The place looks legit, but it is a scam - the waiters look who they can scam and overcharge. If you are not a local - beware of added extra charges on the receipt - literally higher prices for food than on the given menu. Yes, the receipt has higher increased prices than those from the menu. I ordered Campfire hot chocolate from the given menu $2.99. We were charged $4.25 on the receipt. Waitress Eli said the cafe is changing prices and the correct ones are reflected in the QR menu scan, which still was $3.50. So, why are you letting me order from an outdated menu without telling me there might be price change (fishy) and when I checked the QR code - prices are still lower than what Eli charged me initially! Eli took off that extra charge when asked about it and never came back to the table.Food was tasteless, Pa beef steak is flat taste-wise, pancakes specifically ordered with chocolate chips had probably 4 chocolate chips on them - the cafe really spoils you with those chocolate chips...Truly below average, flat bland tastes. Peobably the worst place weve eaten in Texas. But overcharging people is outrageous and actually is a crime.
My server Madison was very nice, helpful with menu suggestion and attentive.I ordered the Squatter and it was a perfect amount of food to start my day. Egg, bacon, french toast and a side. Everything was great and the french toast was delicious with fresh strawberries. This was my second visit here and won’t be my last.
This local denton brunch spot is phenomenal for the price.Huge portions of delicious food. I enjoyed the Ritas tacos with eggs, hash browns, jalapenos, salsa, queso, and sour cream. The chicken fried chicken was good fresh. I recommend splitting it so there are no leftovers. The french toast was a sweet treat to finish the meal. Not a huge fan of the hot chocolate, but the whip cream on top is heavenly.Our waiter, lance, was polite, prompt, made great suggestions for our meal, and checked on us frequently. Made the experience so much better for our first time there.I highly recommend trying this place for brunch if in Denton.
Ive been visiting this restaurant twice per year for the past 4 years, and their food is consistently delicious! I ordered french toast for the first time in my life, and I was not disappointed! Their Almond-Crisp batter provides a nice texture and keeps the toast from getting completely soggy. This french toast is part of their Gold Fields menu item.
The kitchen service was very fast and convenient. The menu had a great selection and was very easy to read. The crew members were very friendly, helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable. The business was very clean; and had a fun western style atmosphere. The food was accurate, hot and delicious. It was a very good experience. I will return.
Extremely disappointed with the service here. I took my friend from out of town here and the host literally didnt say a word to greet us or even look at us when we walked in and started talking to him. He didnt tell us to follow him to a table so we didnt even know if we were supposed to, but we did. Then when we got to a table he still had his back to us and knocked on the table and walked off. Zero words were spoken. That was by far the worst experience weve ever had with a host at any restaurant. Our waitress was nice, but the food took a solid 30 minutes to get and they were slow as it is was a Monday. Couldnt find her to ask, so we asked another waiter that walked by if he wouldnt mind checking on our food for us and he barely said a word, came back and said itll be like two minutes and walked off. Five minutes later the food came out cold. At that point we didnt care to bother mentioning it. My husband and I have been here before and liked it, but after this experience, we wont be coming back.
Good food, good service. Server was helpful with gluten free options. All orders came out exactly as ordered. Passing through town, would try again if in the area.
The atmosphere was nice. I know that customer service has suffered with the coronavirus. I am aware of that but we were there for an hour and half for two people and our food tasted like it had been sitting awhile before we got it. My husband got his food and they messed up on my breakfast taco.
Wrangler - huge breakfast platter with everything you could ask for only $13! Came with with gigantic pancake and biscuits with white cream gravy and ended up taking half home to eat later for lunch because it was so fulfilling!Farmhand omelette with fresh fruit as the side - delicious egg white omelette packed with spinach, mushrooms and chicken! Perfect protein packed healthy option and tastes absolutely delicious!Strawberry Belle French Toast - I got this a la carte so it was a smaller portion but oh my gosh it was very fluffy and not too overwhelmingly sweet! Will def get again!!Awesome service, will definitely come again!

