Rick Counselbaum, his crew and staff were incredible to work with! They installed flooring in my basement and some carpet on the stairs. They were on time, communicated everything going on and timing of the project and were so helpful in choosing selections! I wouldnt work with anyone else in the the future but them.

We used OHi for a custom storage solution in our garage and while we were ultimately satisfied with the quality, the overall experience was frustrating and disappointing.Our project ended up taking significantly longer than expected… A big part of the problem was it was installed incorrectly which led to numerous follow up visits over a few month span. In addition to repeatedly needing to miss work to accommodate, we would often go weeks without any communication or updates on how long it would take.We are happy with how everything looks now, but I think I would look elsewhere if I was gonna do it all over.

OHi finished our basement and we have been very happy with their work. Our project manager, Ben, was great to work with. He was really friendly and extremely responsive. He always made sure to let us know when workers would be arriving and what to expect. The team did a great job. They were all very mindful of noise and cleanliness. We absolutely love how everything turned out. They were also great about trying to work within our budget. We would definitely recommend them!

This was our first experience with remodeling, so we decided to start with a bathroom. I have to say, from start to finish I felt completely confident in everyone who works for OHI. Andrea, our designer listened to what my design goal was, and made it happen. She is not shy about telling you if something wont look right, and offers alternative suggestions. Thats what you want in a designer! She has a great bubbly personality and was always available when I had questions. Our project manager Ben was outstanding. He made sure everyone from the tilers, plumber and electrician arrived on time and checked on their work once they were finished each step of the way. Very professional with a sense of humor as well! I never worried about inspections and permits as Ben and his team took care of all that for us. Any question or concern he always had an answer for, and was always available via text, which made me more comfortable. The tilers did a fantastic job and were very meticulous. The plumber changed our shower hose because he thought the one that came with the shower head was too stiff to use. I wouldnt have thought of that until it was too late. All in all, it was a good experience and we feel like the OHI team didnt just consider us another job. When its time for the kitchen remodel I will be calling on this team again!

Our experience with the team at OHi was fantastic! They provided a level of professionalism that is rare in todays Home Improvement contractor world. Their Design team (Teri and Tammy) spent time with us to understand our tastes and requirements - then put together a beautiful plan that we were able to flesh out with countertops, tile and fixtures chosen directly from their showroom. Their project team, led by Project Manager Jeff and our primary Craftsmen Tom and Chris, started the very complex project when promised and completed it in 7 weeks. They were a very pro-active team and continuously identified ways to improve the project - going above and beyond our expectations. We came in on-time and on-budget! Highly recommended!

John and Kim were great to work with and made the home remodeling process fun and efficient. They collaborated to come up with creative yet timeless design ideas and did not stop working until I was happy. The contractors that were in my house were respectful and hard working. I used Ohi to remodel my kitchen, bathroom and install wood flooring .I cannot express how dissatisfied we are ! They come across as a very professional company with project managers and designers but the truth is ever went wron with our job ! We are snowbirds and left them from December through Aprilto complete the job they said would take 2 months .I received a call from the designer that they measured the cabinets wrong .1 st time this has ever happened so we had to redo our design which I had to do the designers had no idea what to do they cut an extra hole in our quartz countertops by our sink .I went along with everything but wasn’t happy about it at all ! They didn’t reinstall our dishwasher properly and water went all over the new wood floor & ruined it . They sent out there plumber who informed me they left my dishwasher in our garage in winter and the gaskets dried out unbelievable! Plus the whole floor had scratches in it I believe from putting my furniture back ..I paid them every Penny that I owed them when they wanted it, expect I held back the money for the floor until it was done properly .I bought a new dishwasher as asked by the floor person Pavel and left again for the season year 2 .I saw pictures of the floor I ordered a gray floor now my floor is brown with a hint of gray I hated the floor .I returned home to find my house is filthy the bathroom was unbelievable.They refused to take any responsibility for anything . They basically called us liars and bullying us until we paid them .I’ve never been spoken to like that .so unnecessary…please do not use this company there only good if things go well ! Ps we sold our home I hated the floors so much !

