My SUV broke down in Orangeburg, SC in July (blown engine, overheating, etc). My insurances roadside assistance initially had it towed to some podunk mechanic shop that basically was limited on staff and what they could do. So I had it towed again, this time to AAA in Columbia.I just got it back yesterday, 3 and a half months later-- that sounds bad, but hear me out. It was because my extended warranty company was a hot mess. AAA, on the other hand, has been nothing short of gracious and professional. Jeff is a PHENOMENAL manager! Throughout the duration of this nightmare ordeal, hes been communicative and completely transparent, keeping me updated on an almost weekly basis. He went to bat for me like no other, especially after Hyundai goofed and canceled the order he placed for my new engine. I cant thank him enough for his and his teams hard work to get this fixed (Nick too!) and I will highly recommend this location to anyone who needs their vehicle serviced if and when theyre in Columbia, so long as Jeff is there.
Ive been going here for years, but recently have been less impressed with the overall experience. Feels like I pay above and beyond prices, but get bare minimum service. Last time, the link to check my vehicle inspection report wasnt even working so I had to get a verbal review of all the things that had been checked and what they all meant. I will be looking around for an independent mechanic who is hungrier for my business and deserves my hard-earned money.Not a bad experience, but they just dont seem to be trying hard anymore.

I went into this location for an appointment because I had a warranty on my battery. I had just left from getting my battery and alternator tested when AAA told me but I had to leave it to make a charge it. When I came back to pick up my car, Jeff told me that there was nothing wrong with my battery but, it was my alternator. If he wasn’t rude to me, I would have gotten it done there. Instead I took my car an hour away to my town. I paid $600 to get the alternator replaced as he advised. I got in my car to crank it and battery still is the issue. I take it to get tested again and gave a warning battery light. I drive straight to AAA where a different associate helped me (Jeff was on the phone) and I tell him the issue..he says to me so, you came to buy a battery..?? Now your warranty is void since the alternator was replaced!!!🤬 I do NOT recommended this place and their lack of customer service.
First of all, my entire experience with AAA was very positive. The guys at 4526 Forest Drive were Angels! Starting with Nick actually calling me to get a history of my 2004 Honda Civic. I didn’t expect that! I had just experienced a death defying situation with my rusty brake lines and faulty steering. The car was going to be too expensive for me to repair. I was able to get another car and the guys at AAACar Care continued to be patient, helpful, and empathetic. I appreciate you all so much for being there for me through this!
I scheduled an oil change for today 7/10/21 at 0830 at the Forest Dive branch. As soon as I entered, the up-selling begin! From the membership, to wipers, cabin filters, etc. I informed the guy, I only needed an oil change and tire rotation. I reminded him AGAIN that I needed to be in the upstate soon so please hurry. I could see my car in the air for almost an hour at this point. When I wouldn’t buy any other products from him, suddenly my oil plug is broken. He can’t replace it so he needs to replace the whole pan for $700!!!! I informed him I do not have that kind of money and I had somewhere to be. He stuck to his story. I told my my car has an extended warranty and I can have it fixed for $100. He called me a liar. I became upset and told him not to touch my car further as I will be having it towed on Monday to my shop. He did call me an Uber. I am stuck at home with NO car and no way to go!!!! I had a family event I missed because of this. I feel he was lying and should have at least rented me a car. I’ll never be back nor recommend AAA car care!
Had my car towed here on Monday afternoon. On Tuesday morning they sent me information on what they suggested fixing. After quick repairs, I had the keys back on Tuesday afternoon. Timely communication and quick repairs.
Quality work and you cant beat the warranty for the repair work for members....2 years 24,000 miles! Not a quick lube joint like you see everywhere else...its an actual repair and diagnostic facility for all makes and models!
My daughter is a student at USC. Her brakes failed and she pulled over in a parking lot. She called AAA towing and we had the car towed to this AAA. Danny helped us and had his men look at the car within 30 minutes. He quoted me a price to fix them and I said go ahead and fix it. When the car was fixed, Danny called me and said the total was less than what he quoted me! WOW! I cant say enough about Danny and his crew at AAA. If you want honest work at a fair price I highly recommend this AAA location. If you live out of town and have a student at Carolina, I would highly recommend to have your students car serviced at this AAA. JOB WELL DONE!!!!!!

