Was craving for the usual: strawberry puff pastry, mango, peach, coffee cake and crepe, but seemed that we came in a little too late so we only got few things. But the breakfast pizza, coffee cake and crepe are still great as I remembered. So that was satisfying.Lastly since we came in a little late for the day we werent able to pick up the Glorias mousse cake nor the orange cake so we just got one of each of the remaining pastries and asked one of the helpful ladies to beautifully packed them like a cake which was perfect and was enjoyed by everyone. They are always busy and if its your first time here, they really have great pastries so thats never a concern for us.Plus their breakfast menus just enough as well since were not into having a heavy fulfilling breakfast, so if thats your thing, you will not be satisfied here.As always the staff are extremely helpful
One of my favorite restaurants in Davis, especially for breakfast! The pastries are amazing, and I’ve never ordered something I didn’t like. Everything is great quality and rich in taste, but not overly so. Just don’t try to go on a Monday, you will be sad since they are closed.
This bakery is now my favorite hidden gem of Davis! The small cafe/bakery is so quaint with the traditional Austrian designs and the customer service was very good. My family arrived at the business around 9:45 am and they were already sold out of most of their sweet pastries so make sure to get there extra early if you want a full selection! Nevertheless, the food that we were able to order was absolutely delightful. We got a spinach and ham/cheese croissant which were oh so flaky and buttery, as well as the daily special which was an Austrian berry crepe (I think it was called palatschinken?) filled with custard and topped with a tart berry sauce. Their espresso is also especially good so coffee fanatics are definitely in for a treat here. And if the food isn’t enough to motivate you to try this place out, the ambiance is certainly worth checking out. It has a relaxing quiet about the place and classical Austrian music is played softly in the background. Especially on Sundays there are also just so many cute elderly couples enjoying their coffees and it’s just so sweet to see.10/10 would recommend this place to every one I know ♡
Probably the best coffee and pastry shop in Davis. I have a general preference for French style pastries, but the Austrian variants are interesting in their own right. Coffee/espresso is pretty good, outdoor seating is nice too. Hours can be weird, make sure theyre open before you go!
An exceptional experience in European cuisine... Konditorei has the very finest pastry, coffee, and fanciful cakes & tarts of all kinds. Thats not to mention the wide array of delicious house made gelato they have.Do not miss their excellent array of savory breakfast options as well, including their Austrian style pizzas. Yum!My family has found our absolute favorite Davis Cafe. We come here often. The courtyard dining area is lovely, and the service is second to none. A memorable taste of the Alps awaits you.
5 stars for the food, but have to take off 3 stars for wait after I ordered at the counter. I just cant think of a circumstance when it should take 45+ minutes to get a to-go order for 1 when the tables are 2/3 empty
The heavenly aromas of fresh baked pastries and brews greet you in a warm, inviting, and beautifully lit cafe. You are in Austria with the welcoming staff. The rest is delicious enjoyment with good friends at the best cafe and bakery anywhere. I will let the sample pictures do all the pastry talking.
Nice place for breakfast or lunchOwner/head chef needs an understudy
Great local bakery. The fresh pastries and cakes are so delicious. Be sure to get there early they sell out of pastries quickly! This has become a regular spot for me. Highly recommend.
Konditorei is my go to breakfast pastry place. They also have amazing cakes in store, and you can order them as well. They also have chocolates, cookies, some lunch, breakfast options. Everything Ive tried here, Ive liked and Ive tried alot. The breakfast sandwich, quiche, turkey sandwich, cookies, drinks. Everything with a chefs touch. I usually go for a pastry like the almond croissant, or berry danish of some sort, paired with hot chocolate (amazing!) or a chamomile tea. They are also superior quality and for a great price. If you want your choice of pastry, come early before 8:30. They make a lot but theyre also supppper popular sometimes selling their pastry by 9:30 (if you want something else little safer to come later) So come early, come often, family friendly, dine in and patio seating. Bring a book, have a quiet breakfast, bring a laptop during the school year. Bring a date, its cute. Staff is amazing and friendly.
Pastry was excellent. Luncheon menu is somewhat truncated. My ham sandwich was fine,, if somewhat pricy.. Staff are fine.
