Peter and the team are absolutely fantastic to work with. I could not be more happy with the service and customer experience. We re-powered and purchased a 250HP Mercury with the help of Peter. He was super helpful and never pushy - always wanting the best for the boat owner. We also had them service the boat to get ready for the season. The work was great- they kept details on all services provided, and left the boat clean and in great condition. I will keep bringing my boat back every fall for service. I highly recommend Portside marine and the great work Peter and his team does.
Great service and awesome staff I would recommend to anyone
Peter and the folks at Portside were a pleasure to work with throughout the process of re-powering my boat. Up front but extremely fair with prices, and he took the care to make sure the other systems on my boat were running perfectly as well. Fast, friendly and impeccable service - no question as to where I go for work on my boat.
I cant thank all of the people at Portside for the years of great boating!! Once again the boat acted up a little last fall and I had the great mechanics go through the motor and what a difference that made. I have had only positive experiences with Rob and the staff here, both for parts and service! Thanks Portside!Philip Moran
I had my boat re-powered with new twin 150 4 stroke mercury motors, Peter and his staff were outstanding. During the re-power Peter called about some existing issues I had with the boat and they needed to replace the shifting and throttle cables. I appreciated this as I feel other shops in my area would not have replaced them or wouldve just done it and told me later. I traveled 3 1/2 hr from the other end of the state to Portside marine to do this re-power, and Im happy I did.
We have been keeping our boat(s) here over the past few years simply because Portside Marine has, time and again, proven to be the best place in these parts to service your boat, to store your boat, and know that they take care of your boat as if its their own. Peter and the staff have shown me on more than one occasion that they truly have customer service as their highest priority. When I have had an issue or a question, they have promptly responded, and settled any issue to my satisfaction. Rob is a mechanical genius with Mercury motors. We literally trust our lives and our property on the ocean on his expertise. I am a loyal customer! I could not recommend them higher! They bend over backwards for their customers, especially their repeat customers, so dont wait to get on their list. Its a little bit of a trip from the mouth of Beverly Harbor, but the voyage is extremely pleasant, there is a gas dock right around the bend, and you might have to wait a bit for the bridges to swing, but its all well worth it. The service prices alone are worth the extra effort. Ive utilized several marinas in the area over the years, and theres a reason why Ive settled here. Find out for yourself!
Bought a new engine from Portside for my Whaler. From start to finish they were knowledgeable, professional and courteous. They honored the original quote from the boat show and didn’t rake me over the coals with extras. Repairs were done as needed at a fair price as well. In and out in a timely manner. Highly recommend them for any marine needs.Maggi DiMareIpswich, MA06/2019
Peter and the whole crew were great. Used them to repower my boat over the winter and am very happy. Great communication through out the process, no surprises on the cost of the work, and they finished the job ahead of schedule. Looking forward to a great summer of boating with my new engine.
I took my boat out after having it re-powered at Portside Marine with a 150 Mercury 4 Stroke and had a fantastic experience. The boat jumps right up on plane and is way quieter than the old 2 stoke. The performance of the motor and the work performed by Portsides mechanics did exceed all expectations and I am extremely satisfied with my decision to re-power with them. I look forward to having Portside maintain and repair my boats for years to come.
Exceptionally friendly staff and have never had an issue with their service. They have the best reputation in the area when it comes to stern drive boats, which leads to longer wait times to get service done; but ...its worth the wait. I have tried other mechanics in the area for seasonal service; but, always end up back here. They seem to be the only marina in the area that takes a proactive approach to preventing breakdowns, rather than just fixing the boat after its too late.
The staff at Portside are fantastic. This time of year can be a nightmare at any marina but everyone at Portside were very courteous and prompt with taking care of my needs. The tech boys out back are extremely professional and up to date on the latest techniques, installations and gave me great advice on taking care of my engine. I highly recommend Portside for repowers, repairs and all of the many needs for boat owners.
I had a problem with my boat motor. It was running poorly so I brought it to Portside Marine. I arrived with a trailer wheel bearing emitting a plume of grey smoke. Peter and the crew raced outside with a hose to cool it down and prevent my rig burning. A few weeks later, my trailer is repaired, by boat motor is running great and the bill was less than I expected. Entirely great service and a nice group of folks. Thanks to all at Portside Marine. Worth the drive for a good boat mechanic.