Huge selection of down-home hearty menu items. Food portions are generous and staff is friendly and accommodating. Prices are moderate for the amount of food you get. Consider splitting a meal. The Air Conditioner is cranked up high, and I usually want a sweater in this place. Depending on when you go, you might have to wait, but its well worth it!
The Oldest Cafe of Denton redefines homegrown country goodness! My wifes Pioneer plate included two giant flapjacks that were fluffy and moist. The flawlessly prepared fried eggs, bacon, and country potatoes made her feel like she was having a ranch style skillet meal on the ranch! My Mugwump crispy country french toast brought back delightful memories of eating breakfast with my Paw Paw before we headed out to tend the houses we boarded on his old ranch. Nostalgia abounds, and flavors delight, hopefully youll eat at OWC tonight!
Fantastic food and MASSIVE portions! At first glance when looking at the menu you may find it somewhat pricy. However, the amount of food you get for that price is well worth it in both dollar value and flavor. Be prepared to ask for take-out boxes. Their chicken fried steak is delicious, and theyve got a pretty tasty hot chocolate as well. Definitely a place to keep in mind for a Sunday brunch!
I found myself a new favorite breakfast spot! Im new to Texas and this is as close to what momma makes as you can get. Everything came out as we liked it. Prices of the food are VERY good and portions are more than fair. Excellent.... love it! Chicken steak is huge and perfect. Burgers are really good with their bacon. Kylie and Alondra are great severs.

Theres always a wait in the Denton location so its best to get in line and put your name in the wait list (usually 1 to 2 hr wait). To start off we recommend for sure getting one of the ice coffees. The waiter was nice. The establishment is nice. The food was great. And a nice variety. The Chicken fried steak was the best Ive had in a long time. And the gravy was excellent. Told my son he has to try this place. Definitely will be back.
We’ve tried stopping here many times but there always seem to be a long line of people. Which tells me this place is great. Finally we was able to stop and get in within reasonable time. Once seated our sever Veronica was on point; she was courteous, friendly and personable. Wife had the Mi Migas with hash brown casserole. She really enjoy it and the hash brown casserole was creamy and cheesy, really good. I had the Coosie skillet; YUM, it was scrambled eggs with cheese with chopped bacon, sausage and ham on top served on biscuit and gravy. This is fantastic and highly recommend this dish. Highly doubt you could go wrong with any food item.

Best place to eat in the city! Whether you want breakfast or lunch they have it all. Pancakes the size of the sun & the most deliciously seasoned grilled chicken I’ve ever tasted! Don’t forget the okra, mmmmm I’m hungry again just typing this!
This place was pretty good! Good food, fast service and for the most part pretty clean. Although they need to work on cleaning their silverware better. And I wish that they had more low carb options on the menu.. low carb pancakes would be great! But other than that I have no complaints 👍
This place has become a tradition for our family on Sundays (come early to beat the crowd/waitlist) and we always have great service! And this last weekend we went, we got Erin and she was amazing! She knew when to check on us, kept our waters filled and had a great sense of humor! Can’t wait to visit again tomorrow!
Came for a midday lunch with Farmer, first time. We had a great host who patiently accommodated us with a booth. Our server was friendly and gracious and helped us get a menu for the new Conestoga coffee bar. Farmer got a mocha and I got the pumpkin spice latte, both of which were big and delicious.The menu is amazing, so many great options and breakfast all day. We took our time going over it and our server was knowledgeable and helpful for making a choice.Farmer got the chicken tenders and a salad, while I went for the french toast, choosing the Mugwump.Both dishes were cooked just right and delivered promptly. We gave it our best try, but I brought half of mine home in a box to the kids. (& They devoured my leftovers like they were fresh!)The decor is fun and there is a lot to look at and enjoy. Everyone was friendly and also busy tidying up as they went, making sure to keep the tables ready and stocked.We really enjoyed coming during the week, as we can tell from the benches outside, its a popular place at times! For us, walking in and having lots of space to get seated right away is the best, but this place is good enough to wait in line. Definitely recommend!

