Each donut is the size of two regular donuts...at least. Many different flavors make it hard to choose which ones you want to try. Donuts were good, but I expected them to be a little fresher than they were that day. Some were much better than others, so I guess it depends on the flavor that you choose. There are no regular glazed; only gourmet flavors which were pretty awesome.
Wow. Its a good thing this place is 20 minutes from my house or Id have a hard time controlling my donut intake. Delicious -- the dough is phenomenal. The special donuts are elaborate and a lot of food, but we shared them. They had such creative flavors too. I could see getting a beautiful box of a dozen to bring to someones house or an event and it would really make a nice presentation and no doubt be super popular with everyone. I didnt try the ice cream infused ones, which is definitely intriguing, but Ill be back for sure!
Amazing donut and coffee house. The base selections are enough to make you come back for more, but the weekly rotating donuts are the show stopper. Im always excited to see what four new donuts will be available and to try the interesting combinations that Grounds is able to dream up of.The coffee and espresso have a very fresh and dark flavor. There are also multiple additions you can add or change up for your drink including oat milk or their sweet cinnamon toast flavoring. The staff is also very kind and friendly and explain everything well.
Good donuts, but they focus on icing for flavors. I wish we could find a place with different donuts with a focus on the baked or fried items not the icing. I guess i wish Randys in LA was here in CT.
Amazing visit here. Great donuts. The donuts are huge and filling. Cant wait to go back and try different flavors.Highly suggest you give it a try. Check out the menu. They have some funky flavors that look so good.Coffee was good as well.My favorite part was the look of the place and the staff. The staff was so cheerful and friendly and just overall happy even though it was busy at 9am.I recommend you try it out. I cant wait to go back and try the fruity pebbles donut and the stores donut. I tried the Boston cream one. It was filled with cream, not just a little squirt of cream like other places. They dont skimp here!A+++
Fantastic espresso and a Fair price for everything. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. It’s a cute place to sit and have a cup of coffee and a doughnut!
Fat over-sized donuts are what youll find here at Grounds. These fried dough balls are massive and the flavors range from traditional glazes n frosts to inventive like churro, oreo cookie etc. The donuts themselves are soft n fluffy w/a good fresh taste. The icings are a touch sweet n could use a punch up in flavor, like the chocolatr could be a lil more chocolatey or the strawberry a lil more berry ish if you catch my drift. Everything tastes good but i feel it could be even better. My only knock is that I dont care for the fryer oil they use personally though it isnt off putting just something about it, that and the prices on a half or full dozen are slightly high but still a solid donut shop and these rounds are light years difference from a D&D offering. Have visited multiple times.
Decent coffee. Ive had two jelly donuts (my normal fave) here sincey they opened and they have a medicinal aftertaste- like grape robitussin. Other donuts have been excellent, and two people can share one- they are big!
Fabulous donuts. I tried all four of the ones we brought home.Churro- yumBoston Creme - fantasticCoffee Cake - so flavorfulFruity Pebbles- the crunch was great mixed with the frosting. The donuts themselves are soft and light, they taste like what a donut should.I can’t wait to go back and try four more.Oh the donuts are huge.Coffee is greatDecor is coolStaff so nice and friendly.
I had no idea what to expect. Thinking another donut and coffee place, I was extremely surprised. I walked in and there was a full bar, and seating to enjoy the moments. Beyond the bar was the reason I was there: giant-sized donuts. The donuts are twice the size of any donut! I arrived near closing time. At that time of day, pickings are slim. Donuts are pretty much sold out, according to my friends who are regulars. That is what I experienced. There were 2 specialty Everything donuts, and that was all. ☹️ However, to my delight, getting regular glaze flavored donuts could be made easily. I snatched up the 2 Everything donuts, and ordered a chocolate glaze and strawberry glaze! 👏🥳 I was pleased with what I tasted. The everything donuts were covered with a white glaze (vanilla?) with poppy seeds, salt, sesame seeds, and, something crunchy (onion or ?). I enjoyed every morsel! My husband enjoyed the chocolate; my son, the strawberry. Prices seem reasonable for the fact they are twice the size of ordinary donuts and specialty donuts are, well, a specialty. Specialty flavors can change. Currently, Crumb Cake donut, chocolate stuffed donut with chocolate glaze, etc. are available for a short time. The location in Danbury was clean. The staff member was friendly and helpful to a first time visitor. I will be returning. 👍
Great donuts! Exactly what I was looking for. Big but still a good frosting to dough ratio. I got chocolate frosted, strawberry frosted, birthday cake, and apple crisp. The only one that didn’t wow me was the birthday cake. It was good just didn’t taste like anything more than a vanilla frosted donut with sprinkles. Still delicious! Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in the area
The donuts and coffee were excellent! The whole place had lots of nice decorations and seemed very welcoming.
