First time shopping at Big Y, just moved here from TN. Stopped by 3 weeks ago, got a cashier that was older, gray hair, glasses that was super rude to me. Piled all of my stuff up at the end of the checkout counter and looked at me like I was supposed to do something. She eventually asked if I needed a bag, I told her yes please and she proceeded to toss my stuff around and give me mean looks. At the end she tore the receipt off and held it out to me, didnt say A word... Am I supposed to bag my own stuff at Big Y? I called down there to figure it out, got customer service on the phone, asked for a manager, someone next to them goes just hang up... and thats what they did.. They just hung up on me. Guess Ill try someplace else. What a lasting first impression.

I ended my search for a houseplant here, very happily. Went to Lowes, just not impressed, but I got a cute plant that seemed nice and healthy, and less money. The floral attendant was lovely and able to name the plants. Not the hugest selection, but enough that I could pick a gift that made me happy

Big Y is an ok place to shop, products are pricey and I can get them cheaper elsewhere. You can also find hard to get items here that you wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere at places like aldi and price rite. But I do find that the employees are helpful and nice

Oh my gosh !! The lady at the flower center is so nice,I believe she was the manager of some sorts with dark hair name began with a S but I really can’t remember. I was so taken back by the professionalism and the real knowledge of the flowers and plants.She gave me so many tips to maintain them, a true botanist. I will for sure be returning for all of my Mother’s Day needs for a beautifully prepared bouquet.

Miss them in Ansonia. The mix of high end to low end prices are much better.The fresh food areas are great.

Amazing! We used to go to stop and shop which from my experiences was kind of dirty and didnt have everything we need, so we tried big y and realized it had absolutely everything we need and is so much more clean than most other grocery stores. Plus the staff are super duper friendly.

Every time I go into big Y I always find exactly what I need, this location is very clean And the staff is always friendly. I love the fresh salmon, never disappoints. The lobster tails were also a great deal!!!

Decent prices on general grocery. They have bigger juicier rotisserie chickens than other supermarkets. Good variety of well made sushi both rolls and sashimi as well as various dumplings.

Havent been here since they moved from Ansonia, WOW! Honestly the cleanest store Ive been in since Covid started! Plenty of space to keep away from people, everyone I saw was wearing a mask, and many employees were wiping down anything that gets touched! Great job Big Y & Staff!

Big, clean store with great produce, really nice houseplants in the floral/gift area, and a really good selection of staples and specialty foods. Good gluten free selection. This would be a great place to dash in before a party for some nice good to bring and grab a gift for the host(ess). Easy parking lot, too.

Always has a solid selection of fresh produce, seafood and meat. Bakery has a nice selection of bread and treats. Have only noticed them being out of a few things I’ve been looking for ( during COVID). Staff is always welcoming and helpful.

Ive gone back and forth with my review here, but as of today, Im back to 5 stars across the board.Everything about this store is great, between the natural food choices, the Kosher foods, prepared foods [especially the Asian !!] and the beer selection is truly first rate.At first I was turned off by the bowl shaped parking lot, along with the exact change policy, but the folks at Big Y have since eased up on that - the exact change thing..... and the parking lot Ive since gotten used to.Terrific store, with great staff working there... proud to shop here once a week.

Definitely the best grocery in the area. One area of lesser quality is the cold cut selection. Produce, meats, and produce options and quality are all good.

The store just opened about 2 months. It is really nice. The bakery department is amazing a good variety of stuffs to choose from. Customer service was great and check out wasnt bad. The area is really busy so give yourselves some extra time.

This is the cleanest Big Y ive ever been in. Most of the workers are easygoing. The sushi chef that works here is the bomb!

Nice local grocery store. Brand new, well laid out and clean. The butcher shop has really good steak. My only complaints are: baggers are few and far between when checking out. Also I have experienced some attitude from the deli staff.

Big y has gotten to be a very nice store a d that applies to the new stores. Big Y has to try to update and modernize the older stores such as naugatuck and Cheshire.

I come here for the fresh meat mostly. This is what I usually find, empty spots where whatever Im looking for should be. Its usually the same product they are out of week after week. I bag my own groceries after finding 8 bags just thrown together because they are busy. Unacceptable is spending 150+ dollars to have it all crammed together without care. Bag your own when shopping here and shop with care.

They lost a customer today. Circular out for a day, you would think they would stock enough to cover the specials advertised. (its a friday afternoon) Took a 1/2 hour to brigng up their digital flyer and made my list. I get there and ALL the specials were out or picked over. Guy at seafood counter clueless about advertising what he did not have in stock. Girl at front desk gave me attitude over asking for raincheck. (none allowed)

This new Big y in the old Wal-Mart is a joy to shop in. The store is kept spotless, the crew in the store are very helpful and they seem to really enjoy working here which is good to see. I live in Shelton and normally shop in that Big y but from now on I will be shopping in this new store👍👌

So great to get some competition for StopnShop which has the worst carbon footprint!! Hopefully Big Y will continue to support small LOCAL farms—-and not bring things from California that are already old and chemically sprayed. Hoping it will be successful.
