Had some work done on my Banjo and I was very happy the results. Was done in a timely manner (few days) and at a pretty good price. Would definitely recommend

Alan is awesome to work with. I dropped my guitar off for a setup and got it back a week later and it plays super well now. Cant really recommend enough. Will definitely come back for future services. Shops like AM Guitar Works is the reason why you should support local businesses.

Alan just did a setup on my Takamine that hadn’t been set up or worked on in over a decade, he crushed it. The intonation down the entire neck is perfect, action is nice and low and the guitar finally feels good to play again. Thought the price seemed fair and he even threw in a set of strings for a promotion they’re running. I’ve had guitars set up by some of “the best” in Los Angeles and couldn’t tell you any difference between theirs and Alan’s.I’ll certainly continue bringing my guitars here.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!A friend recently suggested I have Alan with AM Guitar Works service my bass due to some high action and electronic issues. And I can honestly say Ill never take my instruments anywhere else.Alan was extremely professional, kind, and very knowledgeable. He took the time to listen to what I wanted done as well as looked at, and also answered other questions I had regarding services & lessons. The work took less than a week and at a more than reasonable price for how well my bass is now performing and sounding. If youre looking to bring life into that old instrument, or simply get your new one setup. This is the place to go, without question.

I had Allen do some up grades on one of my guitars. He did a great job and learned some new repair trixks of the trade. I will be doing more business there for sure.

Always friendly and courteous. Guitar set ups are relative, depending on what your preference is. I’m used to Paul Munden’s low action setups with perfect intonation, but he’s in Texas now. Paul’s skills with guitars around here is legendary, he was offered a job by Fender guitar because of his skills, so it’s not fair to make comparisons to him. Set ups at AM’s shop have been ok but not great. The price for his set up has always been at the high end of the spectrum. And I found that extra work would be done without asking me first, that I did not ask for, which raised my bill. So started taking my guitars elsewhere but brought my amps into AM.I recently took my fender vintage tube amp in because it would cut out on me off and on. After a few weeks the amp was finally ready. When I went to pick it up I was told the problem was just a loose socket. But Alan decided to do a mod on my vintage amp that cost a lot more money without contacting me first and asking me if I wanted it done. I was told that he is getting out of the amp repair business because it takes time away from his guitar work. I have no problem with that, but when I noticed I have a cricket sound after I got it back home and contacted him to see if he could see if it had anything to do with his mod, he dismissed it and said he told me he used it for teaching sessions after his repair and never noticed the cricket sound so it must be a new problem. And then told me again he doesn’t repair amps.I’ve been a professional salesman for a Fortune 500 company for over 28 years. I went out of my way for my customers and busted a gut to make them happy, and gone the extra mile sometimes at my own expense. Nice guy at AM, but under the surface seems more concerned about the money.

I bought a guitar here recently and I was a bit hesitant on whether it was worth it because of the tendency for local shops (for anything, not just guitars) to have higher prices than chain stores or buying privately, but I could tell immediately that the guitar was actually given an individual check and it played very well without having to do much fine tuning at all. When they said the guitars are inspected and set up, they meant it.
