Very friendly/knowledgeable guitar techs and super reasonable prices, especially if you pay with cash. These guys have great attention to detail, really know their stuff, and will not nickel and dime you. When I picked up my guitar, Kaleb also walked me through tons of really useful maintenance tips. The shop has a welcoming atmosphere and the techs are passionate about what they do. I would highly recommend this place.

Awesome friendly people. They love what they do and are passionate about instruments. Great prices on new stuff and unique used items. Best place to go for guitar maintenance. I went to check out their tagima budget models and they play and look great. A hidden gem of value. Also bought a used acoustic and they were all about optimizing its set up before I even tried it out. Plenty of reasonably priced cases too. Just ask, they probably have one for your homeless instrument. They also sell on consignment. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love this shop. It has a really homey, friendly atmosphere. They also do great maintenance/repair work there, for very reasonable prices. They actually care about you and your instruments, and they all play instruments themselves. Wont be going to my old guitar shop after coming here.*I originally posted this review on the wrong account.*

Came in wanting to purchase a starter bass guitar set (bass, amp, cables, etc.) and was not disappointed. I wanted to pick up and learn the bass, but didnt really know where to start in terms of equipment. I told them what my budget was and my experience level (zero), and they helped me out from there. Jeff was extremely helpful, as were the other employees of the store.Would reccommend!

I have found my new favorite guitar store! The shop has a great look and feel like a classic guitar store. No big box feel here, but their prices are very reasonable. And the staff is knowledgeable and experienced. Felt welcomed there from the moment my son and I walked in the door! I was also very impressed with their repair service. My sons guitar now plays better than when it was new. Cant wait to go back and see what interesting instruments they have next time Im downtown.

Called me to pickup my guitar and said it was ready. Showed up that afternoon and it wasn’t ready. Had to wait 30 minutes and then when I got home it wouldn’t stay in tune after a few dive bombs, just tuned up NBD. Today I go to change the strings today and saw that put the locking nuts on upside down. I will not be putting my instruments in their hands again. Also the setup is OK. Still some string buzz which was my main point when I brought it in.

Good selection and prices, bit they charge extra for using a credit card and for cash transactions, a receipt is optional. In my opinion, this seems like a way to avoid accounting for all income on taxes.

The Fingerboard Extension is well equipped to handle new and used needs of nearly every sort of guitar/banjo/dobro/slide/violin player, as well as having a decent selection of used stuff (bought some high quality patch cables and an A/B pedal for $10 last time I was in) for nearly anyone to find what they need. IMPORTANTLY: They know the build quality of what they sell, and are willing to make recommendations accordingly. This is honest business. They go the extra mile to make sure you get what you want/need rather than what will make them the biggest buck (although, who wouldnt want that?), understanding that customer loyalty is #1.

Fingerboard Extension had a lot more going on than I expected when walking in. There are tons of parts, accessories, amps... there is even drum gear. All of the prices seemed fair/comparable to craigslist. The selection of electric guitars could have been better. The owner was nice and gave me a sweet deal on some picks and strings since I bought in bulk. Overall was a cool place where guitarists were hanging out. It was fun to go through their inventory and is the perfect place to go if you need any parts.Good: Parts/accessories/strings selection, amps, misc. gear (drum gear, cables, etc...), excellent prices, nice ownerBad: Definitely need more electric guitars (didnt have much there when I went, so they may usually have more selection), might be hard to quickly find a part without the help of an employee

I enjoy coming into the Fingerboard each month to see what is new (old).I have bought a guitar, mandolin and violin from them. They have worked on these instruments, plus ones I have found elsewhere.I was having trouble with the sound on an old, bowl back, mandolin. Keta put new strings on, (she knew what type was needed) and WOW... the sound is great! I thought there would be other concerns, but just strings.Yes, I recommend Fingerboard. I have been coming here for decades.

UPDATE: After a month of playing my guitar, Ive noticed that the battery drains even when its not being played. Pretty sure the technician hardwired the circuit to drain the 9V even when its not plugged in. How pathetic and spiteful. These are some real professionals were dealing withWent to this place to get some grounding work on a guitar done and to get a new jack installed. Was returned the guitar with a broken battery terminal and was asked to pay and leave with the guitar in worse condition then when I brought it in. BEWARE, please have your gear checked by THEM before and after you leave the guitar for repair, other wise you might be blamed for damages to your gear that they are responsible for.Came into this store with a guitar that needed a neck fitted on and tuners installed. And a second guitar which needed a jack soldered on and grounding work done on the electronics to fix some noise issues. When I brought the guitars in, the lady at the front of the store was immediately annoyed that I brought my own parts. She was also vexed by the fact that I didnt have strings on both guitars (why would I? I was getting them both repaired. one for electronics and the other for neck fitting) After that I insisted that she should use whatever jack that she could gaurantee the work for, at which point I agreed to buy the jacks that they had in stock. She also insisted that I should buy strings, so that the guitar could he strung and tested before I would pick it up. Luckily I had a single string handy which I handed to the lady with my guitar. I was told to come back in two weeks to get both guitars when they would be done.I called in a week later and was told that I could pick up one of the guitars by the tech who was working on it. I came in the following day and the woman at the front of the store was immediately annoyed that I did not wait for both guitars at once. I picked it up and immediately noticed that the string that I gave was not used and the guitar had not been strung. At this point, I asked to test the guitar before I left.Plugging the guitar in, I noticed there was no noise but there was no signal fron the Piezo pickup at all. At this point, one of the male techs walked up to me and offered a new battery in order to remedy the issue. The battery change made no difference, and I was about to hand the guitar in so that they could fix the damage they had caused. The piezo circuit was working fine when I handed the guitar to them, the jack was just noisy and broken.Suddenly I noticed that the wires going to one of the battery terminals was broken. I pointed this out to the tech at which point he remarked, Oh you could take care of that yourself, at which point I turned my face towards him because I wasnt sure if he was joking. I insisted that the battery terminals were fine before I brought it in. After this, he accused me of breaking the terminal while trying to check if they had even done their job, which they hadnt bothered to do.At this point, I continued to insist that I did not break the wire and insisted that he should repair it.He eventually relented, wasted 30 minutes of my time repairing the battery connecter and I was on my way. I asked if they had started work on the other guitar, at which point the lady at the front desk started to yell at me about how long it took to repair the other one, blah blah blah and how they hadnt started the other guitar yet (as if they werent being paid for their work and were doing the work for charity). I simply asked for the guitar back because I did not want to have that guitar damaged further. As with trubadour, Corvallis guitar shops are filled with bitter curmudgeon luthiers with attitude problems. My advice would be to drive to Eugene where the luthiers are much nicer and actually competent.

A friend of mine had an adjustment on his acoustic here and they made it sound Awesome for around 20 bucks plus they put new strings on his guitar. I took my Taylor in based on his recommendation, It was so out of wack that two other shops in the valley said it wasnt fixable which I knew was ridiculous. It Was in the shop for only two days before they called and said it was ready when they initially said a week,so that was nice. Got my guitar home and Its perfect! For 40 bucks they adjusted it to perfection! Its sounds better than it did when new! Only thing that disappointed me was they put the old worn put strings back on. Was expecting some new strings with the work I had done solely because they put new ones on my friends and he paid less. Its ok Ill throw some new elixers on and Im more than happy about the work they did. Thanks FBE!
