We had an emergency with an AC unit breaking down in the middle of a heatwave. Mitchell send a technician within a couple of hours to fix it, saving us from a sticky situation. When that unit eventually had to be replaced, Mitchell did a great job quoting us a fair price and scheduling installation without delay. All in all, excellent responsiveness and service.

Our basement flooded during the recent storm, causing our burner to be shut down. While other companies made excuses, Mitchell had a team out within the hour to assess and make repairs.They replaced the burner motor and did some other work, so at least we have hot water again. They were prompt and professional, and they strongly reinforced my decision to stay with them for my oil and service needs.Thank you Mitchell, you made a trying time more bearable.

The tanker arrived to drain the tank at 06:55 am and departed around 09:00 am. The crew were then able to quickly move the empty tank aside in the basement, remove the basement door, bring the new tank down into the basement. The old was removed, the floor swept clean, and the new tank installed. The job was complete by approximately 03:00 pm and the basement was left perfectly clean. The crew were most polite and friendly and did a terrific job.

I want to say think you to Mitchel Oil and Eric the tech for coming out in the middle of a snow storm to fix my boiler, not only did he show up in about 2 hours, but upon interring my house he took off his shoes, my own family sometimes will not take off there shoes. LOL. He went to his truck about 4 times for tools and every time took off his shoes when coming back, this to me is a sign of a caring and understanding person. By the way he fixed my boiler and he did in about an hour, saving me $$$. Thank you again to Eric and Mitchell Oil. I have been a customer for 12 years and will continue to be for years to come!! Very fair pricing (we had three estimates) and reliable guidance on equipment choice were the beginning of the journey, which was completed with an on-time installation. All promises were met. There was no double talk or hidden costs and any, and all questions were answered thoroughly. The service rep, Gin, who came to our home, was knowledgeable, professional, clean, wore a mask the whole time he was working, both inside and outside, and courteous. He was patient with our questions. He was concerned with safety, asking if we recognized the smell of propane, in case of a leak, and proceeded to show us the smell and how to shut off the tank. Unsolicited, he showed us how to turn the gas fireplace pilot on and off.

Tim our salesman called immediately to set up appointment to look at our leaking oil tank that Dave (technician) saw when servicing the furnace plus made suggestions. Tim came the next day we discussed what will be needed went over the suggestions. He was quick on sending quote and scheduling.Dave & Jake were our technicians to remove old oil tank & replace it with new one. I was leaving town very early the next day; my heat was not working (50 degrees), when I got home at 12:30am.I called the service number, a technician quickly returned my call, suggested a few trouble shooting actions which didn’t work.John S. arrived at 1am! Fixed the problem, was very courteous and pleasant; it took 2hours!!!So happy I switched to Mitchell!!!!!John S. deserves a bonus!!!!!!

We just converted from fuel oil to propane. The background is that our oil burner was old and needed to be replaced and we already had a big propane tank to heat our pool. Mitchell did a great job doing the installation. All of the guys were polite and professional. Everything was done on time and as promised and the new equipment was beautifully installed and the area clean when they left. We are very please and would recommend Mitchell highly. We got the System 2000 and I cant wait to see the energy savings but it is too early for me to comment on that.

Have been a customer of Mitchell’s for 10 years and never had an issue with propane delivery which is our primary business with them. However on occasion we have needed a service call for our furnace and they have always been prompt and got us back up and running in no time. This particular review is about my first service call for our AC. Rob one of the Techs was out a few hours after our service call and when I explained to him what was going on he had the system up and running within an hour and half. I thought the problem was a big deal and he worked through quickly and explained what was going on. Big shoutout to Rob and the entire Mitchell’s organization. Could not ask for a better fuel delivery and service organization. I highly recommend them and we are customers for life,

Needed a new furnace and I went with Mitchell and the experience was excellent. The whole process was great. The installers came on time and within 5 hours my new furnace was installed and running. About one hour later the Mitchell service guys came and fine tuned and checked the new furnace and the process was complete. I would highly recommend Mitchell for your furnace needs.

Not only do they answer the phone in PERSON, all of the agents are EXTREMELY helpful. They all speak English!!! And, they dont ask for your bra size and what you had for breakfast before helping you.We have had Mitchell for oil and propane for over 25 years, and we would never even think of switching. Customer service is UNBEATABLE.They have never declined a request from me, even it means running reports of my usage history and emailing them to me. Done in minutes:):)

I can’t speak highly enough of Mitchell Oil. Unfortunately I have needed their emergency services on a number of occasions and they come through with flying colors EVERY SINGLE TIME. The most recent event was a storm that knocked our power out along with most of Connecticut (I’m now at day 9 with no restoration in sight... thank goodness for our generator!) The gas level in my propane tank was extremely low and I urgently needed Mitchell Oil to deliver gas. Bearing in mind they were also without power and having difficulties with their own generators to pump propane into the trucks’ tanks, one of their technicians, Bob, delivered an emergency supply at 11pm to get us through the night. The following day, Jose was able to fully refill the tank, even though we had downed wires and our driveway was inaccessible. Their customer service is unsurpassable and I thank everyone on their team for working so hard and always putting the customer first. When asked by neighbors and friends who I use for my oil and propane, the response is always “Oh yeah, Mitchell Oil, they’re great aren’t they?” Yes they are!

