We didnt pay the $6 fee to go in any of the rooms. My husband went up to the top of the tower & said it was okay, not really worth the climb but only because the leaves hadnt changed much at all. He said it would probably b gorgeous when the leaves change.

The Homestead Tower is amazing I love it for the history!! Its just sad that no one wants it or can claim it! look it up.. But they host an annual Apple Festival that has all kinds of vendors from Food, animal calls, books w/authors, sublimation, petting zoo was there this year that was pretty cool, face painting, balloon making 🤷‍♀️, and of course businesses advertising, and live music.. It is alot of fun!! Dont forget your apples!! Homemade canned apple sauce is the best with the apples!!!

The history is really interesting. I liked the museum and the staff very friendly. The movie was informative and put together well. My only recommendation is to have the house open the same hours as the museum. We couldnt wait until it opened but at least we drove through the neighborhood and got to see the houses from the street.

Great place to learn the local CCC history. The view of the Cumberland Plateau is great from the top of the Tower. 97 steps on a very narrow that wraps around the water tank inside the Tower. Interesting little tourist stop if you happen to be in the area. The tower is a highlight that is a bit challenging to climb. Your thighs may be sore when all is said and done. Also, the main floor areas aside from the shop have a small fee to view. Bathrooms are available as well. Area to get around the tower to park is a bit funky.

This museum is definitely a must-see. It depicts some of the local history very well. There are 90(ish) stairs that lead up to the very top of the tower, which gives you a birds eye view and on a clear day you can see for miles. The museum gives you information on the era of the New Deal, which is when the homesteads were first created in Cumberland County. When you finish your visit here you should go to the Homestead house museum about a mile or two away.

Place runs off volunteer help. The guy we met today was very helpful and was a fountain of history, not only with what youll find in the museum but experience of passed down knowledge. The tower itself is free to climb, but beware there are a lot of idiots that etch their names on the water tank and the wood at the top. Im sure that if they could they would carve them into the stone walls. Great place to step back in time. An 11 minute video gives a great look into why the place is there. The cost is extremely cheap and for a little more you can visit one of the homesteads. Gift shop has some wonderful items and in the fall they have the best apples for sale.