I’ve been a AAA member for over 20 years. Showed up at 8:30 to meet with a travel representative. Stood there for 15 min, no one showed up to help. One person from the repair side said someone was supposed to be there but they hadn’t shown up for work yet. I guess they don’t need my business....
I was refused service of an oil change, because I was told that unless I purchased 4 tires for over $800.00, AAA would not change my oil. I informed the service agent, that I hand no money at this time for that. He returned the keys to my car, with a coupon for tire purchase without an oil change

Came in with friend to get international license and staff treated us like we were long-time friends. Jessica and Abigail were really helpful and extremely knowledgeable about international travel, including currency (unfortunately, I recently exchanged at a bank which cost me a lot more than AAA charges). Never going back here again was charged $358 for a oil change and a diagnostic on my a/c which after doing the diagnostic I was told they would have to do a second diagnostic on my a/c just to tell me why the air wasn’t getting cold. So I paid $140 for the 1st diagnostic and then was charged $130 for the 2nd diagnostic and I’m a AAA member but i won’t be renewing that after it expires

Do not take your car here i brought my bmw here with no problems at all got a oil change made it down the street my car is shaking and making a loud whistling noise brought it back the manger told me they put the wrong oil in it and drained it and they not taking anything responsibility for it Jeff the manager clearly said they put the wrong oil in it have him on tape saying it waiting to Monday to hear back from HQ

Was stranded with a flat tire. Went in on Saturday at 2:00pm and asked for a plug and patch. Was told it may be until Monday before they can get to it. AAA is usually know for getting you back on the road especially for something as simple as a plug and patch.

Super good customer service and very efficient. They prefer if you call them directly instead of the corporate office just to keep things more streamlined. Every car that goes in gets a full diagnostic check that they text you a report for. The test is convenient to see what is actually broken in a simple, easy to understand format. Would recommend for any work you need on a vehicle.

I arrived unannounced and needed an oil change on a Saturday. At first they said they were booked solid, but could get to it by four. I told them I did not have the ability drop it off and wait three hours and went to leave. Danny, one of the managers, came out to my car and personally brought me back in and did the oil change himself. Wow! You don’t see that very often. During my wait, I got pictures of the areas that needed to be addressed so I could see what Danny was seeing. That helped me in my decision on getting items fixed. By the time I left, I was already setting up my appointment to have new tires and my door fixed on my 08 Dodge. No pressure or sales pitches, but if the customer service is this good, I want to throw business there way.For those that had questionable reviews of this place, these three guys they have in there: Dave, Danny and Tobey are all new and looking to improve this location. Yes, I did question them about the reviews and they explained that they are all a new and would be making great improvements on the selection of services and customer service. They did for me. Found my new routine maintenance and tire location.
Even with cars surrounding the building when I took my car in. My problems were taken care of in record time. You have the best of everything. I love the way they explain what you need done now and what to look out for. Especially the concern for my safety. I have been a member for 20 years and not one complaint. Customer service is just awesome. David and Barry are jewels #1 employees they make you feel like family every time I walk in the door. Now thats customer service. Thank you for all that you do.