I changed to Mitchell about 2 years ago when my former Propane dealer missed a delivery, we ran out and he couldnt get anyone for a few days leaving us with no way to cook. Plus, their Oil delivery turned out to be cheaper than the company I used for that so I consolidated both with Mitchell. GREAT customer service, very fair pricing, always prompt. They just replaced my furnace. I wasnt home, but my wife said 4 guys came, all introduced themselves, explained what theyd be doing and were in and out in about 3 hours leaving the basement immaculate and buttoned up tight! Couldnt be happier wish I had switched to them years ago.

Mitchell has been my heating company for more than 5 years and has done a fine job servicing my heating system so I figured they were the ones to do the replacement of my central a/c system and I certainly made the right decision. Right from the beginning working with Tim OLeary, to the installation, everything went smoothly and efficiently. Mitchell will be sending their technician out once again in about a week to give the system a final check to ensure that everything is working properly. I am very satisfied and highly recommend Mitchell for all of your heating and cooling needs.

Was away on business. My wife called me at 6 AM telling me our basement was flooded. Our water heater ruptured. I explained to her how to turn off the water main which stop the water flowing. Asked her to call Mitchell. Tim of Mitchell told her they would have a crew over in about one hour. The crew got there, pulled out the old heater tank and replaced it with a new one. Job was done quickly and professionally. within 3 hours water was flowing and the new heater was working. Thanks Tim and the Mitchell crew for doing a great job.

Ive been a Mitchell customer for five years. Obviously, no one likes paying for heating oil, the same way you dont like paying for gasoline, insurance, or other necessities. Nevertheless, Mitchell has been a solid company - very polite and helpful when you call them, responsive to emergencies, and prices that are in line with other companies. Overall, Ive had a very good experience with them.

UPDATE: Brian and the Mitchel company came good on their promise and had a service engineer fix our boiler at a reduced labor rate. Brian was collegial and amicable throughout. Would have given 5 stars but leaving at 4 due to the original inconvenience.UPDATE: Spoke to Brian, Service Manager. Agreed to lower labor to $129, also set a date later this month to come and complete the repair. Modified from 1 to 3 stars. Thank you Brian.Really not happy this morning. Scheduled a furnace cleaning with a note that the furnance safety reset keeps tripping, but to CALL for authorization on further work.Come home to find a bill for 2hrs @ $193.50 (+parts) to repair without a phone call to authorize AND, to compound the issue; the problem still isnt fixed anyway!Not great service so far...

I would like to thank everyone at Mitchell; the tech, Mario, was wonderful; not only did he put up with my dogs, he was very thorough, explained everything to me every step of the way, and took care of all of my concerns. I feel relieved that I wont have to worry about my heating system this winter.I would like to add another note of appreciation for the gentleman who delivers the propane to my home. Hes just wonderful (like Mario), and because of the fencing I put in for the dogs, I inadvertently made the delivery process difficult. This guy has been such a peach since I moved in.And Tom Defeo in the office was very helpful. Good team!!

I have been customer with them last year, delivery on time whatever you need or not. They even fill up my tank when the summer start and charged $0.40/gallon more than the marketing price. We dont use any oil in summer!!!!!I paid $300 more than other suppliers last year.

I was delivered propane without an invoice. I had checked the amount in the tanks before and after the delivery. 3 days later I was emailed a receipt that was not the standard invoice I would receive from this company. I called to explain and i was told that I was not reading the gauge properly. I am pretty good at mathematics so I explain a little more. Then i was literally told that the delivery and measurements of gasses is not an exact science (at $2.84 it better be). Then I was told that the gauge to my tank might be broken. Last time I by propane from Mitchell.

Mitchell was great to work with, we used them to convert from an electric cooktop to propane, they were awesome all the way around. Ray in sales came out to our house and helped explain our options, he took care of setting up everything, including the town inspection when done! Mitchells service install team was great, Nyek went over and above on the install so everything was good to go! A real pro for sure! And what more can you say about a dispatch team who actually lets you know when the install crew is heading to your house so you dont have to waste an entire day waiting around?! A professional operation through and through for sure!

