You can get all kinds of hardware you need for home repair here at a reasonable price.

This is one of the largest Ace stores Ive ever seen. They even have a gravel and lumber yard and cut a piece of wood to size. Well stocked as usual but a lot bigger than the Aces Ive been to.

Ive been going to Ace for over 30 years here in Davis. The same thing happens every time. There are one or two people working so hard you cant get your attention, and the rest are always just around the next corner. Mostly, I dont need them so its not much of an issue, but, as usual, I couldnt find a 3/4 pipe strap, even though they had 3/8, 1/2, 1, 1.25, 1.5, and 2 in stock, and you have to travel back and forth from the far corner of the big building to the far corner of the pets area to see everything they have for pipe, something Ive never understood why they arent all together. Pricing is higher that the other box stores, but it saves a drive to winters or woodland. One more star when they out all the pipe stuff together, and another when they hire experienced staff and pay them to stay and be helpful.

This is a large Ace with an excellent lawn and garden section located right in the middle of downtown Davis. There is a public parking lot adjacent to the building.

They down sized to one building a couple years ago at this location and they were open every day during the pandemic. Their selection is great and their strength compared to the big box stores is their friendly helpful customer service.

Had broken my last car key, kind of glued it together, they were able to cut me a new key with much patience and skill, doubtful anywhere else would have even tried. Excellent service!

Great Service with a friendly and smart staff that seem to know before you what you need. The store is small and there is lots of people when Im there and You well be bumping in to people around the store. Definitely worth a few minutes in line at check out. Never had a problem with retuning stuff i thought i needed. Everything you need for your home and gardening.

Always friendly, helpful and there are interesting things to look at that you might not expect. For example, a puzzle of the Yolo county turkeys wandering around Davis. They are very mindful about pandemic safety, require masks and have distancing taped on the ground. Great place to buy plants, pet food or paint!

Just another really good Ace hardware store. Im partial to my Woodland store, but this is a REAL hardware store. Bigger perhaps than Woodland and has a great vibe. Pretty sure they have at least two of everything made since WW2!

Ace is a great local hardware store. Their staff tends to be informative about the items they sell, and can help you find the right item, whether thats a $0.79 bolt/screw/washer/nut or a couple yards of soil (be sure to visit their Rock yard on 4th St for lumber and building supplies.Yeah, sometimes you can get a wider selection or a lower price online, but Ace does have a reasonable selection, as well as good prices. Support your local hardware store so they will be there when you need that $0.79 item right now.

Nicest staff. Needed cane to be fixed with rubber end. They had the part. Manager was so helpful. Made a Seniors Day! Saved a hand carved cane !

As a long time resident of Davis, I have come to rely on decent customer service at Ace, worthy of at least 4.5 stars. However, if I were new to Davis and experienced what happened to me yesterday, I would have given one star. I was waiting in line and asked the cashier if she was open. She reluctantly said yes. I wanted to return an item and purchase a few items. She paused, looked at the item, then me, then sighed like I was bothering her. She asked for the packaging and I said I didnt have it but showed her the receipt. She stood there with an irritated look and said begrudgingly, I have to see the manager about this... Upon her return she shook her head at me repeatedly like I had done something terrible. I then gave her the drywall anchor I wanted to purchase. She asked whats the price? I said I didnt know. She said, well, youd better find out. At that point I was beyond shocked. I told her to forget it, that I would buy one somewhere else, after which I noted her name (Lorna) and went directly to the manager, who said she would tell the other managers and have a talk with her. The thing is, a week prior, I had asked Lorna about returning the item without the packaging, to which she nonchalantly responded that all they needed was the barcode, so just bring the receipt. Thus, her rudeness was not due to irritation over the lack of packaging, but for some unknown reason. Regardless of the reason, if you cannot treat a customer with respect and kindness, you shouldnt be working with the public.

Very friendly and helpful employees

This is a really well-run Ace Hardware Store. Everyone is always really helpful and there are often many staff members on hand. Despite the rush of people gardening lately, they have done a good job of keeping necessary supplies in stock and helping out customers when they can. Public safety concern is high here as well. All staff members wear masks and customers cannot enter without a mask. There is usually hand sanitizer around as well.

On my 5-minute visit today, I bumped into 5 differ people without masks or halfway wearing their masks. One was a vendor who was delivering product. At Ace the ceiling can be low and the isles are narrow. Ace could do a lot more to protect their customers and staff members. As a start, post someone at the entry to remind customers to mask-up.

The customer service is great. I received detailed advice on grout for my backyard patio.

Used to work there briefly, get all my tools, paint, grease, and other building supply products there now. Great folks, excellent service, prices are the only thing holding me from a 5 star rating. Can the blue collar get a break boss???

This is basically THE place to shop for all your hardware and gardening needs.

Everyone was really helpful. & they were the only place we found to have kiddie pools in Fall! We will definitely be coming back here again.

