Best place in DFW to learn about film cameras and make a purchase. I always walk away feeling like I learned something or found some unique body/lens that I couldn’t find anywhere else. Definitely recommend!!

Service was horrible. I took film to get developed and they never told me they develop it digitally, nor that they only did B&W. So when I came to pick up my photos I was expected them printed(as normal) but they handed me a disc with my films. I told them this was never explained when I dropped them off. The staff member just told me, sometimes that happens. as the staff member who I dropped off the things to was hiding in the corner. I was not able to review my photos before I purchased them due to them being digital, or else I would have noticed they came out really blue due to them using the B&W process and not the correct process with Color film. I will admit, they had great photography stuff, but they need to improve service, respectfulness, and explaining things. They also keep all the photos on their laptop, which I was uncomfortable with.

I was quoted an amazing price for fixing my Canon Ae-1 and when I arrived they told me my issues were a simple fix. They tightened and clean my camera in about 5 minutes, made some recommendations for a new lens and sent me on my way without a charge. I appreciate the honesty in not charging me for the repair. Ill definitely be back when I need more help!

What an awesome shop. If you’re looking for the latest digital camera, this isn’t your place. If you’re looking for any kind of film camera—or information and camaraderie—you’ll feel right at home. The walls are lined with everything from Kodak Brownies to Polaroid instants (the real ones) to staple manual SLRs to even a small wall of the last auto-focus models before everything went digital. The crew is friendly and experienced, and they can help you find what you’re looking for. On weekends, expect to find a few people hanging out. They carry a small variety of 35mm, 120, and instant film and can provide black and White developing service.

One of the last photography stores around. Lots of interesting cameras to look at, and an extremely knowledgeable staff that always takes the time to answer my questions. Picked up some cheap glass for my Minolta XD-11, grabbed some film (it lives!) and even had my camera repaired while I was there. My only complaint? I wish it was open on Sunday. Love this place.. Thanks for existing!

Im disappointed that they dont keep shop during there posted hours. This is the second time Ive come on a Saturday and they are not open. No one is even in there to answer a phone.I finally got in. Its worth the wait. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I was in and out quickly. Reasonable pricing and enough variety for a novice like myself. :)

Im glad Denton has a camera shop (support local!), but theyre just okay. Took film there to get developed and scanned, and I was told 2-3 weeks for it to be finished up and I would get a text. I wasnt in a rush, so no problem. A month goes by and no update, so I go to check up on the process; still not scanned. They scanned it for me that day though, which I appreciated. The scans were not the best. Got them on a CD and theyre subpar JPGs, which is fine if youre just into some quick and dirty scans. If you really care about the quality of your scans, I would find somewhere else to get them scanned or scan them yourself. Also, I got the negatives back, which was cool. Not sure how I feel about the place, nothing is spectacular about it and nothing is inherently wrong with it. Its definitely worth checking out if youre a camera nerd since theres TONS of cameras and lenses. But I wouldnt go in expecting too much.

The owner of this store is top notch. He has helped me with my camera countless times and has saved me from spending a TON of money to fix it. I cant recommend this place enough. They also have a huge selection of film cameras and film. Dont forget to check this place out during the festivals! Sometimes they have cool cameras set up to take unique photos.

Walked into the store to get a gift for my sister. The guy working sat in a chair the entire time talking to someone on his phone. I proceeded to walk around the store for another 10 minutes giving him an opportunity to end the phone call or simply acknowledge that I was a customer in his store waiting to be helped . I then stood at the counter for another 5 minutes an listen as he continued to talk on the phone. Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced, I never write reviews but his inability to simply acknowledge me was outrageously rude.

I called to confirm that they developed film at their store. The guy responds with sort of a grunt, not signifying a confirmation nor denial. I respond by asking if he could clarify what that sound he made meant, and then he responds with a half-hearted “yeah.” I then go on to ask him the “estimated time for the completion of the development, and he once again answers as if he doesn’t care whether he gets my service or not. He says, “eh, I don’t know. I’m working on [a back log of film] so maybe about a week or two . . .”. Keep in mind that the tone of his voice mixed with his lazy wording is what gave me this impression. I mean, come on. If you’re going to provide a service at least pretend like you care. Why would I support a local business that shows no signs of pride or concern for their potential customers? Unfortunately, I don’t know many store in the area that develops film. But I refuse to give my money to a person who doesn’t care about, well, anything it seems.

