Great people but like any dealer, they literally take forever. I had an appointment all three times. 1st time I got right in, 2nd time it took 45 minutes even though I was the first appointment of the day, and the 3rd time was suppose to be express pick up and I waited over 2 hours to get my turn. In my opinion, they need better communication about the wait times. Not even going to go into how they gave me the wrong car the first time and it didn’t match my paperwork. They really are nice people but plan 2-3 days of hours of waiting to get taken care of.

First time doing business with CarMax and it was an excellent experience. We went to Danvers location with an estimate from their site. Walked out with a check that was $800 more than the estimate. An hour to complete from walking in to walking out a very satisfied customer. If in the market, I would advise to at least check them out.

Overall the actual buying experience was good. Fast and easy. But they sold me a car that left me stranded with a dead battery just 4 days after driving off the lot. Of course this happened on a day when there were no service techs in to change the battery so I had to go buy a new one and am still waiting on the reimbursement they promised to send, granted it’s only been 2 weeks, that couple hundred dollars matters. Also, they were slow to register the car, my insurance company was emailing me for days saying the car had not been registered yet. All in all, it’s a used car dealership. That’s all it is.

The online quote was easy to obtain as was an appointment. We were served quickly at the appointment and offered more for my car than the online quote . The whole process was much easier and successful than I expected. The dealer offered 19K but Carmax gave me 22,700. Highly recommend to get a quote to sell your car there and when the time comes, Ill likely consider buying one from Carmax as well.

Went with my girlfriend to buy a car. first i have to say we transferred the car from Maine to Massachusetts and it went without a hitch and even arrived early! then a carmax saleman named Dallas called us the next day and expedited the paper work so we didnt have to spend a long time when we arrived... he had the car front and center cleaned washed and ready to go! my girlfriend hates dealing with people so the fact that she stayed smiling was a huge plus! i suggest anyone who needs a car from the Danvers area go to carmax and talk to dallas!

The process was seamless. I have to admit I was skeptical of using Carmax. I submitted an online appraisal that asked very detailed questions. I went to the store for the in-person appraisal and the two matched! There were no sales tactics, zero pressure, or literally any hassle. In less than an hour, my car was driven away and I was handed a check. Done. Kind of anticlimactic but a great experience that I would recommend to anyone.

It took a few months for the service department to reach out and make repairs on my car. A main repair that I kept informing them about was the frame rail damage. They told me it would be fixed and repainted. I got the car back today and the damage is still there. Nothing was touched at all

UPDATE: CarMax shipped a car without title, then wasted my time for 10 days giving me incorrect information, lying on the phone and in my face and then proceeded to tell me the title was lost. Its not even the title - Id buy a different car from the lot, but the handling of the process, misinformation (three different representatives gave me three different version in each other presence!). Three hours wasted with wife and kids in the dealership just to get some version of a truth with a promise to call on Monday and actually not calling on Monday. I maybe had worse experiences, but not many.Original review: Not having a good experience. Paid for car shipping, the website showed arrival on Tuesday. I was promised to have a car by Thursday. Nobody calls. I myself call on Thursday. A representative tells me that I should get a call either today (Thu) or Friday. I ask to check with the location. Wait on the line, 10 minutes later he comes back to me and says definitely Thursday or Friday. No calls. I call CarMax again on Friday around 3pm and let them know I strongly suspect that nobodyd call again. The rep reassures me that definitely Id get a call today (Friday). I ask to check with the location and give me a call back. Sure enough, no call back. Its Saturday, the day is almost up and nobody calls.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This is our second time trading in & buying a car and it is by far the best experience compared to a traditional dealership. Salespeople are not pushy at all, super helpful, and accommodating with last minute test drive requests, etc. Both times we ended up buying a different car than we had reserved, test drove a few, and was driving out with a new car in 3-4 hours. How long does it typically take at a dealership?? FOREVER. Then you typically dont get to drive the car home right away- you have to plan another trip back, you know the deal. The experience from start to finish was so smooth and actually enjoyable. Thank you all- especially our salesman- Dallas. He was so nice and helpful, truly made the entire process not stressful at all. I will be telling all my friends and family, thats for sure. & if theres any skeptics out there, I was not incentivized to post a good review or anything- I just truly believe in leaving a good review and spreading the word when I have a great experience somewhere. I needed to sell my 2009 Nissan Sentra, low miles, excellent condition. CarMax online offer was best. CarMax backed-up online appraisal offer at store (took them roughly 20 minutes to verify offer). CarMax then completed all paperwork efficiently (less than 1 hour). I signed-off on the title and they handed me a check. Whole process took less than 2 hours.