They actually had some things I wanted but wasnt sure I could bye. A replacement hand tightening ring for a kitchen sink drain oh, the old one broke. And 1 inch by 1 and 3/4 in Redwood steak which I needed for a repair job. Very friendly and helpful staff and they have things you wouldnt expect

Good local hardware store but the selection is limited, the price labeling is poor so you might grab 1 product at one price but end up being charged something else because of the messy way they stack products. Some staff cant figure out how to put the mask over their nose; some seem super annoyed at having to deal with customers asking questions. Really iffy if youre going to feel satisfied coming here sometimes.

After my Honda key fob broke, I thought I had to get a replacement from Honda. I was given a $350 estimate to replace the key and program the fob. I was then told by Honda, I could have the key made by a locksmith, but it would still cost about $150 to program it. I decided to go to Davis Ace Hardware to have my key made. Im so HAPPY I did--Patrick and Ken were amazing. They made my key, programmed it in record time, all for $29 (including my donation to Birch Elementary)!!!! I couldnt have been happier with the amazing customer service and outstanding value I received at Davis Ace Hardware and I highly recommend them!!!!

While leaving Davis Ace after a purchase, I noticed new plants had just arrived. I asked Francisco if I could buy any of the plants, but they were not priced yet. I said Id come back later. He offered to put the plants I wanted aside, and called when they were ready. This is typical of the good experiences weve had while shopping here.

I was blown away. They have everything! I bought a coaxial cable adapter, double-sided transparent tape and a cobweb cleaner.

Every time I come in here, the staff ask you what youre looking for right away, and they always know exactly where the thing youre looking for is. This happens other places occasionally, but not every single time like here.

Always find a staffer available to help. More emphasis on hardware now than with housewares/seasonal as they had in the past--a sign of the times and shopping trends.

Convenient stores, with most of what you need. Elderly advisors on repairs are no longer present, which is understandable, if regretable.

Ugh, once a great store with an extensive selection now 1/2 its size and hires nice kids who have absolutely no knowledge of hardware or especially its nursery ( do yourself a favor and go to a real nursery )

This place has it all. Everything hardware related, and more. The prices are better than many other places, including Amazon, on the items that I checked. I doubt one can get better value for money. The service is good as youd expect, and the staff is happy to get you where you need to be.

I love this place, but a little overpriced in my opinion. Too crowded and small. Ill rather go to the ACE store in Woodland.

One of my favorite hardware stores. I have rental property in Davis and would 10x rather stop & shop here than deal with the closest big box store. Very helpful staff, quick in and out. The staff helped me with my deadbolt lock issue. It would have been very easy for him to say, nope, cant fix it, you should buy a new one, but he didnt. He spent 15 min working in it and saved me $20.Highly recommend.

The store is shrinking. I loved the kitchen area and its gone now. Last time I was buying plants, the person working the register didnt know how to work the registerI am updating my review as of 2021:. I think this store has improved immensely by shrinking. Its a great place to shop.

OVERPRICED ON EVERYTHING!

Nothing special about the shop itself, you can find basic hardware here. You can find it at other hardware stores too. However, I will likely never set foot in this place again because I heard of a very unfortunate thing the owner might have done, namely that they sent letters to their employees trying to coerce them to vote a particular way in a national election.

You have to like a classic store like Ace Hardware in Davis. My wife and I browsed the store a few weeks ago after enjoying lunch at one of favorite spots, Tres Hermanes, which is right down the street. Found furnace filters at buy 2 get 1 free ! Friendly staff and I love the fact the have the pull out drawers of fasteners for that special project you want to complete. A week later or so, we received a 5.00 off card to use during our next visit. They were able to track us with a phone number from our long time Truckee location. We were quite pleased with our time in the store and thete our lots of fun things to see. The only down size is the narrow isles, which is to be expected in a store of this tenure. We will be back and enjoy visiting the merchants in downtown Davis during the weekend and the small town feel. It really is a short drive from our house in a classic area of Sacramento.

This particular clerk doesnt believe in saying thank you. I find this unprofessional and unfriendly.

Great customer service as usual but too crowded for me today. and the one thing I was going to buy from the sale book is out of stock. Ill have to go back day after tomorrow to get one.

Great employee especially the nice guy with the red hair. Didnt look at his name tag if he even had it facing customers, some employees name tag thats facing the opposite way, so you cant report them in case something goes wrong.

They discriminate the disabled! I was just attacked by a worker because a customer said I was smoking too close to the their door, I was 20 feet away as the LAW dictates, a blonde male employee with a dark shirt on told me I had to move 50 feet from the building and told me I was not allowed to stand the regulation 20 feet away. I’m confused why ACE Hardware employees don’t comply with federal law and attack potential customers finishing a smoke the legal limit from the doors? Very disheartening. They can’t even follow federal laws.