Did not appreciate being pressured by Danny Bagwell, who informed me the air and engine cabin filters needed to be replace(was correct), followed by windshield wipers(also correct). The issue I had, I informed him I had ordered the parts and replace them myself. He then informed me they did it for free and I informed him nothing was free and they added the cost to the actual product replaced. Ladies, watch YouTube and talk with your male friends who work on their cars, easy to change out and will save you money 💰
The manager at this location was a total Douche Bag, I am a Triple A member and he was short and rude. I was charged for double diagnostics after noting I only needed reconnections. Insisted on being rude and not applying my 10% off discount for services. Ill never refer family or friends to get maintaince done at a Triple A Too expensive with poor Customer Service.
I came in to have my car looked at because it was stalling randomly. They ran a lot of diagnostics and charged me for them, with no replacement parts or anything. I took the car somewhere else and they said the problem was that there was no oil in the car. I’m truly baffled at how they could let me drive my car off the property with no oil in it. Very basic thing to catch and fix.
Have been going to AAA for number of years. I have always gotten excellent service both in terms of car care and travel arrangements. Have recommended AAA to a number friends, and all have had the same experience. I think the Forest Acres is unique...David at the front desk is always welcoming and treats you like family and always takes care of you. Kudos to David on his customer service.

Made an appointment for an oil change. They started work at the appointed time and did a thorough, professional job at a good price. They are my go to auto service shop.
I was on the road had tire trouble. I needed a new tire. and found the AAA . The individual asked me what size tire I had and before I could tell him he asked me where my vehicle was so we went outside he told me that we probably didnt have that size tire. He determined that the tire that I wanted replaced was flat as if I didnt already know that. Then he told me they didnt have that tire again. Not helpful at all.
I had a great experience at AAA today came in to book flights to Japan and I was early for my appointment. My agent was ready and seen me early. She was sooo nice, helpful, answered all my questions, and really made me feel comfortable about booking my flights. I definitely will be returning back for future bookings.

I live in Charleston SC and traveled to Columbia SC on Saturday, 10/12/19. At my 1st stop in Columbia my car would not start and I knew that it was not the battery (I had reason to believe that the starter had gone bad). I called AAA to get towed. It took the AAA tow truck approximately 2 1/2 hours to get to me. They towed my car to the Forest Acres AAA service center which was approx. 1 mile away. By the time we got to AAA, they had closed 15 min. prior. Being that the next day was Sunday, I was stuck in Columbia with the hope that they could repair it on Monday. This is not the reason for my bad review...... Thinking that it was the starter in my car that had to be replaced (I drive a 2007 Lexus), I did a little research and found out that it should cost in the $450-$500 range. On Monday after AAA diagnosed my car and told me that it WAS the starter, they quoted me an estimate of $700+, but told me that I could save $50 if I opted for a remanufactured starter (which I did). I told the manager that I had already researched what the cost should be, approx $500 tops, but he offered no help at that point. While my car was being repaired, I called the Lexus of Charleston repair center...who normally services my car...and asked what THEY would charge to replace the starter in my vehicle. They quoted me $529 total....(parts, labor, tax, etc). This was the Lexus dealership!! I then provided the quote to the AAA manager. He said that he could not use it, but he did call the Lexus dealership in Columbia. I dont know what the Columbia dealership told him, but he lowered my AAA bill to $559. My point is......I absolutely feel that AAA tried to take advantage of me. They knew I was from out of town, could not take my car anywhere else because it wouldnt run without the repair, and tried to charge me nearly $200 more than the Lexus dealership would have.
Great customer service! Horrible in regards to fixing cars...left paying a lot of money for my car to be fixed and left with more issues than I came to get fixed. Had to take it back the next week since the original problem they fixed was not a true fixture. Definitely wasted my money, but it was my fault. Do not and I repeat do not take your car there for anything but an oil change.

DO NOT COME HERE!!! Would give 0 stars. Extremely crooked company. They left a tray inside my car next to the starter without screwing in the last bolt for the job they were doing. Over charged me by 200$ for a job I didn’t approve and instead called my father who does not own or pay for the car, to pay for it. Had to take to another company to fix and they also found that my oil change was not done correctly. I did not approve them to “diagnose” my car but they Charged 40$ for a “diagnostic” and didn’t even tell me everything that was wrong with my car or fix it and you can get your car “diagnosed” for FREE at any auto parts store. The manager was extremely rude. Will not Ever go back to a Triple A company anywhere. DO NOT COME HERE
The service represenatives were really nice and kept me informed during my car repairs. The service was faster than tge dealership would have been with the same quality service. I would have rated higher but it took a little longer for the parts to come in for my repair which delayed me repairs by 2 days. I will be going back for oil changes and other preventative maintenance when I cant schedule appointments at my local dealership. Thanks guys!

