I brought in a wedding ring to determine if MJPM Inc. would be interested in purchasing it. The ostensible proprietor of the business, without even asking why I was there or what my goal was in visiting the business that day, gruffly just started examining and weighing the ring and then concluded that he could give me $172 for it. I said, Okay, $172 works for me. The proprietor then took the ring and brought back $72 in cash and gave it to me. I counted the cash before leaving, realizing that he gave me $100 below his quote offered only seconds ago. He had already disappeared out of sight, so I informed the woman working for him that he had said $172, not $72. She called back to him and then he returned, quickly handing the ring back to me while saying that he was only telling me what the gold weight value of the ring is. This entire exchange didnt make any sense. Why hear me assent to your quoted value, bring me cash yourself for the ring, walk away, and then only after Ive counted and spoken up that youve given me $100 less, decide to make up a story about only wanting to quote me a value for the gold in the ring?Either a) you were trying to steal from me, hoping that I would walk out of your business before counting the cash and then would not be able to get back in, as the door locks, and I wouldnt have a written receipt or b) youre agreeing to hand customers cash (wrong amounts at that) for their items while only meaning to inform them of values, indicating that youre extremely confused and shouldnt be conducting these transactions. Either way, no one should visit this business. This proprietor was very rude the entire time, even apart from this attempted theft or highly unprofessional behavior. Should you decide to dispute this account, there was another customer there at the time that witnessed the bizarre exchange and that I spoke to, so I would advise not responding with attempts at more deception.
Ive been in MJPM several times now and Michael is always pleasant to work with! They are a highly reputable precious metal dealer that are honest and trustworthy. I encourage you too call or set up an appointment with MJPM.
I had a great experience, Michael gave me above what I had expected . I looked up what an oz of gold was going for and he gave me above that. I have had a bad month and was happy that someone was so kind . My mom passed away and I just laid her to rest . So thanks for being so kind Michael and making my life a little better. I will definitely always do business with you.
As a professional who works in precious metals every day, I can honestly say that MJPM has never offered me anything but a square deal. The buyer and his staff are knowledgeable and polite, the location is always immaculate. Dont hesitate to do business here as they are likely the best youll find in this area.
Fantastic experience. Michael is extremely knowledgeable, affable and empathetic. He was able to assess and advise on a wide range of pieces. I will definitely return.
I noticed a number of negative reviews, but I had a good experience. I wanted to sell some scrap gold jewelry. I called and talked about getting an estimate and was treated very nicely. I later went in and they reviewed what I had and gave me an estimate. I took their offer for what seemed to be a reasonable price based on researching my other options before going in. A good experience all around.
The personal service at MJPM is EXCELLENT! Michael was very knowledgeable about all the coins that I have and he answered all my questions. I got all the money for my coins more than I expected. He is fair and honest. Looking forward to doing more business with MJPM. I highly recommend this company.
I love to shop Michaels Jewelers. in Corvallis. I have worked with Michael for many years now and purchased many gorgeous pieces, always at unbelievable prices. Michael and his employees have always been very helpful and extremely honest. I have taken pieces in to have him repair and the work was always excellent and on time. I have been there many times when other customers have come in and if Michael couldnt help them he would always suggest someone who could. He was always fair in his appraisals and would be forthcoming on the worth of an item. I have never seen anyone leave there upset. They may not have been happy to find out their item wasnt worth as much as they hoped but sometimes thats just how it goes. I highly recommend Michaels Jewelers or MJPM whether your buying jewelry or looking at gold, or silver bars or coins.
