First off happy 4th of July. I happen to be driving by and saw the tow truck driver and decided to ask him is he knew anyone staying open late as it’s the holiday, i just needed a plug in my tire cause of a nail. He told me to pull in and show him where it was he then proceeded to help me by taking the nail out and plugging it. Great Guy helped save my 4th highly recommend these professional and out going workers.

Terrible service I called them to lift my car because I had run out of transmission and I needed to move from witle st in danbury to Franklin Street and I was so surprised that they wanted to charge me $ 250 please gentlemen I called another company and I they charged $ 80 I do not recommend this service

Ive been going to Federal Towing for nearly 2 years. Ive brought them my 04 Subaru Outback, my 02 Grand Caravan, my 04 Jeep, and my 16 Mini Cooper. Theyre experience is unmatched, able to diagnose and repair any job Ive brought to them. Theyve always given me a fair price, even when I bring them a large job.Ive gone through a massive range of cars, and theyve been able to service them all. I really appreciate the work they do, and how down-to-earth the whole staff is.

The towing service is great. The desk help leave quite a bit to be desired, however. No smile, no Good morning. Last time I was there I was greeted with a blank look and What do you want?. Used to be the friendliest staff in town. Now its like youre an imposition. They usually do good work though.

We had our Jeep Wrangler break down on the Merritt in CT and Federal, specifically RYAN, did an awesome job taking us back to Pennsylvania the same evening. It was really late and he was helpful, personable, and a pleasure to ride with for the three plus hours to get us home and safe. He was professional and made sure we were ok at every point of the trip!Highly recommend!

After visiting my dealership for a routine oil change and being told I needed a whole host of things that made no sense, I went to Federal Auto. They checked out the car and confirmed only one of the items might make sense to replace. They then quickly made the repair and had my car ready the next day as promised! Courteous, Fair, Helpful... where else can you go for a customer service experience like that!!!

On Christmas Day at about 5 pm I got two flat tires. We called AAA and after waiting about an hour someone finally came. Due to the two flat tires being a result of a massive pot hole, we called the police to get a police report. The tow truck and 911 arrived at the same time and the tow truck driver (license plate number 10906) said “if I have to move my truck I’m leaving” and also expressed that he’s not waiting a minute longer. After some back and forth with the officer the tow truck driver LEFT US STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE on a backroad with no street lights and drove away. We weren’t asking this driver to go above and beyond. We were asking him to wait 5 minutes so the officer could finish the report. In the time that it would’ve taken him to load the car, the officer would’ve been done. This company and AAA should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for employing such a disgraceful human being. To leave people stranded on Christmas Day for no good reason is a level of evil I can barely put into words. I’ll be reporting this company, the driver, & anyone else involved to any and every agency imaginable. Absolutely disgusting treatment.

Quick and effective fix, good customer service. Our car broke down after dark on New Years weekend on our way back from a road trip. Federal was quick to arrive and pleasant to deal with. They were able to fix our car early the next morning and have us back on the road before 10 AM.

Ive been a customer of Federal Towing for about 10 years. They are terrific! Most of the guys are friendly and very knowledgeable. I started using them after my old mechanic couldnt figure out why my truck kept hesitating. After a short ride with a Federal Towing mechanic I was told what the problem was. They fixed it and I have been a customer ever since. I noticed some of the other comments suggested FT are expensive parts changers. The last time I took my truck in, they charged me about $17 for whatever was wrong with it. Imagine that? I think that speaks to their integrity.The guys keep telling me to get a new truck. I keep telling them that as long as they keep maintaining and fixing it, Im saving too much money vs. getting a new car/truck. You ought to give these guys a try.

I is very hard to find a good mechanic to work on our familys vehicles. I just had the battery of my car checked and the technician from FAST named Rom who helped me was very thorough and explained to me clearly and honestly what the real status of my battery is. He also showed me my options if I were to change my battery and how the prorating works with AAA. Federal Towing you have one great employee. An example of exceptional service.

