Best euro shop in Denton county. Took a 15 year old BMW in to have all sorts of things refreshed. James & John really know their stuff. Honest guys that won’t sell you anything that isn’t needed and do what they say. Their labor rate is more than fair for a full shop with all the latest tech, and the work is high quality with no shortcuts. They make sure it’s right before they push it out the door. I’ve only had a few dealings with them but they’ve earned my trust and business.

I took my Audi in for routine maintenance and for a strange noise it made. They took it in and inspected it and found nothing wrong with the car, and then charged me ZERO DOLLARS!! Denton European took the time out of their day to inspect my car for FREE! I am amazed at the honesty and professionalism of Denton European. Ive taken my VW Tiguan to several reputable area auto repair shops for various issues in the past, and the bandaid would eventually fall off. THIS place is different! Ever since Daves closed, Ive been stressed over finding another shop when I needed repairs that were above my pay grade. As a first time customer, they were more than fair with their price and they went over and above. This feels like a shop I can trust, which is far more than I can say for the other VW shops in town.

This review is for Denton European. I set up a transmission fluid replacement on my Passat with this shop. Upon dropping off my car I talked to Jason and we had a conversation about the fluid capacity of my transmission and how much old fluid I could expect to be swapped out with new. He told me somewhere around 70 percent due to not being able to access the fluid in the torque converter. I was aware of this and was fine with the 70 percent fluid exchange.Picked up my car after hours and called the next day to ask for an invoice. Upon receipt of the invoice it showed 3 quarts were replaced. So I called Jason and we had a lengthy back and forth about the actual capacity of the transmission, which he said was around 7 quarts. So instead of 70 percent we were actually closer to 40 percent fluid exchange. I feel very strongly that $186 for 3 quarts of oil is not a good value at all.During the call with Jason he offered to give me a full refund to make me happy. I countered instead with just refunding me $50-$60 since they did replace some of the fluid. He said he would think about what was fair and get back to me. I received a call a couple hours later and he said he had made the executive decision to not refund any money. So he went from offering me a full refund, to my more than reasonable counter-offer of $50-$60 refund, all the way to withdrawing any sort of refund offer altogether.To sum it up, Jason, who by the way told me during the initial drop off that he had worked for VW for several years, should have been a lot more familiar with the transmission fluid exchange process on my 09G transmission to give me the right info upon drop off, seems to have very little knowledge of this particular service and even less knowledge of how to treat a customer that was being extremely reasonable in their expectations.Im sure the response from the owner will mention that when we spoke about the overall capacity of the fluid in the transmission at drop off he told me he wasnt certain but thought it was somewhere around 10 quarts but we didnt have time to look it up. He will probably fail to mention that he did quote the 70 percent fluid exchange, however, even though he admitted to me on the phone that that is what he said and that he probably shouldnt have given me that number up front.EDIT - REPLY TO OWNER: I did forget the part where he offered a $50 credit toward a future service. You also reminded me that when I told him that I wasnt going to bring my car back he made a smarmy remark to the effect of oh, I thought you maintained your car. Im glad you brought that up.Hope those looking for a shop to service your car reads this and decide to go elsewhere. Not impressed with their knowledge in their supposed field of expertise and even less impressed with their customer service. Double whammy when trying to run a successful business

They did good work with the OEM parts I requested. Only weird thing I noticed on the bill was that they charged half an hour labor to change a light bulb (nearly fifty bucks).I can change that same headlight bulb (one handed) in about thirty seconds.So how much else of the $1700 bill was padded?I was a self employed motorcycle mechanic for 20 years, and I never gouged anyone like that... We really do care and try extremely hard to treat everyone fair.We do our best to be not only honest but the most affordable and professional automotive Repair around. There was a mistake made and I’d love to show you how.I pride myself at never gouging anyone to the point if you look at your invoice you will see that the evac and recharge labor is 1.0, book time is 1.4 and we know that in your case that’s too high and we edit the times like this to be fair.To explain how I even made the labor mistake, if you will recall we were having an issue with the labor/invoice software that day when you came in and I was waiting on it to reconnect. Not even an hour or so earlier I was trying to ad the bulb replacement and I was unable to look up time do to the system having problems. In an attempt to get the Labor time I researched head lamp labor, and the labor I used was for the assembly not the bulb. For that I am sorry, it wasn’t until I read your review I went back to see how I would have made this mistake and remembered that day and trying to get it back to you before your trip.

After my first experience with they guys at Denton European, I highly recommend them. They are accommodating and friendly. Theres no B.S. They dont try to sell you things you dont need. I dont take my car anywhere else anymore because I know that I can count on John and his crew to keep my old grandpa of a car safe and functional on the road. The staff are so kind and knowledgeable, and go out of their way to make sure that things are properly taken care of. I cannot say enough about how great our experience has been with Denton European Auto! John is a total class act and I could not be happier with my experience. Did a great job repairing a wheel bearing in my 2007 Chrysler for a very reasonable price. Dropped it off in the morning and got it back in the same day.

When Mini of Plano closed I needed to find somewhere for service that had a key reader. They were able to perform an overall regular service checkup and maintenance within a few hours. Very professional and affordable offering tips without pushing ANY extra unnecessary services. Even though all I needed was an oil change, they followed up with a personal text to ensure my satisfaction. I truly appreciated their professionalism. Glad I found my new service team! This place is wonderful. They fixed up my A/C on a real tight timeline (same afternoon I came in, needed to leave Denton that night). Very happy that they could deliver in terms of the fair price that l was quoted and the finish time that they had estimated. Super helpful and polite staff. They were friendly enough and willing to work with my weird schedule, but thats the end of my good review. I was quoted outrageous prices to fix the front rotor on my wheel. Then when I called back, they had improperly entered my name and number so they lost my info, then kept referencing the wrong tire. I didnt feel comfortable getting work done there. Sorry guys. Get a receptionist.

