This was my very first diner experience ever and I’m happy to say I was very impressed. The entire place with the traditional American style decor, the food offering and the portion size along with the friendly staff was a refreshing experience. They have all the COVID related safety precautions in place. The staff has masks on all the time and they take your phone number and name before you enter the diner for health and safety issues (the lady at the entrance told us). The parking is ample outside the diner so you’d wouldn’t run out of it. The exterior was fancy and shiny and you could spot this diner easily from the street even at night. We went in here for breakfast on a Sunday. We ordered a couple of make your own omelette one with chicken and the other with sausage. We also had coffee, pancakes and eggplant parmigiana. They were all delicious. The portion size was huge and the prices were reasonable. They did mess up one of our sausage omelette (they skipped the sausage so it was basically just your normal egg omelette) but, once we did get this to their notice they gave us sausages on the side. We also tried one of their deserts namely the red velvet cheesecake and let me tell you, it was yum!The staff was courteous, the food delicious and the overall experience was fantastic. If you are in the neighborhood and wanna try a diner, this is a must try.
Good American diner. Food is good. Portions are large and staff is kind and lovely. Absolutely loved it.
Delicious food and really great service! Can’t wait to go back. I had a tasty salad and my partner had the Philly cheesesteak. Both were very tasty.
Good diner experience. The breakfast was delicious and that, to me, is usually one of the benchmarks of a good Jersey diner. Service was excellent and my water glass was never empty.
Delicious! Waitress treated us as if we were the only customers in the Diner! Freshest avocado for my avocado toast seasoned to perfection. Side of really good bacon, not slab but nice strips. Didnt like the coffee but the food was really really very good! I live in Bergen County, but I would take a cool drive down even by myself to eat there again!
This is an authentic NJ diner. Good service. Good food. As with all diners, the menu is vast. Stick to the simpler dishes.
Not a typical diner service. Very friendly and food was very good. My omelet was cooked very well and better than other places. Clean and courteous service.
Last time had meal here was @1971. Food cooked as requested, generous portions, excellent service. If lived in area still would eat here at least once a week.
The food was good, everyone in my party enjoyed it. The service was pleasant and quick. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because we were seated right next to another party when there were plenty of tables. And we werent the only ones. I know we are trying to get back to normal but if you have the room you should seat people farther apart.
Classic no frills diner. This is everything youd expect from a diner with consistent results.
I am in town visiting and ran across this diner for breakfast. We ordered pancakes and French toast and both were sooo tasty! The only thing I will say is the breakfast was a little pricey $12 for a kids meal breakfast. Service was great too! Id visit again!
Great friendly service. We stopped in for dessert. Had the Oreo cheesecake. Whoa! Deeeelicious.
Our waitress was great, very friendly and made sure we were good the whole time.
Ordered turkey sandwich, was turkey breast, of excellent qaulity and taste. Rye bread was quality. Huge in size and portion. My friend had burger that was excellent, and fries fresh, hot, very tasty.
Great food one not so nice older dark black grey hair . Youl know when you see her lol but the food portions are good
Ya know, I ate at this diner 50 years ago and it still serves a mighty good meal. Its nice to know some things stay the same or even better. Thank you for being there.
First, we sat down and everything was great. We ordered and got our drinks... Then we ordered our food and my friends food wasnt available which was fine, he was going to choose something else but the waitress rushed us at 8:05 to choose something because the kitchen closes at 8:30. We still had at least 10 minutes to look and couldnt even give us that, then insisted on the burgers because they were good and i guess because i got one, she wanted to hurry up and choose for my friend. Then after we get our food (even though the order wasnt completely correct) the issue was fixed just fine though.. So now its about 8:30 and we just about finished our food and i want to get a slice of cake/pie and she goes to go right... we close at 9. i understand that you close at 9 but theres still 20 minutes left and thats more than enough time for me to enjoy SOME of my pie. Jesus christ lady if you didnt rush us and werent so aggressive we would have given a bigger tip and still would have left by 9pm. Super Rude. Dont work if you wanna leave before you close.
Food was not good. The home fries were not seasoned and tasted weird.
Nice new one page menu. Its a typical Jersey diner. Good food, not anything special. But satisfies every time. Wait staff is always friendly and excellent!
Crowded but oh well. Great food and customer service.
Went with the wife for an early dinner. Food was good and plentiful. Service was decent . Server a bit unsure what came with our entrees. Overall a good diner.
Its very nice diner lot of space easy access food was good but short staff
So cozy lovely dinner, with a tasty good portion food.
Food was mediocre, also they were experiencing staffing shortage. that could have impacted the overall experience.