Not a great experience. Work seems competently done. Told it’d be done “well before” 2 in the afternoon on a certain day. Made sure to mention multiple times to the shop that I had to move out of my dorm by six that same day. Not ready at three. Arrived at four thirty. Waited in shop for an hour and a half for car to be ready. Wait was partially due to the shop’s unforeseen door maintenance but was prolonged because the car they were currently working on was blocking the exit of my car. Blocking it for an hour with apparently no possible way for them to get it out. Bit irritated now but nothing I could do. More irritated later on because of something I noticed on the bill after the fact. Most if not all mechanics I’ve used in the past will charge for a diagnostic service to find out what problem really is. All shops I’ve been to (and this is generally the industry standard. If they tell you otherwise, they’re lying) have waived the diagnostic fee if you buy the repair from them. Federal, however, decided to keep the $115 diagnostic fee attached to my bill, despite the already $1000 they charged for the service. To top it off when I was originally quoted the cost, it was roughly the same as the service without the diagnostic fee. Will not be going back unless it’s to get that charge reversed. Besides, Meineke on Main Street is cheaper and faster.

I have had both of my cars serviced at Federal Towing for the past several years and I have never had a problem. If I needed a jump for a poor battery they always came to me in the time stated. I find their staff to be very professional and helpful. I would highly recommend them to all my friends and family.

I have been bringing my cars to Federal Automotive Service & Towing since they were called Federal Towing and Car Care. I wouldnt go anywhere else. Phenomenal service, thorough explanations and old-fashioned honesty are the order of the day at this establishment. Years ago I brought one of my cars there and after looking at it the owner came out and told me that the part I needed may still be under warranty and that before he did anything he wanted me to check with the dealership where I brought the car. Sure enough, it was a free repair at the dealership. You dont get that kind of service at your average automobile repair shop. As I said, I wouldnt go anywhere else.

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!I brought my 01 Mustang in for repairs after they towed it for me. It was walking distance from my home so I thought I would try it....THREE days later they were still UNABLE to diagnose the problem. Only when I said I was going to have the car taken somewhere else the magically found what the problem was. They mislead me on how much I was going to have to pay. They only told me how much it was for the repairs and did not include what I call the Incompetence tax which was the time they charged me for not being able to figure anything out which was about $300.And to top it off, they gave me a rental car that smelled as if Orson Wells gave birth in August in there.These guys are the patron saint of mediocrity. I only say that because after the my car was repaired I called TWO other one-man-shop mechanics to ask them what they thought. Both times before I finished my explanasion of the problem they told me what the problem was EXACTLY. While Federal a shop of about 10 mechanics, from what I saw, could not figure it out.Federal will string you along and make you pay for the ride.

Got my CT Emissions inspection done under 20 mins. Friendly staff, hazzle free, fast service. I would definitely recommend for Emissions Inspections.

I strongly recommend avoiding this automotive service company. They took a fender off of my car unnecessarily and tried to convince me that it was off the car before I took it to the shop. Also, the job that the car was taken to the shop for was half done. I was inconvenienced in many ways once the car was returned. Not professional or honest management.

Used them for a midnight roadside assistance and they no called no showed and when I called they made sure to hit the ignore my call when i called

Absolute worst place.2004 they towed my car and ripped a hole in the transmission case.2013 they sold me a battery with cranking amps of a motorcycle in my Wrangler.When I was dead on the side of the road, they said come back and we will sell you the correct one. I asked if they would at least towed me back, they said no.I was at a Jeep dealer and had the dealer speak with Federal. Diesel mechanic does not know how to work on trucks. He told me he had no idea what was wrong and to go rent a plow truck while he had my truck for over a month and a half. I paid these people $2200 to change the glow plugs and valve cover gaskets on a 7.3 Ford. I guess there diesel mechanic has never heard of an IPR valve that turned out to be the problem and I changed it myself. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

They fixed the car but did not put everything back in place. Of the things not reinstalled properly, one of my vents was on the floor, there was sticky paper with screws to put my dash back together on my center console, and random metal parts just on the floor of the passenger seat. They still charged me over a grand for the whole job and it wasnt completed properly. Would not recommend.

HORRIBLE SERVICE! Called for a flat tire at 11:30pm and it’s now almost 2am and no one has came! We keep calling and they say someone’s on the way!!! But no one shows up! Awful service. Very disappointed

They suck. they did a transmission flush on my car amd they use a quart of oil i had inside my car without my concern amd they didnt change the filter on tne transmission. way to go!how i found out? i check the bolts and drain plug on the trans pan and it show nothing touch it.

