This was so good! The ice cream matcha soft serve was to die for. Tried several of their cakes and so far everything has been awesome. Definitely will be going back for more.

I love their desserts!!!! The dreams of Sakura is fantastic! I wish they have a store here in PA/NJ. Their tiramisu crepe cake is fantastic. Comparing to the lady M tiramisu crepe cake, they only loose by a very small fraction. I will however, complain about their boba milk cap cake. Cake is soft and bouncy, however the boba is not that great. Not that chewy to my liking.

Kyoto Matcha has super delicious matcha desserts. Their matcha crepe cake is perfection -- great matcha flavor, thin crepes, and smooth creamy layers. It pairs perfectly with their matcha drinks and ice cream. Ive had the cheese matcha latte and the strawberry matcha latte and both are flavored perfectly and not too sweet. The drink prices are pretty standard and well worth it. The crepe cake is $9 but absolutely worth it -- its rich enough to share with multiple people alongside drinks/ice cream. This is a must-go for desserts in the Ellicott City area!

Nice little shop, neat and clean, friendly staff. We had the soft serve both matcha and vanilla were delicious and refreshing. Also tried the matcha latte with red beans and you can choose your sugar level. The desserts look so pretty, will definitely be back!

So glad this location opened up on this side of MD. I came early on Easter Sunday to grab some desserts. I ordered the iced matcha latte, matcha milk cap cake, matcha crepe layer cake, matcha roll cake, and the sakura cheese mouse cake. My family and I loved all of the desserts. The textures and airiness of each of the desserts were great. I love the mouse cake it tasted like a cheesecake and the bottom had a dark chocolate thick layer. The matcha crepe layer cake and the matcha rolls are a must order. Textures on the roll were on point and you cant help to admire the creativeness before taking a bite.Something about this location vs the Rockville one the desserts just taste better. Since this location recently opened during Covid. They have fiberglass partitions, sanitizing stations and the staff is wearing gloves/masks. This is a great place to come for drinks and desserts. Ill definitely be back to try their other desserts.

This place is lovely!! Really pretty and clean on the inside and the service is so fast while still keeping the quality high. So far I have tried 2 of the milk cap cakes and a brown sugar boba. The drink was just okay but the cakes were really good, the strawberry rose one was my favorite and the boba was was also delicious and very unique. I also love that nothing is overly sweet, and thr deserts have the correct balance of salty flavor. I cant wait to keep returning to try different items!

YUM! I love matcha soft serve! The atmosphere of the space is trendy and hip, seems like a place I could gather with friends and hang out.Sadly they were out of mochi and the vanilla soft serve when I got there (Friday around 8pm?). Just means Ill have to come back sometime, especially for some of their pastry desserts.PS: also specify if you want your soft serve in a to go cup. They dont just have lids to pop into their usual cups.

I regret I only got one Dreams of Sakura, I should get 3 at least!! It is so tasty and heavenly and pretty to look at too!!Front end staff did a good job - so helpful and offered us a taste of matcha soft serve before deciding to get it or not. 10/10 on customer service.

Me and bf have been looking toward a Kyoto matcha closer to us ( we’ve gone a lot to the Rockville location) and on Friday (oct 16) we finally got to go. The inside is small and nice! I got a parfait and bf got the sakura cheesecake.In comparison to the Rockville location: the employees I think are a little nicer ( not a big deal either way) but bf said, as the other reviews pointed out, the cheesecake was not as good as the OG location, a small difference. If the OG is an 8/10, this one is more like a 7.Either way it’s worth trying out!UPDATE: we’ve been here about 3 times now and I have to retract my previous 4/5 rating because the cakes since then have delivered!

This spot is my go-to dessert place after work. I love everything they have. My favorites are matcha latte float and ice cream soft serve. I have yet to try other stuff, but I am planning to. The location is also straightforward to find. The price is very affordable and fantastic for matcha. I highly recommend this dessert place if you are a matcha lover like me. If not, you should try it. I promised you wouldnt regret it.

They have everything green tea or taro definitely one of my favorite spots.

I like matcha dessert. This place really have some quality products. I like the matcha latte with green tea ice cream on top. and also they have the best layer cakes i have ever had. will be come back again to try more.

Only got bubble tea from them, and the taste is more milky than tea but was fine. The desserts looked very good, but had no chance to get some. Overall very pleasant customer service, will be back for more.

I was disappointed when I ate the cake and the tiramisu. They were both very flavorless and the tiramisu tasted old. The cake and tiramisu was not sweet nor bitter. The matcha shot is another story. It comes with the tiramisu and will keep you up for many hours.

I love this place! The staff is always friendly and the ice cream is so good! I love getting the full cup of matcha ice cream, although the half vanilla half matcha one is good as well. It’s a great hangout spot or good place for a quick sweet treat.

The soft-serve is great but keep in mind that they usually close 10-15 minutes early so dont expect to be able to come at 9:45pm and still get ice cream.

