It was a week ordeal with bumps in the road, but the short of it is that my cars transmission was aweful when I took it in and now a week later it works pretty great. They didnt bleed my brakes so I had to spend another $100 to get that done but now my car moves and drives right.
First off it took 2 months to get my 2003 hummer h2 back from re sealing my transfer case and putting a different front different in, then I took it home it leaks still and still clunks, took It back they had it 3 more months added catalytic converters. It now has a massive exhaust leak amd the clunking they said they had to cut some of my differential out.. its completely a hack job look like shcrqp.. so a total of 5 months to get back a still leaking front end, and now leaking exhaust. A
Update: In true unprofessional style the business responded and refuted my claims instead of 1) trying to make things right or even at a minimum 2) taking the poor review to heart and do better next time. From their response: ..we said was car was in good shape.. Clearly if all 4 tires need replaced, it is not in good shape. Very poor visual inspection.Additionally, they stated I was not charged anything but as anyone can see from the included receipt pictures, I was charged $80. Next: ..maybe in couple weeks it could need small maintenance work. There is no proof of this claim as they did not provide an itemized list of what was inspected or a printout given with said suggested repairs or maintenance. Lastly, Used cars are are exactly that used. Response: I did not bring in a used car. I brought my vehicle in for an inspection to ensure its safety, which again, is what is advertised on the AAMCO website. Maybe lazy mechanics are exactly that, lazy. I am going to allow them to keep the $80 as they sold out their integrity for such a low amount, they must need it more than I do.Original review: Went in for a pre-purchase inspection which is advertised as an overall review of the vehicle; Ensuring the car is safe to drive, according to the AAMCO website. The inspection was done on 4/22/21 and by 4/24/21 the brakes were squeaking loudly. Took the vehicle to another national chain mechanic shop for a second opinion and was advised my brakes were completely gone and the tires need to be replaced. See attached pictures for receipts showing date of inspection and then the date of all 4 tires being replaced (less than a week) after AAMCO on Avenue A in Council Bluffs, IA advised everything was good to go. No itemized inspection list received as no repairs were recommended. Would not utilize this location again.
Since you asked, I found Mike patronizing and unprofessional. He gave me lectures about my vehicle. I used aamco services 2 times hoping that the experience would be different. The original reason I brought my car in was not addressed nor repaired. I found the diagnostics incorrect and the price was not reasonable. The repairs were decent but gave no noticable difference to my car. In short, Im not happy with the repairs, diagnostics, price, and staff. I have gone to get second and thirds opinions elsewhere with better results.
Them guys did me right. Keeping me safe on those busy streets
Mike was helpful and professional throughout the entire experience. He remained in contact with me and updated me as the project neared completion. I highly recommend AAMCO if you need transmission work.
I was taken care of . Brought my ford Explorer in a day early. So it could be taken care of as soon as possible. Yes I know its not going to be looked at till tomorrow. We will see what the out come is.
Best shop in town. Mike the service manager is always willing to help in anyway he can. I would highly recommend Aamco for all mechanic needs.
Came to aamco due to getting a car from carhop. got my vehicle back with a dent in the side of it.. so i went and talk to them about it.. they have no cameras anywhere around their building inside or out. when confronted about the dent, i was told i thought this was america innocent until proven guilty.. yea some business... will not be returning.. i am talking to corporate
AAMCO is an excellent place. Mike is a friendly guy who explains what a car needs without trying talk people into unnecessary expensive repairs. Its so refreshing to see theres still honest mechanics in town.
Had work done dropped it off Thursday day before new years they guaranteed me it would be done Monday it was done.Thank you and your staff...
Had a great experience here. They did both my Lyft and Uber inspections for a single price! Will definitely be back in a year when its time to do this again. Thank you
Had my strut go out on my van. Mike made a stressful situation much better. In the same day they got my car fixed without any issue. These guys did not sit there and try telling me I needed all this other work done. They fixed my issue and had me on way, so I could have my vehicle for the weekend. Thank you for everything guys, you have a customer for life. Ive already recommended you guys to friends and family.
Fast service and great place to go and get your car fixed. Be nice if they had a reward system
Great place to go into. Mike the Manager and his guys are a great team. Very thorough and fast. Had to take my vehicle in to get it checked out. Would definitely recommend him and his crew to anyone and plan to.Thanks Mike
After them replacing my enginethey decided I needed a new water pump. But...it wasnt the water pump that needed replaced but the serpentine belt. They really dont know what tgey are doing. My power steering never worked after I got my car back and got stranded on I29. Would never ever suggest taking them my car.