I have been a Mitchell customer in Roxbury CT for over 8 years. I use a lot of propane. On the positive side, Mitchell has been reasonable on prices, they have been good at coming out to fix the heating system in an emergency, and most of the emergency techs are good guys.Now the bad news: the people who work in the office are hideous. They are rude, insulting, and downright nasty.Every time there is an office staff incident (often) I declare: “that’s it.....I’m getting a new propane company”. Then, one of the Mitchell family members calls (when I’m one foot out the door) and apologizes for the “misunderstanding” and says they will do better.Tonight was the final straw. Some dreadful person named Lisa insulted me on the phone, saying that my urgent (and valid)service request was not an emergency and I’d just have to wait. I pointed out that Mitchell doesn’t have this attitude when the shoe is on the other foot....when they want to be paid 24 hours after a delivery. Lisa sad she was too busy to talk to me and that I should call tomorrow. And hung up on me.This time I’m leaving.The Mitchell family people (owners) have gotten extremely rich delivering heating fuel to this area for 75 years. They have forgotten that Grandfather Mitchell used to drive one of the trucks and knew most of his customers and treated them well. Strangely, they seem almost embarrassed of the fact that the founder drove one of the trucks. They are now into their fancy houses and cars, their kids’ private schools and their club memberships.In a word, the Mitchell’s are just another supremely rich, spoiled, imperious bunch of A-holes who are insulated from their customers by awful people in the office. The office people get their terrible attitudes from somewhere.........guess where.......the Mitchell family who employs them.Don’t use this company unless you can handle being dumped on by someone you’re paying a lot of money to. If you’re like me, you’d much rather give $20,000 + per year to someone who treats you with courtesy & respect.

Needed an emergency delivery on a Friday 4pm. Call them and this guy was very rude and unprofessional and said he was not coming and that should go to the gas station and get 10 gallons of oil for the night. So disrespectful.At the end I did have to get the oil myself for my emergency. I only got my delivery on Monday. It was a freaking cold weekend in New Fairfield.

They came and and put 100 dollars more in then our agreement. Now are sending me letters saying that if i dont pay it all theyre not coming back. Thats why I set up a set amount for them to put in last year. In my mind theyre crooks and just out for the money. They try to hold you to some kind of stantards but dont withhold there end. I was talked to rudely when i called to ask questions. Ive been a customer for almost 10 years and this is the treatment I get.

I purchased a System 2000 Boiler from Mitchell about 3 years ago. It was their top of the line boiler and I was very pleased with the installation and product. Unfortunately it started to leak yesterday. This sometimes happens so not a big issue. I called Mitchell and they said they would come over right away and service it. They called back 20 minutes later and said they can not prioritize my service because they just realized I dont buy oil from them. So now I need to call a different plumber who isnt as familiar with System 2000 since that is not the boiler they typically install. In my opinion, Mitchell should prioritize my service appointment because I purchased the boiler from them, regardless of who I purchase oil from.

I was a customer for about 17 years. Never a problem until about a month ago. The service technicians were always extremely nice, knowledgeable, respectful of my time, and being inside my home. I had automatic delivery, annual service contract, and other maintenance done like having the coil boiled. Then on March 1st, the house was freezing when I woke up. It was 52 degrees in the house. I checked the oil tank and it was empty. So I called and the guy said he didnt know why there wasnt a delivery and will get some one out there, then come in to get the furnace going. Two hours later they come and only fill it half way and leave. No one came to the door to get it going. I call back and ask why he didnt come in and why only fill it half way. I didnt know if that was what they normally do or not. I hear a guy in the background go Is this guy complaining about getting half a tank? I said, let your co-worker know I can hear him and as a business owner myself that is not how you should be talking about a customer. He apologized. A tech came out, got it going everything was fine. Ten days later, I get a call saying they are not going to deliver until I pay for the last one. I was like what? I have never gotten a call like this from them before and pay the same amount every month. A woman gets on saying You owe this money and we are not delivering until you pay. I said Wait a minute, you guys let it run out which then the house was at 52 degrees. She then said You NEVER ran out of oil and they called me on New Years eve to tell me they were not doing automatic delivery anymore. I explained the whole scenario on running out and she said Nope, that never happened. At this point, I am furious why she would deny that and was explaining who the tech was since I was chatting with him while he was here. Mind you, I never spoke to any one on New years eve about what services they offer or dont. After 30 minutes of her calling me a liar, I said look, get this back to normal or dont and I will find someone else. She refused, so I am gone. Bottomline, some key people have left there recently and the customer service department has suffered. I always gave them high marks until being treated like this. I would have given 1 star, but they were good for a long time. All good things must come to an end.