After having donuts from here at an event, my wife and I decided to go to the actual location. This place would be perfect if the staff were a little friendlier and more engaging. Donuts were fresh.
Really frickin good donuts, got peanut butter and thin mint and the flavors were killer. Great drinks as well and it has a really awesome summery fun atmosphere. Fun place to hang and eat
Best donuts around and the coffee is impeccable. The staff wears mask but I can feel the smiles behind them. They were so helpful and explained all of the specialty drinks to me. The Cinnamon Toast latte is probably the best thing ever to come out of the coffee business.
The Best donuts in CT. Soft tasty and huge. (Thats what she said!).
Definitely some of the best donuts i have ever had !!! Theyre hard to stop eating if you get more than one LOL. Also the cinnamon toast latte was perfect 🥰
Im over 40. And have definitely eaten my share of donuts. This place has got to have the best donuts Ive ever eaten in my life. The flavor of the frosting and the heartiness of the dough is perfect for a sweet tooth like mine.No cap. Greeted in and wished well on the way out by the staff makes you even more want to come back. Coupled with some chamomile tea, you cant go wrong. Nice addition to the location. Prices are on par for the quality, but a little much for the current predicament.
The strawberry basalmic basil doughnut was probably the best doughnut Ive ever had.
I feel terrible writing a negative review because I want to support our local businesses. After reading the article the News Times published about this new business and my love for donuts and coffee it inspired me to visit Grounds Donut House. I purchased a small cup of coffee and a two donuts (Boston’s cream & Jelly). Music was too loud to the point I had to yell my order. Coffee was terrible. Tasted very watered down. Donuts tasted a day old and pretty sure they were because they weren’t light and fluffy and were a bit stiff. I expected fresh donuts and good coffee for $11.53. Donut Krazy in Shelton, CT, donuts are made fresh daily and on the premises. They’re coffee is top notch. Staff at Grounds is very nice and very accommodating. I wish this business the best of luck and would definitely come back if improvements to their products are made.
The staff is always friendly and the donuts are amazing. I always have to get a cinnamon toast crunch latte.
Such a great experience!! Atmosphere, service, and donuts were all incredible! I had the cinnamon toast latte too and it was AMAZING
The donuts are awsome. Totally recommend it
Donuts were out of this world! So creative and so tasty!
Just stopped in for the first time and it was just a wonderful experience. I ordered online which was quick and easy - everything was ready when I got there (2 lattes and a bunch of donuts). The lovely young lady behind the counter even helped me to my car being that there was so much to carry in the snowy rain. So sweet! Oh, and the donut was to die for! 2020 sucks, but Grounds Donuts do not!
Delicious artisanal donuts! My churro donut was yummy! Raised only, no cake style. Also excellent coffee. Donut prices are artisanal, but def fine for the occasional treat.
Amazing donuts! Great coffee! Good location!Clean and safe storefront
The donuts are soo good! A great donut shop was much needed in the area. Hopefully they start to make cake donuts at some point too, I would be excited to try those :)
The donut was tasty (basic chocolate frosted). They have a few other unique flavor options. The iced cold brew had an intense flavor. Not sure if I liked it to be honest.
Grounds Donut House has a really cool vibe and it’s own unique style; it’s very WeWork but in dark mode, if you know what I mean. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. It makes getting a coffee and a donut almost feel like a special experience. It’s definitely worth giving this place a shot - at least once - to see for yourselves what they’re all about. Read on if you want my in-depth opinion.I had a Boston Cream donut and a large signature-roast coffee with milk. I enjoyed both but they weren’t anything to write home about.Coffee:The signature roast is good but definitely on the darker size of the “medium-dark” scale described. This roast also seems to have a little bit of smokiness in the finish, so if you prefer a milder coffee maybe choose something else. I didn’t try the espresso but I would bet the signature roast is delicious in that form.Donuts:As for the donuts, they are very large, and extremely fluffy, — almost to the point of being a little dry — and could use a smidge more filling for their size. They’re all very uniform and very beautiful. If you like your leavened donuts on the fluffier, less-doughy side, these are definitely for you. The cream in the Boston has good consistency and flavor but in my experience tastes like it came from a mix. Many donuts shops use a mix for their cream to ensure consistency, but made from scratch is better (I’ve made it myself before). To be clear, I’m not suggesting the donuts are bad by any means, because they’re not. I just had slightly higher expectations for a shop that holds the name “donut house”, and charges as much as they do.Value and Rating:I really want to give this place 4 stars because the staff are awesome and it has such a cool atmosphere, but because of the price I just can’t. I can’t justify regularly frequenting a donut shop that charges $8 and change for one (pretty good) filled donut and a (pretty good) cup coffee. All that said, I stand by my point that it’s a cool spot. You should give it a try and form your own opinion!P.S. sorry I can’t share any pictures. My iPhone 7+ is on its last legs and won’t take any 🙃And for those now wondering, no my storage is not full, and yes I could’ve brought my camera 😂🤷🏻♂️
Doughnuts are good but idk why I was charged twice.I know why I was charged twice user error.
