Virtuoso Design + Build completed a beautiful two-phase set of plans for the expansion of our urban mushroom farm. We feel so lucky to have connected with VD+B through the Motor City Match Small Business Challenge. VD+B understands the ins and outs of the program and their staff are excellent guides through the design process. Joe took great care to understand the specific needs of our farm and created an innovative design that optimized functionality and efficiency while maintaining visual interest. He was super friendly and communicative throughout his design process and made sure we felt heard and informed at every turn. Michelle has been incredibly patient and responsive, and has gone out of her way to support us through the transition from the design phase to the construction phase. We’ve really enjoyed our partnership with VD+B and highly recommend them to anyone looking to improve the aesthetics and usability of their space.

We are so pleased with the built-in book shelves that Virtuoso did as part of our room remodel. Logan was great to work with and the piece is a true statement. The bookshelves blend seamlessly into the room design and the window seat is stunning. Huge drawers under the window seat effortlessly add storage. We were impressed by Virtuosos ability to accommodate details- lights within the built-in and the addition of molding to blend the built-in into the doorframe it was up against. Would definitely recommend Virtuoso design and would use them again.

Amazing work!! Virtuoso did major wood work on our 1880ies condo and now our 1918 home. Everything is so high quality and beautiful. Restoration on a whole new level!!! I never thought I’d be showing people picture of a door like it’s my first born! Thank you!!!!!!!

We just hired Virtuoso to design and renovate our kitchen in a 100 year old house in Detroit. Id like to give them 4.5 vs 5 but thats not an option with this. Ill explain everything below.Design: 5 stars. They gave us a different layout than all other contractors we worked with and it was by far the best one. They also incorporated a lot of random things I purchased into the design like tile or hand rails to make it more unique.Price: 5 stars. They were willing to work with us to bring some costs down and were comparable to other contractors we talked to. Theyre not the cheapest out there but theyre not the most expensive.Custom Millwork: 5 stars. This is by far their selling point and essential to have in an old house. They created custom beams, an island, and matched/fixed a lot of our 100 year old trim we put back into the house. Their carpenter is very attentive to detail and did an amazing job.Plan review for QA and adjustments: 3 stars. This is the one area I would say has the biggest room for improvement. I wish they had sat down with us and reviewed the finished floor plan prior to doing any work so we had a chance to see all the lights, switches, electrical plugs, etc... and seen a sample of the cabinets. Fortunately we caught some things like a missing pantry light, a plug that we wanted replaced, some additional cabinetry options, etc... once we realized it wasnt there but could have pointed it out from the start if we all sat down to review the blueprints. My biggest gripe is our accent lighting is on the same switch as the main overhead lights so they always have to be turned on together. Not a train wreck but could have been avoided to make it perfect. I do like our cabinets now but originally thought the border around them was too large and I realized I was never shown a sample prior to them being installed. I probably wouldnt have freaked out for the first 24 hours had I seen a sample or been advised the border was bigger than a lot of my inspiration photos.Communication/Responsiveness: 5 stars. I received calls or emails back within a few hours of contacting them. This happened almost every day for a few months.Timeliness: 5 stars. Ive only heard horror stories from other people about kitchen renovations dragging out past the expected end date and Virtuoso remained on schedule and were willing to change schedules based on our needs. We ordered a door that came in 3 weeks later than their plans and they worked around it without any issues.Overall I would highly recommend the company. They were easy to work with and were willing to take on a lot of custom requests.