It was an easy choice when deciding to work with OHi on our basement remodel. From the start they were helpful, knowledgable and attentive. We had never done construction, but they helped us through every step. They were on board with all of our ideas and had a lot of their own, everything came together better than we imagined. Every person we worked with was great. From John and Jeff answering a million questions for us, to the workers being respectful of our home and cleaning up every day. Their showroom made decision making a breeze. We love spending time in our new basement, everyone that has seen it has been blown away. We have plans to work with OHi for a few other projects in our home in the near future!

I hired OHi to renovate my whole house, top to bottom. They replaced all my floors, put in a brand new kitchen, bathrooms, trim & interior doors, and made sure my home had a great flow from one room to the next. Since OHi does EVERYTHING for the home, I only had to work with one company, had one project manager/point of contact & an awesome designer. My project manager made sure we stayed on track & on budget while my designer made sure my home looked amazing. We recently made the decision to sell our home, and recouped our investment and then some, with multiple offers coming in within 24 hours of being listed. Its a no-brainer for me to hire them them again for my new homes upcoming projects! Highly recommend!

We had a WONDERFUL experience with OHi! From the moment we walked into the design room, we were treated with nothing but professionalism and respect from every member of the team! Teri did an amazing job creating a design vision on a complete remodel of our kitchen, dining, and living room spaces. When we first arrived, we had limited ideas of what we wanted and were overwhelmed by choices available. She listened and quickly offered answers and options that were both tasteful and unique. Our project was delayed by quarantine requirements, and we made the decision to hold-off longer than required by the governor, with nothing but support from OHi. When we were ready, the team gave us a small window of time needed to complete the work and they kept that promise! (A first for us, compared to previous contractors!) Jeff was a wonderful project manager. He listened to us when we had concerns and handled them with patience and professionalism. His ability to juggle all the pieces needed to do a job, is nothing short of miraculous! The demo work his crew did was quick and all the work they did was thoroughly cleaned every single day. Jeff even returned after the project to disconnect our new refrigerator due to a problem with the appliance that had nothing to do with OHi. In the end, we are ecstatic with the results! Everything is beautiful and much more functional than we had before. (The compliments we get from friends and family are pretty nice, too! ) We have already recommended Ohi to several people and wouldn’t consider using another contractor again!

We hired OHI to do a full remodel of our kitchen and install/refinish hardwood floors throughout the first floor. We are so happy with the end result! We had our master bedroom remodeled and we now have a beautiful master bathroom. The design process was robust and provided options for what is now our awesome master bathroom. This project started up on schedule at the beginning with most activities completed before Covid-19 created scheduling and logistics issues that extended the project pretty long, otherwise the project and progress to completion could have resulted in a rating of 5. We are very happy.

We actually looked at 8-9 different contractors for our kitchen and mud room remodel, and are extremely happy we decided to go with OHI. Mark was clear with the scope and timeline of the job, and made us comfortable from the start. Our Project Manager, Jeff, was incredibly easy to work with and was in constant communication with us throughout. The tradesmen brought in were all top notch guys - prompt every morning, very polite, clean, and worked hard all day. Mike, Tommy and Will all deserve a mention, but I know I cant remember some of the others that deserve a tip of the cap too. My wife and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND OHI, and wouldnt think twice to use them again.

Were back at OHi for our second project. We did a first floor remodel with new kitchen and working with Teri (designer) and Jeff (project manager) was an absolute pleasure. They have exceptional communication and collaboration. Projects get finished on time because they dont use subcontractors. Cant wait until we get our basement finished in a few months!