Excellent service! The staff was already onsite when I went for Early Bird drop off and I was invited inside to avoid the heat while I waited on my ride. I received phone calls with info about my repairs and called promptly when my vehicle was fixed and ready to roll. I would definitely recommend this location for your car care needs!

1.0 star rating 8/5/2016Used to praise this place highly but something has changed. Rex was the counterman and in my opinion is more of a used car salesman. He talks fast, pressures you to follow his recommendations and documents things he did not discuss. You would be better off avoiding his help. Think he works at a different AAA now. They left my vehicle unlocked on the lot for days. Why, THEY LOST MY KEYS! They did not tell me this for days. They did no repair work on the vehicle for the first week they had it. Kept vehicle for 17 days. They did a poor job of calling me and keeping me informed of progress or lack of progress. I recommend you look elsewhere for car care needs. David is the only one there who seemed concerned and apologetic

Very fast service and Dave was a friendly, cheerful, helpful man. My boyfriend and I came in for a 9:15 appointment for an oil change and we just left at 9:48. The estimated time was about an hour but we were glad to see it come out in roughly half an hour! We popped in next door at Trader Joes and looked around while we waited and as soon as we came back, the car was done. Talk about amazing service!

I am a triple A member and had to take my vehicle in to have the battery checked. The battery is a AAA battery with a three year warranty and I purchased it about a year and a half ago. A couple of weeks ago the battery wouldnt hold a charge and had to be jumped a few times. The local garage tested the battery and told me it was bad and advised me to have it replaced.On Saturday, November 23, 2019 I drove from Winnsboro to Columbia in the rain to the AAA garage. I am not from this area and driving on the Interstate is always a nightmare.I explained to the man at the counter what was going on with my battery and showed him my receipt from the battery. He was really nice and told me the battery would be checked out. It took a couple of hours because the battery had to be charged up to be diagnosed and as it turned out, the battery was indeed bad and wasnt holding a charge. A brand new battery was installed at no charge to me.I want to say that everyone I spoke to at AAA was exceptionally nice, friendly and really showed southern hospitality. I am from central Florida and moved here in April of this year so I am not accustomed to people being so warm and friendly.While in the waiting room I met several other people around my age group and we had a nice time chatting with each other. This made the wait bearable for everyone in there.Thank you AAA for being so nice and taking care of my vehicle!!Update:Since getting the new battery, my vehicle refuses to start. Since last December I used up my AAA roadside service calls just getting my truck started and this year I used up two.I took my truck to the local garage here in town and the mechanic put the diagnostic machine on. He also checked the fuses and everything else he could to find out why my truck wont start without a jump. The diagnostic machine came up with no explanation. Could I have possibly gotten another bad battery from AAA? Possibly.Now with this virus pandemic I wont be taking my truck back to the AAA garage. I am 66 years old with a couple of health issues so being around people is not in my best interest right now.A couple of weeks ago I did some research on jump starters and ordered one from Amazon. It was little over $100 but what a life saver. This little jump starter is small enough to keep in the console of my truck. It has two battery cables that of course attaches to the truck battery and the end of the cable cord plugs into the charger. Within seconds I can start my truck. I cant continue calling Triple A for a jump start every time I need to go to the grocery store so this handy jump starter is great.I fear however that one of these days I wont be able to start my truck at all because of whatever is draining the battery.