What can you say about exceptional products and service. Never has creative genius in product innovation in the donut industry ever held a candle to what you experience here.
Even thou I went an hour before closing, the donut was soft and pillowy. The coffee was good and so was the service.
I had the pleasure of getting a preview of Grounds just before they opened, and loved it! Both donuts were soft and delicious, and the toppings are creative and interesting but not too out of control. The cold brew was also smooth and interesting. The space is very cool! This will definitely be a common stop for me in the mornings.
I’ve seen a lot of reviews talking about how expensive it is in comparison to other donut places. The problem is it doesn’t compare, if you want a stale 1$ Generic donut go to Dunkin’. Grounds donuts are HUGE and no place around here is doing crazy flavors like that, that’s why it’s $4 dollars a donut because it’s a specialty donut that’s light and airy. If you don’t understand why there’s difference in cost then this ain’t for you. I love their selections the churro and cookies and cream are my favorites but the list goes on and they usually have news flavors like every week. I discovered them two months ago and let me tell you after I tried their cinnamon toast iced latte I was sold. That’s why I come here and pay the price because no one else in the surrounding area is doing it like grounds .
Huge tasty donuts. Great coffee. Unique aesthetic catering especially to millenials, between the decor, music (90s hits), and emphasis on quality espresso.
Pretty good donuts but honestly too sweet for me. I’ve never been able to finish an entire donut because of how sugary it gets. The atmosphere is nice and the coffee is good too. Kind of pricey so I can’t imagine going here a lot as a college student, despite the campus being 30 seconds away from the store.
Everything was clean, organized, and better quality than chain places by far.
Donuts arent my first go to for a dessert/pastry, however Grounds Donut House does it right. The donuts/fillings actually taste like what youve ordered. They are definitely worth it!
This place is ridiculously good. Little pricey I do admit but its really really good
My honest review is they have good donuts, although kind of expensive (~4 dollars each) the donuts look amazing but lack some flavor for the ones I tried. As for the coffee, I tried the cinnamon toast crunch cold brew which was really good. I could see them continuing to improve as time goes on. Staff and atmosphere are very nice. I am a broke college student but would rather support a local business than spend a few bucks less at Dunkin.
Ok I am addicted to their Cinnamon Toast Latte. Its wonderful and the best coffee I’ve had in awhile. Their donuts are also on point; I’m a huge fan. Instagram @sipsandsizzles
Great donuts and coffee but even better service. All employees super friendly and polite. My husband and I wish you all the success.
The donuts here are so big and honestly the best ones I’ve ever had! The s’mores donut is iconic and it’s absolutely my favorite! There are plenty of awesome and unique flavors, including their Cinnamon Toast Crunch coffee! I’m so happy I was able to go, and the donuts and everything are definitely worth the money!
Massive do uts, can usually feed 2 people on one donut.
Ok, first off, the donuts are good. But are they worth the price? No. No they’re not. To be bluntly honest, you’re better off driving to Glazed Over in Beacon, NY, and get them super fresh, like out of the oil still hot fresh. For a dozen donuts and two lattes it was 62 bucks. I could have gotten the same for half the price at Glazed or even less at Dunkin. The staff was VERY nice and they seemed genuinely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about what they were selling but I just can’t justify a price that high for what I got. Sorry.**Update**In response to the owner, yes the lattes were delicious. That was without a doubt one of the best. But I’m sorry the donuts, really, aren’t anything special. They’re big, sure, but the taste wasn’t worth what I paid. I apologize if it’s not what you guys wanted to hear, but it’s how my family and I felt.
All I have to say is BEST DONUTS EVER!! This new local donut shop opened up in Danbury and there is nothing else like it around. They’re unique in their own way with their large variety of flavors, including the amazing lattes and coffee. I have to say the fruity pebbles is definitely one of my all time favorite donuts so far. Each week they have different rotating flavors to look forward too! Highly recommend stopping in, also the music they have playing is soooo good and fun to jam to while waiting for the delicious treat.
Its a nice cozy atmosphere donuts are good very nice staff in and out quick and easy check out
Music was waaaay to loud. You almost have to shout your order and you have to lean together with the cashier otherwise - neither of which you want to do during the pandemic. Boston creme donuts were missing filling from about the middle of the donut to the end - on 3 of them, somebody didnt stick the filling in far enough. We had one flavored coffee (Jamaican, I think) that had weird flavors to it and the blonde roast was really bland. On the plus side, the staff was courteous and donuts were large.
