see the car. I test drove the car the Thursday of that week. This was my first time buying a car on my own, so I was hesitant and overly cautious. Im in my late 20s and Dean is in his early 30s which was super helpful because he related to/knew what I was looking for. I ended up wanting to buy the Tiguan, so I called Dean to let him know. Its hard for me to take calls during the work day, so Dean and I ended up negotiating over text, which was super convenient. Long story short I ended up buying the Tiguan that Saturday and could not be happier. My parents met me in Columbia to help guide me in the purchasing process, and meshed with Dean so well! The whole experience was smooth, quick and stress free. Being my first time buying a car, I was terrified and excited at the same time. I had spoken with Chad via telephone prior to making the trip down and was able to work out my trade in and price of the new car before arriving.