The pastries are fantastic but the head chef blatantly shouts at and berates his staff of young women in front of the entire restaurant of customers over inconsequential things. This is a common occurrence, as Ive seen it nearly every time Ive been by to pick up pastries. Theres always always new employees every month.Plenty of other places to find good pastries without supporting this kind of toxic work environment.
Outstanding if you love good pastries
Visiting with family who havent been here in years but have good memories. We learned the pastry case is all solid out before 11am on Saturday. But they still had 1 piece of the exact item we wanted. Staff seem stressed and exhausted. One of them told me my total THREE times when I wasnt done ordering; once after each item I ordered. Rather odd. Still, the mocha was excellent with perfect fresh made whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Good chocolate cake. Marzipan loaf a little dry but good.
Delicious coffee and ApfleStrudel. I was able to sit outside on a lovely, enclosed patio and watch the Yanks play on my phone. Service was friendly and quick.
Love this place. Outstanding pastries, beautiful Austrian decor, wonderful staff. Cant ask for more.
A very warm, inviting bakery and cafe in Davis - visited for the first time last week, though I know it is very popular with local folks. Takeout was friendly and quick. Could tell a lot of people were regulars because the staff knew them by name - always a good sign. We got three pastries and a dessert. Our favorite by far was the black sesame raspberry danish. I would go back just for that. The plum pastry could have been more plummy (the plums on it did not have the tanginess one would expect, Ithink they just werent ripe enough). The strawberry pastry with custard was very sweet and delicious. Coffee was good, hot, fresh. I look forward to going back often to try all the items we saw, especially the breads.
The patio space is very pretty in the mornings.
I ordered a Mayors bread yesterday. I told them I would be there a little after 6:00am. She said they open at 7:00am and Mayors bread would be available. I arrived before 7:00am waiting. I asked for my order and they said no Mayors breads were available. SMH
These pastries are better than those I had in Bavaria! Not too sweet, lots of flavor, and great care goes into each individual pastry and cake. I recommend the cinnamon roll with warm vanilla sauce.
Great pastries, and beautiful and delicious looking cakes. My group enjoyed their. Apple croissant, their chocolate croissant. Which has a custard chocolate filling. And their raspberry, black sesame Danish. All were amazing and deliciously flaky. Definitely will go again.
One of the best bakeries Ive been to in the US. The cakes and pastries are every bit as delicious and authentic as the ones Ive had in Vienna and Salzburg. What a gem, tucked away in little Davis.
Great food .very busy but efficient
Such nice people and lovely little back patio! Food was really good and perfect portion!
Authentic European style patisserie. Great variety of specialties not found elsewhere in the Sacramento region.
The pastries are so delicious!! Love the chai tea and the service outstanding.Recommend it highly.
Cool place, love their croissant
This place has delicious pastries and cakes. Also good coffee. There is a small, private patio that is very nice to sit. The service is always friendly. I love this place for brunch
Love this place. It has been owned by the same family since Ive lived in Davis--nearly 30 years. TRUE Austrian Pastry. It is a hidden gem! Everything is delicious. They also make cakes--as far as I am concerned, it is the ONLY place to get a store bought cake in this silly town. Nice quiet place to go for breakfast (mostly pastries) and delicious coffee. Sometimes there is outdoor seating too.
Perfect pastry, will be back for sure Yummy 😋
Overwhelming delicious! So much to choose from that I ended up taking a sample box home. Great service, seating and atmosphere.
Very clean even though it was very busy. Pastries are flaky.
I really like this place, super nice environment and good pastries
Dedicated owners and staff. Best selection of specialty sweets this side of the hemisphere. A must to visit! I live 45 minutes away, but frequently dining there on delicacies.
Best pastries in town! Created by European master who uses only fresh quality ingredients, fruits -- impeccable light flaky crust--truly artistry in presentation, unusual variety you wont find elsewhere! His passion shows & is reflected in his craft. A must try! On busy days the selection wanes later in the day.
Wonderful as always! A great place to meet and have a conversation. The food is fresh baked and as such is fantastic. They do not play loud music and they do not have TV monitors which are overwhelmingly distracting.
Well I didnt know a croissant could be that good.