We are very pleased with our bathroom. Tammy and Sarah are amazing. They were very patient and listened. I don’t know how they were able to meet all of the requirements. Their recommendations were perfect. Everyone worked in a timely and professional manner. Ben oversaw the work and maintained constant communication with us. The workers took care of even the smallest details. At the end of each day, the work area was clean. We really are enjoying our custom bathroom.

From the first meeting, Kim and John were professionals who really listened to what I wanted to do with my remodel. I had all new floors installed on the entire first floor, and a kitchen remodel (walls torn down). Kims designs were perfect! During the project, the workmen were clean, polite, and tried to keep a minimal footprint while in my house. Their workmanship is top of the line and they were always respectful of me and my family. Jeff, the project manager, was incredible. He took my calls on weekends and nights when I had a question. He really kept me informed on the project including a daily timeline of what to expect.The one asset that I recognized with OHI is their true sense of family. The carpenters (Tommy, Chris and Will) got along with the plumber(John) who got along with the electricians who got along with the president (John) who got along with the designer (Kim) who got along with the project manager (Jeff). Once, I think they were all in my house at the same time having a great time doing what they love. Gotta give props to Tommy for his awesome music. All-in-all I would highly recommend this great group of people for any work you need done. They really made me feel at home with any questions I had throughout the process. Our remodel was started the first Monday of May 2020. The OHI teams enthusiasm on arrival that day was impressive and helpful in calmimg pandemic and normal remodel nerves! Our project included removal of a wall/closet that housed our furnace and water heater, kitchen demo, new flooring throughout living area, installation of new furnace and on demand water heater, 2 new closets and new trim & 2 new doors and last but not least a beautiful banquette. As with any big project there were unforseen challenges to resolve quickly and in the best way possible. This was achieved. Our remodel was completed in just 8 weeks on time for our annual 4th of July family gathering. What stood out to us was the quality and care of the OHI team. We are more than pleased with our new space because of the excellent design, quality of workmanship and the high quality of materials our designer helped us select.

Thank you to the OHi team for a high quality, successfully completed project. We had a number of fix up issues around our house including replacing our kitchen island. Remodeling is never easy but OHi made it run so smoothly. From the design team of Mary and Sarah to the actual project work under Ben(project manager), all went great. They always responded to our requests or changes. Our bathroom turned out beautifully...we are so pleased!!

OHi replaced 15 interior doors which included a fire-rated door to the garage. We could not be happier with the quality of their work. All jams, trim, hardware and handles were professionally installed. Jeff was always prompt to answer our messages and let us know timelines. Both carpenters, Tom and Chris, did an expert job and were sociable and courteous. We were comfortable having them work in our home. We want to thank Tammy at the office, too, for answering all my questions and for her patience. This old house is a lot brighter because of our new doors. Thanks, OHi!

Thank you OHI for helping me with a few projects to take my home up a notch. Their designer Mary, amazingly managed to fit an efficient master bathroom in a small space using a wall of existing plumbing. They also did an awesome job taking my tiny, blah powder room a cute space in my home with a tile wall. They definitely care about the quality of their work and everything turned out perfect.

Simply put...they were sub-par for what we expected. They did not deliver the professionalism, the workmanship, or the dedication to the customer that you would expect from a group that is so well-known in the area. The worst part was that we trusted that they would and we cant get back the money or the TIME that was invested in the project.

I chose to work with OHI because they are a third generation, family-run business. Renovated my loft in the west loop, limited floor space and closets. My designer, Teri, provided excellent guidance on the best use of the space I had. Took me a while to pick my finishes and flooring, however Teri was patient yet consistent in her support. John and his entire team continue to make me feel part of the family!

OHI did a fantastic job remodeling the entire upper floor of our home. Their hard work and dedication helped us to complete the large project and it turned out better than we had imagined.The project started when John, Dove and Ben came to our house to assess the project, listen to our ideas and guide us through our plans. OHI worked with the village for all the permits and passed all inspections set by the Village. Not only did the OHI team complete excellent quality work but the attitudes of their staff were always professional and often fun.We owe our gratitude to the entire OHI team. We are grateful and love the job they ALL did making our dated house a home again.