Our purchase went so smoothly and so well...not the same for the actual pick up of the vehicle the following day. It took them 2 hours to complete the registration and put the new plates on. No explanation, just an Im sorry when I asked about the long wait. It seemed like the office person, Kingsley, must have been new or lost or something. We arrived happy and excited to get our new car, but, by the time we left, we were aggravated, tired and hungry.

This was the worst experience Ive ever had with a businesses. I was selling my car too them, I already had an offer from them. They told me to drive into their garage area and leave both sets of keys in the car. I asked the worker if I should give him one set Incase the car locks. He said no leave both keys in the car. Well of course the car locked itselft. It took them 30 minutes to open my old 2004 focus. How does it take 30 minutes to open a car door. They didnt even know how to use the door opening tools. I was in carmax for almost two hours because of this and how long the paperwork took. They wouldnt give me the check until they could open the car so I had to sit there and wait for them to figure out how to open it. Im never going back to this place again.

My fiance and I got a car from here about a years ago, had problems with the car since day one, were were supposed to get the car serviced from them during our 6 months free after purchase and they never got back to us, and when we got in contact with them they were giving us dates from when the 6 month period is up. Which is so unfair. They never fixed what was wrong and still dealing with the b.s from the car. Worst service and place to get a car, they dont care about the customer just sales

I would give 0 stars if I could. I own a 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 with less than 27,000 miles on it that I wanted appraised. I did the online quote and it told me that they would love to see it in order to give me a quote. So I set an appointment and went in. When I got there I was asked if I used the online tool, to which I replied yes. He told me to go to the business counter next to him. I did that and was told to go back to the greeting counter so they could check me in. My appointment was at 12pm and I got there at 11:40am. They checked me in and told me someone would be with me shortly. By 12:50pm today nobody even started to help me so I told the boy at the check in counter that I was leaving as I had been waiting for over an hour. He replied “okay”, and could clearly care less. They must think that because I’m a young female my car must’ve been a shitbox since they knew no details about the car I was driving. Their loss, I’ll use Carvana instead as I was already quoted for a very good offer. What a waste of time going into this dump.

Honestly, Im really mad I didnt discover CarMax earlier in my car search process. As a younger female purchasing my second ever car I was super worried about the process of having to look for a new (used) car and not getting swindled. CarMax was the absolute best experience at every touchpoint and with every person I interacted with. It truly is the way car buying should be (and yes, I said that before realizing that was their slogan). But really all cars in their inventory have to meet a certain standard (I believe something like no frame or structural damage / flood damage etc) which already increases my confidence in their selection but then they also let you do a 24 hour test drive so I was able to take mine home and really get a feel for it (more than the dinky 15 minute test drives a lot of places offer) AND have my own mechanic look at it to vouch for the car and its condition. That set Carmax apart for me. From there you also have a 30 day love it or return it guarantee, so it really just reduced the anxiety of the process. The facility was squeaky clean AND open late during the week, and both days during the weekend which is impossible to find at other dealerships. My sales rep was absolutely wonderful and very low pressure (they do not negotiate on prices but mine was priced fairly at market value). I believe they do make commission money on any plans or warranties they sell and they are not required of that, so just be mindful of that if/when you decide to purchase. But overall 11/10 would recommend and will be buying any/all used cars from here in the future. Dont waste your time going elsewhere.

Took over 4 hours to pick my car up and when I almost left without it they said it hasnt been cleaned yet but I took it rather than wait anylonger. The next day the right front tire lost air and filled it 3 times till I took it to tire center near work and they said there was a nail in the right front tire. My rear camera did not work, was told to take it to dealer because its under warranty so Im waiting for an appointment at nearest Jeep dealer. Camera still isnt working.