A preferred site for cafe food. excellent spot to spend time alone or talk business. looking forward to coming back with my friends.
Delicious cakes and pastries, I give them only one star though because of one reason, they dont seem to be respectful of their clients time. It has happened to me twice (very recently June 4 before 6pm), when the website indicated open but when I went there they had already closed! disappointing!
Always good!
This is a must go if you like baked goods. The breakfast selections are limited but if you like old world baked goods, you have to try this place. I went with my wife and we shared different types of pastries. I ate so many that I almost went into a diabetic coma. Lol.
Its Konditorei. Its a legitimate Austrian pastry shop. Its very, very likely youre going to mispronounce the pastry names so dont be afraid to point and grunt. The staff wont judge if you try, but the other patrons will. Also, be prepared for people with various european accents to order dozens of pastries ahead of you. Yes, Konditorei is that legit.
The best bakery for European pastries and cakes. Youll love it.
I cant get enough. Such a sweet little place!
Best bakery ever. I compare every other bakery to this one. It is pricey on cakes but our family splurges for birthdays to make the day extra special. And who needs more things? Eat the best cake instead!
The pastries are pretty darn good, but if you order any hot breakfast dishes from the kitchen youll generally end up waiting for a long time. The options for hot breakfast foods are pretty limited. Still, its a nice place for coffee and pastries.
Konditorei is a Davis jewel. Family owned providing authentic Austrian pastries, cakes, and savories. The chef is actually from Austria! They have a selection of delicious cakes and take pre-orders if you want to make sure you get the one you want. All cakes are shown at their website.Parking is ample.Covid safe. Masks enforced. Outdoor dining ok.
First time there and it wont be last. Excellent food and great service!
The food was fantastic, and the mocha I had was very nice as well. The dining area is somewhat noisy during the busier midmorning. I would recommend, but dont expect a quiet time.
Best pastry and cakes outside of Austria
A TRUE pastry chef...posibly the best in California...
This has the potential to be the best place in Davis, but they don’t reserve their parking! Every time I’ve gone I’ve had to walk from a thrift store many blocks away and it really ruins it because the place is clearly not full and other people are just leaving their cars there.Get a 2 hours sign please!! ❤️
This place and service was great. They are friendly and that the food is great. If your looking for somewhere to eat breakfast, lunch or dessert, stop by this place
A charmingly elegant patisserie off the beaten tracks of Davis. Well prepared traditional pastries are everywhere and theres a lovely array of cakes, both slices & whole, available. Everything is authentically Austrian and goes perfectly with their coffees & teas. You can get a breakfast or lunch meal here, but this isnt really that kind of restaurant. They keep the focus on the baked good, so the menu for meals is smaller but the quality is good and fresh. My friends swear by the soup with the hearty grain bread side, I enjoy the quiches & the pizzas. But really, Im just here for a coffee and a little sweet goodness. Has a patio for outside dining, can be very crowded on the weekend. Service is pretty fast even during peak hours.
The pastries and sweets are just awesome. Unmatched by any other European place. The food lacks variety in Vegetarian options but the Ambience of the place makes it worth the visit. Highly recommend !
The staff are very friendly and helpful. It feels like a nice diner inside. We only had pastry, but it was delicious. My fiance had a plum tart with vanilla sauce. She enjoyed it but wished that the pastry had been a bit crisper. I had a gluten free dessert with chocolate and cherry. Quite tasty.
Great place to settle down and have a snack. Quite pricey though for the portion they serve. However, the overall feel wag great and the staff there was friendly.
The best bakery in Davis, especially you should eat ham and cheese croissant, and any kind of berry croissant with coffee😍🥐☕️It is very calm and peaceful too.Sometimes there is no available parking lot, because because!!!
Actual European pastries, in contrast to sweetened bread dough that is passed off as pastry. Absolutely delicious, very reasonably priced. Several nice tables to sit at. Sehr gut!
I am sure this would be a great bakery, but they clearly have European opening hours... drove by over the holidays, closed for 2 weeks. Mondays are closed, closed after 6pm... if you are not in the area and try to hit this one on your way through, you better take a day off and call in advance.