Paid cash...but totally ripped off and taken advantage of on gold and silver coins when I was down on my luck. Didnt even pay spot prices when the market was sickeningly low.Post script:Called on another occasion to ask if they were paying spot prices for silver. Respondent replied how many coins are you selling? Why is that pertinent? I replied 80 to 100 Peace Dollars, Walking Liberty halves, Morgan Silver Dollars and some Barbers. The person on the phone answered face value. Seriously? 50 cents to a dollar for silver coins? These people are crooks. I went to Albany Coin and Jewlry and was paid more than spot prices on some very nice collectible coins. I will never set foot in this shop again, nor will I recommend them to any of my coin collecting friends. Albany Coin and Jewelry has a much nicer selection of gold and silver collectible coins, and has a very friendly and knowledgeable owner. Avoid MJPM at all cost!
I have known the Michael Chambers of MJPM inc for nearly my entire life. My mother and I have both worked for him at some point in our lives and during that time he was extremely genuine with us. Beyond that I was able to see how he interacts with is customers/clients. He treats them extremely well and will go above and beyond to ensure they have a good experience. He set a great example for me professionally and personally!Through my relationship with him grew a passion of mine, collecting valuable coins. When I came into hard times and needed to sell some of my collection he gave me an extremely competitive price!
WARNING! Michaels Jewelers ripped us off. We went to purchase some precious metals and handed them several thousand dollars in cash for our order. However, the crooked lady who we handed the cash to deliberately dropped over 10 $100 bills behind the counter onto the floor (which was out of our sight) then claimed we didnt pay her enough cash. This is a typical scam which shady businesses use to rip off their customers. This is why you must always make sure the person who is handling your money always keeps your cash on TOP of the table so its visible at all times. Do not let them pick it up and move it back behind the counter or you may become another victim of this scam. The owner Michael was present and witnessed the scam unfold but he didnt do anything about it. Michael (the owner) and his employees are as crooked as it gets.We had no choice but to pay an additional $1,000+ in order to receive our Gold coins we ordered. We filed a police report with the Corvallis police department and they said they will watch for any more victims who may come forward. We highly recommend that you do NOT do business with Micheals in Corvallis. We dont want to see any more innocent people get ripped off by their cash scam.
I tried to purchased silver by mail at agreed spot price+ for day check received and was assured that the transaction was no problem. This was during a dramatically rising market a couple years ago. I never received the goods. Called them and they said they never received the check. This would be the first time in my life that mail didnt arrive. No letter was ever returned by postal service either.
My husband has always appreciated Mikes very personable attitude. In addition to being knowledgeable about gold and silver, he is always ready to engage his customers in friendly conversation. We have been very happy with our purchases!
We have done business with Michael Chambers for many years. We have sold jewelry, bought and sold gold and silver coins. He extremely knowledgeable about the product, current market value and has a nice selection. He is always curtious and we are treated with upmost respect. I would not consider working with anyone else.
Have dealt with MJPM for years. Honest and trust worthy.
Disappointing experience. I didnt even mind that the jewelry and coins i brought in werent worth much as i assumed so... What i minded was the owners curt and gruff commentary - off putting and rude. Several comments that could have been said more professionally - i left not selling the few items i could have simply because of the attitude. Hopefully this can be worked on so that others dont leave as i left feeling. Food for thought.
I have been doing business with Michael for over 25 years. I have always had excellent service and fair and honest transactions. There are always a couple of 1 raters in any group. They always have trouble where ever they go!!!!
Honest, friendly, gives you the straight skinny on buying or selling.
Ive dealt with Michael for close to 20 years now - he was a great selection of jewelry at way less than other stores charge. He has done custom items for me, ie a special pendant from a jade piece my father brought from Burma in WW2, ruby earrings from rubies I imported myself. We bought both our wedding rings from him and he did a great job customizing them. Hes done all my jewelry repair and cleaning and I wouldnt go anywhere else.Highly recommended.
Highly recommended: expert, fair, prompt, polite...what else can you ask for?
I shopped around town to see who pays the most for my gold jewelry, but no one beats MJPMs price. I highly recommend this company if you want the best price for your gold.
Extremely helpful, pleasant, knowledgeable, and great conversation. I really felt comfortable that we made a fair transaction, and will definitely return.
The service was very rude and he has lost my business.