Had four new tires placed and to go back the next day with a flat. Had to be towed back and AAA charged me for towing AGAIN. I was told I could have ru. over anything but TPMS light on prior to leaving the place on night before. NOT GOOD WORK
I was told by another auto/tire shop that I needed my rear brakes replaced and they wanted to charge me $459 for the service. Since this sounded high to me, I took it to AAA Forest Acres and Josh was excellent in helping me with my car needs. After a complete inspection, they found that my brakes did not need to be replaced, but that cleaning and adjusting them would extend the life of the brake parts. They saved me a ton of money and were prompt and courteous with their communication and explained exactly what my car needed. They spotted two filters that needed to be replaced and now my car is running great. Thanks AAA! If youre not a member, you should become one as you save 10% on labor. They make car maintenance easy!

You correctly diagnosed my transmission fluid leak as a cracked seal, and did not charge me either for putting my van up on the lift or adding enough fluid to get me to a transmission shop. Thank you so much! I will be visiting my daughter at Univ of So Carolina several times in the next few years, and you can bet youll see me if I have car trouble again.

I took car in for an oil change. I asked about a rattle up front under hood. AAA told me our Honda needed 2 New quick strut assemblies up front for a mere $1030.00.I took the car to reputable business/ mechanic very next morning. My mechanic said there was Zero wrong with struts: Who told you this BS ? he asked.There was a sway bar that needed to be replaced. Cost approximately 130.00. Took care of problem.I feel sorry for senior citizens/anyone who may go there and feel like they will urgently need to get the recommended repairs found by AAA and presented to them. Please be advised.

My daughter and step-son had their car towed here because it was overheating. She called me first to ask what to do. Since I had paid for her to have AAA Plus, I suggested she get it towed to avoid causing any engine damage. AAA recommended their own service center, well OK I guess. Before authorizing any work, I urged her to ask them exactly what tests they would do to confirm the engine would be OK, and especially I said to ask them to do a compression test among whatever others they recommend. (Past experience - I had a car that became worthless after overheating, and a compression test clearly showed why - but that is a different story!) She did request for them to do the compression test while I was on the phone with her, and they agreed.HOWEVER, they did not DO the compression test. Instead, they told her it needed just a new radiator, and they assured her no further testing was needed because they could tell that was the problem. Well guess what! After putting in the new radiator, they found out the car still had major problems (before she even paid and got the car back) and they THEN said the car DID have internal engine damage, guess what, they want to charge more $$$ for something ELSE that they could have known if they had done the testing they agreed to do! If we had known this, we never would have put any money into it. The car is very old. They refused to give her back the car, unless she paid for the new radiator, and we would have to go through an arduous legal battle to fight them for whatever value was left in her car. I dont know what we can do. Ive never heard of an automotive shop being so unprofessional.

These people are crooks. I have Triple AAA roadside assistance which is fantastic but this place will try to take you for every penny you have. Got my car towed as a precaution since my oil light was on and they told me I would need a completely new engine.... They said labor would take 18 hours and would cost about 5 grand! Triple AAA will try and convince you to take your car here for a discount if you are already a member but dont do it. Get a second opinion.
Took them from wednesday to monday for them to stop my car alarm from going off. Had to call them 10 times just to get updates. Then, they overcharged. Sound like nice guys but don’t be fooled. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

I brought my Dodge car in for a gear shift problem and the Car Care person, Danny, was able to find out it was a recall problem and helped me get my car to the Dodge dealership to be fixed by them..I appreciated his assistance and will visit them again when I need something else done..
Tried to talk to a person ab an issue with my battery and the service customer dept would not talk to me over the phone. They told customer service to tell me if I came in they would help me. At the time I had a screaming toddler in the car and if I turned off my car it would not start so I just wanted to know if they had a battery and could someone change it for me. I have AAA but I will never use the service center again. So I went to autozone and they looked up the battery for me and told me they could change it without me having to come in for that info. Sad I pay for AAA service and had a better experience at an autozone. SAD.
Very expensive. They do not have the technology know how to do what is correct for your vehicle. Charged me over $500 for a starter. Then said I needed an ignition switch for an extra $700. Had my car towed to another shop, where they told me I needed a new battery. Simple. $150. Wow