Didnt know what to expect when I brought my vehicle in for appraisal on 2/6/21. Josh Cole assisted me and was incredible in explaining the process. My car was evaluated, offer was presented, and I accepted right away. The offer was extremely fair and the sign off took less than an hour. I really do not like car shopping, I also just really love the car I have. I went into carmax recently because I felt (begrudgingly) it was time to upgrade. I was helped by Austin. He was excellent, personable and dealt with my dads terrible jokes and antics. (Including letting my dad grab an icecream.) Austin was totally attentive to our needs while still allowing us the space to joke around and look for what might be best for me. Not recommended for first time finance, especially newly moved resident. It looks like from their reviews, most people really only enjoy this business for selling their cars to them. My family had recommended I try them for buying, but it became such a huge hassle. I just moved back to Massachusetts after being on the west coast a few years. I offered to put down half the total of the car. Talked to someone over the phone who wasn’t even on their location, he was from their HQ customer service center. He was very helpful. Got me preapproved and shipped the car from out of state to my local CarMax. They didn’t give me any option to make an appointment once I received notification it arrived. I tried calling them again and looking on their website to book an appointment. Nothing got through. Spent $45 on a cab to the location where the guy helping me didn’t understand that I had a car on hold for me. Had to wait 20 mins which wasn’t terrible. But it wasn’t until he sat me down to “pre approve me” again, even though I already did it over the phone. Then once we got to the end, he told me I can’t test drive it because I don’t currently have insurance (that’s why I’m here to buy a car… I don’t have one) and he also can’t register me because of my out of state ID. I just moved home and live in the area again. He said a new law just passed this February but I can’t find anything online about it. I grew up here and have never heard of not being able to buy a car with an out of state ID. So maybe CarMax is the way to go if you already have a car (with insurance), ONLY live in state, or are selling your car to them. Otherwise, not the place. Biggest waste of time. Wish they would’ve told everyone straight out the gate you can’t buy a car with an out of state ID.

Well to start off my initial experience at Carmax Danvers was awful due to sales rep that I had Mohamed. He was the most unprofessional sales rep I have ever dealt with. We went in to check if the car was ready to be test driven. We test drove the car and was ready to finish the paperwork. He made it more difficult then it should have been making us print the same papers over and over again. He was not only helping us but also another couple there. He left us sitting there without telling us what was going on. The sales manager came over and told us what was happening because our sales rep was too busy either on his cell phone or talking to the other couple. When the approval had gone through we told Mohamed we would pick the car up on Monday. He said ok the car will be ready anytime Monday . Well Monday came and the car was sitting in the same exact place Mohamed had left it Saturday. It was not cleaned or inspected . Diego who made our experience amazing had the car moved to get it ready for delivery. When we got the car the inside was filthy they only washed the outside. The tires and brakes barely made inspection. The service Dept has been wonderful getting my car to where it should have been as far as new tires and brakes. I will be back for my next vehicle purchase but I refuse to have Mohamed help me or anyone I refer to Carmax . He should learn how to deal with customers as opposed to being on the phone every single time.

All other car dealerships are like a money-hungry lions seeking whom to devour, but you dont feel the pressure to buy or that salesperson running back and forth to get a better counter offer from their managers, etc. CARMAX lives up to their motto The way car buying should be. You feel free and you converse with real people. You take your time walking to see the cars BY YOURSELF!, YES! without that salesperson trying to make you buy what THEY think you should buy. They even let you test drive the car for 24 hours! YEAH! We took it home and went back the next day to buy it. We couldnt have been more pleased, this was a paradise we never thought existed. Im DEFINITELY buying all my future vehicles from CARMAX and ONLY CARMAX from now on. Yes! Its THAT amazing! And no, I dont work there, I work in a software company. Im just a really happy customer who just bought a car and had THE BEST experience EVER with CARMAX. I dont think 5 stars is enough, I would give them 12 if I could.

Bought my second CARMAX car in Naples, Florida. Shortly after, moved to Massachusetts’s where a safety issue with the car turned up. Went to CARMAX in Danvers, MA. and received immediate, professional help from Javier, Tokar and Ricardo. They told me that, although CARMAX did not perform the kind of work necessary, they would send the car to a specialist to get it fixed. Three days later my new car was back and in perfect condition with NO CHARGE to me!!! This was my second car purchase from CARMAX and I recommend then without reservation!

I paid $100 to ship a car to this location. I was told vehemently they couldn’t hold the vehicle for 9 days until it was convenient for me to come and pick it up and that their corporate policy was 7 days.A little unfortunate but I understood, so I rearranged my work schedule to come pick it up Friday evening. The Danvers team completely botched my appointment time, and confirmed me for Saturday. When I made it clear that wasn’t going to work, I was working that day and I had already changed my schedule to accommodate them they told me to get back to them with another day in mind. A day later, the vehicle I had paid to ship to the store was no longer available they had apparently sold it so someone else. The salesperson I was speaking to stopped answering my calls and emails and ignored my request to refund the money I had paid to ship the vehicle to their store.One of the single worst and most unprofessional experiences I have ever had. I’d take my chances with any used car lot off the street before I tried Carmax again.
