I normally shop here after work everyday and Friday night I was happy to see that there was actually water in the aisle which is always empty or low. I can’t remember the young lady’s name but the black girl with a haircut she was extremely nice she assisted me and others and didn’t have an attitude about helping as she was busy with other things. I gave two stars because the employees are very nice and always helpful. However I shop here at least two maybe three times a week. Unfortunately it’s been several times that I’ve gotten home only to find out that my meat, cheese, other dairy products were spoiled.. I wanted to keep shopping here due to the Convenience of how close they are to were I live but lately this has been happening often. I will definitely be going a little further for better quality.

Good for water and snacks. Need more lines to pay at open. Except for only two. At a time. Takes for ever some time to just go get milk.

Good clean store. With a lot of variety in baked goods, hot Mexican food to go. Meats definitely rotate regularly for freshness. Most of all always help at the registers. None of this scan your own things. 👍👏

I shop at the store pretty much every day I live in East Chicago and I love to store the employees and everyone is very great I’ve never had a problem until yesterday I go to the customer service desk to ring up and the lady seen that I had a bag of produce which was two avocados they were two for three dollars as soon as she seen the bag she said I can’t take you here because you have produce and I don’t have a scaleI informed her it did not need to be weighed and the avocados were two for three dollars she continued to refuse me and had a terrible attitude I was very upset with her attitude and do not appreciate it if she does not like her job she should go to work somewhere else or don’t work with the customer service at all white woman very heavyset and I will be telling everyone I know not to shop at the store anymore terrible service terrible service

Helpful staff with a good selection of items for a reasonable price

Will not order food platters from there again. I paid in advance and they gave me the wrong tags to take to the register. They called to correct the issue. On pick up they tagged my food AFTER i paid in advanced and my cart locked at the door. The security almost attacked me! If it had not been the employee that was helping me take my 2 carts of food out Im sure I wouldve had a harder time!!

Cashiers are all very nice. Very fast at the checkout line as well!

The customer service was beautiful it made me remember why I love Steack &Van Til. I will be going there instead of their Calumet store.

Love Stracks but this location seems to be not as organized. I checked out, went to the service desk and the transition is not smooth. Very tight with a shopping cart. Then I went to leave and I had to cross over the other lanes as I exit and had to stop many times as when other people check out and a bagger is at the end of the lane, it is not enough room to get through. Store is stocked well. Employees are good, but the space in certain areas are a tad bit tight.

This is a better layout for a grocery store than Meijer. I love their display of fresh produce adjacent to bakery. This time I even tried the taco place . Good fresh food. But its different from another Strack&Van til in Portage which has a fresh sushi counter. They also have instacart available if you wanted to order online. Valentines stuff is already available and they have $1 piece of cakes! Well, I have much to try next time! The restrooms could be in a better shape. No smell, but the toilet paper box was broken and the latchkey on the door as well, and no paper to place on the toilet seat. It was busy at 2pm on Tuesday, so please wear a mask before you enter. Happy shopping!

Great folks, great food products, prices are a little above normal but then again., thanks to the Covid, everything has gone up across the board. Including gas, home improvement products, cost of living, Etc.

Great cashiers and friendly staff

I ordered a pan of chicken from the deli for my sons bday there was hair in the breading of the chicken. I also have had numerous issues with the bakery. Its unfortunate that we are stuck with this as our local store. Some of the workers are ok but I wouldnt recommend the deli or bakery at stracks to anyone.

Munster SVTS is a smaller grocer, deli servers are slow.Overall a nice place to shop.

I went in recently and had a great experience. I am from Texas and enjoy going to HEB there. When I got up here it was an experience I am used to back home. Made me feel like I was family. Ready to shop, computers were down so we had to wait about 20 minutes. But management stepped in and kept us informed and gave complimentary cards for eggs. When the glitch was fixed they welcomed us with pastries and juices. It made the shop experience a perfect prep for a great holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to the Strack family. Great job!!!

First and last last time going to this store. I was with a group of people that live in different household and we were refused water. The man was buy water for himself, the older lady was buy water for her home, and I was buy water for my clients with disabilities. We followed the limit restrictions and was still refused. I know this will probably not be addressed but this is bad business. Time of national crisis or not people are require to purchase there basic needs. I should not be required to share with a person not living with me. The managers were rude and didn’t care what we were saying.

Plenty of parking, great location. They may have everything you need, but they arent, reasonably priced with everything. They might have a good sale on produce and bakery items, but youll need to shop elsewhere if youre on a budget for meat. Fresh and frozen meats are priced the same for some unknown reason. Dairy products are always reasonable. If I need a shelf item Im not getting it here unless its on sale. I cant really judge the customer service level because they never have anyone around that can help. I do like the store because of the hours and location. Not the best in the area but its convenient.

Quite costly! Items on sale are never something you actually need. Items are easy to find. Meats and Produce are always fresh. They should open a window in the Courtesy Booth for only those who want to play the Lottery. Those people take too long in line.

This store I love because of the variety of goods and meat and if theyre out of something the meat department will make sure they order for you. I know cause I love corn beef brisket. They were out I asked when will they receive. They told me why they were out and when it would coming in. And I came back and it was right there!

Meats need to be set on a colder temperature, so that they do not go bad. I do not buy meat here that reason.

This store is outdated disgusting the supposed to be fresh fruits and vegetables are old and rotten its sad that our Eastchicago store looks nasty and horrible but other Strack’s look nothing like this one I have to travel further to a more Caucasian neighborhood to get a better experience like Portage or Lake station Sad because we are spending our Money too just like they are the carts here barley even work yikes

Fantastic produce, butcher shop, and sea food.

The sales are not good sales, and at times I feel like the prices are high. The inside of the store is nice, the workers are helpful, but sometimes I find certain types of food from here that be out dated. Ex. The fruit in the containers always smell and taste spoiled.

The employee are great and place is nice.

This East Chicago, Indiana location is not clean, birds & rodents infested the store & the supervisor rodney says he wont eat the cooked whole chicken that is cooked daily because the workers arent using safe meat handling practices,but he allows the old chicken to be sold to customers daily. Most of the cashiers are young, rude & messy unorganized teens playing instead of providing good customer service.

This used to be a good store I dont know what happened. Its been 4 years since I visited here. Past 2 days I visited and the store is not as clean as it used to be. They take forever getting people checked out. The facing other stock is not the quality used to be and neither is the deli.The prepared food they have four meals looks like they do not care about their customer / clientele.the food looks dry and very unprofessional and its presentation. I shopped at the store for two years while living near it and it has definitely changed since Ive been gone. Im not sure if I will return.

I like this store, been shopping here since me and my family moved to East Chicago a year ago. Prices are too high on some items (Buy your basic food items from Aldi), but all the grocery stores have raised their prices so you gotta deal with it. Very convenient and I usually find parking close to the doors. I dont have trouble finding what I need, and cant really judge the customer service much as I dont ask for help here. This store is small enough to figure out pretty quickly.

The prices are reasonable and the staff is polite. Their meat wrapper must be old because it doesnt seal the packages well. Its a pain and a disservice to the freshness of the product.

Good food fair pricing nice people

I love that they have Almiras cakes there I live in Houston, Tx and every time I go home I have to get a banana cake the people in Texas dont even know what a banana cake is. Plus if you have never tried it get yourself some Eckridge garlic bologna and you dont even need to make a sandwich just get a piece a roll it up and eat I guarantee you will be back for more. The service when I was there was quick and friendly, store was clean and the cashiers didnt have attitudes thats always a plus.