They had a better selection of the high end gear I was looking for, and at better prices considering the quality, than the big New York stores. He had a couple of very clean and even mint rangefinders that are very hard to find in good condition. He was very patient as I checked out his gear. I look forward to visiting again, talking shop and picking up something some toys!

Denton Camera Exchange is an actual haven in Denton for camera needs! Walking into the store and being able to just talk to Armand about troubles Im experiencing with my DSLR is so much more accessible than going to a store that may even charge me for just a consultation.I was having trouble with my camera not picking up audio from the external mic I was plugging in. I googled it, asked video friends, even went to geek squad at Best Buy and everyone kept telling me there must be something wrong with the camera and left me with no solution. After hours of searching stores and online for help, I went to DCE and Armand said he would scope the internet and tinker with it overnight. Especially being on deadline for work, I was desperate! Not even two hours later he sends me a message saying he figure it out. I picked it up in the morning, tested it and was so gracious.Denton Camera Exchange is truly a lifesaver. Trust me when I say before you go to an expensive repair shop, take your camera to Denton Camera Exchange because Armands will to help you out will save you so much money.

I went there for a good Nikon lens to invest in for my Nikon F2. When they gave me the only good Nikon lens they had, it was completely scratched out in the rear element. When I told Arman about it, he got angry and said I should leave. Ive gotten close to the same treatment before when I came for 110 cameras, selling my old cameras, camera bags, batteries, and numerous other things in the past year. The other guy there probably doesnt know whats going on when I ask him questions about the gear, film, or things Im looking for. This place only sells gear that was donated to them, and upcharges film, cameras, lenses, and whatever else they have prices to a point where Id rather buy on eBay or online stores. Its a shame too because I really want to support local, but these guys are not giving me any options as a low income college student shooting photography to vent my stress.

I came in one day to buy some 35mm film, but found the only employee sitting behind the main desk on his phone. He didnt even look up, nor did he greet me when I said hello. When I finally asked about the film he was condescending and made it seem as if they barely dealt in film. During the entire experience he did not even move from his chair to show me where the film was, rather he looked up and nodded in the direction of it just before putting his nose right back into his phone. Terrible experience. For a shop that is so niche, its truly unnerving to have such an awful experience and such little help for someone just beginning the hobby. I will never shop here again, as there was already such little keeping me away from buying online.

If youre trying to develop 35mm just go to CVS or Walgreens. Its way cheaper and they give you prints, scans, and development for $15. Here they charge $8 to develop, $8 more for scans, and $12 just for prints. Not worth the price.

The manager at the camera store is absolutely great. I bought a medium format camera from a couple weeks ago and when I took it back to school it stopped working and I had ruined several rolls of film. I took it back to the stairs and the manager cleaned the whole camera out for me, fixed parts that weren’t working and also gave me a whole box of film for inconvience purposes. I would say if you are looking for an awesome camera store to definetly check this one out. You won’t be dissappointed.

The owner of this establishment is extremely unprofessional and I was verbally attacked during my last visit. Up until my last recent visit, I had encountered only positive results at DCE. When I dropped off some film two months ago, I was informed that it would take a while (he didnt know how long), but that he would call me when it was ready. He took my phone number and I left. I waited patiently, hesitating to call because I didnt want to be a bother if it was not finished yet. Finally, after 2 months, I called and was told it had been ready a while. When I asked why no one had called me, I was given the excuse that they were busy and didnt get to it. So, when I went it, I mentioned it calmly again, during which time Armand proceeded to get angry very quickly, yell at me, and call me sweetheart sarcastically and tell me not to tell him how to run his business when all I did was say that it would have been nice if someone had called me when that was what I was told would happen. When I finally gave up the argument (I had not yet raised my voice) he continued verbally harassing me until I informed him that he was the only one talking anymore. This establishment is run very unprofessionally, and the owners are very disrespectful towards their Customers.

Wanting to support a local camera shop, I dropped off my one roll of film to be developed. I was told it would take two weeks, which is a pretty long time for development, but I didnt mind. I stopped by the shop two separate times to check on the progress of development. Both times I was promised It should be done by next week. On one of these visits I brought along a friend who purchased a film camera, which ended up ruining the rolls of film he put through it. Almost two months go by and I finally go to the shop to find out they havent even began to develop my film. I ended up asking for my undeveloped film back. After the horrible customer service and rude comments from the owner of the shop, I wouldnt give this shop a cent of my money again. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to this shop; please make the drive out to one of the handful of reputable camera shops in the DFW.
