I stopped here today. I wasn’t planning to buy a thing. The place was filled with updated vintage fabrics and the most current designers patterns and books. I loved that they carry such a variety of top brand quality fabrics and notions. I loved her clothing and quilting jewelry. She had embroidery and knitting too. I did buy fabric and kicked myself for not getting a book for one of the quilts she had on display. I like that she is open every day but Sunday. I wish Calico Shoppe was my local quilt shop.

Wow....just, wow. And not in a good way.When we entered The Calico Shoppe, my first thought was What a cute little shop!.As I was browsing the fabrics near the front of the store, I hear a very polite employee asking another [employee] a question about blocks of the month. The polite employee needed clarification for a caller. The [employee] proceeded to berate and demean the polite employee for not knowing the answer or for not knowing where to find the answer. This was all done IN FRONT of customers.I could not believe what I was witnessing. Even as the [employee] sees me glaring at her, she doesnt stop her mistreatment of the polite employee. She doesnt care that customers are watching.After the berating ends, I go to find my friend and tell her of the situation. She was just as appalled as I was. I am not one to standby and allow a bully to bully, so I was geared-up to approach the [employee] and tell her how unprofessional and rude she was. However, someone else in the store told me that if I speak up while in the store, that the mistreatment would get worse for the polite employee. (my guess is that the other customer has also witnessed mistreatment on previous occasions). Because, as it turns out, the [employee] is actually the owner of the store.Thats right folks, the OWNER is the one mistreating her employees right in front of customers. Lynn Goelzer is a terrible boss, and from what I witnessed, a terrible person.In an attempt to avoid making things worse for her employees, I chose not to confront Lynn face-to-face. Instead, I will leave a review on all social media that the store has.So....here I am standing up for what is right. I will never give The Calico Shoppe my business. And I want Lynn to hear me loud and clear: Your polite employee is the ONLY reason I stayed in your store. She was pleasant, professional, helpful, and smiled thru it all.

Love this shoppe ! Always has what you want plus more!! Thats how we get our stash! Visit the shop you wont regret it!

What a lovely store. Nice selection, helpful and plentiful staff. I would rank this very high in my quilt shop travels and would go out of my way to go there again.

Very nice local shop with lots of selection. Often have a hard time getting help and one of the older employees is very rude. Asked a simple question about where to find a pattern and she said Did you look for it?. After clarifying that we had tried to find it without success she came to help. She pointed it out in the book and said I should know I made this quilt. My grandmother asked her why she was being rude to her and which point she called my grandmother mean and walked away. We had to wait around for 45 minutes for the other staff person to finish with her customer to get help. Would like to say this was the first time but we have encountered this before.

Great fabric store for all my sewing and quilting needs. Very easy to get to being that its right downtown

The Calico Shoppe and purple petunia are full of treasures! I love finding gifts for everyone here and supporting a small business that has been a pillar of downtown business for years! The owners care so much about their customers :)