Was visiting my son who lives in one of the WCSU dorms down the street and he told me we should check this new place out.Unlike most who go in the morning, we came today (a Sunday) at 2:30pm a half hour before they close. Even with a lot of their made donuts gone for the day the place still had a line waiting to get some! I had their Boston Creme donut and it was very large and filled with creme! The home brewed coffee was very good too.Service was very friendly and the general atmosphere was very lively and pleasant! Its nice to see a new small business succeed in these careful, troubled times and I wish them well. Will definitely patronize again on future visits to Danbury!
I love this place so much the donuts are so good and SO BIG and delicious. My son loves this place to it is delicious I suggest you go now. Also this place should get all 5 stars or you are the worst person to rate
Atmosphere is very nice, food is delicious. Service is very friendly and I had the fruity Pebble donut. For me it was a little sweet but good.
This is exactly what we needed in Danbury. A coffee shop/local donut spot to call our own. Donuts were fantastic, strong coffee.
Aside from the Donuts being bomb, the Vibe is everything!!! I had a really good experience visiting this town and trying the donuts! Can’t wait to come back for more!
I have been coming here 1-2 times a week since they opened and have had nothing but a great experience every time!! They have rotating donut flavors every week- some of which are crazy creative. From a cannoli donut, to dunkaroos, to fruity pebbles, to your classic glazed. The coffee is very rich and they have rotating, seasonal, coffee flavors. Many of which match the donut flavors! (best cold brew around)Awesome atmosphere inside- they always have great music, the entire staff is super friendly and accommodating.Love my saturday morning Grounds ritual!
Grounds Donut House is the greatest addition to Danbury! Fresh donuts made daily, over 12 donut flavors including my favorite Maple Bacon😍and their house blend coffee is insane!! Be sure to check this place out.
Everything about this place is amazing, the donuts are the best Ive had, the environment is welcoming and modern, and the employees are very nice. The price is worth it because the donuts are so fresh and the toppings are so creative and delicious, 10/10 would recommend!
It was a little pricey but OMG where the donuts sooooo yummy!!!!!
Atmosphere is great, donuts and coffee are even better!
Doughnuts are amazing!! Mocha latte is also fantastic!! Highly recommend.
14/10, great playlist, great donuts, strong cold brew coffee && Friendly staff🍩🤍
Dont like them to big all cake little frosting 👎
Amazing donuts and coffee!
Delicious and creative donuts, plus a variety of coffees.
Amazing Donuts!!! Get there early... before they sell out
Place is very nice. People are very nice. But totally feel that I wasted too much money for donuts and coffee. Dunkaroo donut sounded good until taking a bite. Tasted like butter and sprinkles. Churro donut had slight flavor. Strawberry frosted was not good either. Might as well stick to your regular Dunkin donuts - at least you can taste those. Definitely buy one donut before you bother wasting your money on half a dozen or a dozen. Really no flavor at all. Don’t think I will bother trying again.
Finally a place that cares about making a good donut and serving really good coffee in Danbury (Mothership is also great)! The service, atmosphere, donuts, and coffee were fantastic! Stop getting Dunkin and go here instead.
Delicious donuts and great hot chocolate
Unfortunately I cant give a zero. I walked inside to blaring music, the place had far to many people in line with covid being around.Okay, I ordered a dozen doughnuts and a small coffee. When I was told $43 I nearly fell over. Really? $43! I could have had 2 steak dinners for that. They certainly didnt taste any better or worse than Shoprite, Dunkin, Stop and Shop. Yeah a little bit bigger, but due to all the topping they pour on.My advice, go someplace else . Way overpriced and nothing out of this world....except the price. I will be surprised if they are still around a year from now. NYC prices in Danbury. Not yet
Delicious Donuts, very unique. The decor is uplifting and fun.
Awesome donuts, awesome coffee, awesome people!Definitely worth the trip! 🍩🍩
Very cool Vibe. Unfortunately could not say the same about the donuts. Out of the 4 we ordered only 2 were good. The chocolate glazed and jelly were slammin. The dunkaroo donut was advertised as having a buttercream frosting, it was disgusting. It was frosting that tasted like pure butter. I am a baker and this was definitely not buttercream. We also got a boston cream, it was your standard boston cream. In my opinion the frosting was too sweet and the custard was just not good. I could have gotten a boston cream from Dunkin Donuts and paid 2 dollars less. Disappointed in the prices. I think $38 for a dozen donuts its pretty ridiculous. Its Danbury CT not Manhattan.
Donuts aren’t cheap but holy **** are they amazing.
Great place great donut 🍩 shop local
Huge Dounts.Great Place love the atmosphere.
Awesome place and love the photos and the scenery and will certainly check it out
Nice place👌👌
Put it in my mouth! These donuts are amazing
Staff is very friendly, the Boston Cream donut was HUGE! And delicious
They dont make enough donuts for the demand so there is barely anything left before noon and the donuts taste quite average
Very good coffee and specialty donuts