Always reliable cakes and pastry, best place for marzipan. The breakfast pizzas are tasty, the regular breakfasts are less delicious in my opinion.
An authentic Viennese pastry shop that sells both European pastries and sophisticated dessert cakes, along with coffee and tea and some other things. Its easily the best pastry cafe in Davis, probably the entire county, and possibly the entire Sacramento region. Its also a one-of-a-kind family business.
Really like this place a lot. Unfortunately didnt love their croissants as much as I thought I would. The dessert treats are not overly sweet so theyre great!
This place has really great pastries, but after about 11 am there is a 20 minute line that doesnt let up until 12:15 or so, so get here early! Also be sure to check that they give you the right pastry in your to-go bag, I didnt realize I was given the wrong item until I got home. They had good coffee, and they have soy milk as well which is a plus.
Awesome desserts! Beautifully crafted and reasonable amounts of sugar. A lovely place to take a break.
Here is one of the places I will miss when I go back my home country.
Was there twice on a Saturday last month. Early in the morning when they just opened, and in the afternoon right before they closed. The shelf was full of pastry in the morning, and almost empty by the afternoon. Save two, three slices of cake and maybe two croissants that I bought for next days breakfast. Their quality is on par with the bakery in Pier one of SF.
This is a great little place located away from all the busy downtown joints. Amazing cakes, and delicious coffee. The cakes resemble true Austrian pastries, which is wonderful. Can be a little pricey but its all handmade and worth the extra buck
Exquisite Austrian pastries. Has a good breakfast menu. A good place to get coffee and nice pastries
What a wonderful Christmas Eve morning tradition - beautiful breakfast/brunch, unbelieveably delicious Austrian Pastry Art, charming morning of excellent, live Christmas music. Arrive early. 8-8:15. Gets very crowded with line out the door if you dawdle! Amazing European Christmastime only treats. Lots of homemade and beautifully boxed goody, goody, goodies.
Great place for wonderful pastry! A wonderful place to read the paper in the morning and have some breakfast or lunch. The proprietor, a highly trained pastry chef, can make amazing cakes for your events.
Out of the busy middle of town, out 5th street past the police station you find a bit of authentic Vienna. This is a place to sit and enjoy the company of your family or friends, to have those deep discussions over coffee and the best pastries in town. It is also a great place for breakfast or brunch. You might think that you have to speak German here but in fact, they all speak English.
One of my favorite morning places to eat. Traditional European bakery, if you know Etorres in Sacramento, they both have similar baked goods. Ample seating inside and in their patio. Favorite thing to order is their almond croissant.
This place never disappoints for pastries.
I heard so much about this place and had so many expectations that were not met. Came back three times with people who wanted to go there in a span of 4 years. Although the cakes look good, it lacks of flavor in my opinion. It is advertised as an authentic Austrian place. I dont Austrian food to make sure of it, but I guess I am just not a big fan of Austrian pastries and cakes. Besides that, the location is far for campus or downtown, which also makes it not as convenient to go. If you have not been there, you should go and check it for yourself. My experience may not be yours. 😁
Incredible cakes, desserts, and pastries. The go to place if you are looking for a small and delicious special occasion cake to celebrate with.Note: the kitchen closes an hour before closing time, so arrive earlier if you want a pizza or other made to order item
The food and drinks here are all so tasty, this is a great place to stop for a small breakfast/lunch.
Very pretty pastries! Talented pastry chef here. The chocolate truffles were exquisite!
Quality food is served here. I had their omelet was light and filled with bacon, sausage and ham. It was delicious and the crossaint was flaky. I am definitely taking a cake home.
The best California has to offer. A wonderful experience all around.
Excellent European-style pastries. They also have other breakfast options, but you have to try their bakery products. The coffee was fine, but nothing special. Overall, a wonderful place for a morning stop.
This place has the best pastries in town. My favorite splurge. I recommend going early, they sell fast and your options will be limited. The customer service is great and so is the selection of pastries and desserts.
Wonderful pastries and cakes, gelato, breakfast and lunch menu, friendly service, cozy setting. Love this place!
The building layout is good and the service is very polite. But the coffee and pastries are second rate
I have a new hero and his name is Albert.
Excellent pastries and cookies