Its ok if youre hungry. But the service was general only. Seated, greeted, and handed a menu. What seemed like only 5 minutes later we were asked what we were ordering, without the opportunity to even look at the whole menu. When ready after seeing the whole menu, I asked for a well done burger which came back medium rare. Couldnt find the waitress so I ate it anyway. Had to ask the bus boy for a napkin.Id rate Dennys (of all places!) better than this place. When paying, to the owner, asked how much for the TIP. We said 10%. Not even a question as to why only 10%!
Super friendly staff, huge breakfast sandwiches. Well certainly be back.
Socially distanced tables, cleaned between seatings. Great food. Lots of fillups on the coffee. Nice big eggs Benedict, good blueberry pancakes.
Very good food. I got the Philly cheese steak was very good.
If I could give them a negative star i would. The service was horrible, we had to ask for water, utensils, napkins and the waitress was no where to be found. The selection was slim and they would not even consider altering a meal. Than they forgot a meal and messed up on our meal. We were charged extra for something we didnt even get. I was very disappointed. I love diners and I always like to try out a new place but this place was honestly the worse diner i have ever been too. I would not return or recommend it.
Great staff and the food was delicious fast no mistakes thank you
We arrived about 10 minutes to closing, and the staff was SO patient with us. Wonderful food, that one of a kind diner atmosphere, and GREAT service! 10 stars if I could!!!
The food and service is good. I wish they opened earlier or at least on time. They opened after 7AM today.
Good food, bad service. Waitress was very rude and abrasive.
Kinda sad .. aint what it use to be... mostly empty...food. meh
Excellent wait staff. Food to die for. Matzah ball soup, heavenly. Highly recommend this family run diner.
Nice clean diner with your regular diner menu. Good omelette. Good service. They made it easy with all this Covid BS! Let us wait in the car and called when table was ready. We actually went here because we refuse to eat anywhere in NYC (stupid outdoor dining rules).
Crispy french toast, cooked perfectly. Old school Jersey diner done right.
Food was alright, ambience was good. Staff and service were friendly and excellent.
Today I order different then most days...I got me a stack of pancakes w/fresh fruits scramble eggs & OJ... Their coffee like always tastes freshly brewed... I come here every Sunday, so its a great place... Staff there are very friendly, 👍 👍 two thumbs up for their services...
Too expensive for the quality of food they serve. Mediocre food and service. I do feel for businesses during this difficult time but they can do so, so much better.
Classic Diner Atmosphere. A Lil Pricey$ I Ordered Western Omelette w/cheese, Home Fries & Bacon n Toast. But Worth The Food & Service. Got My Food Quickly. Packed Full. And Was Very Delicious!
Food was Delicious, Coffee could have been better.
Customer service was trash their food was ok at best but they had cool music machines in the booth but they didn’t work sadly
Decent diner great service nice spot for good food. Huge portions you will not leave hungry.
Great food, big portions, friendly atmosphere.
Judy was very nice and polite. Very attentive.
Always good service and food.
Great food, ambiance and service.
I haven’t been to MP Diner in a long time and after quarantining for a few weeks, my boyfriend and I decided to go out to eat and support a small business. You would think in these trying times, that a business owner would appreciate their customers telling them the honest truth, but it does not seem that is the case here. Maybe if only they realized without customers (ESPECIALLY IN A PANDEMIC) they wouldn’t be an open business. My boyfriend ordered the Mediterranean Chicken and Shrimp. It came with soup and salad which were both delicious. I ordered the French Dip which was also pretty good. Upon the food arriving to the table, we realized there were no shrimp in the “chicken and shrimp” dish. We picked on my fries, but did not touch either of the main plates so we could inform our server. It took about 6 minutes to get the server to the table (after the owner realized we were looking around and told her we needed her). We explained to her that there were no shrimp and if they could please bring them on the side. After running to the back and speaking with the cook she came back out and explained that the cook said he definitely put shrimp in the dish. ***She took my boyfriends fork and started digging in the dish to find a shrimp*** 🤨 and when she thought she spotted a shrimp she said it was there and that they are little baby shrimp and we said “ok” (at this point we were uncomfortable and it wasn’t worth the argument). He didn’t end up liking it and it was literally missing shrimp (there wasn’t even one) which was the main reason he got it so he pushed his plate to the side and we shared my sandwich. In a little while when we finished my food the server came to pick up the plates and asked if he was disappointed in his food since it was a full plate pretty much. We explained that he didn’t like it and there really were no shrimp. She dug through it with the fork and her fingers and then ran back to tell the cook again as well as her manager. He told her that there WERE shrimp in the plate and that he saw them and that was that. She brought us the check and apologized and pretty much said that they weren’t doing anything for us. We got our dessert that came with the CHICKEN AND SHRIMP special and went to pay the bill. The owner was at the register. He didn’t apologize or mention anything. We paid our bill without fuss and after tipping 20% I did let him know that there was NO SHRIMP in his plate. Not even one. The owner asked me if I was 100% sure about that- which I then let him know “yes, and your server should be too since she dug in his plate twice”. He said we should have let him know - BUT WE TOLD THE SERVER TWICE and she obviously told him and he did nothing. Also as a server, I would never touch someone’s food or take their fork and move anything around. I just really can’t imagine doing that and I have been a server for many years.I suggest bringing your business elsewhere and supporting a different diner or small business. We are human. Mistakes happen. Places run out of shrimp. Cooks forget to add ingredients. It’s not the point that it happened, It’s how it was handled more then anything that really has turned me off from this diner. It will be a long time before I return.
