Seriously, just so thankful for the kind and compassionate response I got from this location, specifically the service Scott provided! After driving hundreds of miles, needing to head home, my two front tires had some serious damage. After calling every tire shop open in Ankeny and Altoona with no luck whatsoever, Scott worked with me to make sure I got in that day so I could get home safely. He made sure to provide information on what I needed to do next. Your commitment to serving customers in need is so appreciated, thank you!

These mechanics gave me hope. I took my car to midas for spark plugs and wires and picked it up it was running terrible I took it back to midas to fix it and they said well its not dying so its okay. Firestone got me in next morning asap and in less than an hour they fixed it. Running beautifully smooth as a cloud very knowledgeable very kind and very honest mechanics I will be going back for anything I need!

I take my 3 vehicles here and have always gotten treated well and speedy service.

Sunday Manager went out of his way to help us change a hitch ball. Mechanic Scott was kind & generous to help.

I went there with a non tire related issue. I was not able to get the screws out from my tags because they were rusted. I dont remeber the gentleman that helped me. But he was very nice and was able to get the screws loose enough for me.

This location have one of the best customer service and I keep coming back. They take time to explain to you what is wrong and even take you back to the shop and show you. I feel like now a day, customer service sells. Recommend this location.

Terrible service. They took 3 days for an oil change and putting on new tires. They ordered the wrong tires, and once the correct tires were delivered there was no urgency to have them put on. Never called to update me on what was taking so long, I had to contact them.

Always professional and listen to what you say. Theyve never pressured me toward anything but present the info and let me decide.

Had an appt set for 8am this morning and then was asked of Id move it to another day, well no because right after the alignment were leaving on a 5,000mi road trip, trucks packed and everything, now Ive got to wait for them to fit it in at some point today, thanks firestone for messing up the beginning of our vacation

Went in to buy 3 new tires and have them installed. When I left I started looking over my paperwork and noticed that a front lug nut was missing. They never went over that with me or told me that. Whats worse is before I went in, I had checked everything and knew they were all on. When I called and asked why they didnt tell me they acted confused and wanted me to wait another 30 mins to get a lug nut in after charging me for another nut that they lost. They refused to accept any responsibility or try to make it right. They also tried telling me I needed new rotor drums for my brakes when my brakes are still good. Nothing they were telling me made sense and seemed like they were trying to just scam me into spending more money than I needed to.

Went in to have a oil change and new tires installed. One of my TPMS (tire pressure monitor sensor) was bad apparently. I never had a issue with any of them and never had a issue with adding air. I’ve been back there 4 times to have the light fixed by the programming. I asked them if it needed to be a special sensor from the start and they said no. The light kept coming on they would reset it and it would keep coming back on. They called Hyundai and they said it needed to be a different one. They installed that one and now the light is back on again. They just keep Telling me they know what they are doing when clearly they don’t. I spent $130 on the sensor let alone how much fuel was used to drive there and back several times. If you don’t know how to do something then say it. I experienced several un happy customers when I was in there and firestone wouldn’t claim responsibility for it. There was a taller guy that works up front sometimes and he is rude to everyone. I think that they need to remember that we the customers pay them and they work for us. It’s not the other way around. I will go back to taking my vehicles to Big O. I suggest everyone else to do the same. I now have wasted my money with them and countless hours/weekends. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLES HERE.

Staff are great to work with, their alignment service came highly recommended by another car shop. I had a great experience and they did not try to pull in unnecessary repairs.

On Sunday May 31st I hit a stone and a hole at the same time which sliced the side wall of my tire. I call this place and they were closing soon, but if we could get things changed in the next 20 minutes they would wait for us. Well to make a long story short we didnt make it in 20 minute but we stayed in contact with them, and they were willing to stay open 45 minutes longer just so they could get us a new tire and get us home safely which was 3hrs away. I was a mess by the time I got there but I never felt so cared for!! The 3 men that were working assured me I was no problem and that was why they were there was to take care of the customer. It was a very pleasant experience and if there is ever a question with my tires and I am in the area I will not for one minute hesitate to stop and have them checked out. I wish I would of gotten their names because they do deserve recognized for being will to go out of their way to help someone in such a time of need when all they would of had to say was sorry we are closed. You guys were an answer to my prayers and all I can ask is that God will bless you all in a way that I cant!! thanks from the grateful mom from Nebraska!!!

These guys have taken such good care of me, and have never once talked down to me.

They know us when we come in. They already know our names which is cool. Everyone is very friendly there. If something is wrong on the car they try help you find a deal on it to get it fix. They always try to work around your time but not everything is perfect so. Sometimes they have to keep your car overnight to get anything else done. They always try to find ways improve your car. They local and friendly service there. They are always pact and busy but that’s because you know it’s a great place to get it your car service there.