The ice cream was really good and the sakura dream and even the matcha crepe cake. But... the ice matcha Latte with boba and milk was not good at all it taste like chemicals and Im confused as to why, because the other items didnt. It was busy and maybe they were rushing things but still I was really disappointed because it was my first time and it looked so good but... taste so bad...😩

Very good quality matcha in Kyoto Matcha. I can tell matcha from Japan is much different with matcha from another country.

The matcha soft-serve is the best hands-down! I could tell they use good quality matcha, the subtle flavors really do come out unlike most store bought matcha ice cream. Got the cone and the parfait - the amount of ice cream in the cone is generous, but the parfait could use a bit more ice cream and less corn flakes. Will definitely be back to try the cakes too

Try Kyoto Match for the first time and more likely will not come back. The crepes taste old and dry. The matcha float is not that great either, keep me up for many hours. If you like Crepes, try Lady M Boutique in Tyson Corner, will not disappointing you.

The workers here are so polite and friendly. The desserts are amazing; you can eat multiple desserts because nothing is overly sweet, just the perfect amount of sugar. Well worth the price!

Super disappointed. I really wanted to like this place.The last several times Ive ordered a drink from this location, theyve somehow managed to omit at least one ingredient. I took it back once and asked for a replacement or to just add the missing ingredient, to which they gave me a new one but questioned what I ordered. They checked the receipt and saw that what was made was not what I ordered. Ill give 2 stars because the desserts/ice cream are decent.

I have been to this location of Kyoto Matcha twice and have experienced major issues both times.It would be unfair to detail all the issues, but I just ask that the staff communicate to customers. If a customer will have to wait 40 minutes for their order of a slice of crepe cake and 2 cream puffs, that should be communicated early on to the customer.

Went to the Ellicott City store a few times and ordered the soft serve ice cream usually. The size of the soft serve ice cream is inconsistence especially during the promotion BOGO. Other time waited for 40 minutes for a soft serve ice cream when they told me 5 minutes after another 5 minutes . Staffs are lack of experience and can’t operate the store professionally. It’s seemed the kids are running the store ..

Came here excited to try the matcha crepe layer cake again after the 45 minute drive. Unfortunately, they were closed due to added kitchen equipment that needed approval from Howard County. Wish this was posted online to make people aware of and also the hours of operation as well on Google.

I’m originally from Japan. My husband and I went to Kyoto Matcha for the first time. We bought two matcha drinks, three different types of matcha cakes and a sweet potato cake. Their drinks were so bad. They added too much water and those drinks tasted way too bitter. Their matcha cakes were all too bitter because they were covered with too much matcha powder. Also, the matcha cream of their cakes were so bitter too. The matcha powder was overpowering. There are so many different kinds of matcha desserts in Japan, but their matcha drinks and desserts are not authentic. You can’t find such bad matcha desserts and drinks in Japan. I really don’t want Americans to think that they are authentic Japanese matcha desserts and drinks. I really don’t want this place to represent Japan. Their drinks and cakes are not worth trying. My husband and I are so disappointed. We’ll never go back.

Which is insane, but YOLO. Once I tried the cake, I had zero regrets! I’ve never tasted a dessert like this in my life. It wasn’t too sweet or heavy, but perfectly tasteful. They have other crepe layered cakes as well, but who could resist chocolate!I could only eat half of my piece and left the other half for the next day. So it’s def shareable. Overall, the place is clean, covid friendly, and the items are High quality. I’m giving it 4 starts because I wish the piece of cake was priced a little lower .. maybe $7 instead of $9 🤔

Very excited to see this new store was open. We have been craving Japanese treats after traveling there last year, and the flavors brought us right back - very authentic! We tried the matcha latte float (with 50% sugar - perfect, just sweet enough) and the matcha roll cake. We loved them both and we’re looking forward to returning many times so we can try everything!

Ordered 4 crepe cakes and 6 matcha puffs for soft opening. Was given a milk cap cake instead of one of the crepe cakes and the cream puffs were overcooked and barely had any cream (about a teaspoon) in them. Really low quality compared to the Rockville location so far.

Seriously some of the best soft serve around Howard County and best authentic matcha desserts!!!! So happy to have a place like this in Howard!!! Cant wait until the pandemic is over because the space and interior are so cute,it’d only heighten the experience of the aesthetic desserts. They’re matcha lemonade is also so💕👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 Went to the soft opening and tried as many desserts as I could. What i can say is their specialty is definitely matcha though, the taro desserts ive tried so far just taste like cream. Other than that seriously a great place and I hope they stick around because I’m addicted!

I’m a loyal customer of Kyoto been here two two three times every week . I love the matcha latte and matcha boba. It’s great because you have the option how much amount of sugar you want to put on your drinks . And the best pet service is fast and they have a nice customer service . Highly recommended

The quality of the desserts are mediocre, and the prices are unreasonably high. That was my first and last visit to this store.

The cake is so delicious. It is sweet in just the right amount. Most foreign cake shops are too sweet to eat, but it is really sweet in moderation. I suddenly wanted to eat so much, so I used Door Dash delivery to eat it, but its a cake restaurant♡