I hadnt been in a new Jersey diner in many years, this place did not disappoint, fantastic service and the food was really good will go back next time im in Edison
Waitress was very friendly and attentive.Good food. Big portions. We look forward to our next visit.
The food was delicious and the service was spectacular!
Always good food and friendly service here!
I love this diner! This is New Jersey, pure and simple! The food is fantastic and the staff is very nice! I recommend you go here.
Food is just ok. Expensive for a diner. Staff was just ok. Nothing special here, just expensive for a diner.
Friendly hostess. Restaurant was busy but the server still checked in a lot. Refilled my coffee three times.Got an omelette with a generous side of home fries. Others in my party got hot turkey sandwich and mashed. Veggies were like school food, but the rest was yum.
Food was good and very reasonable. Staff attentive
Best place i ever ate at. Amazing food and service towards their customers. Will definitely come back again
Very good service and food
Wonderful family diner. Good food. Cozy happy atmosphere with waitresses that really make one feel welcome So glad you’re open again. Edison is lucky to have you
Sorry to be a bearer of bad news 😔 but nothing special about the food, very bland no flavor at all, I Cook better at home... 👎
Huge food portions. A little pricier for diner style food but you will have enough to take home. Food was great. If you order water it comes in a tiny cup instead of a normal glass for some reason.
My favorite diner of all time. I have been going here since I was a teenager and never get tired of the food. The portions are amazingly abundant. The interior gives a vintage vibe and it just feels “right” when you’re eating.
Highly recommened the breakfast. Good soup and good waitstaff. Each table has a lil jukebox machine, which I never seen at any other diner.
Good food...awesome service...a lil expensive
Big clean beautiful diner with many options on menu to begin your day with fulsome delicious breakfast. Coffee tasted freshly brewed and refill was timely. They accommodated our party of 13 people with quick friendly service. They even accommodated my choice of whole half grapefruit instead of the juice. My spinach omelette was great and the hash browns were crisp and perfect. Rye 🍞 was toasted perfectly as well. We visited this place as a tourist but I left with my appetite unfulfilled for trying more options. I highly recommend tourists to try this place out, it will be memorable. Their hot chocolate was awesome and so was their pancakes. All the kids in our group loved their banana strawberry 🥞 ice cream 🥞, strawberry 🥞 and chocolate chips pancakes. Overall it was an awesome experience.
Service and food was great. Highly recommended
Great old time diner great breakfast missed it alot I live in 😪NY
Nice The menu is very varied, everything is very delicious.
Boring place. Server was nice but service was slow. We had to wait a while for our food even it place had only a few tables. Food was tasteless and below average. Only mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat where ok. Prices too high for this quality of food. They serve no wine, beer or liquor. We were looking forward for a little treat but it was a waste of time and money. Exterior looks much better than interior.
Old school very nice alittle prices
Waitress was pleasant food was good
Way better than expected. We were hungry and it was there. Food was very good, reasonably priced, and great service.
Great place. The server provided a great service
Nice established diner, great wait staff. Plenty of room to safely eat in or use a convenient take out space if you want to pick it up.
The quintessential New Jersey diner. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Food was top notch with a great selection of desserts big enough to share. Portions were generous and well prepared. Decor was kitschy but organic and authentic. My server told me that the diner had been there for decades and rebuilt twice through three sets of owners. The current building is a modern take on Art Deco that works without being over the top or pretentious. Great atmosphere for dates, hanging out with friends or family, or a late meal if one is a tired business traveler like me.
Service was average. Food was okay. There are better options in the area.
Love this place! So glad they are open again. Theyre making the best out of a bad situation, and the food is still delish! The staff is so friendly and professional. Cant wait to go back!
Really over priced $4.99 for a side toast. Really!Very much true, after all I was the one who paid not the owner.4 pieces of beacon $4.99, 2 pieces of sausages $4.99 side toast $4.99. coffee and a ruben total pay $34.86.
Just ordered breakfast from here. One bite of the omlette and I realized how much I miss diner food! Will definitely be going back!
I love love love this place !! My best diner so far. I love love the ambiance .
Love the food, the ambiance and the prices. Owners and staff are doing all possible to make it a pleasant experience, even during the pandemic. Definitely recommend it 100%!
