Very cute cafe. The cashier was this very sweet older woman who was excited to tell me all about the place and their coffee. She said they roast their own coffee beans and make their own baked goods. They also have bagels and I think I saw a bagel sandwich. I just got a cold brew coffee with macadamia nut syrup and soy milk. I was very happy to find out they had soy milk and almond milk. I’ll be back 🤗

Whenever me and my family visit corpus we always make sure to stop here, great food and omg the sugar free mandarin cake is to die for !!!!! Also got lots of good coffee drink choices

Went in since I was in the area. Ordered a regular sized cafe latte. Barista started to make my drink. Then another woman told me the price. I handed them my debit card and was told that it’s a cash only establishment and that they have an atm to withdraw cash. I said no never mind then. (I don’t want to spend extra money on atm fees)I walked away towards half price books and the lady spoke up loudly: “sir you can bring us cash back for the drink” I just ignored and kept walking but don’t try to embarrass me in front of other customers because I don’t have cash on hand.It’s fine that you’re a cash only establishment but Maybe you should say up front before making a drink that it’s cash only.Why cash only? Only report so much income to IRS? Just a thought…

I love to try new coffee places and Im glad I stopped here. The coffee was amazing and the pecan waffles were on point.

A lovely coffee shop connected to a book store.We were looking around at the coffee options in Corpus when this one caught our eye. We werent expecting too much but they delivered great.My wife got one of their Vietnamese coffees and they were able to make me a milk tea (even though its not on the menu, had to tell them what I wanted in it).The drinks were exactly what we were wanting. The staff there was super friendly and took a minute to talk with us about coffee and the area. Unfortunately I didnt try any of the baked goods. I really should have. Everything looked amazing.The cutest part of the inside was the chair seats that were covered with recycled coffee sacks (and plastic to keep them from being rough). There are also lots of pictures on the wall. I assume they are customers who have come by and tacked one on.Parking wasnt an issue, its in a large area. Cleanliness was kept up well.In summary, a nice place to go visit and around downtown so its convenient as well. Theyre super friendly and have great drinks.One down side is its cash only, but you should always carry a little cash on you anyway.

Best coffee shop around! The coffee is always fresh, no matter what time of the day or night we go by. It’s always hot, fresh and delicious! Sweet treats are always fresh and delicious also, just be mindful that they sell out of their baked goodies from time to time. I wish I had pictures to share with my review but we always gobble everything up before anyone thinks about taking pics, lol.

I always end up getting the Buzz Wiser every time. The employees are friendly. Never seen the place a mess. Prices are easy on the wallet. My favorite place when it gets cold.

Had the Foggy Tea (Earl Grey, hot), and tried the Italian Cream Cake. Both were excellent! The Italian Cream Cake is very similar to the much-beloved Parkland Hospital recipe, but the cake is a bit richer in flavor and has a bit more cream cheese frosting in the mix.

Always fresh coffee! Try the Turkish delight....its delightful! And pick up a book or two at half priced books while youre there.

The hot coffee is delicious, and the service was great! Way better than Starbucks, and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend!

I’ve been coming here for years. It’s one of those places that, you must go by when in CC. Local to the core and a favorite by locals as well. The only downside: It’s cash only. There’s an ATM inside though. Plus, the friendliness of the staff, the great service and the homemade pastries, more than make up for it. It’s definitely an authentic coffee shop. They roast coffee as well, so you can buy some for home/office. You could grab a book from next door at Half Price and come on by to Cafe Calypso and enjoy some coffee w/a good read.

Coffee was AMAZING and paired with the sweetest owners. You need to stop here! Not to mention the cookies were delicious as well! 10/10 in my book :)

This gem is a Corpus Christi treasure. The ABSOLUTE best coffee in town. They roast their own coffee beans in store. Why buy chain when local is even better?

I think they have the best coffee in CC.Im new to CC and I was looking for a small coffee shop and my sister recommended this place to me, and its now my favorite place to get coffee. The owner is nice, and they are always friendly to me whenever I come in. Plus theres a bookstore next door which is awesome. Just make sure you bring cash because they dont accept cards. I forget all the time, but they do have an ATM inside as well just in case. Also, their vegetarian quiche is quite yummy too!

Saw sign on door saying masks required. Will get my coffee elsewhere now.

Ordered Lg Buzzzilla & Chai Latte ☕Both flavors were off and Buzzzilla tasted burnt no sweet flavors really roasted and not what I expected but the setup is 👌The Fruit 🍇 🍓🍰Toast was warm and 👍This place is also located in a book store and the aroma is very nice.

Coffee shops of this multitude are scarce in number. This was a genuine shop that serves a variety of coffee. I enjoyed being able to talk about the many roast as I made my decision with confidence.

I was asking questions about some of their coffee. The girl behind the counter seemed reluctant to answer my questions. She was being very difficult and she made feel unwelcomed.I am not a big coffee drinker which is why I was asking questions. I wouldnt recommend this place. I had a much more pleasant experience at half price books.Youre better off going to McDonalds.

Was browsing at Half Price Books and decided to check out Cafe Calypso. I got their large coffee of the day (coconut flavored) and big brownie for under $5. They are cash only, but there is an ATM inside. Better yet she gave me my order and told me to pay for it later.