The food is straightforward and with all the classics. Its good food and you get what you expect. The wait here can be long sometimes during rush hour.You get generous portions of food, which is a huge plus.I wish they ventured out just a little bit and got more creative with the food. I like the healthy option on the menu, but I would appreciate it even more if we could see caloric numbers on everything on the menu. The pancakes were a little dry and the lack of variety on syrups was a little disappointing.4/5. Good, but not very exciting as one would expect out of brunch. Very affordable though!

A military vet came in riding his Harley kind of sit down and away from me and I bought his breakfast too didnt even let him know I just told the waitress put whatever he gets on my tab so make me feel good. It WAS good...I like their decorations and all their savvy sayings on the walls... Only thing was that it was pricey... Especially if you dont have an appetite of 3 persons.... But plates were big.If youre not a huge eater, this may not be the best place for you to eat...
Their food is amazing and huge portion sizes. Service is usually pretty good.Their online ordering is horrible. They need to go though the online ordering to see everything that isn’t working. For example, Rita’s Tacos says it requires 4 fixins, however you can only choose 2. Same issue with their Grubhub online ordering. Seriously, fix the online ordering please.
We really enjoy coming here! They have delicious pancakes of all different varieties, and many other options. The coffee bar is excellent, too, and so convenient to get a fancy coffee to have with breakfast!

The best part was the ultra thin grilled to toasty perfection English muffin. I got the home fries. He got the hashbrowns. Each were delicious and crisped perfectly.Delicious. Best Ive had yet.The staff are phenomenal. They know the menu. Friendly. They are on it when it comes to needing extras. They top off your coffee in a flash.We ended up ordering the cinnamon pancake as well. It was drop-dead delicious. The food was good. However the service was not. I guess something happened to the ticket system. Our food didnt come out at the same time. We were missing items from our meal. They had to keep coming back asking if we got everything. My son never got any of his meats with his breakfast. But he was ok with that since he ordered a huge meal. Not very busy, not sure if they were short on staff. Had to ask 2 different people for a refill on a drink, still never got one. After waiting 15 minutes I finally got our server to bring me another drink. I hate giving a low score like this of the service was better definitely would be a 5. I am sure we will try this place again when we come back to visit family again.
Yesterday was my third time eating at old west, but the best service I have had yet. Houston was very nice and quick to assist with anything we needed. He had a lot of tables but still provided great service, and made sure drinks were full. Also a great personality.
Their pancakes are so delicious and cake-y. I dont know what magic they put in them. 😋😋😋 Also their biscuits and sausage gravy are absolute perfection. Id have it a gazillion times if I could. Our server was an absolute delight too. Very polite. I like how everyone works together here. Its so nice to experience. Thankfully they require face masks still 👍🏿👍🏿
One word of advice. Dont wear a belt!Old West Cafe is known for their hearty meals- and when I say hearty what I really mean is gut busting delicious servings. I usually go for breakfast, the vegetarian omelette in particular is good its called the Gold Digger on the menu by the way. Whether you go for breakfast or lunch make sure you get the beans. These are the only beans that my son will eat and me, as a bean connoisseur, can honestly say these are the best beans Ive eaten at a restaurant.You can also get things like chicken fried steak and eggs as well as a variety of french toast. Lunch options include a variety of sandwiches and burgers.It seems every time I go in here there are a lot of other hungry people in front of me so dont plan on just popping in and grabbing a bite. Its worth awake though because the food is good and as mentioned the size is huge.If you have a high school reunion coming up or the prom or thinking about reigniting a past flame then I would recommend you avoid this place because you will definitely overeat and look like a snake that swallowed a soccer ball. Just fair warning...