An excellent remodeling experience with OHI. Worked with Kim and John to design our Powder Room, Foyer, and Kitchen remodel and from start to finish everything was very professional. We liked the fact that they either used their own employees or contractors they have been working with for years to get the job done. Especially liked having a dedicated project manager (Ben) that oversaw all the scheduling. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail showed in every aspect of their work, as if they were remodeling their own home and wanted to be proud of the job. I recommend them without hesitation.

I called OHI for a bathroom remodel. John was great and helpful throughout the entire process. The work was completed in a timely manner, which was important as this was the only bathroom in the house. Crews were on time. And Im happy with the finished bathroom!

Our carpeting was quite old and matted. As we are getting older, our biggest concern was moving all the furniture out and getting new carpet. John came in measured and assured us they would take care of it. We went to the showroom in Elk Grove and were amazed at the displays and ideas for the rest of the house. We selected carpet, it was delivered, installed on time and was completed without damage to the furniture or walls. The guys were friendly and did a great job. After seeing the displays I think we’ll have them remodel the main bath next. Great job guys!

So glad I found OHi ... I found the flooring that i wanted online and then searched for companies that were distributors of the flooing and OHi came up. And thankfully they did .. they were very close to my house and I never even knew of them.My project was flooring for a small sunroom and the OHi team treated it like it was a huge job ... they were wonderfully helpful in selecting the color and the exact model of flooring. Then I asked if they had installers and they were able to get it all ordered and installed in under 2 weeks.They are a real class act and I will recommend friends and family to go there for any remodeling project they have!!Thanks John for all your help ... OHI installed hardwood flooring throughout the first floor of our house. It is beautiful and we get a lot of compliments.The flooring was installed by Pavel. The work was finished in a timely manner and each day Pavel totally cleaned up before he left.John and Kim came to our house on more than one occasion to help us pick flooring that would look great with our decorating style as well as our furniture. They both made a return visit after the flooring was complete to help us select area rugs.We are now re-carpeting the second floor of our house and of course we are using OHI.

We bought and completely remodeled a condo. John was our sales person and advisor, and Jeff was our project manager. We could not have been happier with the outcome. Both of these guys were by our side the entire time. They listened to our concerns and resolved any problems we may have encountered. I have since recommended OHI to others.

I cant express how happy we are with our decision to go with OHi for our kitchen remodel. We did do a lot of shopping around but soon learned that my Salesperson Tammy and our designer Teri were the perfect match for us and bless their heart, they were so patient with us! I mean this is a big decision and a big investment, you want to get this right! With OHi, you can trust your gut, they are THAT good!I want to take a second to talk about the crew, the guys that become your buddies for the next 2-3 months!! It started when I met my project manager and now friend Jeff Goble. He has to be one of the nicest and most honest guys you could ask for with such a project. Then you get the crew, Tommy, Will, Mike, Chris and John.These guys are the salt of the earth, fun to chat with, Tommy will make you crack up! Mike is a genius when it comes to cabinet hanging, we joked that he could work for NASA when it comes to math and measurements. Will is just a good young man and is learning from the best. As bad as I wanted this project to be finished, I also miss these characters.When we met with Tammy, Teri and Jeff, we were given a timeline of 10-11 weeks from start to finish. Considering I had a load bearing wall we wanted taken out and also did our laundry room, 3 months sounded fair. To our surprise, it was 8 weeks to the day and had ABT been on their game, I would say it would be 7 weeks! This may be rare but I dont think so, I think its because theyre so on point, punctual and a hard working group.AND THEY LOVE DOGS!!! They even have their own dogs on their website. When we started going over designs, we had a 4 month old puppy English Bulldog, the girls in the office loved on her so much and would take her from us so we could focus on picking things out. The guys at the house loved on her too, although she was a little mad that they were making noises shes never heard.It was such a great experience with OHi, were going to start planning a basement makeover next. And our kitchen looks AMAZING! They just finished the after photos so Im eager to see it online. We are the ones in Roselle. Thanks to the whole crew, great people.