I like here so much with Ethiopia coffee & suger free mandarin orange pineapple cake .... amazing live music.

The best part about this location is that there is a half price book store connected to this shop. The coffee is delicious and pretty good. Staff is friendly and a delight to have a conversation with. Enjoyed every moment of relaxing and reading comics while sipping on some tea.

First time here didn’t know what to order but the barista was more than helpful in deciding. Asked me a couple of questions regarding my coffee preferences and it appeared the most delicious coffee creation they call Toasted Marshmallow hot coffee. It was sweet but strong. I am one to travel for great coffee and go the length for a good one including having to carry cash ( they don’t take cards) because this place makes it worth it. Give it a try guys... it won’t disappoint

They can improve on their cookies, if they make them a little bigger and more spices in them

Locally roasted coffee, freshly made, a few baked goods. You can get a fresh cup or buy it by the pound. Its a good place to sit and enjoy a cup and read for a bit. Make note, they do not accept card payments, cash only. There is an ATM in the store.

The staff here is super friendly, coffee is very fresh and the vibe is welcoming. Their baked goods are all made in house (yay, not shipped frozen!) and thats super amazing to me. They seem to really care about their work and product provided. Ive not had any complaints about my coffee yet and Im a picky coffee drinker. Really amazing that they roast their own beans too!Good people, good quality, local and way more than fair prices.

This Half Price Books has an awesome coffee shop! The food is amazing, thd variety of coffee is mind blowing. It is busy and vibrant. The artwork is very colorful. A very inviting atmosphere. They even have sidwalk cafe tables. Seating indoors has booths and tables.

Cafe Calypso is a local coffee shop. They roast their own coffee and feature a couple of varieties daily. They seem to have a lot of regulars, mostly older adults. It is a small, intimate cafe that also offers a degree of privacy if thats what you prefer. Also, the are a few outdoor tables for nicer days.

They have a sugar free cake made with wheat flour that is absolutely delicious. Its moist, and full of flavor, you wont even know its sugar free. Worth trying, you wont be sorry.

This is always an excellent spot for amazing brews from many different locales and origins. The staff and owners take pride in their goods and in offering awesome customer service. Coffee is fantastic. Best in Corpus! I drive out of my way to get a cafe caramel whenever Im in town. Their pastries are very good too. I absolutely love the atmosphere, would have given 5 stars but the cash only thing is kind of a bummer. Certainly doesnt deter me from coming, though!! I highly recommend, just remember to bring cash :)

One of my favorite places to go and relax. Great coffee, cakes, cookies, chicken salad and more. On Friday and Saturday nights they have live music. The Baristas are really friendly and its like one big family. I highly recommend Cafe calypso.

It feels like a small town cafe. The people are amazing, as is the food. Love to meet people here and grab something sweet to pair with my hot or cold coffee.

I love this place! I been coming here for a year now and I dont have a single complaint. The owner of the store is a very nice woman who really loves what she does. She makes the best Vietnamese late Ive ever had too! Its nice to come here whether Im getting something to go or staying to chill.

Awesome Vietnamese coffee. Truly delicious and strong. 4 stars because they do not take credit cards and most people dont carry cash anymore. I only had cash because I had made a return and received cash back. Still if you have cash, their coffee blows Starbucks away.

Love the coffee it is AWESOME, But the bearded gentleman with short dark black hair, and beard that works with the owner in the morning. Is rude. I met my friend there to go over some business, I first needed to finish my cigarette before entering. So my friend sees me outside and joins me for a 5 minute talk. Right before I could put my smoke out, this guy comes out and asks if one of our items were on the table. We would need to move them, so others could sit. I kindly told him that I was just having a smoke and be right back to what we were meeting for. Before I could finish saying my peace. He had already turned back around and closed the door. Customer service... Way Off.

Coffee is excellent and best in Corpus Christi. Unique variety of coffee, buzzwiezer and Turkish delights are great. Vietnamese coffee is also very good and different from the typical menu of specialty drinks. Owners are great and staff is always on top of it!

The coffee was good, above average...but they dont take plastic. They do have a convenient ATM located in the store that charges $2.50. Myself, I use plastic not cash, while the coffee is great it is not convenient for me.

Update 2021: This place still holds up over time. This is the quintessential bookstore Cafe. The owner and employees are always smiling and friendly. It smells AMAZING as soon as you walk in. It just feels like someplace you want to sit down and hang out. This is not a third wave coffee shop, so dont expect fancy light roast coffee. It is a very good second wave coffee shop.2015: Best coffee in Corpus and super sweet and friendly staff. I started going here for the freshly roasted coffee beans, they are roasted on a weekly basis making for delicious bright flavors, they also have great specialty coffees and lattes. My current favorite are the Costa Rican beans, smooth with chocolaty notes, makes my mornings that much better :) Oh and its pretty affordable, nice atmosphere and even some outdoor tables (so I can take the dogs with as well).

First off the coffee is amazing, the male owner from my understanding is rude, non- customer friendly, and dose not like you to leave you bag at the table while you have ONE, just one Cigarette. When four, yes I said 4- Tables were open too anyone to sit. Sorry Sir, bad form, very, very bad form.

Its fine but they dont have decaf frappuccino like Starbucks. They have everything else and it tastes good.