BE CAREFULIf i could give it a Zero star i would.Make sure you take a picture of your car before and right after picking up your car.The people that work there and even the MANAGER whose name is Manny are so shady and ignorant. My moms new car was towed by this Company after a car accident that occured to the front area of the car and when we went to pick it up from this place to take it to the toyota repair shop, we noticed that there was damage to the back of the car (where the accident did not occur, and no there was no damage to the back before the accident, it was a brand new car). The manager was the one who discharged the car for us and took us to the back garage to pick it up where I asked him about the damage. He just shrugged and said I dont know.Because of my lack of knowledge and not being smart about it, I took the care home to take it to the repair shop.Since my insurance did not want to be responsible for the damag to the back, we went back to the these guys to file a claim with Federal towings insurance. The manager said that he couldnt take responsability and that their “cameras for the garage were not working the day my car was received”. which is BS.I came back a few other times trying to see if they could help and it was a complete waste of my time. Manny ignored me completely.Now I have to pay a deductible with my insurance company when its not even my fault.KARMA.

After getting my car stuck called to get a tow. They did MORE damage than getting my car unstuck. Their drivers are inexperienced, rude, and unprofessional.Update as I just notice the response: AAA ended up paying for 1/2 the damage as did the city of Danbury. The AAA rep. did not agree that it was my fault. The driver was inexperienced, and did not know what he was doing.Responding to a public review and actually reaching out to the customer are two totally different things. When my husband or myself called not one of your staff or managers would speak to either of us in regards to the incident. And all of our calls when returned “0” times. I hope AAA drops this company. And I will be forwarding this review to them as well. As I have been a AAA member for 10 years.

I had two broken window motors and they repaired them. The original estimate included a loaner car for me to use on the weekend while the parts were being ordered and shipped. When I spoke on the phone with Tom, I was told that he would have to charge me a little extra for the loaned car, which was to be expected. I was okay with that. I dropped the car off on Thursday and was told it wouldnt be ready until Monday since dealer parts needed to be ordered.But I got a call on Friday that the parts had been shipped over night and my car was ready for pickup-- I didnt need to wait until Monday. Since I didnt need to use a loaned car all weekend, I expected the overall fee to be reduced, but it wasnt.After spending close to a thousand dollars for two window motor replacements, it would have been nice if they cleaned out the rubber strips that hold the window into the door. Theres still years worth of dust, debris, and dirt down there. The passenger window raises at a considerably slower rate than the drivers side, and I think that dust and debris is to blame. It should have been sprayed out with a power washer, or vacuumed, or blown out with an air hose. I feel as if the new motor is already working harder than it needs to in order to get the window up.The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Ive had a lot of people tell me that I got ripped off because I could have ordered after-market parts on Amazon and installed the components myself, but the price was high because the parts they used were dealer parts (with a warranty), and dealers notoriously charge a huge fee. But I would rather get parts I know are going to work--and arent some knock-off parts from China thatll break in a few months. So despite the steep price for dealer parts, I know I got window motors that will last, with a warranty.Parts: $600Labor: $400They gave me a 15% discount as a new customer, which was nice. They also included a diagnostic check, free of charge, as well as a free ride to and from work when I dropped the car off on Thursday.Im a little skeptical about the loaner car and I feel like I should have been charged less to use it for just a day and a half rather than the whole weekend. And I am a little disappointed that the window rubbers were not cleaned out. They also didnt bother to windex the windows they worked on. I figured a couple paper towels and a squirt of windex could have been included in the $50 shop supplies on my bill.Since a 5-star rating is supposed to reflect service that you love, I have to give Federal Automotive Service & Towing a 4/5 for the items mentioned above.P.S. When I was offered a ride back to work, the guy who brought me there waited about an hour to actually take me (I was able to read 35 pages of Thucydides History of the Peloponnesian War while I waited.)I would suggest arranging transportation ahead of time if you dont want to wait for them to drop you off somewhere, but keep in mind that this is a free service--which is a great plus. But you might wait around a little while, so bring a book.

My car broke down & Ive been stuck in Danbury for an hour already and Federal Towing is the regional AAA towing company but wont answer the phone, so AAA had to send a truck from Bridgeport. Thanks, Federal Towing for the extra hour wait at 1:30am.