I own a business and needed some major work done in a short period of time. Not only was OHI priced competitively, but their project management was first rate and quality of work was exactly what I wanted in the timeframe I wanted (even with all my requests for changes during the project). I had been wanting to remodel my old kitchen for years. The thought of searching for the right crew to tackle the job was intimidating. One day, driving my son to baseball I saw a sign for OHi. I decided to call them. From my first meeting with John and Kim, the culture of the company instantly felt like family. My husband insisted on getting 2nd and 3rd opinions. I interviewed one more just to appease him. My gut told me to go with OHi. And I have no regrets! OHi is AMAZING! Everyone we came in contact with was professional, courteous and great to work with. Kim Malito, the designer, was patient, helpful and on several occasions even came over on her day off to simply calm me down (I am of the paralysis by analysis people) or give advice. She helped me stay on budget and pleased with all her selections. Every crew member who came through, was professional, paid attention to detail and very friendly. My biggest angst was the mess Id heard construction presents. Well, with OHi it was minimal. The crew would end their day, by cleaning to their best of their ability. One time after drywall it was quite dusty, the project manager wasnt happy and sent a crew after hours to mop the floors!! With every job comes some hiccups. But, with OHi, with every obstacle they were there to rectify and satisfy. If you are considering OHi, stop looking. They are the company for you!

We used OHI to remodel our new home. We not only recarpeted our entire home, but OHI also refinished our wood floors and railing, along with installing new hardwood to match. Everything was on schedule and the crew was timely, professional, and easy to work with. At the last minute, we decided to add more hardwood flooring and they made the change without a fuss. Weve worked with John and Nick for years and have always loved their work and great insight.

We contacted OHI, John came to our home to see the kitchen and bathroom that we wanted to remodel and followed up with an estimate within a few weeks. John was very attentive to our needs and assured us that they would do just what we wanted and do it nice! We started the project and worked closely the next several months with Cheryl (shes just an amazing lady!) setting up all the necessary appointments to pick out the granite and tile and materials needed. Every worker that OHI sent to our home was pleasant and polite. They cleaned up each time they finished (at the end of each day). As the project went on things ran smooth and better than ever expected. My kitchen and bathroom are both completely finished and look amazingly beautiful. I would highly recommend OHI to our friends and family. They are a first class business and have some amazing people there to work with like Cheryl and John.

I saw an ohi van at my neighbors house almost every day for about a month so I asked him what got done. He got a full bathroom remodel and said to give them a call if I was thinking about getting any work done on my house. The next day I called to see if i could get a quote to update my bathroom and they sent a sales person out the next day. The salesman first spent time with me talking about what I was looking for and took some measurements and then we talked some more about specifics. He seemed incredibly knowledgeable but I was still skeptical since I dont know much about remodeling or costs. Within the next week he got me a quote with breakdowns of everything. He called me back a couple days after to see if i had any questions or needed clarification on anything. I wanted to make a change on the plan and he worked with me to tailor it exactly to what i envisioned. When the project started he was readily available through out the entire process to answer any concerns I had. The crew that did the work was very professional. They were careful about not getting dust and dirt all over the house and checked in with me from time to time to make sure that it was looking how I wanted. I would recommend this company to anyone and everyone. I had a great experience with each person I came across there and it resulted in a beautiful and affordable new bathroom for me.

OHI did a wonderful job of fixing our master shower. It was a remodel gone bad type of project, but John came to our house and assured us that he could fix the problems and make it look fantastic- which he did. Camille did a great tile job and it looks beautiful!! The OHI staff couldn’t be any nicer! We are extremely pleased with the project and highly recommend OHI!!