On a busy Saturday morning, when the restaurant was packed, we felt like the only customers. Misti Blue was our waitress and she did a phenomenal job taking good care of us and the food was delicious!

I have never made a Google review but our experience here was horrible. We had a party of 7 plus an infant and 45 minutes into our wait the manager came to us and let us know that there were “technical” difficulties. However, everyone around us was receiving food. No apologies were made and we felt like they avoided us after they informed us of their mistake. In addition, the manager made no effort to makeup for their mistake by offering a discount. Having worked in the service industry for years, I believe that to be best practices and shows an effort to make up for their errors.
Flavor of the chicken tenders was good. The french fries came out hot and were delicious and I dont really care for fries all that much. My husband got the chicken fried steak, and the batter was good but the steak could have used some seasoning. All in all the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We would come again.
If I could give zero stars I would. Whatever wait time they give you add on at least 30 minutes. I’ve been countless times. Expect your mediocre food to be wrong and cold every time. You’ll wait at least 30 min after you order your food even when the place is empty. The food will always be at most lukewarm. My friends all have the same problem. It’s one of the worst places in town.
So this is awesome cafe due to the fact that their portions are big and delicious. The staff are friendly and attentive so always a plus. I had the outlaw omelet with the banana nut pancake which was just as big as the plate it came on. The potatoes were cooked to nice crisp but I would say they could be seasoned better. The seasoning was good but just need more of it is all. I don’t know if they buy their yogurt from a supplier or make it themselves but it was excellent. Recommend Old West to hungry breakfast eaters in the Denton area. Seating is adequate and so is parking. Two thumbs up.
Ohhhh gosh this place is GREAT! you want a hardy breakfast this is the place. It gets pretty busy on the weekends so call ahead.

Came from San Antonio for a weekend trip and the food here did NOT disappoint! My family of 5 all got different plates, and everyone cleaned their plates because it was so good! Would definitely come back! I only left off a star because we put our names on the list, were told wait was 25-30 min, and after 30 min we hadn’t heard anything about our table and they said they lost our names on the list.

Great service great food. First time going, a bit of a wait, but well worth it. Charming atmosphere and western decor. Coffee drinks were delicious. I had an iced coffee cake coffee and it wasnt too sweet. Went well with the strawberry cheesecake stuffed french toast and the smoke sausage I had. Forgot the coffee that girlfriend had, but it too was great. She ordered the bronco I believe, which was a giant buttermilk pancake with bacon and a side of grits. Bacon was nice and thick cut. The pancake was large, soft, and delicious as well. You dont need a knife for it, and it does just melt in your mouth. Service was great. As it was our first time going, and they have a large menu, server helped us navigate the menu with excellent suggestions. Food came out probably under 10mins. It was fast. We were not expecting that, but it was really fast. We will be going back and we recommend trying it out

Excellent food and atmosphere! Busy place at 8am on a Saturday morning, but so much better than national chain breakfast restaurants. We really enjoyed The Bandit (biscuits & gravy) & The Sombrero (Tex/Mex omlette). Definitely plan on going back to try those delicious looking pancakes & French toast.
I enjoyed a great breakfast meal. The coffee was good, the bacon was meaty, the eggs were perfect, the hashbrowns were awesome, the sausage was flavorful, and the biscuits and sausage gravy were excellent. Service was also great. Our new favorite breakfast place. We arrived at 1:15pm on a Saturday and the place was packed. They closed at 2pm and people were still coming in. There was a wait, but the food was well worth the wait.
We had been dying to see what this restaurant was all about. There is always a wait, but we found out you can wait in your car and they will text you when table is ready. After sitting down and eating I see what the wait and hype is all about. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the portion to price is spot on. Good portions for the price. Definitely one of the favorite places to go for breakfast in Denton. Between this, 7 mile and egg house cafe this would be the middle one. Definitely trading places with 7 mile from time to time. But good food, tap water is a bit bad but food is good. 8/10
