Mike and his team helped us with a balcony repair at our 1975 home. The balcony was old and poorly constructed and had a few leaks in the floor. The guys at United Construction repaired the balcony floor, replaced the roof, and installed a new railing. We are very happy with the work and they were wonderful to work with. I would definitely recommend them for any project.
Mike and his team helped us come up with some great ideas for our kitchen remodel and did a great job for us. They were very responsive to our questions and made sure the finished product was professional quality. Their pricing was fair and we were very happy with the finished product!
Good customer service and communication. I have used United on two major remodeling of kitchen and great room as well as master bath and we were very pleased.
I had a house fire in Jan 2018 and was prompted by insurance to hire United Construction. At first I was extremely happy with the choice. Mike (owner) and Colin (project manager) were very polite, seemed knowledgeable and were quick to get started. After a couple weeks of work, when the rebuilding started, I began to notice some issues. I brought them to the attention of Mike and Colin and was assured they would be fixed. As the project went along I started to realize that they were not fixing issues, but covering them up instead. It got worse and worse. There are walls that are not even square or plumb, windows that are set crooked and tilted in or out, an entire deck with structure and roof that was built on concrete blocks with their tops facing up which have no tensil strength this way, noticibly inconsistant texture on walls, insulation from the fire that was kept and reused in new walls, and these are just examples that I actually found. No telling what else will come up. I caught them in lies several times. For instance, they would state something had been done a certain way as I had requested and after they left I would pull down a piece of sheetrock and find the exact opposite was true. When the list of things I wanted them to correct got long enough, they pulled off the job, notified insurance they were no longer working on my house, and demanded an outrageous amount for final payment. Because of their statement to my insurance, they stopped paying for us to live in a rent house which left me and my two children without a home. When I examined the final bill from United Construction, I found thousands of dollars of charges for items that were not even started, let alone finished. Since I had already given them over $50,000 and the renovation was no where near complete, I refused to pay for the additional $28,000 they were trying to charge me until they removed billing for those items they hadnt done. Rather than remove items, they placed a lien on my house for the entire $28,000. This caused me to be unable to receive any additional money from insurance to continue work on our home. After more than a year of emails, court, and mediation, I finally got the incorrect billing dropped and the lien removed from my property. If you do not care about the quality of work done and just need it fast and expensive, I would definitely go with this company. If youre going to check the work and want it done right, dont get into business with them.