I never write reviews but I need to say how happy I was with the service here. I am so grateful for Mikes help, professionalism and timeliness. My car broke down driving through Nebraska from Colorado on the way home for Thanksgiving. I had to leave the car and continue home eight hours away. I called AAMCO on Friday after learning from the mechanic it was brought to would not be able to do the repairs. Mike took the car in, called me often to keep me in the loop while diagnosing, did the repairs swiftly and pricing was reasonable. I was on my way back to Colorado with my car by the weekend. Considering he did all of this the day after a holiday when most shops wouldnt even accept my car, Im so impressed. If I lived in the area, I would be back in a heartbeat and wouldnt hesitate to refer. Thank you so much!
The staff here are very knowledgeable and friendly. Very efficient in diagnosing car problems and efficient at getting the job done right. I know of very few places that have a Diamond placard from the BBB. That in itself speaks volumes.
Asked a simple question, Can you loosen an oil plug for me? I was willing to pay, but got an earful of don’t want responsibility. Person over phone asked “What kind of vehicle do you have?” and mocked the fact I had a Subaru. A simple “No we do not loosen oil plugs would have sufficed.” Called service station down the street helped me out in five minutes.
The on in Council Bluffs is the only one I deal with. Ask for Mike
Mike helped us and Mike was great. Paid $1700 for a rebuilt transmission for a monte Carlo. Work was excellent and no problems.
They were very polite and helpful they kept me in the loop of what was going on called me before spending a cent and they were very quick getting the car checked parts ordered and repairs done and back to me they were just great all the way around
I had my transmission replaced. I was very happy with the work that was done.
Mark was so helpful and gave outstanding customer service. I highly recommended them to service your vehicle.
Poor service, go in for a transmission rebuild come out with two broken front springs on my suspension.....they claimed it was because my car sat too long😂, i do know about cars, they were hoping i didnt.Mike is a very nice man, but i just dont like being lied to and taken advantage of...
I dont drive but I do like Aamco because I send things to my ex-boyfriend Rob Michael Wallace and they give the stuff to him with no problems and they are very kind to me thank you very much
These guys charge WAY too much. Even for simple repairs these guys are expensive. Dont know about the quality of their work because I left right after they quoted me a price!
Mike, the service manager at Aamco gave me a quote and was right on, they did great work and I couldn’t be more happy I will go back.
Got a second opinion here on a transmission problem. They were able to spot and fix it in less than an hour worth of labor ($60 total), the other guys were wanting $700 in labor just for the inspection.
Love this place. My ancient Dodge Dynasty kicked the bucket, and AGAIN they were able to resurrect it from the dead! Thank you again, you guys are mechanic-magicians!
Great people, they really do know what they are talking about, customer friendly, everyone from the boss, down to the technicians, are very professional.
Mike is a great guy. Did a fabulous Lyft inspection.
These guys are top nitch. I needed a ton of work done and they got it all done in a day. They are thorough and take the time to explain wach item needing attention. Highly recommended!
They took care of my problem and put my mind at ease. Very nice and professional!
I have had everything from transmissions & clutches replaced to motors replaced & most recently the transmission in my jeep grand Cherokee rebuilt at AAMCO and we couldnt have made a better choice in the shop we chose! My husband took 1 of his cars to AAMCO back in the 80s and has nothing but great things to say about Mike & his Boys!
Smooth and easy process had my car back the next day.
My mechanic who does not work at Aamco, put a rebuilt transmision from Aamco in my PT Cruiser. The one year warranty had expired a few months previously, but when I explained to the guy there that I suspected that I was having minor transmisssion problems, they read it with thier computer and reset the TCM, transmission Computer Module, then drove it and tested it again. They charge like $74.99 for the computer check but he waved the fee and charged me nothing for anything. I did bring my receipt from when I got the trasmission. That is good service, even did it while I waited after I just dropped in with no appointment.
Friendly, helpful, quick diagnostic service.
I tried to see if they could order a part and I got a line of stupid questions:*First one was do they sell that part(really come on now this is before asking the. Make and model).*have you tried oRiley ect..*does mzda sell this part (FFS just look it up).I am not waisting my time with the stupidity I want to order a part how hard is that!?
This place is fantastic. Fair prices, dependable, and honest
I guess I wasnt important enough after two weeks of having my vehicle to get it done cause they got busy. I dont appreciate being put off the way I have been.
Thank you for being so generous! God Bless your business!!
They did a great job for a decent price! Just wish they had a key drop box for when your dropping off your car after hours.
Really good work
Very nice and prompt. Thank you!
Would not trust that place to air up a football.
I have nothing positive to say about this place .. i could go on for days about the negatives with this company
Fast and friendly associates.
Very helpful
Very professional! Exceprional service.