First season at Portside Marine with Pete the owner for my boating storage, winterization, recommisioning etc. Very pleased. but wait it gets ....better! Out on my boat when my boat developed a significant water leak I just happened to hear and it was on a Friday afternoon naturally. I took a video and pictures and with my aft bilge pump on returned to my marina. I called and spoke to Maureen and told her my problem. She would talk to Rob who takes care of my service and get back to me. Being only a short distance away I went to Portside to show the video and my cell phone rang as I arrived at the counter...Maureen was true to her word and Rob was there to help. He knew exactly what happened after I told him and BEFORE he even saw the vid and pictures! My cap on my salt water pump over time had developed a hole from the salt water pressure. No problem he assured me..it was easily fixed and got me the part.... told me what to do and lent me his tools to fix it. The next morning I was on my boat and did the repair...just as he told me. I am so heartened to realize that there still are businesses that dispense exceptional customer care and service. Portside Marine, Pete,Maureen and Rob....a well deserved thank you from a grateful customer.
I have been using Portside Marine for over 20 years. The peace of mind I get while on the water knowing that mechanics of this caliber maintain my boat is immeasurable. The reason I am writing this review now is because they have gone above and beyond for me. Recently, an impending storm was supposed to wreak havoc in my area. It was recommended by local personnel at my moorage that everyone haul their boats. Unfortunately my trailer was out for repair and I needed to haul quickly. I emailed Peter later that evening and got a response within an hour stating that his haul schedule was full but he would fit me in somewhere. The next day I called while on approach and was told that the 1st haul hadnt shown up yet so he directed me onto the lift and pulled me out. He placed me on stands while my trailer was being repaired. Having a knowledgeable, full service shop definitely makes the season enjoyable.
Truly the worst customer service. Long story short, I brought my 15 HP Mercury engine for a tune-up. Returned and never worked properly. I went back over 6 times for follow up. They realized they dropped the ball and stated they would winterize it for free. They proceeded to tell me it needed the carburetor repaired. Maureen at the front desk was very apologetic, however the service repair person called me a f**king jerk. I had the police escort me to retrieve my engine (not winterized). At the police station they stated not the first time we have had to deal with individuals at this particular address. I do not have the time or effort to write these reviews, however I am just trying to save the unsuspecting future customer the aggravation and name calling. I always try to support local small business, but this treatment was completely unacceptable. Peter (the owner?) was obviously embarrassed with the police presence and tried to apologize. I did shake his hand as I did not want any altercation.
This is my sixth consecutive year of storing and maintaining/repairing my boat at Portside Marine. I am extremely pleased with their service and professionalism. Ive used them for servicing the boat during the boating season and for winter storage including winter prep, shrink wrap, and summer startup. I have had nothing but good service & results with them. They have also gone above and beyond in solving issues/problems with the boat. Very good at special requests whether it was getting me in the water early this year even though there was non-stop rain or repairing the walk-through windshield door by putting in extra time that they did not charge me for and coming up with novel solutions for parts that are no longer available. Ive had one of the V8 inboards rebuilt by them and purrs like a kitten now. Rob, Peter, Maureen and the rest have been the best. I highly recommend them and will continue using them for everything.
Super knowledgeable team gets the work on your boat done right.
They saved the rest of our boating season. Need I say more?
The folks at Portside Marine in Danvers did an outstanding job reconditioning my 1999 Pursuit 3000 Express (mercruiser inboards.) They were thorough and professional in all of their dealings with me. My boat was ready on time and is running the best it has since i purchased it used in 2006. They did an extensive evaluation of all power, fresh water, salt water and electrical systems and made all necessary repairs in a timely manner. Based on the work Portside Marine did for me (and my observations of the professional way they treated customers while i was at the facility,) I was very surprised to see any negative reviews here. When I need assistance in the future, Portside will most certainly be my first call. WL
I have been doing business with Portside Marine for 4 years and have been pleased with the staff and service. Rob, Peter and Maureen have always been friendly and knowledgable about all my boat needs. I have never had to worry about winterizing my boat, they took care of everything without any problems or concerns. I cant say enough about Peter, He is fantastic!!!He went out of his way to make the sale of my boat NAUTI GIRLgo fast and smoothly. I could not be happier with my experience and would highly recommend Portside Marine Danvers to anyone! Also, kisses to Jack who greeted me hello.
I always get good service here