We contracted with OHI to completely renovate two bathrooms based on referrals from 3 different friends who recently used them. The whole process went extremely well and we couldnt be more pleased with the end result.Our sales lead, John Kautz, and our designer, Dove Brown, worked closely with us to develop a plan that met our desires and budget. The project finished exactly on budget. The project manager, Jeff Kolata, and the large team of tradesman were wonderful to work with. Jeff gave me a project plan the first day and stuck to it throughout the project. He alerted me every night when to expect the crew to arrive the next day which was very helpful.The project was completed on schedule, even though the work occurred during the record breaking cold!We were very impressed with all of the staff, too many to name, but all were excellent. They worked closely with me throughout the project and went the extra mile to make sure everything met our expectations. Most impressive was how well they coordinated with each other. It was clear they enjoyed working for OHI and each other. It made a huge difference.Based on our experiences, and those of our friends who previously used them, we would highly recommend OHI.

I have used OHI several times over the last few years. They were excellent! John Kautz personally supervised my kitchen flooring renovation from planning to finish which required removing glazed tiles from the entry hall as well as asphalt tile in the kitchen and replacing them with modern porcelain tile unifying the entire area. OHI ‘s crew of workmen were courteous, conscientious, punctual and tidy. At a later date OHI carpeted my expansive basement area turning it into a model recreation area. I was totally pleased with their workmanship. I recommend asking for John Kautz. John is knowledgeable and will assist you in every aspect of your project.Carl Pasco

Wish I had the same experience as the other posts. It had taken almost 2 months to finish our job. The head contractor has poor communication. He says a job will be complete on certain days and its not. When I told him about sine work that wasnt complete, he said that most of the work was completed in his opinion. I had to send pictures to him. Now weve been waiting 2 weeks to have finishes done to a bathroom. Ugh. It shouldve been done and is not. Now its possible theyll be working on my anniversary date! I will never recommend OHI to anyone.

With my basement renovation coming to a close and final inspection set to be performed next week, I couldnt wait any longer to share my experience that I had with OHI.My renovation budget was only 30k but OHI made my money go a long way to modernize my 1500sq ft basement. I started the process several months ago with our designated project manager, Don. From the in-home consultation, he promptly came up with a proposal that met my needs and fit the vision I had in mind for the space. After agreeing on the plans, permits were issued within three weeks and the project began on time.During the first major phase of the remodel, there was extensive electrical work that was performed. OHI brought in ALP. Jeff, the owner of ALP and his associate Mike, were a pleasure to work with and their display of absolute professionalism was reflected in everything they did in my home. When we ran into some unforseen circumstances, they were able to come up with solutions that didnt impact my budget too much. I felt that they they went above and beyond in so many areas with their customer service and they truly set the benchmark for quality work.Just like Jeff and Mike, the carpenters from OHI that worked in my home displayed the same level of integrity and professionalism. Ray, Paul, Tommy and their entire crew including Chris and Jose were phenomenal. They were all really personable people and each one of them had a major hand in making my basement look great. They never hesitated to ask for my input on my preferences when it came to certain details and were very flexible when I changed my mind on a few things. I could definately see that customer satisfaction was their number one objective and the quality of their skill does not go unnoticed when you look at the final product.I didnt get all of the names of the drywall team that OHI sent to my home, but their work was also very impressive as there was extensive drywall work that was done. I cant find any spots left untreated. They worked very efficiently and exceeded my expectations with a few things that they were able to do.This has been my first expeince with OHI and overall, it has been a great one. Don follows through on any requests, concerns or changes made and has been flexible throughout. Everything was done in a timely fashion. Ill post a few before and after photos of the basement when the finishing touches are completed.With many more major renovations in my home that I plan to do in the coming years, OHI has earned my business and I cant wait to have all of these guys come back to perform the work.Special thanks to everyone who was involved.
