Cool little coffee shop in Elizabeth City. A lot of Cuban coffees and a small selection of baked items. Prices are very reasonable and coffee is strong. Nice, little chilled cafe. Will definitely return.

Nearly everything about this place is relaxing, cheap, and delicious. Im pretty much a mango connoisseur and this place has better mango smoothies than the new Tropical Cafe that opened up a few weeks ago. If I had to choose to get a smoothie here or at Tropical I would go to Muddy Waters literally every time. They have coffee too for those of you who are coffee crazy, last I saw I think they had like 10 different blends or something, Im unsure, but if anyone else want to respond with a little bit more info feel free to do so.

LOVE this place!!! Really only local coffee shop open on a Sunday so it was pretty busy. But it had its busy times and then it died down. They allowed dogs inside which I LOVED! And they offer and sale their own coffee beans. I def will be going back everytime Im in the area. Amazing selection and delicious frappes.

Outstanding espresso beverages (and a variety of food and beverage) from a local favorite. Ordered 2 large coffees (4-shot Hazelnut Latte and 4-shot Trainwreck Latte) and was back out the door in like 3 minutes. Laid-back, inviting atmosphere, top-notch service from familiar faces, and reasonable prices. I used to frequent Starbucks, but Muddys is the reason I havent been back in 6 years.

I had my very first experience with the coffee shop known as Muddy Waters here in Elizabeth City, N.C. As of today I have been here just over 1 week. Excellent coffee, great staff, and reasonable prices. The mago smoothie is full of mango flavor without being overly sweet for my tastebuds. Its a cute little place to hang out at to chat with friends or even play a board game. I spent six years in Seattle and this place definitely has the northwest coffee house vibe.

The coffee is ALWAYS great. I visit this coffee house every time Im in Elizabeth City and the coffee has been consistently good for three past 10 years or so since theyve opened. The bulk coffee is fresh and their hot brews are strong and fresh as well. Some coffee houses have a bitter finish and others Ive been to have espresso shots that for some reason are not eye opening, but Muddy Waters has great flavors and perky brews (kind of why were going to a coffee house in the first place, right?!) and their lattes, cappucinos, breves, Americanos, and whatever else you order is a full cup. Some places leave a LOT of room even though you probably arent adding cream after ordering a blended drink.Pastries are fresh and delicious, smoothies and cold blended coffee drinks are great, the wifi is free for an hour(unusually short), and the decor is high end and comfortable (unlike the many coffee houses that are homey).Outdoor seating was added and has umbrellas for a nice, outdoor setting.

This is an awesome, funky little coffee shop with some fun espresso creations. They also serve a nice assortment of baked goods. It has a pleasant atmosphere with both tables and couches to enjoy. It also has a nice little outdoor patio. I will be back!

They do now allow dine in. Very busy on Saturday around lunch time. Great for coffee and baked goods. They serve beer, but not much of a selection. For Elizabeth City, it is pretty kitschy and eclectic, but if you are used to bigger city hangouts, you might be disappointed. I try to stop here when I am in ECity.

Very peaceful place to sit and get coffee. Theres no worries if you dont buy anything either, its a wonderful place to meet with friends and hang out. If you do buy something though, you will not be disappointed as the staff is all very learned in how to make a fantastic cup of whatever-you-want. It has outdoor seating as well if youre into that. I love to come here because the staff is friendly and their merchandise is affordable and cool. Highly suggest this as your next place for a cup of coffee.

A very awesome place, and this is coming from a guy who doesnt drink coffee. If coffee is not your forte, you can still try their delicious smoothies. They are less than 5 bucks and it is worth every dime! Most people around here know what this place is, and if you havent tried out their beverage or desserts, you are truly missing out! Come to one of Elizabeth Citys most popular places and try a delicious dessert, smoothie, or coffee which, by the way, it is all 100% natural, and 100% delicious. Highly recommended!

We love Muddys. I love the white zombie or crowbar. Always friendly when we come in. My daughter especially loves the toy dinosaur on the bookshelf and always goes to it when we stop by.

I asked for an iced machiato and im guessing they usually dont make them iced. But they made it anyways and it was absolutely the best iced macchiato around Elizabeth city. And thats stunning for it to not even be a menu item. I and others will be back for more.

Muddy Waters batistas are properly trained and execute that training every day. No push button espresso machine here. If you order a cappuccino, guess what? You wont get a latte. Youll actually get a cappuccino. The coffee is locally roasted. Yum. Fresh. The iced coffee is of the Japanese brewing method (I looked it up out of curiosity, not wanting to think any other method was as good as cold brew) which I now prefer. You add about 10% more coffee to the brew, and brew it over ice to prevent oxidation that occurs when coffee is brewed hot then chilled over time (example: put in the fridge). The staff is cool, the place is cool, the customers are cool. A gem in an otherwise diversity-lacking town. I say that with love. I live here, dont I?

Recommended by a local friend, Muddy Waters did not disappoint! Great coffee and very helpful staff. Our order was wrong due to a computer error, and they were so gracious and patient AND generous in sorting it out. The ambience is bright but cozy, a nice place to relax, chat, or get some work done.

Atmosphere and service was good. They roast their own coffee and I could tell. I have an educated palate for coffee so I may be over critical. However, I did not like the coffee. It was bitter and under-roasted for my liking.

This was my first time at Muddy Waters Coffeehouse and I thouroughly enjoyed my visit. Its nice to see E-City building itself up and supporting local businesses. Coffee was pretty good as well. They even have an outdoor area which is rather nice for the warmer months. Very inviting.

As far as the atmosphere is concerned it has everything you love about a coffee shop with very small doses of the annoying things that arent worth even mentioning. Anyone visiting the area should definitely stop by and have a cup. Theres really no comparison.

A genuinely nice coffee house with really good coffee and truly friendly staff. The staff was not only super friendly but very accommodating and helpful too. I bought a bag of coffee out of despiration, they roast their own. I love the NC Morning blend and have ended my internet coffee purchases because of it. The coffee is dark and oily but much to my suprise, I like light roast, not bitter at all! And the bags are overfilled compared to everywhere else!

Fast service and delicious coffee!! I ordered two drinks and before I could finish ordering my second drink they already had the first one ready! I got a hazelnut latte and it was a perfectly balanced drink of sweetness to coffee flavor.