Discovered a nail in my tire that was not repairable and went to Firestone at 5 pm last night. Adam checked my truck in and confirmed the nail and also that it could not be repaired so my tires were old enough to consider replacing. I choose to replace them and Adam was able to find the tires got them and Shareik the tech worked on it. They were able to complete the job and have the truck back to me by 7pm last night. Yes I would highly recommend these two gentleman and also this store to anyone. Thank you to Adam and Shareik for a job well done!

Great service and tires for my Ford F150.

Very thankful for the 2 employees that closed on March 9th 2020. I got there at 6:55 and they were getting ready close down and they still helped me out. Very good customer service. I did not have the same experience with the Urbandale location. Thank you guys.

Wonderful staff! They took care of me. My tires are amazing. Great prices too. I highly recommend it. Took some time though. I was there for a couple hours. Not sure if thats normal for getting four brand new tires put on, but it was worth it for the service I got. Very kind people.

If I could give no stars I would. I have had several things done by them since last fall. First truck alignment, they not only didnt align, but also left latch undone on hood. Almost blew open on the way home. Had to bring back for second alignment. Bought a new set of tires, all sensors went off, they only put about half pressure in to all of the tires! Later needed a tire repair, took an hour and a half for a repair, I watched the mechanic walking around talking to other employees and showing videos on his phone instead of working on my truck! This winter, plowing with the truck that had two alignments, the tie rod adjuster came apart. This is a fool proof system if everything tightened down. My normal mechanic came out in middle of snowstorm to fix, he said bolts were loose from alignment and ruined adjuster tube. Cost me $700 to repair front end. I went back to Firestone to have re-aligned and to talk about damage. They wouldnt do anything about it. Manager John wouldnt even talk to me, made Laurie do it. Absolutely terrible service!!!! not the way you treat customers. I run a business and would never treat my clients like this! Wont ever go back again!!!!!

Bad customer service

The customer service was fine giving quotes to get you in the door. Seemed relatively cheep with the quote I got for a new alternator. I authorized a inspection which later found out it was only an electrical inspection which cost around 80 dollars. Come to find out it was the battery. Replacement of a battery and to hook it up to a machine cost 185.00? Thats a little outrageous. I wanted my car to get a coil pack replaced and had a few hundred more dollars left in the budget. I asked how much it would cost to get a complete inspection. Another 90 dollars he tells me on top of the supposed work they already did. They will find any way to make their money. Im not going to give money to someone for doing no work on the car. That would be insane. You think that they could give you a deal on the inspection after you spent 185 dollars for popping a battery into place, knowing that the customer had a little more room left in his budget. I will never take my business here again and discourage anybody who is thinking of taking your vehicle here.

I had a flat and needed all new tires. I didnt call ahead or have an appointment so I was expecting not to have my vehicle for the entire day however they were very quick and took less than two hours and thats with an oil change. I was impressed. The tires were a good price as well.

They are so great! Theyre beyond friendly, Richard Wallace is absolutely phenomenal. I went in for a tire repair and brake repair as well as an oil change, and Richard even took me back while my car was up and talked me through and showed me what all was going on with my car, what needed fixed, and why! Definitely the best auto shop experience Ive ever had

Was able to get my vehicle repaired for a reasonable cost when other places had told me it would be much more. Staff was pleasant, helpful, and honest. They allowed me to use a coupon without getting a Firestone line of credit (as the coupon required). Car smelled like a car shop (grease/cigarettes) when I got it back, but I suppose that can be expected.

Standard Firestone with nice staff. They squeezed me into a pretty busy day and got my tires rotated and a quick check-up done without having to wait long. Seems to be a very busy location.

People were nice and respectful, however took them 3 to get the balancing correct on my car after replacing all tires.

In an attempt to repair the snapped bolt, a technician caused a slow transmission fluid leak, which cost me several hundred dollars to fix a few months later. I can no longer recommend this Firestone Complete Auto Care.Original review:Richard went above and beyond to get our car serviced. His computer system wasn’t cooperating, but he made some phone calls to find the correct brake pads and rotors for our car. When his tech accidentally snapped one of our lug bolts, he tried to make it right. He is honest, polite and professional.

Richard took excellent care of my 16-year-old daughter when she was in dire straits with her front tires. While that was getting handled, Jon helped me line up some tires for one of my vehicles. I look forward to a lasting relationship with this place.

Driving to Minnesota from Kanas City. On the way, I started to hear a voice coming from alternator area. I stopped at Firestone in Des Moines to have it checked out. Here it ended up to be the clutch on the a/c compressor. I asked if I could drive it like that and they recommend no. They said it would be $1100 to replace compressor and clutch. I said cant you just change the clutch, they said no. They said they could put a change over kit for $330. I said go with that. Here to find out, you can just replace the clutch which part cost $129. Oh, with change over kit, I would not have a/c. Did not have much choice at the position i was in. So now no a/c and spent total of $390 for nothing. Why not change the clutch? They ripped me off!!!!!! I recommend no one to use Firestone for repairs. I am calling them today to see if they make this right!!!!