Daves was highly recommended to me by my landlady/roommate when I first moved to Denton in 2015. The very first time I called for a service, they spoke to me on the phone about the problem with my car and managed to have me bring it in so they could take a look, even though they didnt have an appointment available! They were so kind and accommodating and helpful. Daves is the only mechanic I use and they are kind, professional, honest, fairly priced, efficient, and understanding. 10/10, highly recommend!

John Dodson & Jason Doshier (sp?) and their crew took care of me today. Needed new spark plugs installed. Brought them 6 new plugs and within 2.5 hours my truck was ready. There arent many instances where I spend $1,000 on car repairs and am actually happy about it, but when that repair Is done by John and the team at Denton European Car Repair - you are always happy knowing that you didnt get taken advantage of and that your car will run like the day you drove it off the lot. Not only is the amount less than any other place will quote you, but you can have peace of mind that the work will be top notch and that they arent trying to pad your bill with unnecessary things. Since I drive a VW, most of my cost is in labor since it requires a complete dismantling to get to every single part - and I have peace of mind knowing that Denton European Car Repair is the one doing this to my turbo. I took my BMW M4 a blower motor on the air conditioner. They took 3 days to fix it. But I understand the problem. They are so busy because they are so good. They need to be in a bigger place with more mechanics. They do really good work they were really inexpensive for what I needed done. I have no hesitation in taking my car back. But I will make sure I have more time before I take it next time.

Daves Foreign Car is creative in providing solid, cost-effective solutions to problems. They seem knowledgable enough to know the actual source of my Volvos problems, which has saved me a great deal of money. I have yet to come back twice for the same issue, unlike many other places Ive used. They schedule appointments so you dont have to be without your car while it sits lifeless on the lot, and are enjoyable to work with.

Previously, I had 1 star for this shop. The reason I switched from 1 star to 5 star is that they have a friendly and cool guy in the front desk. Obviously, having a cool guy in the front desk doesnt guarantee them a 5 star. They earned 5 stars because they have a very good service, they are quick and responsive and do their job very good. They care about customer and give the best service in the town. I have been to other shops too, but the way these guys deal with customers, they way they make their customers feel comfortable, and the way they price their services are really good. It wont be a lie if I say that they are the cheapest, yet best service provider in the town. I was here to fix my brakes. The brake pads and rotors were worn out and I wanted them to be fixed before I head back to South Dakota. The mechanics (The Boss) gave me a head up about the caliper. The calipers were so jammed that he said they might break if he tries to undo the bolt. Since, I needed the brakes be fixed I say okay. Unfortunately, the calipers broke. Them guys were quick enough to scan through different shops in the town to find the right part. They did and finally I got my car fixed. It was because of them that I could drive safely back to South Dakota. You guys are awesome. Thanks!

I recently visited Daves for some maintenance work on my 03 VW Passat. The staff is friendly and professional, and the entire time I felt as if they were actually listening to what I was saying (which is more than I can say of some other auto shops in town). Competitive pricing on parts and labor, and the maintenance was done in a timely manner. If you need work done on your foreign car, make Daves your first stop -- you wont regret it.

This is my first time owning a car that I cant just take to a normal place to get an oil change, and I dont have time to sit at a dealership or the unlimited funds to pay for a full day of captivity while they change my oil. So all of that led me to the World Wide Web where I stumbled across this gem of a place. Id emailed the night before asking if I could drop my car there the next morning and they said that was fine and theyd take me to work as well. Unfortunately, traffic from East Dallas to Denton had other plans for me, so I didnt make it over there until around 1pm. Both office guys (who I later learned were the owners) were out, but one of the mechanics said you typically had to have an appointment but that if I could drop it and come back hed be glad to get it done for me. I dropped it, went back to work and came back around 530 to a well oiled Audelia the Audi. The owners were there when I went back and were telling me they were both former dealership guys (one a Volkswagon and one Audi) who left to start this shop, so clearly they know what theyre doing. Not to mention I always feel better about supporting a local business vs a dealership or chain. So to all the females out there who drive cute Audis or VWs but have been living the lie that a dealership is the only one who can do anything to your fancy pants car, live that lie no longer and let this place bring you into the light.

Great service and fair price

I brought my Mini to Dave for a second opinion and he helped me in every way he could. He even looked for recalls. The car had multiple issues in the same general area that could cause multiple sensors to go off. He took a step approach and fixed one thing waiting to see if replacing the other parts was necessary. It turned out to be one part needing replacement. From a $3000 estimate from another mechanic shop I ended up fixing the problem for $600. Dave is a straight shooter.

Because my car required only a minor repair, which meant not a high price, they chose to leave my car in their lot for TEN DAYS without doing anything to it. Then when I said I was getting a tow truck to take it elsewhere, only then did the owner offer to do anything about it -- and for a $50 diagnostic when he knew perfectly well what was wrong with it.

Ive gone here for a couple of years with my boyfriend who has an Audi but was never able to take my own car until now finally when I have a VW! Im telling you guys, it is worth getting a foreign car just so you can take it to this place

The two owners are very organized, professional, and helpful. My 2010 VW Jetta couldnt hold a charge and I went to two other mechanics before them. The first mechanic didnt show up to our appointment and the second told me the problem was with the on board computer not telling the alternator to charge the battery, which is just crazy. Denton European had me in and out. They listened to me and kept me informed of everything they were doing. I could tell from the beginning they were subject matter experts. If youve got a VW, dont take it anywhere else. Im not.