Fast and friendly service. I made an appointment to get 4 new tires just before noon on Friday, went in and was out in less than an hour. I was able to get help in deciding which tire was going to be best for what I was looking for in quality. Everyone was helpful and kind.

Ive long been a fan of Firestone and this one is no exception. I take my cars here for everything I cant do myself. Recently I took my car in to have it looked at because my new engine was knocking. Instead of charging me $90 to have a tech look at it, the customer service rep had a listen and told me it wasnt normal and I needed to take it to back to the garage that installed my engine to have it fixed under warranty. Ive been to places before where they would gladly take your money and run. When service places treat you like Firestone does, you want to go back because you know they can be trusted not to rip you off.

Good repair but they backed into my other car.

Went in in one of the coldest days of the year so far (flat tires) without an appointment and the service was outstanding. Laurie was swamped with calls and some bad attitudes and she handled it all like a professional and had my car back on the road in a surprisingly short time. I will continue to go to this shop solely based on the people I interacted with there today. Friendly, patient and as accommodating as they could be when they were obviously swamped! Thank you Laurie!!!

They are running a bait-and-switch operation. I brought my car in for a $99 brake special (brake pads only). I have some experience with brakes myself, so I knew my pads were bad but my rotors were fine. They advertise a free brake inspection on the website, but after they looked at it they told me because they were part of a chain they couldnt ethically replace my brake pads only. Despite the fact that the rotors were fine. On top of that, they did a complete inspection on my car though they were only authorized for a free brake inspection. They tried to upsell me on over $1000 worth of work and charged me for an inspection. Needless to say, I was not happy and chose to take my business elsewhere.

Nice people they have great mechanics. Just wish they wrote legible on their forms.

Great service, friendly staff! They have great coupons online and through the valpak. They dont try to sell you stuff you dont need, or try to tell you stuff is wrong with your car that isnt. I dont go anywhere else for my oil changes or maintenance.

I appreciate the honesty and opinions of the people I worked with when I needed my car serviced, but next time you want to listen to a basketball game please dont roll down my windows and play with my car radio while you work and make the interior smell like a chain-smoking oil factory; please get your own radio. I also didnt like that my options for new tires were limited to the one and only FR710 or winter tires when I read reviews that the FR710s werent as effective in the snow. I felt like the people that I talked with didnt show much knowledge about their tires and were just reading off a computer screen.As a review of the FR710 compared to my previous set of continentals that lasted 60k miles, these are softer rubber, the gaps between the tire ribs are larger, and the lines between the tire ribs are jagged. This leaves me concerned with the tires not lasting as long, rocks getting stuck in the larger gaps, and water less effectively getting out from under my tires when I need grip through the rain because they dont have a straight line to follow between the ribs. Theres also ever so slightly more vibration in the car at higher speeds but this may go away with wear, but the tires are noticeably quieter and grip well.2 stars for being polite and friendly, and effectively installing new tires and changing the oil.

I would give this place a zero star if I could. I stopped in to get new tires and the first price they quoted me was most expensive tire they had with warranty I didnt ask for. Theu didnt even offer the fact that I didnt need the warranty or have cheaper tires available. I had to ask three times if there was a lower cost tire available before they finally got to the cheapest one they had. Then they broke my air sensors when replacing my tire and charged me for new ones. The sales person was giving me a completely different story than what the mechanic told me and never reset the air sensors. They claimed I need to drive for 20 mins before then senor light would turn off. I drove for 2 days and the sensor never turn off. I came back to address this and they told me the same thing that I needed to drive more. Drove two more days and light never turned off. Went back and they claimed they fixed it and I would need to drive for 20 minutes and it would turn off. Never turned off. Went somewhere else and they told me they never wven reset it even though I stopped there twice and they said they did both times. Place is a bunch of scammers and I would never recommend someone come here. I rarely leave feedback but I hope that I can save someone from getting ripped off the way I did.

For new tires they did a good job.

Called the store with nearly an hour till close to see about carrying a tire in to have it repaired as it was flat. The store manager told me he wouldnt be able to get to it till the next evening cause they were so busy. Flat repairs take maybe 10 minutes, Ive worked at a Firestone in the past. That and when I was there, policy was you dont turn someone away for something so small as that with that much time left. Corporate used to call and scream at stores for turning customers away for crap like this. I left cause I saw the company getting worse, glad I left when I did cause it has really gone to the dogs. Dont recommend this store or any other Firestone for that matter.
